The Women Express! podcast hosted by Denise is an absolute gem in the world of business and organizational podcasts. As an avid listener, I cannot help but appreciate how this show empowers its audience to use their voices to influence those they are leading. The guests that Denise brings on are truly fascinating, and they each have their own unique stories and perspectives to share. One episode that particularly stood out was the interview with Susan Goldberg, whose journey was not only inspiring but also eye-opening.
One of the best aspects of The Women Express! podcast is Denise's exceptional interviewing skills. She has a way of making her guests feel comfortable, which in turn leads to open and honest conversations. This allows listeners to gain valuable insights into the experiences and challenges faced by successful women in various industries. Additionally, Denise asks thought-provoking questions that prompt guests to delve deeper into their stories, ultimately providing a wealth of knowledge for her audience to learn from.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the diversity of its guests. Every episode features women from different backgrounds and industries, which offers listeners a wide range of perspectives and experiences. Whether it's hearing about corporate leadership or entrepreneurial journeys, there is always something new to be learned from each guest's unique story.
While it's difficult to find any significant flaws in The Women Express! podcast, one minor downside could be the lack of male voices on the show. Although it focuses on empowering women, it could be beneficial to include male perspectives on topics such as leadership and gender equality in the workplace. This would provide a more well-rounded view and encourage a broader conversation.
In conclusion, The Women Express! podcast is a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration and guidance in their professional lives. Welcome Back! Now that we are headed back to “A” life of normal, what have we learned from this moment of pause? The Pandemic offered us great opportunities in self-discovery. We increased our awareness of how delicate our personal health is and the health of those around us. We came to understand how connected we are globally (I had the best birthday ever which included all of my global friends) and how valuable that connection is. We became aware of cultural differences which brought about a more whole and inclusive workplace, community, and personal life. Throughout this we saw how virtual platforms allowed people to create a global presence. We embraced an understanding of the lives we've lost and how they became the foundation in creating inspiration for life. Yes, there is an excitement to return to old times, but let's think reset when carrying all we have gathered in silence. Let's move forward with the newness of expression and freshness of vision…Here's to A “new normal”.

It’s 2021! WE Women Express is introducing the POWER UP Series, signature conversations with women who are taking a bigger stance, using a bigger platform, and using their voices to guide our country, world, and planet in becoming a richer, more diverse landscape. Our first conversation is with Liz Archibald, Director of Corporate Communications for NVidia, one of the world’s largest Technology companies. She is responsible for leading PR for three key areas - Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Developers (we have 2M in our program), and Inception (6500+ AI startup companies). This is notable for an African American woman in the Tech industry. Right out of college Liz was given the opportunity to affect the “corporate voice” through brand messaging at HP and then Cisco. These opportunities positioned her to develop her expertise in helping C-Suite executives with communicating their brand messages. Liz shares her path to one of the biggest companies in the Tech industry. She’ll shares how each step gave her more confidence and experience to be able to “Power Up” in the Tech Industry as a woman AND a woman of color. In this interview you will find insights into thinking bigger, leading from your seat at the table, finding your voice, helping you “Power UP” too.
Jocelyn Mangan, CEO & Founder of Him For Her an organization focused on accelerating diversity on for-profit boards. Placing women in a seat at the director level is essential for fueling the narrative and perspective of business operations with a direct lead into profit margins. Diverse boards that include women have proven to be better for business. Yet only one in five public-company directors are female. In my interview with Jocelyn, we discuss the gaps between board opportunities and talented women who are ready for board service. Megan believes “The problem isn't the pipeline, it’s the network.” There is no shortage of qualified female executives interested in board service. This is only the road to the top which has not been well "heeled" by women. Now is the time to reach higher and take the seat that will help you enhance your ability to influence, challenge, instruct, innovate and usher in change from the top down. There is room at the table, Jocelyn will help you take a seat! www.himforher.org

Jenny has a BA and MA from Stanford, MBA from Harvard Business School, and was a Fulbright Scholar at The London School of Economics.” In this interview we will discuss how important it is to support women owned businesses and innovations. VC’s are beginning to see that choosing women to invest in is not only a smart business choice but a lucrative one. Some VC's see investing in women owned businesses as a game changing opportunity. No matter what the November 3rd outcome is, it's time to take bigger steps to bring our innovations forward and seek the funding we need. The number of women ventures funded by VC’s is small, especially in technology. What this means is there is room for us to get funded. Jenny will tell us how!
I've been on a mini sabbatical by taking time off to listen and to gather my thinking. There's a lot going on! I will share knowledge sentiments and thoughts on what next steps look like for women in power. I will pull on today's trends to enhance our personal expression by using examples of powerful women and men who are taking and have taken a stand to transform our country.
Angie Bado announced her candidacy for Texas House of Representatives, District 70 as a Democrat. She believes that for too long, the majority of Texans in her district, have not had a voice at the table. Angie feels it's time to bring back collaboration, consensus building and open communication that fosters accomplishing legislation that is important to all people. She faces the challenge of systemic racism in America and looks for answers to eliminate its cause and effect. Angie shares why it is important as a political leader to have a deeper conversation about racism in order to truly lead. “I am a white woman of privilege, I realized that I’ve been complacent and complicit in perpetuating racism. I asked myself “what role can/should I play in facilitating change”.? “How do we have, honest discussions about racism?” “How do I have these sensitive and meaningful discussions with my black friends?” “How do I approach these conversations from a position of trust?” “As a political leader how do I help my community become more whole and just?” Answering these questions are critical. So, Angie and I discuss Six Key Points: What drove her to run for office - and why now? Her feelings about Divisiveness in our Country / Texas How to take ownership of the fact that my White Privilege has perpetuated Racism? Why is it important for women to run for office? How can my candidacy help advance African Americans and the underserved in Texas/Country? Why is Voting THE power of the public As a state rep., Angie’s vision would be for the legislature to get to a place where, our leaders fight to support the values we believe in, while passionately fighting for solutions that will put ALL people over politics. The Power of Shifting Our Beliefs -“Don’t believe everything you think.” Catherine Crooker noticed a car with a bumper sticker on it, saying, “Don’t believe everything you think.” This ah ha” moment prompted her to expand that thought with “Don’t assume your view is the only view.” And frankly, “your view may need an upgrade or do over”. Statistics show that Women dominate in volunteer roles and in the Non-profit field as primary contributors. Catherine has noticed that women who ultimately raise millions of dollars helping organizations to realize, and fulfill organizations fundraising goals, are not considered for primary leadership positions in the fundraising community. Catherine is bold in her belief that it is time to shift how women see themselves in raising, handling, and asking for money, not only in places we volunteer and work, but for ourselves as well! It is necessary to ask for more, see ourselves with more and to value ourselves for bringing so much more to the table. Catherine inspires us to lift our thinking to a bold new vision and reeducate our minds by shifting our beliefs, opening space for amazing things to happen. She tells us not to be stuck on what we see in the rearview mirror.

As she moved on to college she was faced with an experience of how it felt to be told that she was “like” her best friend. She never saw herself as anything other than an American immigrant whose family moved here from Korea. Megan faced what it felt like to be compared to her best friend who had a different upbringing though both from the mid-west. Her friend grew up in a White family and Megan from an Asian family. It took a bold move on Megan’s part to share with her best friend that in her rush to make Megan “like” her that she had not understood or recognized the differences between them. Megan’s story moved me and help me understand not only the immigration story but why seeing the differences first is critical to recognizing the gifts that other cultures bring to the fabric of America.
