How I Built It

I remember the first time after my wife and I started dating that a mutual friend of ours became pregnant. I was the first one to find out and got to relay the message to her."Amy's pregnant," I said. My wife then asked a series of questions: "When is she due? What is she having? How is she feeling?" I had the same answer to every question: "I don't know."All I knew was that Amy was pregnant. My wife later went out and found this information for both of us. All these details were crucial to being a more present and supportive friend. So why am I telling you this? if you are running a business, especially a solo business where your time is so important, and you are not time tracking, it's kind of like knowing just the bare minimum. You might know you completed a project, but you should really know how long you spent on it, where you are spending most of your time, and how you can use this data to improve your business. So in today's episode, you'll learn about the importance of time tracking for solopreneurs. Time tracking is not just about noting down hours; it's about understanding where your time goes, improving efficiency, and making informed business decisions.Top TakeawaysStart Simple: Begin with basic time-tracking methods like pen and paper or simple apps. The key is to start noting down where your time goes, even if it's just approximate.Use the Right Tools: I recommend using tools like Timery (which sits on top of Toggl), Timing, and RescueTime. These tools can help automate the process and provide detailed insights into how you spend your time.Categorize and Tag Tasks: Break down your tasks into projects and use tags for more granular tracking. This helps in understanding which specific activities are taking up most of your time and allows for better analysis.Regular Reviews: Review your time tracking data regularly—weekly, monthly, and quarterly. This helps in identifying trends and making necessary adjustments to improve efficiency.Automate Where Possible: Use shortcuts and automation tools like Stream Deck and focus modes on iOS to start and stop timers automatically. This reduces the manual effort involved in time tracking. Sponsors: Check out Liquid WebGet started with Clariti for just $1 your first month with code SOLO2024 ★ Support this podcast ★

Many think trading is just about reading charts and making predictions. But in reality — trading is a full-blown reflection of our daily habits and decisions. This revelation is the cornerstone of my latest podcast episode, "Trading Up: Discipline in the Details." I dive into my own story of how trading isn't just about financial gain, but a mirror to our daily lives—reflecting our habits, discipline, and even our diet. You see, trading has taught me some unexpected lessons, like the importance of handling setbacks without letting emotions take the wheel, a common pitfall known as 'revenge trading.' More fascinating, I've discovered how our physical health, particularly what and when we eat, can affect our mental sharpness and decisions. Who knew that stabilizing glucose levels could make such a difference in focus and discipline? In this episode, I also explore practical tools that help maintain discipline, like the diet app "Eat This Much" and the time management tool "Rescue Time," which have both revolutionized the way I manage my daily routines. So, if you're curious about how simple daily habits can lead to significant improvements not just in trading but in life, tune into "Trading Up: Discipline in the Details." Let's explore together how these small changes can bring big results! https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/zach-schuenke/episodes/Trading-Up-Discipline-in-the-Details-e2kn92g

Lo Que Quieres En 2024, Alcanzar Objetivos En 2024, Visualizar, Propósitos Nuevo Año, Objetivos, Hábitos, Rescue Time podcast, Podcast Corporativo, Comunicación Organizacional, Recursos Humanos, Desarrollo Profesional, Desarrollo Personal, Comunicación Efectiva, Santiago Ríos, Mil Palabras

Streamline Your Day: BOOST Your Productivity With AUTOMATION

Federal Contracting Made Easy's podcast

Play Episode Listen Later May 23, 2023 1:58

In this video/podcast, we will explore the topic of boosting productivity through automation. We'll discuss various tools and techniques that can help you streamline your day, saving time and energy. By harnessing the power of automation, you can focus on important tasks and achieve more efficiency in your daily workflow. Zapier and IFTTT: Zapier and IFTTT (If This Then That) are powerful automation platforms that allow you to connect different apps and services. They work on the principle of triggers and actions, enabling you to create automated workflows, known as "Zaps" or "Applets." These tools eliminate the need for repetitive manual tasks by automating them. For example, you can automatically save email attachments to cloud storage or create a task in your to-do list when a new email arrives. Email Templates: Composing similar emails repeatedly can be time-consuming. Email templates are pre-written messages that can be customized and reused for common scenarios. By using email templates, you can save time and maintain consistency in your communication. Many email clients and productivity tools offer built-in or customizable templates, making it easy to respond to inquiries, schedule meetings, or send follow-ups quickly. Calendly or Doodle: Scheduling meetings can be a hassle, especially when coordinating with multiple participants. Tools like Calendly and Doodle simplify the process by allowing you to share your availability and let others choose a suitable time slot. These tools integrate with your calendar and eliminate the back-and-forth emails or messages involved in scheduling. With just a few clicks, you can efficiently manage your appointments and save valuable time. LastPass or 1Password: Remembering multiple passwords for different accounts can be a daunting task. Password managers like LastPass and 1Password securely store your login credentials, generating strong passwords and auto-filling them when needed. By using a password manager, you can improve security, save time, and reduce the frustration of password management. Additionally, these tools often offer features like secure note storage, form filling, and synchronization across devices. RescueTime or Toggl: Maintaining focus and tracking time spent on various tasks is crucial for productivity. RescueTime and Toggl are productivity apps that help you analyze and manage your time effectively. RescueTime runs in the background, tracking your activity on different applications and websites. It provides detailed reports on your time usage, allowing you to identify time sinks and make informed decisions. Toggl, on the other hand, is a time-tracking tool that lets you log the time you spend on specific tasks or projects. By understanding how you allocate your time, you can optimize your workflow and prioritize important activities. Conclusion: Automation tools such as Zapier, IFTTT, email templates, scheduling apps like Calendly or Doodle, password managers like LastPass or 1Password, and productivity trackers like RescueTime or Toggl can significantly enhance your productivity by minimizing repetitive tasks, optimizing scheduling, simplifying password management, and providing insights into your time allocation. By incorporating these automation techniques into your daily routine, you can streamline your day and focus on what truly matters, ultimately achieving greater efficiency and productivity.

