#298 Where Can Real Peace be Found? – a yogic perspective

Yoga Wisdom with Acharya das

In a powerful and thought-provoking talk delivered in Sydney, Australia, Acharya das explores the dramatic transformation of human consciousness in the modern age and asks a confronting question: Why, despite unprecedented technological advancement and material comfort, are so many people experiencing anxiety, emptiness, and hopelessness? Drawing on alarming statistics surrounding depression, mental health crises, and the growing despair among younger generations, he presents a compelling analysis of a society that has become increasingly disconnected from inner peace and spiritual purpose.Acharya das examines the profound psychological impact of modern technology, social media, and smartphone culture, revealing how people are not only consumers in the digital economy — but have themselves become the product. He explains how algorithms, data collection, and constant stimulation shape human behavior, fuel dissatisfaction, and intensify mental disturbance. He further critiques the institutionalization of greed and envy within modern economic systems, arguing that many societies actively cultivate endless consumption and comparison as drivers of economic growth, often at great cost to human wellbeing.Contrasting this modern condition with the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-gītā, Acharya das offers a deeply hopeful alternative vision of life. He explains the yogic understanding that true peace does not arise from endlessly pursuing material desires, but from awakening spiritual consciousness and recognizing our deeper identity beyond the temporary body and restless mind. Using profound spiritual insights and practical guidance, he concludes by presenting meditation and mantra chanting as transformative daily practices capable of restoring clarity, balance, and genuine inner peace. This illuminating presentation challenges conventional assumptions about happiness and progress while offering practical spiritual wisdom for anyone seeking meaning, resilience, and lasting peace in an increasingly restless world.Chapters 00:00:00 Introduction: The Unprecedented Transformation of Human Consciousness ‎ 00:03:58 The Smartphone Revolution and Loss of Human Connection ‎ 00:06:15 The Economic Value of Peace and Generational Despair ‎ 00:10:25 Misconceptions About Peace as a Commodity ‎ 00:14:19 The Surveillance and Exploitation of Smartphone Users ‎ 00:18:52 The Scale of Digital Advertising and Tech Company Revenue ‎ 00:20:56 The Rise of Self-Centeredness and the Selfie Culture ‎ 00:26:31 Historical Analysis: The Century of Self-Centeredness ‎ 00:30:34 The Origins of Consumer Culture and Propaganda ‎ 00:35:28 The Deliberate Shift from Needs to Desires Culture ‎ 00:39:21 Economic Theory Promoting Envy and Greed ‎ 00:41:40 Economic Critique and the Seeds of Destruction ‎ 00:43:44 The Promise of Happiness Through Consumption ‎ 00:46:58 The Influencer Economy and Children's Aspirations ‎ 00:48:45 Ancient Yogic Wisdom: The Alternative Perspective ‎ 00:52:52 The Necessity of Transcendental Connection ‎ 00:54:38 The Fundamental Spiritual Principle‎ 00:57:07 The Illusion of Physical Identity ‎ 00:58:58 The Reality of Mortality and Spiritual Identity ‎ 01:00:39 Spiritual Nutrition and Meditation Practice ‎ 01:03:19 Conclusion: The Path to Genuine Peace

