Show Notes It is so good to be back in studio. I so prefer working with you in here rather than remotely in my home office. Now that’s odd coming from an introvert. But I think perhaps I am only a “partial introvert,” I still enjoy live conversations with interesting people. And “interesting” certainly describes our guest today. I have known Haley Chapman for longer than fifteen years, all beginning when she was just 9 or 10 years old. And in the meantime Haley has grown up to become an impressive and enthusiastic young woman with unique talents and most challenging dreams. Her bio reads: Haley Chapman is a young entertainment industry professional living in Los Angeles, CA. Most recently she has worked as a publicist at multiple record labels, television and film production studios, including Dick Clark Productions. Haley is also a most gifted singer / songwriter, having released her first EP at 18 years old. She attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN, where she received her degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industry Studies. I am keenly interested in chatting with Haley about the challenging and ultra competitive journey of a brilliant and creative artist. With that let’s bring Haley Chapman on the show. Hello! This episode is a one-off I’m doing to catch you up on a few things that have been happening behind the scenes at Undercover Architect and to also share news on what’s on the horizon. I’ve got some super helpful info in this episode, so stay tuned. SHOW NOTES: It’s been a very strange time (COVID19, preceded by fires, floods, and where we live, plagues of insects). I hope wherever you are, and whatever has been happening for you, that you’re faring well, and staying safe through all of this. Yet, in the background of all of this, I have been passionate about creating and producing things that can be really helpful for homeowners who are planning to renovate and build, or already in the process of navigating that journey. In this episode, I update you on some fantastic help I’ve been creating over the past couple of months. Firstly, if Kitchen Design is something you need help with, and you’d like to learn the practical formula to designing a stunning kitchen you'll love spending time in ... and that works for you and your family, check out the Kitchen Design Challenge we’ve created at https://undercoverarchitect.com/courses/kitchen-design-challenge/ Secondly, if you’re wanting to learn how to find out what it will cost you to build or renovate your home, have reliable information that you can then move forward with, and know how to stay on track (and manage your costs) along the way, then find out more information about How to Set and Stick to Your Budget here https://undercoverarchitect.com/courses/set-stick-to-your-budget/ Thirdly, kicking off next Monday, the 18th of May, you’d like to spend 6 weeks getting personalised support from me, as well as learning the best way to navigate your journey towards your future home, and be really well set up as a member of “How to Get it Right”, then head to https://undercoverarchitect.com/courses/how-to-get-it-right/ And be sure to tune in in a few weeks time, plus tell those you know it’ll help, that we’re starting a new season called REBUILD + BUILD BETTER to help those rebuilding after bushfires, and also help anyone wanting to build more resiliently, or build in a bushfire prone area … which frankly, is a heck of a lot of areas these days given the mapping. Do you struggle with comparing yourself with other moms? Do you feel like you just do things differently, and sometimes you wonder if you’re doing it right? In today’s episode, we’ll talk about how to let go of some of that pressure as we consider what our standard of motherhood SHOULD be, and why comparing ourselves to how other people do it might actually lead us in the completely wrong direction.Show Notes:It’s okay to do it differently than other moms. The important question is this: What does it look like for YOU to be a mom?How do my kids experience my presence with them? This week’s practice:Take some time to get still and quiet before God and ask Him this question: How did you make ME as a mom? Ask God to show you how He uniquely created you, and how that might impact the way you live out your motherhood. If you are struggling to see your unique gifts as a mom, maybe ask a close friend or your small group what they see in you. On the verge of a big job and the heels of finishing the writing phase of his upcoming book, Matt warns about the dangers of expectations and how they can squeeze the life out of you if you're not careful.  Sometimes the most important thing is to get started.  Many times once you are obedient to that higher calling, people and situations arise from out of the woodwork to help you figure out the logistics.   SHOW NOTES: “It doesn’t matter what the external validations that happen to be going on in your life at that particular moment are. It is internal. It is your thought process. It is your choice to focus on the good and minimize the bad. It doesn’t mean to ignore the bad, but it means to not let it get a grip of you.”,(4:26). Recognizing the lack of gratitude in yourself, (5:05). “It started with this urge to express myself. There is so much beautiful energy around 2020 of manifesting what you want and getting rid of what you don't want. A lot of times I fail at reaching my goals because I’m prioritizing things that are less important or not important or things that I don't actually want, and I get stuck in the busy work. And the more and more clear that I've gotten about letting go of things, the more I’ve been able to focus on what matters. Experiencing Financial Contentment with Dominique Henderson, CFP® | Get Better Results in Your Life

