You might be encountering a surge of tracks labeled "Afro House." But hold on a minute – isn't that what Progressive House used to be called? This trend of rebranding classic genres isn't new. Remember when Deep House morphed into commercial House, then Future House? Great music deserves recognition on its own merits, not through constant relabeling. Speaking of great music, the recent TikTok wave has unearthed some fantastic reworked Progressive House classics. Think genre pioneers like John Creamer & Stephane K, Deep Dish, Scumfrog, and artists who masterfully used heavy percussion – Chus & Ceballos, Oscar G & Ralph Falcon, Friburn & Urik, Peter Rauhofer, and many more. Tracks like Rui Da Silva's timeless "Touch Me" are getting a fresh spin for modern dance floors, and the results are phenomenal! Back to the Future: Revisiting Millennial Dance Music The cyclical nature of dance music trends is undeniable. Right now, the spotlight's on late-90s and early 2000s classics, with artists sampling or revamping entire tracks. It's a trend we wholeheartedly support, and you can expect to hear these gems showcased in future Club Fusion and Peak Hour sets. This trend sparked a trip down memory lane for us here at Party Favorz. Remember our BackSpin series from way back in our early years? Last year, we aimed to revisit the glory days of 2000s dance music, following up on our popular Ultimate 90s House Classics series. We started with a Millennial Dance Classics series, but the sheer diversity of the decade made it tough to curate a cohesive set. After all, massive hits often land in our Top Dance Songs of the Year anyway. So, we decided to resurrect the BackSpin series! This allows us to delve deeper into specific genres that defined the 2000s dance music scene. Each BackSpin release will focus on a distinct genre, with a sprinkle of Trance and Electronica thrown in for good measure. These sets will typically span a five-year period, featuring a mix of crowd-pleasing favorites and some hidden gems ripe for rediscovery – think "It's Love (Trippin')" by Goldtrix and Andrea Brown or "Addicted To Bass" by Puretone featured in volume 1. For those seeking classic remixes by the likes of Thunderpuss, Hex Hector, and Victor Calderone, fear not! We've already covered those in our Classic Circuit Anthems series from 2014. The BackSpin Reboot: A Journey Through Millennial Dance Music Genres The rebooted BackSpin series will explore the vast and vibrant landscape of Millennial dance music, beyond the big remixes.

