A huge fight ensues with Oracle supplying help via drones. But when Dinah moves in front of the window, she's hit by a sniper's bullet. Meanwhile in the magical streets of The Seam, Big Barda continues her battle with the golems. She smashes them only for them to reform. No problem. She opens a boom tube to the moon and hits or tosses them through. She grabs their controller, Barter, and threatens to do the same to him unless he tells her how many others are after Batgirl and Constantine. Elsewhere in The Seam, the demon controlled Constantine continues it's attempt to get Batgirl to free it from it's bonds. Needless to say she's not even tempted. When the final golems attack, Batgirl smashes them then separates the parts by tossing them in various stores and barrels along the road. Back at the Lake House, Sin loses it when Dinah is shot at goes full Megaera, with green light blasting out of her and tendrils all doing their thing. She, or is it they, float out of the roof and threaten the League of Shadows, or whatever splinter cell this is, that they better gather their fallen and leave or she will take them apart. She further threatens to end them if she ever sees them again. Afterward Sin returns to care for Dinah. Dinah is worried if the being who just threatened the attackers was Sin or all Megaera. Sin isn't sure and Dinah reassures her they will find someone who can help. Back in The Seam, Batgirl and the demon infested Constantine reach the portal where the demon must be deposited. She rebuffs it again and is about to toss it in when Barda arrives to kick it through. A few moments later, the freed Constantine returns to the street. Dinah and Sin settle down to watch the sun rise at the Lake House. Sin expresses another concern. Some of the League of Shadows assassins she threatened appeared to be happy. She's possibly given them something new to covet: Megaera.

Bad Company hit the scene in 1974 in a big way. Signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song label and managed by Peter Grant, the supergroup composed of Paul Rodgers (Free), Mick Ralphs (Mott the Hoople), Boz Burrell (King Crimson) and Simon Kirke (Free) had a huge success with their self-titled debut which would go on to sell 5 million in the US. Many bands struggle to follow up a big debut with an equally good second effort but Bad Company weren't rookies and had made over a dozen albums individually. The question was how would the songwriting partnership of Ralphs and Rodgers develop and would any of them as individuals emerge as the lead songwriter. While not many will tell you Straight Shooter is as good or better than the debut, it is a solid rock record. Chart hits Feel Like Makin' Love and Good Lovin' Gone Bad got them all over the airwaves and Rodgers Shooting Star would go onto become a classic rock radio staple. They even showed their tender side with Simon Kirke's Weep No More (accompanied by strings) and Anna. Heavy riffs from Deal With The Preacher and the innuendo of Wild Fire Woman help round the album into an album that showed Bad Company had staying power and could deliver the goods. Released March 28, 1975, it would go on to sell 3 million in the US. Do you think Bad Company deserves to be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? We do!!! By 1985, Eric Clapton's storied career seemed to be flaming out. The Rock God status he'd attained in the 60s with The Yardbirds and Cream and maintained as a solo artist in the 70s had started to wane thanks to inconsistent records, drugs and alcohol. His previous record, Money and Cigarettes, lacked hits and failed to go gold - his first for Warner Brothers. Needing a success in the days of MTV and synthesizers, he turned to Phil Collins who had the magic touch at this time (listen to UAWIL 220 on No Jacket Required). And though they had fun in Montserrat recording the album, all was not well. Eric was slowly but surely breaking up with Pattie Hanson - his wife, the inspiration for Layla and former wife of George Harrison. You can hear his lament on songs like Just Like A Prisoner and the title track. Despite the emotion he may have put into the tracks, Warner Bros weren't happy. So they teamed him up with one of their songwriters, Jerry Lynn Williams, and Van Halen producer Ted Templeman to craft a couple of hits in LA. The single Forever Man did top the mainstream rock charts in the US and helped the album go platinum. But Clapton seems uneasy with some of the synthesizer work and the songs written by others. Nonetheless, this record did bring him some needed success and attention which would lead to bigger achievements in the late 80s, the early 90s and beyond. Released March 11, 1985, we thought this one is an interesting inflection point in Clapton's catalog and worthy of a look as it turns 40. PART THREE. In Canada there is a stretch of highway between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George that covers 725 km (or 450 miles). For over 50 years, this dark, isolated road has swallowed up women and girls in the night from 1969 to present. Because of the despair that has happened along this corridor, it is now known as the Highway of Tears. In this three-part series, we will be exploring this area and the devastating stories found alongside it. Spring, 1991. Thrash had hit its apex as a genre and was beginning the transition into what would become “the next wave” of thrash with a sound and identify located somewhere between the thrash, groove, and death metal genres. With SEPULTURA's 4th album, ARISE, emerging a mere 2 years after their 1989 thrash masterpiece, Beneath The Remains, the Brazilian metal shamans continued to refine and intensify the evolution of their sound, creating a veritable cocktail of extreme metal with new dimensions of heaviness, including tons of crushing riffs, creepy soft intros, and eerily dark harmonies. It's time to discover how “normal writing” identifies and hear what it sounds like when you take ayahuasca in the jungles of Brazil. Always remember to never “be an A word or a C word” and instead “be a blessing” because