What is needed is to add a JVM argument to the server. In my case I am using Ortus CommandBox and their ‘server.json' definition. I added this in the ‘jvm' section:```"jvm":{    "args":[        "-Dcoldfusion.datemask.useDasdayofmonth=true"    ]}```That's the only change that is needed; the mentioned JAR hotfix is not needed. Algunos so más organizados y enfocados. Wake the Faith up Slayer… This is Garth Heckman with the David Alliance and you can reach me at TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com    Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com Gym Apparel for men and women that rocks and shocks and ain't for everybody - but just might be for you. wellbuiltbody.com     On Mercury, a day is two years long.   What you think of as a day – how long it takes the Earth to rotate – isn't 24 hours. It's 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.2 seconds. The reason it's 24 hours from sunrise to sunrise is because every day the Earth moves further in its orbit round the sun – and the change in its position lengthens the day slightly.   A second isn't what you think it is. Scientifically, it's not defined as 1/60th of a minute, but as "the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom".   speaking of time -lightning strikes Earth 6,000 times every minute.   There are total 31,557,600 seconds in a year. 1."Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin." - Mother Teresa 2."Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week's value out of a year while another man gets a full year's value out of a week." -- Charles Richards Statistics have revealed that an average employee spends 2 hours per day recovering from distractions. Also, according to RescueTime, on average, we spend 3 hours and 15 minutes a day (49.4 days per year) on our phones. BusinessFirstFamily has stated that poor communication has also been responsible for the loss of 280 hours per year.   Isaiah 40:31 Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. teach me Lord teach me lord to wait.      - The wait is the process. The process is painful. The hebrew word for wait is Kawvaw… it means to be drawn under tension. You are not just waiting like sitting in your lounge chair watching espn surfing your phone, there is a tension… when will this happen, how will lit happen, is it going to happen.  And that is the process. The process is learning how to deal with the Fathers tension… every person in scripture who was used by God had to wait with tension… Joseph… had a dream and had to wait under tension to see it manifest, David was anointed King and had to wait years under tension to see it manifest. The apostle Paul was saved and had to wait under tension 13 years before he started his ministry… the list goes on and on.  Enjoy the wait! it will build your faith   The wait is the purpose… not the outcome. So many times we think that what is coming will be worth the wait… but the truth is simply this: the wait is worth the wait. In what other situation will you be put in where you have no control, you have no idea when, you are not sure if ever it will happen… and you don't know if it will be a bust or not. This is all wrapped up in the process of waiting. So you have to wait 4 months to get that new job.. but are you using the wait time to become the best employee. Waiting is waiting for you to assign its purpose. And trust me God will also assign his own purpose if you are careful enough to watch for it.  I can't tell you how many times I have waited for things from God only to look back after receiving them and thanking him more for the wait then the blessing I received. I love what Jim Rohn says that ties into this so nicely “why make a million dollars? because of what it will make of you for you to make a million dollars. I would add, why wait? for what it will do to you in the waiting process.    The wait is the promise- it is where the seed of faith lys, every promise has a built in waiting period. If I tell my son I am giving you a new bike, and just hand it to him… that is nice, but it builds up zero trust and faith in my son between the two of us. However if I say I am bringing a new bike home today from work… well he has to wait and trust. If I say I am getting you a new bike for your birthday and that is in 7 months… he has to wait longer and have his faith tested… but in 7 months, he will be able  to say… I knew it… my Dad promised!  Look at Joseph, Paul, David, Peter, Abraham, Solomon… even Jesus had to wait for his promise. He had to wait 3 days to raise up from the grave…  Don't fret over waiting, let it sink in and enjoy the ride. Those that wait upon the Lord… those that under tension and pressure still wait on him, will be rewarded… don't give up to soon and miss the blessing!

