For the past 2.5 years of growing Golden Brands, I've been in a constant stage of pushing - even in moments where I've told myself I need to slow down. But here's what I've come to realise...There are seasons when we need to give ourselves permission to pause. To soften. To stop chasing more and instead ask, What actually feels aligned right now? This episode is a really honest reflection on how I'm navigating that exact season. It's for the business owner who's tired of the pressure. Who's wondering if all the “growth advice” online is actually making things harder. Who needs to hear someone say: “It's okay to not be in expansion mode.”Inside this episode, I share:The emotional weight of building Golden Brands and trying to do it allWhy I'm saying no to unnecessary pressure and shifting my focus inwardA simple lens I'm now using to filter decisions: Does it bring me energy, or take it away? The unexpected freedom of letting go of expectations Let's connect: Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goldenbrandsco/Join the membership waitlist: https://goldenbrandsco.com/membership/If you can leave a short review that would be greatly appreciated! Summer may be slow for the average med spa, but if you're ready to ditch the excuses and play to win, this episode is a must-listen. Host Leisa Krauss blows up the myth that Q3 has to be a “dead zone” for your business and offers a reality check that's both salty and strategic. While many clinic owners ride out July through September with crossed fingers and empty chairs, Leisa delivers a wake-up call—and a toolkit for turning downtime into prime-time profit. In this high-energy episode, Leisa breaks down why so many clinics see their schedules thin out as patients and teams drift away for vacations and summer distractions. But instead of joining the seasonal slump, Leisa reveals that Q3 can actually be the most powerful season for smart business owners—if you know where to focus your energy. She teases some of her signature strategies: ditching desperate discounts, running irresistible flash offers, and creating events that actually convert, not just entertain. Leisa also hints at why now is the best time to audit your numbers, train your team, and map out a Q4 that leaves your competitors in the dust.If you're ready to move beyond “waiting for fall” and start stacking strategies (and profits) right now, the full episode is packed with inside advice and actionable tips—exclusively for members. In this episode of SoTellUs Time, Trevor and Troy Howard break down what smart entrepreneurs do when business gets quiet — and how YOU can turn any slow season into a launchpad for long-term success.
What if creativity isn't about doing more — but about trusting the seasons of your life? This week on the Embodied Podcast, I sat down with East Coast musician Christina Martin for a heartfelt conversation about music, healing, and the courage to trust yourself. Christina's creative journey isn't linear — and that's what makes it inspiring. Growing up on the windswept coast of Nova Scotia, she learned early to navigate loss, trauma, and the slow work of rebuilding trust. Trust the slow season Looking back now, she sees creativity as a cycle — one that requires rest, reflection, and space. “There were times I felt guilty for not having the energy to keep doing, doing, doing,” Christina shared. “But looking back, I see now — when the call comes, you're fueled. And when you follow that, it's a pretty cool ride.” This is what we explored together — letting go, trusting the quiet seasons, and allowing healing to happen in your own time.Healing happens in relationship Christina shared openly about her process as an artist — and as a woman learning to trust herself again after loss and betrayal. Over time, supportive relationships helped her heal and rebuild trust — with herself, her creativity, and with others. “It was a big thing for me... when I start to feel this sense of I don't want to hurt somebody or maybe my feelings aren't valid... It's because my body is still remembering a bit of this pain. It's trying to protect itself.” Less is more We also talked about letting go of perfectionism in creative work — making space for joy, presence, and connection. “Less is more has proven to bring more joy, more meaningful work, more room for just creativity and thoughts.” Trust your pace This episode is a beautiful invitation to slow down — to trust your body, your inner pace, and the cycles of creativity that move through your life. When we give ourselves permission to rest, to reflect, and to trust the call when it comes — we open ourselves to a life that feels more true. Listen to our full conversation on the Embodied podcast — available wherever you listen to podcasts. In this episode of Behind the Design, I'm diving into a topic that's been on many designers' minds—how to bounce back after a slow season in business. This year has been challenging for many, including myself, as my studio, Current, saw a slower-than-usual July and August. While it's comforting to know we're not alone, at the end of the day, we still need to make money and keep the business moving forward. So, in today's episode, I'm sharing four practical strategies you can start implementing right away to regain momentum and finish the year strong. Plus, I'll share a little about my personal experience and the lessons I've learned over the years on how to navigate these slower periods. I've been hearing from so many photographers lately that they feel bookings are slow right now. Their inquiries are down, and they're not booking as much as usual. And while these seasons can be very challenging, I know from experience that sitting in your feelings is only helpful for so long. If you are needing to provide for your family, it's okay for it to feel discouraging, but you also can't just keep waiting around. Instead, you need to take action and do something about not booking as much business. That is what this episode is about.I'm exploring reasons behind fewer bookings, mindset shifts to make, and key money-making strategies to implement to help with this season.00:53 Personal Experience with Business Downturns02:22 Mindset Shift: Don't Overthink Slow Bookings03:45 Analyzing Past Data to Understand Trends09:37 Immediate Actions to Boost Bookings09:51 Money-Making Activities to Implement Now14:35 Brand Building During Slow Seasons17:55 Enhancing Client ExperienceI know that it can feel really frustrating to be in a slow season.
