David Seaman of Alpha Cygni Asset Management and a seasoned emerging markets investor joins Progressive's Jeremy McKeown for a fascinating discussion with Sean Peche, the manager of the Ranmore Global Equity Fund. Sean recounts how he honed his value investing credentials at Orbis after qualifying as an accountant in South Africa and before launching Ranmore in London in 2008. Sean has a first-hand take on how capital flows have shaped equity values and built up today's imbalances. While relative value is not sufficient reason for capital to flow, it is a necessary pre-condition. Sean says there are now multiple reasons investors, typically fully loaded in the US market, want to recycle their capital. He talks about how he looks for value, why he has recently moved overweight in the UK, why emerging markets have many developed market characteristics, and why he doesn't meet the management of the companies he invests in. As he says, he can best objectively determine the effectiveness of management by watching what they do, not necessarily by listening to what they say. Sean delivers a master class on the principles of value investing combined with an acute sense of how the world is changing and how best to load up on asymmetric risk opportunities that will likely operate in his favour as we confront an unforecastable future.
Things are changing in global markets. There are noticeable shifts taking place. The world's capital is rotating. As always, many factors are at work, but we might be witnessing a once-in-a-generation shift away from US assets, which have recently dominated global capital allocations. Global investors are diversifying their portfolios. In a compelling keynote at the seventh BizNews Conference (BNC#7), Sean Peche, Founder and CEO of Ranmore Funds, shared his insights on the intricate nature of market cycles. He emphasized the psychological influences that drive investor behavior and the importance of understanding where we stand within these cycles. Peche presented a contrarian view, cautioning against the prevailing optimism in US markets and urging investors to consider diversification and historical patterns in their strategies. With an eye on the future, he outlined key factors that could influence market shifts and highlighted Ranmore Funds' approach to seizing opportunities across the globe. Following his keynote address, Sean Peche engaged in a dynamic Q&A session with Bronwyn Nielsen, offering sharp insights into global markets, investment strategies, and economic risks. He addressed concerns about asset valuations, inflationary pressures, and the pitfalls of passive investing. With a focus on rational decision-making and value-driven opportunities, Peche provided a compelling case for pragmatic, numbers-driven investing. His candid responses shed light on macroeconomic trends, corporate governance, and the future of wealth preservation in an uncertain world.
In this powerful episode, I'm joined by Kyle Peche, a Mineral Balancing Practitioner whose own chronic illness journey led him to uncover some of the most foundational—and often overlooked—keys to true healing. Together, we explore not only the science and soul of mineral balancing and HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis), but also the wide range of complementary therapies that helped Kyle go from debilitating symptoms to full-spectrum wellness. We go deep into the role of minerals as the spark plugs of the body, how HTMA testing can reveal hidden patterns of dysfunction, and why so many people chasing protocols and supplements never get to the root of their issues. But we don't stop there. This conversation opens up a holistic and empowering view of healing that includes:The importance of binders and proper detoxification (and how to do it safely)The nervous system's critical role in healing, especially for those with trauma or burnoutMindset shifts that helped Kyle move from victimhood to empowered self-leadershipThe often-unspoken identity work that's necessary when you've been sick for a long timeLetting go of the constant search for “the next thing” and learning to trust your body againKyle shares not only what worked for him, but what's helping his clients recover their energy, emotional clarity, digestive health, and sense of purpose. His grounded, relatable approach to healing reminds us that we don't need more overwhelm—we need the right tools, the right mentorship, and the courage to become sovereign in our own bodies.Whether you're just starting to explore root-cause healing or you're deep in the layers of detox, regulation, and identity reclamation, this episode will resonate deeply and leave you with tangible insights to apply on your own path.Copywrite @AmandaPanacea Free 15 mins clarity callhttps://l.bttr.to/cih5BProduct Linkhttps://shopmy.us/amandapanaceaWebsiteThehealerrevolution.comFREE Wellness & Product Guide:https://l.bttr.to/EPTYv How to FEEL course:https://l.bttr.to/UYOZGMCAS and histamine intolerance guidehttps://l.bttr.to/ivR0zAre you a practitioner or coach? When high-performing professionals hit the wall with brain fog and chronic fatigue, the solution isn't another supplement. After spending hundreds of thousands on treatments and trying over 100 supplements, Kyle Peche discovered a fundamental truth: we're attacking the problem in the wrong order. In this powerful Get Yourself Optimized episode, Kyle reveals: Why mineral balancing must come before detoxification How glyphosate and aluminum secretly sabotage your cognitive function The exact protocol that took him from sleeping 14 hours/day to peak performance Why most practitioners get the sequencing wrong (and how to do it right) If you're tired of band-aid solutions and ready for lasting transformation, this episode is your roadmap. Kyle shares the systematic approach that helped him recover from 7 years of chronic illness - and now helps others do the same.