Peace Advocates Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino and Dr. Katie Eastman Bestselling authors and global peace advocates Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino and Dr. Katie Eastman announce the release of The Peace Guidebook: How to Cultivate Hope, Healing, and Harmony for the Good of Humankind, publishing April 21, 2026 by Health Communications Inc and Simon & Schuster – available now for pre order on major retail platforms. With a powerful foreword by Rev. Mpho A. Tutu van Furth, the book opens with a compelling invitation to reimagine peace not as a distant ideal, but as a living, breathing presence in our daily lives. “This book is a call to action and a call to calm. It is a reminder that peace begins within each of us. Every person matters, every voice has value, and no one has to walk this journey alone,” says Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino and Dr. Katie Eastman. A Practical Guide for Real Peace in Real Life In The Peace Guidebook, Hamilton Guarino and Eastman challenge the belief that peace is passive or only possible during calm moments. Instead, they present peace as an active, daily practice, one that can be cultivated through grief, change, burnout, and uncertainty. “Peace is not the absence of pain, it is the presence of alignment,” stated authors Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino and Dr. Katie Eastman. “It is how we live with grace, even when things fall apart.” The book introduces ten transformational principles, including Presence, Patience, Partnership, and Perseverance, alongside practical tools, real life stories, and guided exercises to help readers integrate peace into their everyday lives. Peace in Action: From Personal Practice to Global Movement The Peace Guidebook is part of the broader Percolate Peace Project, a global initiative aiming to inspire one million people to embrace peace as a way of life. “This is more than a book,” the authors emphasize. “It is a call to action, a blueprint for personal and collective transformation.” About the Percolate Peace Project – Our Movement for Global Peace The Percolate Peace Project is a global initiative to help 1 million people cultivate and spread peace—starting from within. In this episode of The Andrew Parker Show, Andrew Parker takes a direct and unfiltered look at one of the most critical geopolitical questions facing the world today: is a real peace deal with Iran possible—or are we simply delaying the next war?Building on ongoing tensions and recent negotiations, Andrew breaks down why traditional diplomacy may not apply in this case. He examines the history of failed agreements, including the nuclear deal, and argues that the current Iranian regime operates under a fundamentally different framework—one that challenges the very premise of lasting peace. The discussion goes deeper, exploring the broader implications for Israel, the Middle East, global financial markets, and U.S. strategic interests. From the role of radical ideology to shifting dynamics in Syria, Lebanon, and the potential expansion of regional peace agreements, Andrew outlines what is at stake if the moment is mishandled. He also addresses the political divide in the United States, analyzing how both parties are responding—and what that means for the future of leadership, security, and global stability. At its core, this episode asks a critical question: are we pursuing peace, or postponing conflict? This is a candid, thought-provoking conversation on politics, Israel, and the law.Support the showThe Andrew Parker Show - Politics, Israel & The Law.  Follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and X. Subscribe to our email list at www.theandrewparkershow.comCopyright © 2026 The Andrew Parker Show - All Rights Reserved.

He wasn't a monk. He wasn't a guru. He was just a regular guy… who finally found something that actually worked. Meet Mark Blacknell — Marine veteran, former Teamster, and a working-class kid from Philadelphia's "Dirty Darby." The kind of guy built on adrenaline… solving problems the hard way… never slowing down. But behind that tough exterior? A silent war. For over 20 years, he battled PTSD, anxiety, depression— moving from place to place, losing stability, facing jail time, divorce, and more close calls than he could count. Rock bottom wasn't a moment. It was a lifestyle. Until one day… something unexpected happened. A friend handed him a small book on meditation. No hype. No promises. No "life-changing secrets." Just one message: Stop talking. Start practicing. At first, he didn't buy it. But something about the simplicity… cut through the noise. No performance. No pretending. Just showing up… and sitting down. Five quiet minutes at a time. That's where everything changed. Today, Mark is known for the "Stare at the Wall" practice— a raw, no-nonsense approach to stillness designed for real people living real lives. No fluff. No spirituality theater. Just discipline, presence, and consistency. And his message is simple: If I can come back from that… so can you. Because peace doesn't come from escaping your life— It comes from finally facing it… one quiet moment at a time. self improvement, mental health, PTSD recovery, meditation for beginners, discipline, mindfulness, veteran story, anxiety help, depression recovery, real life transformation, daily habits https://stareatthewall.org/home-262975

