There's a house in Hartford City, Indiana, that locals whisper about—but few dare to enter after dark. Known as the Monroe House, it's earned a reputation as one of the most haunted locations in the state, a place where strange voices echo through empty rooms and shadows seem to crawl just out of sight. For over seven years, Matt Benton and his team dug into the house's dark past—interviewing witnesses, capturing chilling evidence, and uncovering a discovery in the crawl space that feels pulled straight from a nightmare: ritualistic objects buried deep beneath the floor, as if the earth itself was trying to keep them hidden. Matt shares how seven years of relentless research and hundreds of hours of footage came together to tell the house's story—not just as a documentary, but as an immersive, dread-soaked experience designed to pull viewers inside the haunting itself. This isn't just another ghost story. This is an invitation into one of America's most sinister hauntings—and a glimpse at what happens when something evil refuses to stay buried. Today on The Grave Talks, Evil Unearthed: The Monroe House, a conversation with Joe Vitale and Matt Benton. This is Part Two of our conversation. In his 22-year career in the FBI, undercover agent Scott Payne infiltrated some of the most dangerous criminal and extremist groups in America, from a motorcycle gang called the Outlaws to a white-supremacist group known as the Base. Payne shares his firsthand case accounts of gathering intelligence and stopping illegal activity in his memoir, Code Name: Pale Horse; How I Went Undercover to Expose America’s Nazis. His story is also featured on the latest season of the Slate podcast White Hot Hate. Payne sat down with Apple News In Conversation host Shumita Basu to talk about some of his most harrowing moments on the job and the growing threat of extremism in the U.S.

When politicians hand the gun industry a liability shield, they're not “protecting freedom,”they're protecting a business model built on body counts. Before Trump, Republicans largely only shaded the truth: George W. Bush's administration asserted “we know” Iraq has WMDs. The statements danced on ambiguous intelligence, carefully presenting suspicions as certainties.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Go beyond the headlines with Scott Payne, a former undercover operative whose real-life missions placed him deep inside some of America's most dangerous white supremacist groups and notorious biker gangs. STS' Emmy Award–winning journalist Joel Waldman interviews Payne about the realities of living undercover—earning trust, managing constant risk, and the personal toll of years spent in the shadows. This compelling discussion explores life undercover, the psychology of extremist movements, the ethical lines investigators must navigate, and what it takes to return to normal life after years of deception. Thoughtful, tense, and deeply human, this interview offers rare insight into counter-extremism, investigative journalism, and the true cost of going undercover—from survival and sacrifice to resilience and redemption. President Trump's sweeping reshaping of American politics in 2025 fueled intense support and alarm alike, transformed the role of government and U.S. alliances, and laid the groundwork for a sharply polarized fight heading into the midterm elections. Plus, President Trump significantly changed the United States H-1B visa program by imposing a new $100,000 fee on new applicants as part of a broader overhaul aimed at curbing perceived abuse. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Deremer explains why she believes the overhaul will help ‘protect' the American worker. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Jordan Love is officially OUT for Saturday's showdown against Baltimore, thrusting Malik Willis into the spotlight with the NFC North division title still within reach. With Lamar Jackson also doubtful for the Ravens, this matchup just became a battle of backup quarterbacks—and the Packers hold every advantage at home. This episode delivers a comprehensive breakdown of the Baltimore Ravens, a team having their worst season since 2021. We examine Tyler Huntley's extensive film history (he's 5-12 as Baltimore's fill-in starter), Derek Henry's dramatic statistical decline from his monster 2024 campaign, and why their aging defense—featuring pass rushers who can't rush and corners having career-worst seasons—presents an exploitable matchup for Green Bay. Key discussion points include the strategy debate around resting starters versus competing for the division, the Ravens' rapidly closing championship window with declining stars at multiple positions, and why Kyle Hamilton remains one of the few legitimate threats on their roster. Plus, breaking injury news on Savion Smith and Quay Walker dealing with illness. The Packers are 3.5-point home favorites. This is a winnable game that could set up everything for the final push. Alex Murdaugh's name has become shorthand for corruption, greed, and generational deception. But does that make him a murderer? In this episode of Hidden Killers, Tony Brueski confronts the question few dare to ask: Did the jury convict Murdaugh for the murders of Maggie and Paul — or for the decades of betrayal that made him one of the