https://www.mixcloud.com/horatioofficial/horatio-preents-ibizaholic-radioshow-episode-52-special-guest-mix-oscar-g/ Save the best for last. I have the honour and privilege to have as guest star in my radioshow the LEGENDARY DJ AND PRODUCER , MR"DARK BEATS" himself, OSCAR G . If you were to get out a map and track the history of house music – with endless lines sprouting from New York, Chicago and Detroit to points all over the world – you'd have to make a big, red circle around Miami, Florida, and start drawing. Miami was never ground zero to a full-fledged subcultural movement. But it is where Oscar Gaetan, better known as Oscar G, has lived every day of his life. And that fact alone makes it a hub on the global underground. An award-winning songwriter, producer, and DJ, Oscar is one of dance music's brightest and most enduring stars. As part of seminal production teams Liberty City, Murk, and Funky Green Dogs, he boasts hits – Billboard chart-toppers as well as underground smashes – in every decade, every trend, and every market. “Some Lovin',” “Fired Up,” and “Dark Beat” are more than just tracks: They are moments, shared by clubbers worldwide. They're the kind of moments Oscar still creates at Space Miami, his hometown superclub, where he's been a resident DJ for a staggering eight years – coming full circle after a globetrotting career. Oscar and longtime friend and production partner Ralph Falcon grew up in a Miami enlivened by the fresh spirit of hip-hop. “Break dancing, graffiti and the music that went along with it: That's really what got me into DJ-ing in the first place,” he says. By the age of 12, he was already spinning at school dances. Oscar and Ralph started working together at the end of high school, blending the sounds of their youth with the beginnings of house, like Ten City and Blaze; and the darker Euro bands of the time, like Depeche Mode and New Order. “We were always big on doing our own sound, with our own feeling and vibe in every aspect of it; from the way we mixed things to the sounds we chose,” says Oscar. “I remember being obsessed with that for years, and then people started to listen.” The early years bore some of the work for which they're still best known, like often imitated, never duplicated vocals “Some Lovin',” “If You Really Love Someone,” and “Reach For Me” (Tribal). Upon their release in 1993, the pair became instant superstars. “Europe kind of grabbed us,” says Oscar, so they spent a good amount of time touring overseas, eventually visiting every major and minor outpost of the global dance scene, including Zouk Singapore, Ministry Of Sound London, and Stereo Montreal. “Fired Up!” (Twisted), their biggest hit ever, followed in 1996. It topped the Billboard Dance chart, and even cracked the Top 100, peaking at No. 80. They would go on to remix countless major pop artists, from Madonna to Cher to Donna Summer; and appear on mainstream outlets like MTV and Top Of The Pops. The boys also cut two complete Funky Green Dogs albums for major label MCA, “Star” (1999) and “Super California” (2001). But their own measures of success were still decidedly underground: “Once Junior Vasquez played our records at Sound Factory [in New York], we felt like we could retire, and at that point we were like 20,” says Oscar. In March 2000, Space opened in downtown Miami with Oscar as the Saturday night resident, just as the world was paying its annual visit for Winter Music Conference. The club – with its cavernous main room, pummeling German sound system and nitrogen blasts – was the talk of dance world, and the legend of Oscar's residency began to grow. The year 2003 was a big one. Oscar released the “Live @ Space” (Star 69) compilation, and won the Club World Award for “Best Resident DJ” (which he won again in 2007). Murk set a new Billboard Dance chart record, with five No. 1's in a single year: Four singles from their self-titled artist album on Tommy Boy Records, and “Dark Beat” (Twisted), tribal house's first real vocal anthem, which found its way from dance floors onto mainstream radio. “We came up with ‘Dark Beat' in about 15 minutes. Whenever things come that quickly, you know there's something to them,” says Oscar. “But we didn't think radio or anthem; we were thinking more like, ‘Oh man, Danny Tenaglia's gonna be all over this!'” In 2006, Oscar became one of Pacha New York's only non-NY-based monthly residents, strengthening his bond with his home-away-from-home, and its rich dance history. He released a second installment in the Space series in 2007, starting new relationships with Nervous Records in the U.S. and CR2 in the U.K. CR2 also snapped up the Murk catalog, and commissioned new remixes of the classic tracks, including Paul Woolford's takes on “If You Really Love Someone” and “Reach For Me.” And in 2008, after nearly two decades making music, Oscar released out his first solo album, “Innov8” (Nervous). Last year Oscar released a mixed CD “Beats” on Nervous Records and working with his Murk partner Ralph Falcon produced one of the undergrounds anthem of 2012 – Amame – which was released worldwide on Defected. He and Ralph also re-activated the seminal label Murk Records. Even though his passion for music creation is undeniable, it's in his DJ booth where Oscar feels most at home. “On the music side, I've felt pretty energized lately, because the changes in the industry really enable you to be a lot more experimental and take more chances,” he says. “But DJ-ing to me always comes first: I really believe in it as an art form. Having a residency like Space, with a regular crowd, it's the ultimate.”

