In this compelling episode of Tech Talks Daily, I am joined by Terry Ray, Senior Vice President at Imperva, for a crucial discussion on a frequently overlooked aspect of data security: protecting low-value data. Terry brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective, warning organizations about ignoring what is often perceived as insignificant data. Throughout the episode, Terry emphasizes a critical message: no data should be ignored, regardless of its perceived value. He draws an analogy between data security and home security, illustrating how leaving low-value data unprotected is akin to leaving your front door wide open. This oversight can give cybercriminals a foothold, allowing them to gather insights and eventually target more valuable, sensitive data. The conversation delves into why organizations need to monitor low-risk data as intensely as high-risk data. Terry argues that the goal of data security shouldn't be merely to catch criminals in the act but to identify and thwart their efforts before they can execute their plans. He stresses that even data classified as low risk can be extremely valuable in the wrong hands, necessitating vigilant monitoring and protection akin to other cybersecurity practices. We explore real-world examples where organizations have suffered significant breaches due to insufficient attention to low-value data. These examples highlight the need for comprehensive visibility and knowledge of all data types to detect and respond to breaches effectively. A vital part of the discussion focuses on balancing data accessibility and security. Terry underscores the importance of continuous monitoring and analysis of unusual behavior and implementing robust controls to ensure that data access is both authorized and secure. In a world where data breaches are increasingly common and sophisticated, Terry advises organizations to prioritize data security and close any existing gaps in their security strategies. He also highlights the growing importance of leveraging machine learning and AI in analyzing data and identifying potential risks.

“Gabby has fired you”. For many people, being fired as the assistant to a Dog may have ended their career. But not the guest on this episode of Big Conversations, Little Bar. Writer, actor, TV therapist and big winner on Scrabble Terry Ray talks with Patrick Evans and Randy Florence.Terry has gone on to write 11 TV Movies, an award-winning short Film and the longest running play in Palm Springs. That play, Electricity, will be moving off-Broadway in the very near future. Terry's career seems to have been one story after another (all of them, except with Gabby, very successful). Honestly, do any others have stories of meeting with Batman while he was getting ready and still in his tighty-whities? Terry has Patrick and Randy gasping for air as he tells more about his days as a student of Charles Nelson Reilly, writing a show that starred Loni Anderson and doing TV therapy for some of the most iconic characters in TV (think Eddie Munster, Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island, Isaac from the Love Boat). You'll become a huge fan of Terry's after listening to his infectious and hilarious personality!

In the words of Terry Ray:"I can't remember not wanting to be an actor. To be fair, I can barely remember having hair, but still. It's a passion I've fought hard to nurture and a dream I've never given up on, even when it defied all odds and all logic... and believe me, it usually did... Then one day I decided to quit waiting for the phone to ring for that one line as the theater manager on 7th HEAVEN (of course I used an example that I booked) and create my own opportunities by adding the hyphenates writer-producer to the acting thang. I teamed with Larry LaFond and we amazingly hit a home run our first time at bat (look at me with the sports metaphors) with the incredibly successful little short film GAYDAR, which was in over 120 film festivals, won a ton of awards and was recently named by California Independent Film Festival as one of the 20 Best Comedy Short Films of all time. Larry and I also made a short film called THE COST OF LIVING, a way too timely comedy about life after global co-starring Jim J. Bullock, Molly Hagan & Greg Mullavey. (More film festivals and awards).I'm the creator, writer and star of HERE TV's first original sitcom FROM HERE ON OUT (available on Amazon Prime) with Juliet Mills as well as the co-creator-writer-producer-star (sharing that "co" with Wendy Michaels) of MY SISTER IS SO GAY (Amazon Prime) with Loni Anderson as my mother. I