most despised men in America? With no murder weapon, no direct forensic link, and no eyewitnesses, the prosecution leaned heavily on Murdaugh's financial crimes to build a motive. Was that enough? Or did disgust do the rest? Tony breaks down the real evidence — what actually points to guilt, what muddies the picture, and how stripping away the financial narrative forces us to reexamine the case on its raw merits. As the South Carolina Supreme Court weighs whether jury-tampering allegations against former clerk Becky Hill justify a new trial, this debate matters more than ever. But to understand the full story, you have to go back to the moment the facade first cracked: the death of Gloria Satterfield. Long before the Moselle murders, Gloria — the beloved housekeeper who worked for the family for over 20 years — was found bleeding on the brick steps of the Murdaugh home. No autopsy. No investigation. Just an “accident” attributed to the dogs. Years later, investigators discovered the truth: Alex orchestrated an insurance scam, encouraged Gloria's sons to sue him, and stole every dollar of the $4 million settlement meant for them. Her death and his deception became the moral fault line that revealed the rot beneath the dynasty. This episode examines whether the jury saw a murderer — or the collapse of a man who had deceived everyone for decades. #AlexMurdaugh #MurdaughMurders #GloriaSatterfield #HiddenKillers #TrueCrimeAnalysis #MurderOrMotive #SouthCarolina #LegalAnalysis #CrimePodcast #TonyBrueski Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? We are living through an interesting time when Christianity has regained popularity but how it shows up in our world is confusing. I thought about this during the Charlie Kirk memorial service. It was like a megachurch event and while I am happy for people whenever they have a spiritual movement, I wonder about what it means for those in power versus what it means for those who are participating in it. I wanted to talk to Jay Dyer because he has an interesting perspective on the perversion of Christianity in modern day politics and entertainment.

Infinite Inning 357 Angels Up the Where? and Baseball True Love In a holiday mini-episode we talk about secular vs. religious holidays in America, the films of Powell and Pressburger, and the faith-based baseball comedy (in which it's the nuns who object most strongly to seeing a manifestation of the divine) “Angels in the Outfield” (1951). (Drum Roll Please.wav by Scheffler) The Infinite Inning is a journey to the past to understand the present using baseball as our time machine. America's brighter mirror, baseball reflects, anticipates, and even mocks the stories we tell ourselves about our world today. Baseball Prospectus's Steven Goldman shares his obsessions: history from inside and outside of the game, politics, stats, and Casey Stengel quotations. Along the way, we'll try to solve the puzzle that is the Infinite Inning: How do you find the joy in life when you can't get anybody out?

Episode Summary:In this episode of Explaining History, Nick explores the rise of the "Consumer's Republic" in post-war America. We examine how the dream of the suburban idyll—white picket fences, gleaming appliances, and mass car ownership—became a central pillar of US identity and stability.Drawing on Lizabeth Cohen's A Consumer's Republic, we delve into how corporate and political elites consciously steered American citizens away from collectivist politics and towards a highly individualized "politics of consumption." Nick discusses how suburbia was not just a place to live, but a tool for managing the economy, creating a new "mass middle class" out of the industrial working class. But beneath the surface of this "happy-go-spending world," there were darker currents: racial exclusion, environmental costs, and the fragility of an economic model built on endless growth. Was the golden age of suburbia a unique historical accident? And what happens when the dream of upward mobility begins to fade?Key Topics:The Consumer's Republic: How consumption became a civic duty.Suburbia as Utopia: The role of magazines like Redbook in selling the suburban dream.Mass Home Ownership: How government-backed mortgages created a nation of property owners. The Politics of Prosperity: How affluence was used to defuse class conflict.Books Mentioned:A Consumer's Republic: The Politics of Mass Consumption in Postwar America by Lizabeth CohenGrand Expectations by James T. In this episode of Explaining History, Nick explores how different nations remember the Second World War, focusing on the stark contrast between American triumphalism and European melancholy.Drawing on Keith Lowe's brilliant book Prisoners of History, we delve into the cultural psychology behind monuments like the Iwo Jima Memorial. Why does America view its soldiers as "freedom warriors" and saints, while Europe often builds monuments to victims? We unpack the concept of "The Greatest Generation" and ask whether this mythology obscures the darker realities of the Pacific War.Nick also reflects on the "secular religion" of remembrance in Britain, the politicization of the poppy, and how the far-right has co-opted the memory of the war for modern nativist agendas. From the Blitz to Pearl Harbor, this episode examines how nations tell