Show Notes: It can be difficult to choose a framework or form a philosophy for investing your clients' hard-earned money. However, there are a few principles to keep in mind. In developing my "true north" for investing, it started with something Sir John Templeton said... time in the markets is more important than market timing. To catch that key piece of wisdom and more...check out today's episode. What is your investment philosophy? 1. Start with strategy design based off your philosophy. For example, I believe markets are efficient and therefore choose to create portfolios that expose my clients to the factors I feel determine portfolio returns. Like relative price, size, and profitability. 2. Develop a method to evaluate assets and/or portfolio managers. Which types of assets will you use? This involves looking at what the client needs in relation to your overall philosophy and strategy. For example, if I see the client requires 6% returns, I find assets that have delivered at least that historically. Next move to portfolio manager evaluation. This holds true if you select mutual funds or separately managed accounts (SMAs). This should be based on the client's investment policy statement which starts with a discussion around risk and return preferences. 3. Develop a disciplined framework to monitor your strategy. Finally, have the discipline to follow the strategy. Largely the goal of a financial professional is to manage the behavior of the client through good times and bad...especially the bad. What benchmarks or goals will tell you if this is working? Client performance? Broad market indices? Thanks for listening, reading and watching. Are you a current or aspiring financial professional? Learn what makes an applicant stand out at Wharton [Show Summary] What is Wharton looking for? What about its new deferred admission programs? Most importantly, what do you need to do to get in? If these questions reside in your head, listen in! Wharton’s Director of Admissions, Blair Mannix, is our guest today. Interview with Blair Mannix, Director of Admissions for the Wharton MBA program [Show Notes] It gives me great pleasure to have on Admissions Straight Talk for the first time, Blair Mannix, Director of Admissions for the Wharton MBA program. Blair first came to Penn as a graduate student where she earned her master’s in higher education management in 2010. She joined Penn’s undergrad admissions staff in 2008. She’s been at Wharton since 2012 and became Director of Admissions just about one year ago. Let’s start with the basics. Can you give me a brief overview of the distinctive elements of Wharton’s full-time MBA program? [2:17] Philadelphia is one - I feel like I work for the Philadelphia Board of Tourism sometimes. It is difficult to have a Wharton experience without a Philadelphia experience and vice versa. The second thing I would say is we are proud of the way we approach the teaching of business. We like to provide content in a variety of different ways, since we know students learn best in different ways. We are big on rolling our sleeves up here. What’s new at Wharton? [4:57] The first two are massive updates to our physical plant. This fall we will be opening the Wharton Academic Research Building (WARB), which will be the home of academic research for Wharton, Penn, and Philadelphia. In the spring of 2021 we will open the Center of Entrepreneurship, which will be the hub for undergrad and graduate entrepreneurial endeavors. We also have two new centers in finance – the Harris Center and Stevens Center. The dean has poised us to really stay ahead in finance for the next 10-15 years. hbspt.cta.load(58291, '9bb31be0-3cf6-45f0-be3d-3791cc1bd9bd', {}); Wharton has two deferred admissions programs, the Moelis Advance Access Program and the Advance Access program. Can you tell us about them? [7:15] I feel very strongly that this is where MBA programs need to go. So many students have told me they don’t feel like they could take risks between undergrad and grad school. We want to lock in the talent early so they can go out and impact the world. Moelis started two years ago, so we have had two admitted cohorts, and they have just been Penn undergraduates. Eight weeks ago we launched Advance Access globally, so anyone from around the world can apply and work 2-4 years and then come back for an MBA. With the two cohorts thus far, we have seen a mix of people following a more traditional pre-MBA path, and others who have really taken a risk. We want people to feel free to do what they want. In terms of the size of our first Advance Access cohort, it will depend on the talent. We don’t have a hard number. Can you go into the purpose of some of the different elements of the application? [11:15] The resume and work history, Wharton’s essays, Two professional recommendations, and The Wharton TBD and individual interview Resume and work history: The length, depth, and breadth of your adult life live in your resume and transcript. Essays and recommendations are a snapshot of a moment in time, so I really stress the importance of the resume and transcript. Recently we have begun tracking outcomes of our students, and with the help of a data scientist, we are able to evaluate things like GPA through career trajectory, how applicants interact with the community, and how it all transfers to success at Wharton. Each piece of the application is predictive of success in the program, and that is important. It’s not random but very purposeful. Everything we ask for, we need. Essays: The essays use words to help us evaluate talent. The first essay is what do you want professionally from the Wharton MBA.