Have you ever wondered how to properly detoxify your body? Do you start with killing off parasites or do you megadose a ton of green powders? Kyle Peche healed himself of major brain fog, food intolerances, skin rashes, chronic fatigue, anxiety, and panic attacks by learning the correct order to detox. In this episode we talk about how he uses hair tissue mineral analysis testing to assess someone's physical and psychological state, how to go about parasite cleansing, why glyphosate is an issue and what to do about it, why he thinks bile function is underrated, the difference between dumb and selective binders, practical ways to reduce exposure to electromagnetic radiation, how to detoxify microplastics, how to approach depersonalization, and lots more. UK-based Ranmore funds founder Sean Peche takes a contrarian approach to the ‘Black Swan' event threatening the South African economy, applauding the country for holding the line against US President Donald Trump. Likening Trump to former SA President Jacob Zuma, he predicts nothing but misery for Americans as a result of the US's aggressive actions - and has positioned the Ranmore portfolios to reflect this. Was meint Ihr? After identifying six flashing lights that have emerged in the past month, BizNews editor Alec Hogg is tapping into his investing “brains trust” for guidance on how to change the well performed model portfolios. The extraordinary performance of Palantir (bought for under $10, now over $60 - in a year and a half) has increased its stake in the portfolios to heavily overweight. In this interview, Ranmore's founder Sean Peche dispenses with the narratives and takes a (very) close look at the company's disclosed facts.

In this engaging interview, Ranmore Fund Manager Sean Peche shares candid insights with Bloomberg's Merryn Somerset Webb, challenging the traditional investment narrative. Peche discusses his approach to evaluating stocks without meeting management, the pitfalls of chasing tech stories like Nvidia, and why he believes in relying on hard numbers over compelling CEO stories. He highlights Ryanair's resilient performance, Petrobras' dividend power, and the risks of paying too much for future growth. With a focus on value investing, Peche emphasizes the importance of avoiding hype and sticking to fundamentals in an unpredictable market.
At the BizNews Investment Conference BNIC#1, fund manager Sean Peche sounded the alarm on overvalued US stocks and revealed where smart investors like Warren Buffett are hedging their bets. Highlighting the excessive hype around companies like Nvidia and Apple, Peche emphasized the need to diversify into underappreciated sectors, from European banks to emerging markets. In a Q&A session, he urged caution, stressing that familiar names don't guarantee safety, and savvy investors must look beyond the US to find true value in today's market. Peche's candid insights left attendees reconsidering their portfolios and eyeing global opportunities.
Ranmore founder Sean Peche specialises in finding cheap shares, often among the neglected small and medium-sized listed companies. He pays little attention to the ‘big news' like the surprise 50 basis point rate cut from the US Fed, preferring to focus on areas where he can see opportunities to buy low and sell high. Freshly returned to his UK base from BNIC#1, Peche identifies the star of that show (Mteto Nyati) and uses the advantage of fresh eyes to compare annual results just released by Discovery and Remgro. He spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

Top-ranked money manager Sean Peche is revelling in the current volatile stock markets with the turbulence “throwing up innocent bystanders” - stocks that can be nabbed at bargain prices. Among his favourites is a North American beer business run by a group of financially conservative South Africans who learned their trade at much admired SA Breweries. Peche also explains that investors should be paying close attention to Warren Buffett's sale of half of Berkshire Hathaway's Apple shares, previously its biggest single investment. He spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.
In a Q&A session at the BizNews London Conference, Alec Hogg and Sean Peche discussed investment strategies, focusing on the potential risks and benefits of current tech stocks and the importance of value investing. Peche emphasised the necessity of evaluating a company's intrinsic worth before investing and highlighted opportunities outside the U.S., particularly in undervalued European and emerging market stocks. He also addressed the challenges in forecasting long-term growth, the impact of geopolitical factors on investments, and the importance of avoiding speculative narratives.
At the BizNews Conference in London, Sean Peche, the founder of Ranmore, captivated the audience with humour and sharp insights. Sharing his journey from a challenging flight to profound investment strategies, he emphasised the cyclical nature of markets and the importance of recognising value traps. Highlighting opportunities beyond North America, he proposed bold ideas for revitalizing South Africa's economy through effective turnarounds and harnessing local entrepreneurial spirit. His engaging talk balanced investment wisdom with practical solutions, leaving attendees both entertained and enlightened.