got to co-star in 5 seasons of Michael Vaccaro's star-studded comedy CHILD OF THE 70s. I wrote and co-created the game show MODD COUPLES now playing on Hulu, I co-wrote the 2017 TV movie LOVE UNPLUGGED. My new show, TV THERAPY features a different classic TV character (played once again by the original actor) in a therapy session today (with me as the doctor) with all the issue they would currently have... Since 2016 I've been starring in ELECTRICITY (my debut as a playwright)....Mel England as my co-star we became the longest running play in Palm Springs, performing in two venues at the same time: as an immersive theater experience inside a real Palm Springs hotel room and also on stage as Oscar's Bar & Cabaret Theater and then moving to The Desert Rose Playhouse as our final venue and we prepare for an Off-Broadway run. I'm the first instructor at the famed Actor's Lab's new Palm Springs branch of their acting school. Maybe my master plan is starting to work"! -Terry Ray Epilogue: Terry's latest play is THE LINCOLN DEBATE which explores the possibility that Lincoln was actually gay. It premiered in Palm Springs in December 2022 and will be returning in the Spring of 2023 at The Bent Theatre- Palm Spring's newest and only gay theatre. Terry is also the managing director of The Bent.See Terry's full bio and other fun info at: http://www.terryray.tvPhoto: Copyright Wilkinson/2023Opening and closing music courtesy the very talented Zakhar Valaha via Pixabay. To contact Wilkinson- email him at BecomingWilkinson@gmail.com
Jason Reale is a recent transplant from NYC where he was a director of design for a global branding agency. At the age of thirty he decided to change up his life, quit his job and rediscover his passion for acting by studying the Hagen technique at HB Studio. It was there where he was able to start to unravel the facade he had built up over the years and reawaken his creative spark. Since moving to Palm Springs he has started to find his people through the plays he has been cast in. His most recent play, The Lincoln Debate by Terry Ray, poses the questions of Lincolns sexuality. This play has been his most challenging role to date and probably the role that has helped him grow the most. It doesn't hurt that he shares a lot in common with the sixteenth president, besides just the beard. Consumers worry about sharing data online, yet most feel they have “no choice” but to share their data if they want to use online services. It's a catch 22 — and it is not a bus.Trust is waning. A majority of consumers, globally, say that trust in the many digital service providers' ability to keep their personal data secure has decreased over the past five years.Still, despite serious concerns, most consumers share their darkest secrets online via cloud messaging services even though they recognize there would be repercussions for them if the information they shared was leaked. No question, it's a catch 22. But what do we do? That's the catch. Data Security is often seen as the “scary” or “intimidating” domain of security. And, yet, it's needed more than ever before.Historically, it's a domain of security that is typically found in highly regulated industries. However, data is the currency of the modern economy and the fuel behind nearly every organization. Business large and small collect, create, store, manipulate, and share data that is sensitive in nature and valuable to cybercriminals.2022 must be the year where data security becomes attainable for all. The solution to the problem can't be bigger than the problem itself. And, the problem can't be defined as dealing with it in real-time. It's important we use data to protect the data, getting ahead of the threat.Ready to learn about data security? Welcome aboard!Note: This story contains promotional content. He played big time college football (Boomer Sooner), played in the NFL and CFL, worked in the front office of an NFL team (Redskins), and was a player agent. The California Consumer Privacy Act is being touted as one of the strongest privacy regulations in the U.S. enacted so far. However, though the CCPA was adopted on January 1, 2020, the act still has several loose ends and privacy loopholes that need to be fleshed out. At a high level ,the CCPA mandates strict requirements for companies to notify users about how their user data will be used and monetized along with giving them straightforward tools for opting out. However, one of the bigger challenges with the CCPA is the question of tracking the location of that user data, Terry Ray, SVP and fellow with Imperva, tells Threatpost.