Executive Director of Strategic Marketing and Admissions, Rabia Ahmed, shares details of the new program as well as what else is new at Stern. At NYU Stern, change is in the air! [Show Notes] It gives me great pleasure to have on Admissions Straight Talk for the first time, Rabia Ahmed, Executive Director of Strategic Marketing and Admissions at NYU Stern School of Business. Rabia attended Montclair Sate University and earned her MA in International Education from NYU. She began working at NYU Stern in 2005 and in 2006 became the Assistant Director of MBA Admissions. She has been climbing the admissions office ladder every since, and while this is Rabia’s first time on AST, NYU’s Isser Gallogly has been on several times. I don’t usually like to have school representatives on year after year. However NYU Stern always is innovating and changing things up, so I’ve needed to invite someone from NYU Stern to the show year after year. Indeed NYU Stern’s focus and brand are synonymous with change. We’re going to learn more about that from Rabia. Can you give a brief overview of the Stern MBA program focusing on the more distinctive elements? [2:25] I would highlight three main things – our location, our attitude, and our people. We are located in the greatest neighborhood in the greatest city in the world, we are able to bring in amazing adjunct faculty, and have partnerships with organizations for recruiting but also for experiential learning projects in our backyard. We are also on the move, unbound by tradition, and always thinking about where business is going to make sure we stay in front of it, innovate, and experiment. Finally, people you meet at NYU are really special. When you meet the people you can see how incredible they are. Our faculty is one of the largest, and runs the gamut of industry and function. My next question is usually “what’s new?” but there is so much new at NYU Stern that I’m going to change things up. Last month Stern announced a re-branding focused on embracing and initiating change. We’re going to explore some of the elements in the program that really reflect that brand starting with Change:Studio. What is Change:Studio? How is it going to work? [5:31] We want students to leave with preparation for the future. When thinking about how quickly things are changing – technology, how people work - we think about how we prepare students to embrace that change. Change: Studio brings together leadership, experiential learning, and entrepreneurship in co-curricular programming to provide a structure with which to drive change in an organization. The curriculum overall is called Dare It, Dream It, Drive It. Dare It is focused on leadership, Dream It on experiential learning, and Drive It on starting something new. Everyone goes through the beginning stages of Change:Studio with orientation in the leadership simulation and then they can opt into the Change:Studio program. NYU Stern recently started allowing its applicants to submit the GMAC Executive Assessment in addition to the GRE and GMAT. Why? How is the EA different? [11:25] We have always been an early adopter – we were one of the first schools to accept the GRE. We know testing is very stressful and wanted to make sure students had options. When talking to GMAC we felt this exam could be a really good one for our fulltime program to assess for academic readiness. It is designed for professionals, is shorter in duration, and takes less time to prepare for, so thought it could be a good option for some. We have no preference over which test you decide to take. NYU Stern also released a stellar employment report. Can you go over the numbers for the FT program? [13:13] Our median salary is an all time high and increased by ...