During his Q&A session at BNC#6 in Hermanus, Sean Peche emphasised the importance of investing in growing businesses without overpaying, focusing on quality rather than deep value alone. He discussed European banks like ABN Amro and Barclays as attractive investments due to low valuations and dividends. Peche also mentioned his preference for Hong Kong-listed Chinese stocks like Alibaba and Baidu over US-listed ones due to regulatory risks. Despite political uncertainties, he remains focused on fundamentals rather than making investment decisions based on election outcomes.
In his keynote speech at BNC#6 in Hermanus, Ranmore's Sean Peche discussed the significance of AI in various industries, emphasising its role in data-driven decision-making. He highlighted how AI benefits food retailers by optimising inventory management and reducing wastage. Peche also examined AI's impact on banks, noting its role in cost reduction and improved services. Through cautionary tales of overvaluation in companies like Cisco and Sun Microsystems, he advised against speculative investing and advocated for steady growth investments.

The performance of the Ranmore Global Equity Fund in 2022-2023, run by London-based South African portfolio manager Sean Peche, ranked in the top 1% of a basket of 3,000 European/Asian/African global equity funds categorised by Morningstar. As Sean is keen to stress: past performance in no guarantee of future performance, but its 30% return after all costs in 2023 helped ensure the Fund's position since inception in 2008 is within the top quartile of similar funds. In this interview with Alec Hogg of BizNews, Peche explains that while guessing big trends is fun, the money gets made because of a strong investment process that exposes winning stocks at a micro level.
Every day, Ranmore Fund Management's founder and chief investment officer Sean Peche uses what he learned during many years at the proverbial knee of SA's greatest money manager, the late Dr Simon Marais. Those lessons include applying a tried and tested process of uncovering value - and working hard to avoid sectoral disasters. The result has been Ranmore's consistent outperformance over the past decade and a half, catapulting its fund into the world's top 1% performers. Now comes the best possible kind of recognition from SA peer Piet Viljoen, who is entrusting his firm's $27m global value fund to Peche's management. Peche spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.
One of the mantras of this podcast is to "Own Your Health;" while conventional modalities such as surgery are very helpful for addressing trauma, optimizing one's health requires a rigorous exploration of alternative approaches. This week's guest, Kyle Peche, demonstrates the benefits of "ripping up templates" in charting one's health journey, when the tried-and-true comes up short. After resolving his own 7 year health battle with chronic fatigue, brain fog, panic attacks, and other mysterious symptoms, Kyle developed a passion for healing others and alleviating their suffering as well. A certified Mineral-Nutritional Balancing Practitioner and founder of Jyoti Mineral Balancing, he now uses what he's learned about detoxification, mineral nutrition, hair analysis, and functional medicine to help others not only recover from mysterious ailments, but also regain an ability to “thrive” in their lives. We touch on numerous topics in this podcast, including: How Kyle's 7-year journey of disenchantment with traditional allopathic healthcare modalities and frustrating trial and error with holistic / alternative practices led him to find the effective missing link between gut healing, pathogen elimination, psychological healing, and inner work. The potential impact of increased levels of glyphosate and mercury on neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism. The benefits of living a “detoxification-friendly lifestyle” in a world where the levels of metals and toxins are higher than ever before. How meditation and breathwork practices such as kapalbhati (“breath of fire”) and anulom vilom (“alternate nostril breathing”) can help reverse blocking of detoxification caused by increased stress How the work of Dr. Paul Eck, James Nestor, Joe Dispenza, Swami Rama and others influenced Kyle's journey of healing An overview of Kyle's company Jyoti Mineral Balancing (JMB). Jyoti is Sanskrit for essence and light and shining, and symbolizes Kyle's conviction that "when we purify the body and balance it and rejuvenate it, that our essence better shines through." How JMB's combination of detoxification, hair analysis, mineral nutrition, and functional medicine might help clients manage brain fog, optimize gut health, and tap into deeper meditation and states of flow. Ranmore Funds founder Sean Peche is cementing his position among the top-performing 1% of global equity funds by disciplining himself to what guru Howard Marks called “second-level thinking”. In this masterclass on investing that self-helpers will appreciate at all levels of expertise, Peche shares the rational approach which has enabled him to outperform no matter what the investment trend of the moment. Hint: study the companies you want to co-own instead of being part of the crowd that attempts to guess big trends (and fails at least 50% of the time). He also points us towards some juicy out-of-fashion investment opportunities that Peche is confident will reward the patient. - Alec Hogg