Let me know your thoughts on the show and what topic you would like me to discuss next.If your house is calm but your heart feels far, you might be living under a truce, not peace. We unpack how a conflict-free home can still be ruled by avoidance—and why that quiet erodes trust when hard topics never see daylight. From the subtle ways we deflect vulnerability to the patterns that teach spouses and kids to self-edit, we trace how “later” becomes “never,” and how logistics slowly replace intimacy. We get practical about rebuilding emotional availability. You'll hear clear signs that functional distance has taken root—like when conversations stick to schedules, solutions, and surface updates—and simple ways to shift back toward connection. We model presence over problem-solving, share language that keeps tough talks open (“Do you want ideas or just company?”), and explain why imperfect timing is still the right time for honesty. You'll learn how to sit with uncertainty, tolerate uncomfortable pauses, and invite feedback without getting defensive. This conversation is a wake-up call for partners and parents who want more than orderly routines. Real peace asks more of us: curiosity instead of control, attention instead of advice, and the courage to name what's been avoided.  And Flowers Grew up Through the Concrete is Laurence McKeown's second prison memoir. Big Laurny, is a very fine writer. This latest book is an account of his journey through imprisonment, hunger strike, brutality and growing self-awareness. It is beautifully written and unashamedly honest in its emotion.Laurence is one of those gifted republican POWs who spent years – decades in some cases – in British prisons and who have written about their experience. Together they have generated a huge body of prison literature comparable to previous periods in the independence struggle.Among them are Eoghan MacCormaic and Jazz Jim McCann; Pat Magee; Gerry Kelly; Síle Darragh's inspirational account of the women in Armagh - ‘John Lennon Is Dead'; Danny Morrison, Roseleen Walsh; Tony Doherty, Chrissie McAuley, Jim McVeigh; Jake MacSachais, Richard McAuley and others. I apologise to any I have left out - always a danger when you produce a list of any kind.Perhaps the best known of all the prison writers is Bobby Sands whose poems, songs and accounts of life in the H-Blocks and on Hunger Strike still resonate over four decades after his death. Writing on scraps of paper to be smuggled out, Bobby's poetry, prose, political polemic, songs and other writings in Irish and English are now part of the tradition.Laurence's previous books include, with Brian Campbell and Felim O'Hagan, ‘Nor Meekly Serve My Time” which covers the blanket protest from 1976 to 1981; ‘Out of Time: Irish Republican Prisoners Long Kesh 1972-2000'; and with Brian Campbell the script for the film H3. A Real Peace Settlement NeededLast week the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Irish state. In the course of his meetings President Zelensky also addressed the Oireachtas in which he called for a peace without humiliation. His visit came at a time when there is widespread speculation that the US government is pressuring Ukraine to accept a peace deal that would force it to cede land to Russia. My starting point as a republican is clear. The people of Ukraine have a right to self-determination and the Russian invasion is a breach of international law. With Russia intensifying its drone attacks on Ukraine, especially its targeting of civilian infrastructure like energy, health care and water, there is an urgent need for an intensification of the peace efforts.  Gearóid Ó CairealláinReáchtáladh deireadh seachtaine d'imeachtaí in An Chultúrlann cúpla lá ó shin chun Gearóid Ó Cairealláin, a fuair bás anuraidh, a chomóradh agus chun ár meas a léiriú dá fhís agus dá chrógacht. This episode is part of The Anatomy of Divorce segment, I unpack one of the most overlooked skills in separation - perspective. When life turns upside down after divorce, your brain goes into survival mode. You loop old arguments, replay stories, and grip tightly to being understood. But sometimes the shift you need most isn't fixing them - it's seeing them differently. I share how understanding your biology, practising perspective-taking, and embracing Mel Robbins' Let Them Theory can help you calm your nervous system, make clearer decisions, and protect your peace. You'll also learn my six-step Perspective Check, a simple, science-backed tool to help you step out of reactivity and back into clarity. This is an episode for anyone who's ready to stop explaining, start exhaling, and find real freedom after divorce. In this episode, I talk about: Why your brain goes into survival mode after separation; How looping thoughts keep you trapped in pain; The psychology of perspective taking and how it helps regulate emotions; A six-step framework to widen your lens without losing your boundaries; The 90-second de-flare technique for calmer communication; What the Let Them Theory can teach us about emotional release and self-preservation; The difference between letting go and giving up; Why peace comes from perception, not permission. At today's Interactive Midweek Service, Pastor Colins Nwosu continued in the Real Peace series with the message The Gift of Peace. Drawing from John 14:27, he reminded us that peace is not something we manufacture, it is a divine gift from Christ Himself. Unlike the fragile and fleeting peace the world offers, this peace is enduring, sustaining, and unshakable even in life's storms. Pastor Colins highlighted from Galatians 5:22 that peace is also a fruit of the Spirit, cultivated in believers who walk closely with God. Looking at Matthew 8:23–27, he showed how Jesus demonstrated His authority over the winds and waves, proving that real peace is not the absence of trouble but God's presence and power in the midst of it. He also reminded us from Matthew 5:9 that peacemakers are called the children of God, underscoring the responsibility to carry this gift into our relationships and environments. He closed with Matthew Henry's timeless quote: *“Peace is such a precious jewel that I would give anything for it but truth,”* reminding us that real peace flows only from God's truth. This teaching reminded us that peace is not passive; it is active, powerful, and transformative. It is God's gift to His children, designed to keep us steady, joyful, and victorious in all circumstances.