we are all struggling to cope in this new era of “middle evil”. Raise your standards and elevate yourself to something greater than leaping over a “one-inch hurdle” (like riding a bike to the mall 10 miles just to play “hide the finger” in a movie theater perhaps). Find out which song title we thought identified as “a slang term for the downstairs” and JOIN US on this journey of metal discourse as we dive into the next wave of thrash brutality that could only be identified as SEPULTURA's ARISE. In Canada, there is a stretch of highway between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George that covers 725 km (or 450 miles). For over 50 years, this dark, isolated road has swallowed up women and girls in the night from 1969 to present. Because of the despair that has happened along this corridor, it is now known as the Highway of Tears. In this three-part series, we will be exploring this area and the devastating stories found alongside it. Episode 54 - Logan Movie Review There's been a great deal of talk on social media over the last few weeks about WHO has been spotted on the set of the Deadpool film which is currently in principal photography. Someone we've known for some time that would be joining the merc with a mouth in his 3rd go-around was revealed months ago in a video with Ryan Reynolds - and that's Hugh Jackman. For Jackman, he's reprising the role of the adamantium claw wielding Wolverine from the X-Men. So this week, Guest host Luke and I are going to spend some time looking back at what we thought was Jackman's last performance as the Wolverine - the 2017 film Logan. Waking Up is a five part story set in Brooklyn NY in 2035. This is the second episode, titled "Tell Me Lies." Story: Waking Up is about a synthetic consciousness born trapped inside a human. It is an exploration of the science and spirituality of consciousness, as well as the fallibility of our subjective perception.Music: In some Vedic and Buddhist writing, consciousness is described as a vibration. The music seeks to explore the effects of two waves vibrating together.Production: Opportunities to express the "intelligent machine" concept were explored and used extensively in the production of Waking Up. For example, a custom MaxMSP patch was built to generate specific waveform melodies. Also, an AI model trained on Jenise Morgan's voice was used to create the computer commands heard in the middle of this episode. In fact, AI tools were used extensively, but notably -- every attempt with AI writing or composition failed miserably. The team is relieved that an artist's job isn't replaced quite yet. "Fragments" Team: Waking Up is written, composed, and produced by Ghan Patel. Story consultants: Jenise Morgan, Maria Teutsch, and Lauren Heagerty. Performed by Tali Hamilton, Jenise Morgan, and Ghan Patel. Engineering by Nathan Ward and Daniel Lynas. Album art by Joanna Gonzalez.Released March 17, 2023. Get access to the secret invite here.Read the story of how Jenna Posner became Chief Digital Officer at Snipes. In this episode of Fraudology, Karisse is joined once again by Assaf Kipnis, former Engineering Manager for Integrity Investigations at Meta (previously Facebook). For the 2nd half of this informative conversation, Assaf provides examples of how his team studied & identified the TTPs (Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures) of some of the most complex & pervasion threats to integrity he & his team discovered & dismantled over the last several years of his career. -Within this episode, Assaf particularly focuses on two of the most innovative threat tactics targeting legitimate users that his team dealt with: Inauthentic Behavior & Financially motivated scams. Some of the topics discussed include:How identifying the motivation & behavior of two schemes that may, on the surface seem similar is critical to get to the root cause & ban the behavior in the future; example: "mis-" or "dis-information" versus "inauthentic behavior". While these terms are often generalized as the former, when it comes to eradicating the behavior, the details of the differences are critically importantThe potential financial & reputational damage of "inauthentic behavior", and how focusing on behavior versus content is key when identifying coordinated attacksSlight detour to discuss the privilege of having an in-house engineering team for integrity investigations, some tips for what to do if these types of issues can't be solved in-house, the importance of "babysitting" machine learning, and a few cautionary tips when considering new partners for 3rd party detection The most pervasive & impactful financially motivated scams targeting social media platforms & users including "pig-butchering" (crypto scams that often target western citizens; typically originating in SE Asia), investment scams, and impersonation scams; how understanding the role & perspective that social media companies have on this behavior can be helpful in identifying the same attackers manipulating multiple systems for one overall crimeThis conversation is incredibly fascinating! Especially if you've ever wondered how complex, yet sophisticated the Trust & Safety team at Meta needs to be to stay on the frontlines of identifying new attacks no one has seen before. To connect with Assaf Kipnis directly: https://www.linkedin.com/in/assafkipnis/Links to Additional Information Mentioned by Karisse in the Intro:The "Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior Report" published by Meta in October 2020: https://about.fb.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Inauthentic-Behavior-Report-October-2020.pdfExamples of "Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior" that Assaf's team may have been responsible for detecting & disbanding:"Removing Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior from Iran, Russia, Macedonia, and Kosovo"; Released March 2019https://about.fb.com/news/2019/03/cib-iran-russia-macedonia-kosovo/"Removing Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior from Georgia, Vietnam, and the US"; released December...