Gary brings you exclusive highlights from this year's main piping concert at Celtic Connections, held in the main auditorium of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Names and Places is a full length suite composed in the late 1980s by Martin Hughes and Ian Kirkpatrick of the band, Eclipse First, and was (we reckon) the first to be conceived specifically for the combination of pipe band and folk group. The piping and drumming on the original album was provided by members of the Vale of Atholl, some of whom returned to join an all star cast in this re-working of the piece led by musical director, Lorne MacDougall. Also on the menu this week, we catch up on results from last weekend's Atholl Gathering in Perthshire, and hear a magnificent rendition of the Lament for the Viscount of Dundee by Roddy Macleod as well as a little of the background to the tune from Gary.Support the showTracks PlayedChris Gray with High Voltage (C Gray) from his album, Chris GrayLanding at Roscoff from Names and Places, Live at Celtic Connections 2023The West Wind, Isle de Groix, Grande Nuit du Port de Peche from Names and Places, Live at Celtic Connections 2023Tony McManus with The Lament for the Viscount of Dundee from Ceol MorRoddy MacLeod with The Lament for the Viscount of Dundee available onhttps://roddymacleodbagpipes.com/piobaireachd-downloads/The Oban Inn, the Victoria Bar and the Craigdarroch Arms from Names and Places, Live at Celtic Connections 2023The Creagorry Ceilidh and the Boys and Ballivanich from Names and Places, Live at Celtic Connections 2023Support the show

This week we're joined by Sean Peche, who you may know as a founder and portfolio manager at Ranmore Fund Management here in London, or from his popular content on LinkedIn. From either, you'll know that Sean is not afraid to share his mind through thought-provoking commentary in his signature slightly cheeky style. Sean is also passionate about value investing so it was natural for us to grab him on the pod. Sean's investment career began in South Africa in 1997 when he joined Old Mutual as an equity analyst. In 1999 he then joined Decillion Capital as one of its founding members and co-managed their successful Big Rock fund – a South African based hedge fund. In 2001 he relocated to London with Decillion to co-manage a US European hedge fund. He left them in 2003 to join Orbis Investment Advisory, before then leaving again to establish Ranmore Fund Management in 2008. In today's episode Juan and Simon Adler sat down with Sean to discuss the art of communication and building a first-class LinkedIn following, including going toe-to-toe with other thought leaders like Terry Smith, the importance of numbers before narrative, the characteristics of a value manager in today's world, recency bias in today's market and how market participants get financial concepts like diversification wrong, and the future of active and passive. We survived Thanksgiving and are back in the studio this week with our friends from Printer's Ale Manufacturing Co. Printer's is located in Carrollton, GA, about 50 miles west of Atlanta. Not a bad trip for ATLiens on a weekend but far enough they don't get as much hype as some of the in town breweries. That's too bad, because they are making some great beers and doing a lot of other cool things in Carrollton. On this visit we introduced their Woodcut Wild series of beers in Kriek, Framboise, and Peche. After brewing, the mash for these heads to Printer's coolship but does get a little punch up with some commercial strains when going into barrels. Oh yeah, they also brew with aged hops grown right at the brewery, and future beers will use fruit from their orchard. Neat. We chat with Specialty Brewer Josh Watterson and owner Greg Smith about the importance of terroir in brewing, something that was previously (mostly) ignored by American brewers. We discuss the Qatar/FIFA World Cup kerfuffle with Budweiser, mall Santas, what's in the pipeline at Printer's, and the size of Batman's mouth. Hope you enjoying this episode! Coming up we'll be talking beer cocktails and the Beer Guys Radio Interfaith Holiday Craft Beer Extravaganza with our Jewish friends from Rainy Day Brewery drops on Dec. 17th. Woot. Speaking of Disney, Kane Lynch remarks that “their power and wealth is more like a nation than an entertainment company.” As you'll learn in this episode, they even have a secret police force called Global Intelligence and Threat Analysis. Previously, we explored Disney's role in exporting American capitalism around the globe. This week, Kane joins us again to discuss the corporation's efforts to recapture the whimsy and magic of Walt's legacy while reaching their corporate tentacles across the globe. We also explore the company's shady labor practices, their decisions to move jobs overseas rather than negotiating with striking animators, and their recent involvement in the culture wars with Florida's “Don't Say Gay” bill. Tune in to hear how to company went from exporting right wing capitalist ideology to being canceled by conservatives.Kane Lynch is a cartoonist and educator whose non-fiction and journalism comics and illustrations have appeared on The Nib, Slate, and Psychology Today and in the 2020 graphic novel titled Guantanamo Voices.