Show Notes:It’s Thanksgiving week and our podcast hosts dive into the history of this important American holiday, including the pilgrimage to America, religious persecution, Plymouth Rock, and the meal that started the strong tradition of turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie each November.Featured Quotes:So, here is the teaser for Thanksgiving dinner. When you show up for Thanksgiving dinner and they family is all gathered around, you ask, ‘Why did the Pilgrims come to America? To get to the other side.’ No, the actual answer is sort of to escape the Dutch. So, yes, absolutely they were seeking religious freedom, and they found it in Holland, but they couldn’t live an English village lifestyle in Holland. So . . . they were actually escaping the Dutch, not gaining religious freedom. I just think that’s such a fun little twist on the story.Scott L Wyatt, Southern Utah University PresidentThis is what they probably had. They certainly grew corn, so they had corn. They had squash, they grew beans, they had barley, peas, they would have undoubtedly had ducks and geese and wild turkeys. A lot of fish, so they probably had bass and blue fish and cod. Because they had a crop of barley, they had beer that they were able to brew. No forks or spoons, they would have eaten with knives and fingers. Interview with Kara Keenan Sweeney, Director of Admissions, Marketing, and Financial Aid at the Lauder Institute [Show Summary] Kara Keenan Sweeney, Director of Admissions, Marketing, and Financial Aid at the Lauder Institute, takes us through the Lauder program: what is it, who it is a good fit for and who it’s not, and how to get in. Learn what makes Wharton Lauder unique, and how applicants can distinguish themselves in their applications [Show Notes] It gives me great pleasure to introduce Kara Keenan Sweeney, Director of Admissions, Marketing and Financial Aid at the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and Penn Law School. Kara has an extensive background in graduate admissions, starting with her masters in higher ed administration at Columbia. And moving on to admissions positions at INSEAD, U Penn, Penn State, and now at The Lauder Institute. Can you give an overview of the Wharton Lauder Program? There may be some listeners who aren’t that familiar with the program. [1:56] Our students earn a Master of Arts in International Studies at the same time they do the Wharton MBA program. It is a two-year, joint, integrated program, and all of the classes are taken at the Lauder Institute. The Institute was founded in 1985 by the family of Estee Lauder, and they have been very involved in the planning and execution of the program. We have six programs of concentration. Five of the concentrations are focused on a region of the world – they are East/Southeast Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. We also have a global track for those who already have significant international experience and are looking for a more macro take on global issues. There is no language requirement while in the program because they have to have those skills before being admitted. Students do both programs simultaneously, and we frontload a little bit with students starting in May. There are 70 students in each class, and they take a month of classes in Philadelphia and then do an eight-week summer immersion, so they have three months of class under their belts before the MBA program starts. Wharton Lauder has a new director Dr. Martine Haas. I realize that she just started in July, but any idea of the direction that she’d like to take the program? [5:32] She brings a lot of energy, and it’s great to have someone new as well as the first woman lead the institute. She is from South Africa, studied in the U.K., and has been teaching at Wharton for the last several years so she already knows a lot about our program. She continues to learn more about our program through our students, alumni, and board, and is very happy to help shape the vision for the next five years. What else is new at Wharton Lauder since we last spoke two years ago? [6:22] We changed the curriculum a few years ago from strict language-focused classes to a concentration focus. Those changes have been going very well with the new regional focus. We’ve added Korean as a language to our Asian track, and we also restarted our Anglophone Africa program this year. We’ve hired three new faculty members, one of whom oversees the Africa program right now. Another covers the Global Knowledge Lab. We also in the last month had a new fellow join the program, Professor Mohamed El-Erian, professor of practice at Wharton and Lauder, and it’s an amazing experience for the students to work with him. The students are required to go on two trips as part of Lauder Integral Ventures. We have nine trips available – Botswana, Myanmar and Tahiti, Cuba, Denmark, Estonia, Yugoslavia, Israel, Mongolia. Students spend a week in one of these regions with a faculty member, study a topic, and then write a paper. Can you describe the critical elements of the Wharton MBA and Lauder application? [11:10] They complete the Wharton application as traditional MBA applicant would, and embedded into it is the Lauder application as well.

