Tread Perilously finally returns to the ABC Afterschool Specials for a month featuring YA novels before YA became a thing, surprising guests stars, and one special that did not air on ABC. It all begins with Sara's Summer of the Swans. Riding out what she claims to be the worst summer of her life, Sara Godfrey's bad attitude is about the be adjusted by the disappearance of her younger brother, Charlie. Is he at the lake to see the swans before they leave south for the winter? Is he in the forest? And will a helpful Christopher Knight be the key to Sara finding Charlie and feeling better about her bummer of a summer? Erik and Justin debate whether or not a certain surprise guest is a surprise guest. Geography Corner leads to various Los Angeles locales that could play as the Midwest. Justin notes the huge change in YA fiction across the last 50 years. He also recalls his old AfterSchool Specials column on The Satellite Show blog. A character's choice to dye her shoes leads to a lot of tangents. Erik and Justin both recall going into the woods unsupervised as children -- both literally and metaphorically. A wild Eve Plumb appears and an invitation to an end-of-summer party leads to a potent running joke.
This week: Eve answers some questions about her Brady memorabilia auction, her favorite roles pre and post Brady Bunch, who was the funniest cast member off-set, what tips she and Chris use to play characters, and more... It's a special Q&A (#48). Ed and Chris are joined by Eve Plumb to answer your fan questions! Get yours submitted to our Facebook page @realbradybros. Ask away for the next one. Tread Perilously's pilot season concludes with the TV movie The Brady Girls Get Married. Six or so years after the conclusion of The Brady Bunch, Jan comes home with good news: her boyfriend Phillip Covington III has proposed! Unfortunately, Mike and Carol momentarily hesitate to give their blessing because they always imagined Marcia would get married first. Meanwhile, Marcia -- feeling some of the fallout -- meets Wally Logan, who immediately suggests they get married even though they've just met. Will Marcia fall for his charms? Will the Brady girls enjoy a double wedding? And will this somehow lead to a series? Justin declares Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb as the best actors among the Brady Kids. He also argues he may be too young to find The Brady Bunch foundational. Erik disagrees. He also suggests a certain worldview from the Schwartz family via the Brady shows and Baywatch. Problems with 500 Days of Summer are once again aired. Phillip turns out to be the bad guy as Justin finally comes to understand Wally better. Mike Brady knows a lot about ninjas, Q, and the cocaine trade. Justin once again stumps for Slap Shot and Geography Corner goes to Los Angeles area hotels.

Once and forever a Brady! Christopher Knight met life as a child actor, starring as "Peter Brady" in the TV classic hit show The Brady Bunch. A reluctant icon, Christopher has focused his adult years on interests beyond the entertainment industry, particularly the corporate world of computers and high technology. My guest, Christoper Knight, and I discuss: Christopher Knight talks about his appearance on The Masked Singer with fellow Brady boys Barry Williams and Mike Lookinland. Christopher reflects on the pressure put on the Brady kids to become singers and his struggle with that based on his lack of singing talent. Christopher opens up about his home life during his Brady run and the pressure his Mom put on him to be a singer and her disappointment in The Brady Bunch, which she didn't deem real art. Christopher's dad had a guest role on the Brady Bunch. Auditioning as a kid for so many TV shows before landing his iconic role as Peter Brady. He occasionally bumped into a very young Jodie Foster during auditions. Learning to impersonate Humphry Bogart with the help of Lloyd Schwartz - "pork chops and applesauce." Christopher's pivotal role in Sharknado 6: It's About Time as Nova's Grandpa Clarke. We discuss Cousin Oliver, Robbie Rist, and the changing dynamic of The Brady Bunch at the time Robbie joined the show. Robert Reed's tension on the set but his love for his Brady family. The HGTV's A Very Brady Renovation and the secret behind the lack of toilets in The Brady Bunch. Christopher Knight's post-Brady success in the furniture business with Christopher Knight Home. We’re not gonna mince words. This week’s episode is a doozy. We just got back from a very Joni Mitchell-inspired vacation in Maine and we are rejuved, repurposed, and rebornt. This week we have a good old fashioned sleepover with Ryan O’Connor (co-host of the greatest lady-podcast of all time: “LadyWatch with Ryan & Jason”) and lady-in-waiting: Natalie Joy Johnson (Broadway’s “Kinky Boots,” “Legally Blonde.”) We experience cities through Broadway musicals, get the scoop on the birth of LadyWatch and Ryan’s famous “PFEIFFER” declaration, we lounge in our caftans and plan a brunch, unpack our dating lives, somehow land on Peri Gilpin, and finally – cold call Jason Powell who thinks we called because Liza died. You guys. @LadyWatchpod (You should ABSOLUTELY be subscribed to this.) @therealeveplumb (Hey, gwahrl!) @ryanoconnor (He's the guest.) @njjisrelentless (She's the recurring correspondent.)

Screenwriter Jeff Roda is not someone who's going to be bragging about his accomplishments. You will, in fact, have to attempt to drag them out of him—and you still won't be successful at learning much. Everything about what he's done career wise must be gleaned through Google. And here it is: he's written screenplays for DreamWorks, Paramount Pictures and New Regency Films, and television pilots for the WB, CBS and Media Rights Capital. He was a producer on Love Liza starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Kathy Bates, has written three Black List scripts and he is currently developing his pilot When I'm Sixty-Four for HBO. He's also either 12 or 13 years sober, according to him (it was determined that it was 13) and has a lot to say about developing emotional maturity, becoming invisible as you age and isolating (the conversation is a lot more hilarious and uplifting than it sounds, swear). In this episode, we talked about reminding your hairdresser of her uncle, Eve Plumb (that's Jan Brady to you and me), long-term sobriety and whether or not his friend Andrew is a figment of his imagination, among other topics.
Eve Plumb reflects on the real-life and TV families from her childhood, and a slide show on a family trip goes awry.