HOUSE JET RADIO VOL.400 SPECIAL GUESTS: @THECUBEGUYS (MILAN, ITALY) SOCIAL MEDIA: W]: www.thecubeguys.com [SC]: @thecubeguys [BP]: www.beatport.com/artist/the-cube-guys/7091 [TW]: www.twitter.com/thecubeguys [FB]: www.facebook.com/thecubeguys [YT]: www.youtube.com/user/thecubeguystv [RA]: www.residentadvisor.net/dj/thecubeguys THE CUBE GUYS is a club undertaking that was born in 2005 between two of the most prominent producers in Italy: Roberto Intrallazzi and Luca Provera. Although their backgrounds and professional training differs, their common desire to release new productions and contribute to the international club scene is equivalent. Together, they combine their previous experiences and endeavors to launch a fresh and innovative musical journey! Roberto Intrallazzi began his musical career in the latter part of the 80’s and beginning of the 90’s as part of one of the most successful projects of the ‘made in Italy’ dance era, F.P.I. Project. Their track ‘Rich in Paradise’ received worldwide acclaim and was one of the first house music releases to come out of Italy. Over the 90’s decade, his sound evolved into more like ‘house’ of today with influences from electro of the 80’s. The combination of the strong energy and search for new rhythms typical of the 80’s along with the contemporary minimal-electronic sound further assisted with the development of Roberto’s style. In 2000, Roberto Intrallazzi met the DJ and producer, Luca Provera who matched Roberto’s knowledge of music and technology. Luca got involved with music at a very young age by building his own recording studio and becoming familiar with the technicalities of making music. Luca utilized computers, mixers, samplers, and keyboards to launch his career as a producer and sound designer; employing both digital and analog equipment. Luca later went on to produce a private Italian radio show and together with the artist Intrallazzi produced the album ‘The Pleasure is All Mine’ by Kym Mazelle. His radio and recording studio know-how led him to quickly gain familiarity with both the software and hardware necessary to produce quality house music. He isn’t just a quality producer however he is also a well-known DJ who plays frequently in alternative venues in Italy and all over the world. DJING: 1 mixer... and 4 hands... playing Back 2 Back! The Cube Guys know how to make the dancefloor go wild spawning miraculous moments. Continually striving to bring an animated, floor shaking, and diversified attitude to their productions and performances, The Cube Guys draw inspiration from cutting-edge nuances in technology and the international clubbing community. Combining house with tech elements and Vocal contributions, The Cube guys steadily persevere to emerge and mature on an international level. Taking part in some of the most eminent and influential parties and clubs globally, The Cube Guys have managed to disassociate themselves from the masses. PRODUCTIONS AND REMIXES: The Cube Guys sound has traveled all around the globe with recognition from Mark Knight, Pete Tong, Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, Chus & Ceballos, Prok & Fitch, Mike Vale, David Penn, Atfc, Ralph Falcon, Oscar G, Erick Morillo, Dj Boris, David Morales, Hector Romero, and many other big names. The Cube Guys' have managed to chart every single on of their releases and have been selected and licensed by the most important international record companies. Day after day they receive requests to have their special 'touch' on new productions and these requests are constantly multiplying. Some of the artists they have remixed include: Anastacia, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Steve Angello, Moloko, Coolio, Luciana, Ultra Nate, Roger Sanchez, Bob Sinclar, Suzanne Palmer, India, Romathony, Shawn Christopher, Ralph Falcon, Fish Go Deep, Yello.

I'm A House Gangster presents The Gangstercast

Since 1991,Oscar G., along with partner Ralph Falcon stormed the world of dance music as Murk, releasing a string of underground classics that would forever hold them a place in the history of House music. We therefore couldn’t wish for a more exciting guest to have on episode 34 of The Gangstercast. As one half of the Murk, Oscar G. has remixed the likes of pop stars such as Madonna, Seal, Donna Summer, Jennifer Lopez and Pet Shop Boys, while Murk have been responsible for eight Billboard #1's including club anthems such as "Fired Up" and the ever popular "Dark Beat". He is in high demand as a songwriter having won 4 ASCAP songwriter awards with Ralph Falcon. His success as a producer/songwriter aside, Oscar's true passion remains DJing, and it’s a real honour to have him lay down an exclusive mix for us. Oscar says, “This mix is an example of how I don't fit into any genre boxes…House,Techno and then some. I try to tell a story in my sets, take people for a ride, this is a small taste of that. I like to select music as I am mixing, so I just basically feel it out as I go. The mix includes our new DJ Sneak & Murk collaboration titled "To The Bassline". The song features vocals by my talented friends El Chino Dreadlion and Leslie Cartaya. It is out now on Exploited Records.” Oscar is regarded as "one of the most exciting DJs in the world" by Mixer magazine and having played at legendary venues like Ministry of Sound in London, Pacha in Ibiza, Yellow in Tokyo, Echoes in Italy and Twilo and Vynil in New York, the passion he has had since the age of 12 remains in tact. Asked about what the House Gangster movement and sound represent to him, Oscar replies, “It means a certain vibe and a certain attitude. It means Sneakishness! [It’s] Toasted chunks of filth. And [House Music] means a lifetime commitment..a never ending love affair.”