stories about themselves through stone and bronze.Plus: Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming live masterclasses for history students in early 2026!Key Topics:The Cult of Remembrance: How the poppy became politicized in 21st-century Britain.American Mythology: Why the US views WWII through a lens of heroism rather than trauma.Iwo Jima: The story behind the iconic photograph and the monument that immortalizes it.Monuments as Identity: How statues shape national narratives of victimhood and victory.Books Mentioned:Prisoners of History by Keith LoweThe Second World War by Antony Beevor (referenced contextually)Explaining History helps you understand the 20th Century through critical conversations and expert interviews. In the final episode of the year, CannCon and Ashe in America take a wide-ranging but focused look at the ongoing unraveling of the 2020 election narrative, with Fulton County, Georgia at the center of the discussion. The hosts break down newly allowed access to physical ballots, the staggering costs demanded to comply, and why those costs raise serious questions about obstruction and accountability. The conversation revisits documented discrepancies in hand counts, repeated ballot scanning, deleted records, and sworn testimony regarding remote access to voting systems. From Georgia to Colorado to Arizona, the episode connects patterns across states while emphasizing that election interference ultimately required Americans in positions of authority to act. As the year closes, CannCon and Ashe reflect on the long fight for election transparency, the role of grassroots investigators, and why unresolved election crimes threaten the legitimacy of every other issue facing the country. This episode serves as both a year-in-review and a warning: without verifiable elections, nothing else can truly be fixed.
In this post-Christmas edition of Spellbreakers, Matt Trump reflects on returning to Las Vegas for the first time since 2020 and asks a bigger question: is Las Vegas still what it once was? Framed by the Twelve Days of Christmas, the episode weaves together personal memories, cultural shifts, and the changing identity of the city itself. Matt revisits his experience of Las Vegas during the turbulent weeks after the 2020 election, contrasts it with today's economic and social climate, and explores whether the city's magic, affordability, and spirit have survived the last five years. The conversation touches on tradition, reflection, America's crossroads, and how places like Las Vegas mirror deeper national changes, all delivered in a relaxed, contemplative, end-of-year tone.
On this episode of America at Night with McGraw Milhaven, McGraw is joined by Jay Young, founder of King Operating Corp, who explains why gas prices remain low and what energy markets are signaling heading into the coming months. Later in the show, Theo Lewis Clark returns as Hollywood executive for a day for another round of movie trivia, while Bill Clevin, founder of billontheroad.com, joins McGraw to share travel stories and insights from his latest journeys across the country and beyond. In Home Work: Gender, Child Labor, and Education for Girls in Urban America, 1870-1930 (U Chicago Press, 2025) historian Ruby Oram tells the story of how middle-class, white women reformers lobbied the state to implement various public education reforms to shape the lives of girls and women in industrial cities between 1870 and 1930. Women such as Jane Addams and Florence Kelley used education reform to target working-class communities and advocate for their middle-class ideals of girlhood and femininity, which could vary depending on the racial or socio-economic backgrounds of the girls. For example, reformers generally encouraged white girls to care for their future families, while pushing Black girls toward becoming domestic workers in others' homes. Using Chicago as a case study, Oram also explores how many of the reforms sought by white women were in response to evolving anxieties about immigration, health, and sexual delinquency. An illuminating addition to the history of urban education in America, Home Work enriches our understanding of educational inequality in twentieth-century schools. For hard-core baseball folks, for anyone who cares for the future of the game, veteran baseball writer Jane Leavy compels attention with her provocative book, Make Me Commissioner: I Know What's Wrong With Baseball And How To Fix It (Grand Central, 2025). Our conversation focuses on her proposed solutions to the core problem of a sport in the destructive grip of a data-driven analytics mindset. For example, because the numbers crowd dictates that hitters should swing for the fences, they too often strike out, and home runs themselves, she says, have become boring. Her fix: wrap plexiglass around the outfield wall at every major-league ballpark, so that each wall is a uniform eighteen feet high. That way, teams will be forced to invest in speedy players able to hit lots of exciting doubles and triples. Leavy may not become commissioner, but out of her deep love for the game, and with edgy good humor, she is forcing an overdue scrutiny of what was once known as America's National Pastime. As one year ends and another begins, many pause to look backward and forward. We'll do that on a deep historical scale with today's guest, PETER TURCHIN, author of END TIMES. In 2010, when Nature magazine asked for a ten-year forecast, he predicted that America was in a spiral of social disintegration that would lead to collapse of the political order. “Political breakdown, from the Roman Empire to the Russian revolution, follows a clear pattern: workers' wages stagnate while elites multiply.” This echoes Plato's assertion that democracy inevitably leads to tyranny - the rich always want to get richer and the poor will follow a demagogue who promises to overthrow the rich. Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comIn this episode of Faithful Politics, Will and Josh sit down with attorney and EPPC fellow Rachel Morrison to unpack the legal and political fight over “anti-Christian bias” in America. Drawing from her new Ethics and Public Policy Center report responding to President Trump's Executive Order 14202, Rachel explains what the Anti-Christian Bias Task Force actually is, how it differs from the new Religious Liberty Commission, and why her research focuses less on sound bites and more on concrete federal actions. She walks through three key areas where she believes the Biden administration has sidelined religious liberty: conscience protections in health care at HHS, rulemaking that treats religion as an afterthought, and EEOC enforcement choices that chill religious exercise in the workplace. Along the way, the conversation hits RFRA, the Affordable Care Act's contraception and abortion mandates, pronoun and dress-code disputes, and the messy reality of COVID vaccine mandates for employees who requested religious accommodations. Rachel closes with what she sees as the most important fix Congress could make right now and why everyday people of faith should care about the “boring” world of federal regulations as much as the headlines. Guest Bio:Rachel N. Morrison is a Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, where she focuses on the intersection of law, religious liberty, and public policy. She directs EPPC's Administrative State Accountability Project, monitoring and challenging federal agency regulations that affect life issues, conscience protections, and nondiscrimination laws. A 1964 speech by author John StormerA description of the book:None Dare Call It Treason is a careful compilation of facts from hundreds of Congressional investigations of communism and dozens of authoritative books on the communist-socialist conspiracy to enslave America. It dissects the failures of the Eisenhower Administration just as effectively as it details the blunders of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy and Johnson. It documents the concurrent decay in America's schools, churches, and press which has conditioned the American people to accept 20 years of retreat in the face of the communist enemy. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, we bring you the best of Mark Levin on Christmas Day! There was a spectacle in Qatar where wealthy ruling-class elites from U.S. government, politics, business, and media, along with foreign leaders for diplomatic cover, gathered to align with a regime that funds terrorism and seeks to destroy the United States from within, the West, and Israel. This highlights the success of a new imperial ruling class across both parties, businesses, unions, media, and financiers, who celebrate monarchy, fascism, and Marxist-Islamists while pursuing power, wealth, and glory. They exploit podcasting and podcasters who claim America First while attacking traditional Americanism, Judeo-Christian values, capitalism, the military, and allies, instead demanding ties with enemies like Qatar. These grifters like Tucker Carlson smear true conservatives, centralize power and wealth in a bizarre feudal-Marxist form, ignore Qatar's role in 9/11 and university corruption, and target vulnerable young people with isolationism toward allies and globalism toward foes. These grifters will cause Republicans to suffer massive losses in midterm elections, even amid a strong economy, by alienating red-blooded Americans—such as veterans, cops, firefighters, electricians, and plumbers—who recognize these figures getting rich in places like Qatar while spreading enemy propaganda against the country. Later, Gov Josh Shapiro associates radical Muslim elements, including imams in Philadelphia, and providing $5 million to their academy, while hypocritically downplaying his Jewish heritage to non-Jews and emphasizing it to Jews, which is diabolical politics. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born intellectual, wrote an eye-opening article on Somali culture, which Shapiro ignores while funding radical Islamists. Immigrants must be vetted for assimilation potential. Shapiro and Cox are enabling cultural erosion through political correctness. The Islamist belief system is incompatible with Americanism. Also, it's important to educate the young people about America's history. They are brainwashed by misinformation and by an agenda they don't understand themselves, only because they were taught to do it. We need to educate our future generations, teaching them about people the unknown people who founded our country, such as Roger Sherman, Gunning Bedford Jr and Daniel of St Thomas Jenifer.