In this episode of More Than Commas, Cory explores one of the most overlooked roles of a financial advisor: protecting clients from their own instincts. It's not just about picking investments or predicting the market, it's about acting as a guardrail when fear and desire tempt us into costly mistakes. Cory illustrates how emotions drive poor financial decisions, from panic-selling during downturns to chasing trends at market peaks. Advisors provide perspective, discipline, and strategy, ensuring clients stay aligned with their long-term goals. Using vivid analogies, Cory shows how advisors add real value, especially during turbulent times. He challenges listeners to rethink what they expect from an advisor, focusing less on promised returns and more on partnership, clarity, and peace of mind in building a life that truly matters.   -- Timestamps: 00:50 – March 2020: emotions vs. the market 01:40 – Fear, desire & behavioral finance traps 02:50 – Advisors as guardrails against bad decisions 04:10 – Why outside perspective matters in money decisions 05:20 – Guardrails, budgets & freedom through discipline 06:40 – Advisors as chefs: strategy vs. randomness 07:50 – Final takeaway: advisors help you live better, not just invest better   -- This Material is Intended for General Public Use. Continuing in the Real Peace series, Pastor Femi Paul shared this timely word he entitled Peace & Prosperity. Drawing from Psalm 122:7, he taught that Peace and Prosperity are not separate blessings but deeply connected keys to fulfilment in life. True well-being means being happy, healthy, and prosperous, and it flows from living in Peace. He reminded us of the “PPP” formula = Peace + Prosperity + Progress; as God's plan for His people. PFP then prayed over the church from Psalm 29:11 and John 16:33, declaring the blessing of peace, strength, and divine confidence in the midst of life's challenges.

At our Interactive Midweek Service, Pastor Femi Paul continued the series Real Peace, Peace of Heart and Mind with a message titled A Fragile Peace. He contrasted the illusory peace of the world, fragile, unstable, and easily disrupted, with the enduring peace that Christ gives. Worldly peace can quickly collapse under trials and frustrations, but the peace of Christ holds steady even in the face of storms (John 14:27, John 16:33). True peace is not fragile but solid, flowing from a mind anchored in God and His promises (Isaiah 26:3). It comes from learning Christ's way of humility and rest (Matthew 11:29), and trusting Him beyond circumstances. PFP urged us to reject fragile peace and embrace the perfect, unshakable peace of God that secures both heart and mind under every condition.

At today's Testimony and Thanksgiving Service, Pastor Femi Paul shared a powerful message titled Real Peace, Peace of Heart and Mind. Drawing from John 16:33, he reminded us that while the world offers tribulations, frustrations, and fleeting comfort, Jesus gives a peace that is complete, unshakable, and permanent. This peace is not fragile or circumstantial but a divine gift that steadies the heart and mind, in every season of life. Real peace is proof of real faith in God. It anchors the soul, guards the mind, and ushers in the power of God in ways human reasoning cannot explain. As believers, we are called to embrace this peace, refuse anxiety, and live confidently in Christ who has already overcome the world. Peace of heart and mind is not only possible, it is our inheritance through Christ Jesus.