Nelson’s Commitment to music comes from early in his childhood years , when he began playing guitar and percussion while involved with various rock , punk, funk, and jazz bands. Much of his deep knowledge of music comes from years of working at local record stores Such as Spec’s , Uncle Sams Music Cafe , and Virgin Megastore. It has all carried over to the present , as he is now working on his own exclusive DJ-tracks and using Traktor Scratch with over 4,000 records on file . All this while being the creator and event coordinator for the highly successful Miami Meets Detroit WMC BBQ , held annually during the Miami Winter Music Conference (1999-2005), showcasing artists such as Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Stryke, Phoenecia (aka Soul Oddity) , Sean Deason , Terrence Parker, DJ Minx, Alton Miller, The Beatdown Sounds Crew, DJ T-1000 , Matthew Dear, DJ Rolando “The Aztec Mystic”, Murk (Oscar G & Ralph Falcon), and Magda. “Pornograph Events”, Nelson’s vision for Miami’s local scene went a step further, by showcasing artists such as: Derrick May, Stacey Pullen, Bryan Zentz, DJ Rolando, Kevin Saunderson and Lee Burridge outside of the “WMC” week. In a Market driven by TOP 40, Hip Hop, and Mash Ups, Pornograph Events, was one of THE FIRST and ONLY outlets for UNDERGROUND DANCE MUSIC in South Florida! Nelson’s latest partnership brings him together with a bright young prducer from Los Angeles, CA. Los Angeles based Luis Rosario and Miami based Nelson Fernandez (DJ Nova), have come together to form Ds and Cs. A derivative from their heritage, Dominicans and Cubans. Both shared similar influences as Detroit Techno bridged the gap between their coasts. Both share over a decade of DJ experience crossing dance venues coast to coast. As solo production artists, they continue to push their growing sound, Ds and Cs music production however, is a mix of old school and nu school creating a unique but modern day sound. With obvious ties to Detroit, their sound digs into those influences and creates a new feel. Keep your eye on this young DJ/Producer as he propells Miami to the cutting edge of electronic music!!

Patrick M is back once again to the terrace podcast . Now considered a regular in Miami's weekly party circuit, Patrick M. is currently best known for perpetuating this city's reputation in the contended world of dance music. His, is currently a marathon network of parties that each lead to the ultimate definition of ‘having a fantastic night out.' Stocked with a full armoire of lounging-it-up- pass-me-a drink, or get-up-and-dance-like-nobody's-watching kind of music, he has added a new meaning to the concept of spinning, making and selling records. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, he led the way there for house music and dance DJ culture during the 1990's. His forward sound became his trademark serving up dance floors with his brand of twisted, deep, tribal house. As a DJ, he gained notoriety quickly at South American hotspots like Buenos Aires News, El Divino and Pacha's Clubland, where he played side by side with the likes of Global Underground superstars Hernan Cattaneo and Lee Burridge. Patrick M. was able to help pave the way for electronic music in Argentina and can be credited for lending a hand in putting this hometown on the global map of dance music. While continuing on this endeavor, he has performed at massive dance events in this country such as Creamfields in 2005, where he spun the turntables wild in front of over 45,000 enthusiasts. With bigger expectations and musical ambitions, Patrick M. set his eyes on South Florida in 2003. It wasn't long before Miami Beach's sandy shores and progressive club culture would call his name. Monthly bookings in Miami have ensured his success for years to come. Opportunity knocked even louder on South Beach as he joined up with Buenos Aires based music store Chopin Hagen in introducing their Miami concept Grooveman Music. The store serves as the primary supplier of dance music and dirty house in South Florida. His knowledge in music has led him to become the supplier of the "Miami Sound" to many of the DJs and producers that make this their home including Oscar G, Robbie Rivera and Cedric Gervais, among many others. Miami became the next phase in Patrick M's DJ and production career. Crobar, and Nikki Beach have all taken to his style in the past three years and made him a welcome resident in what the world knows as "club land." Eric Prydz, Behrouz, Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez, Yousef, Ralph Falcon, Steve Lawler and a special friendship with the likes of Danny Tenaglia and Erick Morillo has allowed him to ultimately team-up on the decks to deliver brutal blows to the masses around the world. Whether he's taming the decks in his new residence at Club Space's infamous patio, Patrick M. redefines success through fantastically infectious parties every week. The latter has developed wicked deck alliances with DJs such as Austin Leeds, Axwell, Nic Fanciulli, David Guetta and many more, being that this is Miami's most fabulous party under the sun. Among Patrick M's growing list of studio productions, “Hulk” on CR2 Records was released in 2008 when he joined forces with Dj Wady with remixes by Steve Lawler. This late night dirty stumper has been setting off dance floors and played by big names of that year. Stay tuned for more about Patrick's DJ gigs, tours and new release coming in the next few months. With Patrick M, there's no signs of stopping, no sign of slowing down at this point. As a DJ and producer, his message screams loud and clear to the people he's reached on the dance floor and in the industry " I'm HERE, LISTEN UP!" When you think of most stories ending, this ones just beginning for this superstar, making the world dance.