I connected with Mike Vardy at the World Domination Summit in August, a worldwide gathering of remarkable people, and he is no exception.. Mike is a writer, speaker, podcaster and founder of Productivityist. He also manages to add a lot of humor and entertainment into the productivity space. Mike is a productivityist, or a productivity enthusiast. He enjoys studying the tools and habits of productivity, and he looks at the world differently because of it. Through the Productivityist blog and podcast, Mike is helping people stop “doing” productive and start “being” productive, by giving them the tools to start paying attention and setting the right intentions. We start our conversation about productivity discussing non-alcoholic beer and decaffeinated coffee. Seemingly tangential, body and energy are directly tied to productivity so I was interested to hear about his recent experiments in cutting both of these from his life. “I really enjoy finding ways to keep the rituals I have, but also do it in a way that's responsible and allows me to be the night owl that I am ... but not have those productivity spikes.” Mike sees most people getting stuck in a trap of doing just for the sake of doing, and that's not productive. “They'll basically go through the motions, they don't really segment out their to-do list, and as a result they end up with a fragmented to-do list.” They work haphazardly, trying to get as many things done as possible, until the day is done. Then they get home, wiped out, and do nothing.   “The problem is, when we do that, we aren't moving forward with any kind of purpose.”   At World Domination Summit, Mike talked about the idea of theming your work days, and the idea resonates with a lot of people. “Your calendar should be your overarching guide, but the details are in the to-do list.” What people tend to do is look at a given day, without giving it any meaning or purpose, then go through a checklist without intention. Mike doesn't like the idea of letting your schedule be your guide, or hyper scheduling, because it leaves no room for flexibility. If you theme your day and something unexpected comes up, like a last-minute coaching session, then you aren't lost when you get back to work. “I think there's some merit to giving themes to each day so you have an overarching focus, but when you hyper schedule yourself you run the risk of just completely falling off track, feeling overwhelmed and feeling that you haven't accomplished what you set out to do over the day.” It doesn't matter if you're a startup founder, working on your side hustle or a stay-at-home parent, theming your days can help you be productive. For someone who can't completely untether him or herself from their email, at least make it more manageable. Mike talks about the idea of Inbox Today. While many people try to get to Inbox 0, Mike tries to clear the backlog so that you only see email from today. Additionally, your inbox shouldn't be where you go to look for things. “It's a loading bay, not a warehouse”   Mike has a system called Three Mail, where each email goes into one of three folders. It's a simple process: Set up folders for every day of the week that you want to deal with e-mails (if that's every day, that's fine). When you get an e-mail, decide what day you want to deal with it, and then move it to the appropriate folder. When you first sit down with your email on a given day, deal with the folder for that day first. Then, organize your backlogged emails again.   Mike uses a number of physical and digital tools to improve his productivity: He believes that a digital task manager is a must in this day and age. “Your mind really is meant to be a factory and not a warehouse, so if you keep trying to store things in here you're just going to slow things down.” It's important to have a digital task manager for long term things, even if you're a paper person. Mike uses todoist, and Wunderlist is also simple and collaborative. He also uses Asana for team-based tasks. To maximize productivity, you may also want to track how long you spend on different tasks. To track how long you are spending on different websites, so you can see what is taking most of your time, RescueTime is a great tool. If you want to track where team members are spending their time, Time Doctor is a great tool. Mike also uses a device called Saent to track his time. It's a small button that you click to track how long it takes you to perform certain tasks, and it allows you to label websites as good or evil. Mike is beta testing a new product, called a ZIE. It is like an 8-sided die with blank sides, which you label. When you turn it to any given side, it starts tracking that time. It then integrates with a tool called Toggl.   “I like both the Saent and the Zie, because it's physical. It sits on your desk. You can't help but see it. I think physical tools, like having those visuals in front of you, are really important, because, frankly, digital tools can hide in the background. This can't.” Mike isn't actually a diehard tracker, but he believes the tools can be helpful for putting yourself in a good, productive mindset. Your brain sees the day or time, sees what it should be doing, and everything outside of that can fall away. “Again, paying attention and setting the right intentions. These tracking tools, unless you have the right intentions for them and then you find a way to pay attention to them, they're not going to be as much help to you as you'd like them to be.” “I'm a big believer in human automation, the automation that you set up … I'm not as huge a believer in setting up a bunch of digital automations because they can break, and they're not as connected to you.” Productivityist recently self-published The Productivityist Playbook. It includes video interviews, audio and a number of productivity plays. When you buy the guide, you receive 15 plays, and you can assemble your own productivity playbook out of them. If listeners of the show go to Productivityist.com/TheBoldLife, they will get one play for free! (Thanks Mike!) “I'm a big believer that even when business isn't personal, productivity always is. I don't think there's enough talk about the personal component of productivity, and I really want to put the personal back into it. That's what this whole guide is designed to do.” Mike is probably the most entertaining person in the productivity space, and I appreciate him coming on the podcast to talk. He gave us a lot of great tips and tools for living a bold life with more attention and the right intentions.   SOME QUESTIONS I ASK: Where are the biggest areas that Mike sees people struggling with their productivity? This episode is about using technology to automatically collect and analyse data about your life. I share some examples of my own automated tracking of health and productivity data. I'm using various apps to analyse the data in the background and compile all the results into an automated, objective journal. It's getting easier all the time to quantify your life with minimal effort.  Doing so can give you objective data and meaningful analysis about whatever matters to you. This can help you to live a more conscious and fulfilled life.