Interview with Shari Hubert, Associate Dean of Admissions at Duke Fuqua [Show Summary] Shari Hubert, Associate Dean of Admissions at Duke Fuqua shares great information about major curriculum and programmatic changes the school is going through and why. Learn about Duke Fuqua's unique location, curriculum and program offerings [Show Notes] It gives me great pleasure to welcome back to AST Shari Hubert, Associate Dean of Admissions at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Shari earned her BA at Dartmouth and her MBA at Harvard. She worked at several elite companies, and in 2009 became Director of Recruitment for the Peace Corps. In 2012 she returned to the MBA world when she became the Associate Dean of MBA Admissions for Georgetown McDonough. She joined Duke Fuqua as Associate Dean of Admissions in October 2017. Fuqua has announced a curriculum redesign with three main changes. What are they and how will they affect the class entering in 2020? [1:48] We are always trying to look for ways to remain relevant, and with the landscape we find ourselves in it is a challenging environment for business right now. There are so many polarizing issues. After talking about the needs of our students, we settled on their need for a greater emphasis on how to develop as a leader who can rally others to move toward a common purpose. The idea of teamwork has always been a part of our culture, and more recently embodied by Team Fuqua, as has the focus on innovation, but we wanted to be very intentional about equipping students with the right skillsets to tackle this new business environment. The curriculum focuses around three themes that are tackled right at the beginning of the first year and then again at the end of first year. The themes are leadership and common purpose, entrepreneurship as a mindset, and technology in business. Right after orientation there is a three-week period with three courses – one is leadership ethics in organizations, the second is entrepreneurship for a lifetime, and the third is focused on technology and ethics. We believe an entrepreneurial mindset is important, regardless of whether or not a student decides to own their own business someday. An owner mentality is very beneficial for resilience and creativity. Business is very complex with the technology transformation over the last few decades. There is no shortage of data, but what is lacking is leadership around making informed decisions with that data. So for us the focus is on building leaders who will be ethical about how to use it. At the end of the first year there is kind of a capstone course around mobilizing teams for common purpose and the need to have courageous conversations. We do this at the end of the first year as students have built relationships by then and are able to more boldly participate. There is such polarization in the workforce, which is a reflection of society – one can’t seem to disagree agreeably. We look for students who can understand and embrace diversity and difference and this new curriculum equips students with the ability to navigate that and ultimately have a positive impact on society. How will Fuqua's Accelerated MBA program work and who is it for? [13:17] The program is a one-year MBA for those with a Masters in Management (MMS) from Fuqua and/or MMS from another institution. These are individuals who have studied the core competencies around business and are looking for the additional leadership credentialing but in a way that is accelerated. Some want to continue down the business path, and it is beneficial to alumni of our MMS who have taken much of our core, have work experience, and want to take their career to the next level. It also shows our commitment to lifelong learning to our alums - we already offer free exec ed courses to alumni. The MMS degree is much more widespread in Europe and we are looking at that and others who might want to layer on with a U.S. MBA degree.

We are SUPER EXCITED to have our first guest on the show- Lindsey Hein! You have definitely heard of her podcast, “I’ll Have Another With Lindsey Hein”; we loved her recent interview with Courtney Dawalter.  Lindsey says she likes conversations- and she is not kidding! As soon as we started chatting our conversation went ALL OVER the place, from the joy of 4 boys to skincare and back around to the original reason we wanted to talk to her in the first place- body shaming. Big thanks to Karen Schleuter for drawing our attention to that post, you made this all happen! We hope you enjoy this casual, fun, sprawling conversation with Lindsey Hein and hope you can join us in NYC next month for her live podcast session at New York Road Runner Headquarters the Friday before the marathon.   SHOW NOTES It was a PLEASURE and a privilege to speak with Lindsey Hein on the Running Life podcast this week! Lindsey is the host of the “I’ll Have Another” podcast AND, more recently, of the Illuminate podcast. She has interviewed, oh, a few people you may have heard of before (most recently Courtney Dauwalter, winner of the 2019 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in Chamonix, France). Lindsey is a longtime runner, a mom of four boys under age 7, and a running coach. She and Coach MK and Coach Sarah had a LOT to talk about, and it began with a story that Lindsey told her audience on social media this past summer. After a tough workout at the track on a hot day (2x800, 1600, 2x800), she said good morning to an older man walking the outer lane, and he responded by telling her that she was getting a belly and recommending that she try doing some crunches. Lindsey, just over a year out from having her fourth baby and feeling QUITE GOOD THANK YOU VERY MUCH about her body, says “I laughed a big hearty laugh and said I have 4 kids, the youngest of which isn’t even one and I told him I am proud of my belly.⁣”    Lindsey’s response was to hand him her phone and ask him to take her photo, and she went home, got her 4 kids breakfasted and bandaided and ready to go to the pool, and then she posted that photo on Facebook.   Many people were horrified at the story that went along with it. The idea that someone had commented on her body like that, recommended she lose 20-25 pounds...it was infuriating. And, frankly, destabilizing. Someone as fit as Lindsey Hein is getting heckled at the track? What hope is there for the rest of us?   