DJ Pete Savas presents

With temperatures cresting 100 in many parts of the country, there's no let up on the dance floor either! The "heat" started right after this year's Winter Music Conference in Miami. The music just started streaming out from the labels, one hot song, one floor-filler after another. You have to know I wanted to release podcast after podcast filled with tunes from all the artists who's names are part of our everyday conversations: Madonna, Maria, Beyoncé and her sister Solange, the Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Pink, Lady GaGa (who's first single, "Just Dance," I actually disliked intensely), the Ting Tings, Kelly Clarkson, Wynona (yes, THAT Wynona, the country music star, Wynona Rider)... Hell, even the boys got in on the act: U2, the Pet Shop Boys, David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias... I mean it was literally non-stop with all the great tunes that kept coming and coming and coming... Unfortunately, I was so busy with the Gay Internet Radio Live (G.I.R.L.) GayDays contest, I didn't have time to use all of that great stuff in podcasts with the exception of my final-round set, Episode 25 of "Press Play" (while the rest of my entries can be heard in the streaming media player on my Website at www.dj-jester.com). But now, summer is upon us. We're all out celebrating Pride, and there's still plenty of great new stuff filling my DJ bag! Rather than go back a few months and sound like an FM radio station, I thought I'd make it up to you with the most current stuff I could get my hands on. So here you go: new music from Beyoncé, Whitney, the Pussycat Dolls, U2, David Guetta, Agnes (winner of the Swedish edition of "American Idol"), Sophia May, Bellatrax, Erica Jayne, and even a couple of less-familiar names like Chris Kaeser and Ralph Falcon. Some of these tunes have already hit #1; others are destined to be there within the next month-or-two. But anyway you want to look at it, these tunes are top-of-the-chart right now, and are likely to keep summer clubbing on fire! So get out your fan, turn up the air conditioning, and grab a large Sweet Tea from Mickey-D's, 'cause you're gonna need it! This one's definitely a "Scorcher!"

We have finally reached the end of 2002…yippee!  I think going forward, I'll split the annual editions up.  For instance, when I get around to 2003, I'll post the first three mixes one week, and the remaining volumes an alternate week about a month later.  Personally, I think posting everything all at once is a little too much, not to mention the time it takes to put it all together.  Regardless, I won't be doing 2003 anytime soon.  Instead, I'll probably do something like another 90s edition, but that won't be until July or so. In the meantime, I'm serving up the remainder of all that was good in 2002.  I do want to make one little side note that the classic “At Night” by Shakedown didn't make the cut because I couldn't work it in.  I wanted to mention it, so as not to think I had forgotten.  In fact, back in the day, I had made what I like to call the “orgasmic mix” of this song.  I always thought it needed a little something and the female moans starting in the middle to the end just seemed appropriate for the song.  I put this out on the net and the next thing I know it's was put to vinyl as a White Label release.  It kinda made me feel proud that people were diggin it, so one little pat on the back for me. Once again, I've managed to pack in some monster tracks from the year.  We have the alternate Moony track by DB Boulevard “Point of View.”  The Lange mix was a big ole trance number that I preferred over the more subdued house version of the original.  Then who could forget the big room tribal of “Dark Beat” by Oscar G. and Ralph Falcon?  Massive is what this song was and the Guisseppe D ‘Hands in the Air Anthem' was just that…a full out anthem.  Other big monsters were Mary J. Blige's “No More Drama” which by all accounts was about the drama, Kevin Aviance's “Alive” and the smoldering “You Got Me (Burnin' Up) by Funky Green Dogs.  Aside from you mainstream re-works by Daniel Bedingfield, Laura Pausini, Anastacia and Paulina Rubio we have some seriously addictive dark underground house by Cassius and Puretone.  “The Sound of Violence” was definitely dark and sinister while “Addicted to Bass” was just pure fun. With it's diversity in all things electronic, I believe 2002 was an outstanding year for club music.  Memories is what these mixes are made of and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them.  I'm going to be taking a few days off to re-charge my batteries.  I had held up the release of the BPM edition because there wasn't much worth putting together, even a month ago.  I can honestly say, that's all changed.  I've got a folder chalk full of new promos begging to be heard.  I'll try to go through them sometime this weekend.  My goal is to keep it down to no more than three mixes, so in order to make the cut, the song has to really hit me by the third note or it ends up in the recycle bin.  I'm going to relax a bit before heading out to the gym.  Rick and I will be going to see Star Trek later this afternoon.  I can hardly wait!  Two weeks later we get Terminator.  I guess I'm showing you guys my inner geek, but I love sci-fi and am particularly excited to see how they've moved a 40-year-old franchise forward.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll be back sometime next week with the next BPM edition.  Until then…enjoy!