In the studio tonight, UFO Classified’s host Erica Lukes!! The US government acknowledged this week the existence of UFO’s. We are going to be talk about that AND of course ALIENS. I am Cameron Brauer and this is my alien life…… Erica Lukes’ passion for the subject of Unidentified Flying Objects dates back to her early childhood. After a series of personal UFO sightings in 2013, however, Erica felt compelled to find out what was taking place in her home state of Utah. She decided to take an active role in the UFO subject and, as a result, joined MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network. Such are Erica’s skills in the field of Ufology, she quickly went from being a MUFON Field Investigator to the Utah State Director for MUFON. She soon took on the role of Associate Producer for the MUFON Communications Team. Erica is also a part of the MUFON Experiencer Research Team. Erica’s efforts led her to being officially recognized as “MUFON Volunteer of the Year,” in both 2014 and 2015. She now serves as the Communications Director for the International Association of UAP Researchers. As her busy schedule increased, Erica chose to resign her post as MUFON State Director. Today, she is the head of UNEXPLANED UTAH , an organization which is focused upon scientifically researching UAP – otherwise known as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. Erica works with other UFO-based organizations, too, and on a global level, no less. She is driven to not only broaden public awareness of UAP, but also to develop research protocols that can be utilized by other organizations and to streamline the research process. Erica strongly believes it is imperative that UFO organizations work together to share information. Erica is the team-leader on a research program called “Project Orange.” This project is specifically dedicated to studying sightings and clusters of orange/red orbs (which are also known as fireballs). On this particular project, she works with several MUFON Field Investigators: Robert Spearing, Terry Ray and Geoff Cox. Their protocols and findings are now an integral part of MUFON Education, an accomplishment they are all extremely proud of. Both Utah’s famous Skinwalker Ranch and its surrounding areas have held a strong, and lasting, interest for Erica. She has collected decades’ worth of case reports from this area, and particularly so with regards to mass sightings of UFOs, as well as mysterious mutilations of animals, and alien abductions. Erica is an artist, as well as an accomplished, recognized, professional singer. She has been the lead-vocalist for many of Utah’s top bands. She also performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics. In addition, Erica has taken part in voice-over productions, and she has worked in the fields of radio and television, too. Erica’s innate ability to put others at ease, combined with a powerful stage presence, has helped her to positively influence those who come into contact with her, or those who tune into her regular broadcasts. According to Terry Ray, SVP and Fellow at Imperva (previously Chief Technology Officer), practices and safety around data privacy and the cloud, though slowly improving, still leave much to be desired. He and Brian Contos discuss the concept of absolute security and why businesses benefit more from calculating acceptable risk based on their unique critical assets.

Dennis visits the Silver Lake apartment of actor-writer-producer Terry Ray to discuss his hotel room-set play "Electricity," which is currently playing to packed crowds in an actual hotel room at INNDulge in Palm Springs. Terry talks about what inspired him to write the play, how acting in an actual hotel room instead of a theater changed his performance, onstage nudity, aging four decades throughout the play and hanging out with his audience after around the hotel. Terry also talks about doing uncredited writing on TV movies and getting notes like "This is a comedy but it shouldn't be funny." He shares fun "Gilligan's Island" tidbits he learned from Dawn Wells while shooting the web series "She's Still On that Freakin' Island." He also talks about having "Too Close To Comfort" actor Jim J. Bullock as his real life wacky neighbor, manufacturing and selling toy Gaydar guns inspired by hie short film "Gaydar" and working with Loni Anderson, Charles Nelson Reilly, Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Rock. Other topics include: Terry's natural optimism, generating his own roles, outing himself on the game show "Scrabble," his lowest point professionally and the best thing he ever got for free; a trip of a lifetime to Africa. http://electricitytheplay.com/index.html www.terryray.tv * Note from Dennis: I recorded this podcast with some new recording equipment that I mention in the interview...but I didn't get the settings right so the recording you're hearing is actually the backup recording I did on my phone... Working to sort out the bugs with the new equipment so I can make it sound as great as possible.

If you had asked him at the age of 3 what he wanted to be when he grew up, he would have said an actor. He was transformed by an understandable confusion when his mom took him to see Mary Poppins. Terry Ray, author of , “The Complete Story of the World Wide Invasion of the Orange Orbs” You don’t have to go far to hear about someone you know that has seen an Orange/Red orb. Terry maps out this global phenom, studies it and is not afraid to make some assertions as to what may be behind this mystery. Terry is a former military pilot, trial lawyer, law professor and is currently a novelist and MUFON field investigator. They chat about Terry’s own sighting that kickstarted this recent obsession of his. And the guys are the first to find out about the 2014 stats.