This was the moment that connected us with Lindsey for the first time (and thank you Karen Schlueter for making that happen!) and this is where the conversation really begins.   Coach MK and Coach Sarah have talked about body image through a number of different cultural artifacts over the past several months: Beyonce’s 22 Days video, the return of The Biggest Loser, the cultural response to Brittany Runs A Marathon. We were really inspired by Lindsey’s perspective on this moment and what she found in herself when confronted with the judgment of a total stranger, and we LOVED talking with her about her relationship to running and her body, as well as her podcast, her audience, and her image.   We also talked skin care and self care and apologizing less and running out of fucks to give - aging is amazing, y’all. And, finally, we all squeal with excitement about Lindsey and MK both getting ready to run the NYC marathon together - it will be Lindsey’s first New York, and both MK and Sarah take a second to wax poetic about their favorite parts of the course.   And speaking of marathons, don’t miss the moment early on when Lindsey mentions (offhandedly) that she did no speedwork when she was training for Boston this year.    If you are going to be in New York City for marathon weekend, do NOT miss Lindsey’s live episode of I’ll Have Another with Roberta Groner, Sara Hall and Kellyn Taylor!!   (totally non-affiliate) Skincare Links from Coach MK: I purchased this face wash, used it twice and it did make my skin glow, but it also broke me out. I've always had acne-prone skin so I wrote it off as not being able to have nice things. I mean, I run every day and wear sunscreen; more is not worth the effort if I'm just gonna head outside again, right? Recovering from surgery with no tv, I searched for JVN on Youtube, and got this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJAZkC9d43c Then this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zBkWRjc4RY THEN THIS VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys1r-14fP1Q and I was like OH MY GOD a double cleanse whaaaaat? and I went to my bathroom and started reading labels then was like, "I NEED A WATER-BASED CLEANSER!" and ended up on www.klog.com and bought this cleanser and this toner and this toner (because I couldn't decide, figured I'd try and return the other one) and they were like WOW so I kept both....within a week I had zero acne. The oil-based face wash is magic if you use it the way it was intended- by following it with a water-based cleanser. How I went from a double cleanse to a whole morning AND NIGHTTIME routine that consists of completely different products will be the subject of a future podcast!!!!!

Sometimes it doesn’t seem like we are choosing our Next Chapter. Rather, circumstances can thrust it upon you and we all can do is respond. And often, with the benefit of kindsight, we are able to see this was the best possible thing to happen for, rather then too, us!  That was Tracey’s experience when a company restructure changed the direction of her successful corporate career. She made good use of the outplacement services that were offered to her and recognised that there was a demand for her skill base, but it was the casual observation from her Dad that opened a new door “How about you start your own thing?”. Bissett Financial Fitness was the result, a business that provides Tracey with the opportunity to leverage all of her skills, make a real difference, escape her industry paradigm and control her own destiny to boot. What’s not to love about a Next Chapter like that? Show Notes It’s not easy to start and grow your own business, but you have ample evidence from your past of your ability to overcome obstacles and that same determination and resourcefulness is transferable to your new venture Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance – people are kind and want to help Start with a blank page and ask yourself – what’s important to you? How would you most like to design your new business or the next chapter of your current business? Consider what you love, what the market needs and where the intersection between them is It’s always a good idea to develop multiple streams of income opportunities – Tracey combines training and consulting, coaching and speaking Get comfortable with being in the space of not knowing – it’s ok and expected that you will spend a fair amount of time there! Understand that the actions of confidence come first and the feelings of confidence follow – take a breath, screw up your courage and leap Perfectionism can really hold you back – practice letting go Consider assembling your own small Board of Directors to turn to for advice and guidance – it’s invaluable

The Double Take – OHS111

One Hand Speaks

The one thing I enjoy in a strange kind of way is the "double take." Having lived my entire life with one hand I have been the object of the double take countless times. More often than not, most people I encounter "do a double take" as a result of noticing I do not have two hands. In comes in all shapes and sizes as do all kinds of people. The reactions of young children to adults is quite vast. People walking past me on the street, seeing me while riding my bicycle, or even when I am teaching Aikido, I get the double take. Even how people in other countries view, stare, and double take is different based on the culture. Sometimes the reaction has a much deeper and reflective quality of the person. Much like the reactions I have received from some potential employers when I arrive for a job interview. No matter the situation or the the moment I find myself, the double take due to my one-handedness is simply part of the life I live. Thanks for listening! I invite you to share this podcast, offer a comment or leave some feedback. Show Notes: It is funny how many different ways people "do a double take" because I do not have two hands. Sometimes I can learn a lot about you or the moment by how you do a double take. People have been double taking me my entire life. This is simply the life I live.
