With a catalogue as extensive as INXS', there was bound to be moments in time when certain songs captured the zeitgeist attention of the music buying public and critics. Look no further than January 28th, 1988 when a humble hard working sextet from Australia hit number one on the Billboard Charts with Need You Tonight. A song, that now, sounds so familiar, crisp and radio friendly but then, a new modern twist on funk, soul and pop with sound production so cutting edge, every breath, ooh and aah sounded like Michael Hutchence was singing it to you directly from your living room. Combined with an innovative, breathtaking and cutting edge video clip, Need you Tonight put INXS into the stratosphere of superstardom and success. MTV awards ensued, world tours were booked and the album Kick had the necessary momentum to spawn 4 subsequent hit singles and international acclaim. Five years later in February 1993, a less prominent and commercially successful track was released as the fifth single to Welcome to Wherever You are, namely Beautiful Girl. A self-penned track by Andrew Farriss as an ode to new fatherhood, this restrained, mellow and resonant song showcased a maturity, subtlety and consciousness to both the INXS writing and recording process. Charting steadily if not spectacularly, the film clip by Mark Pellington of U2 and Pearl Jam fame would garner a Grammy nomination for Best Video of the Year losing out to Peter Gabriel's “Steam” clip. That aside, the social conscious messaging of the clip resonated nicely with the lyrical content whilst Michael's channeling of Lou Reed, circa The Velvet Underground era only added to its worthiness. So sit back and reminisce as we step back in time and honour two distinct but two important songs in the INXS catalogue that still resonate 37 and 32 years later respectively. Love and Peace Haydn & Bee https://www.inxsaccessallareas.com/episodes https://www.change.org/p/induct-inxs-into-the-rock-roll-hall-of-fame-2025

Close Email: sclose@emxroyalty.com Phone: +1 (303) 973-8585 About EMX Royalty: EMX Royalty Corporation has a long-standing track record of success in exploration discovery, royalty generation, royalty acquisition, and strategic investments. Our diversified, three-pronged business approach provides exposure to multiple upside opportunities while minimizing the impact on EMX's treasury. EMX's business model is designed to efficiently manage the risks inherent to the minerals exploration and mining industry. Key elements and resulting advantages of our unique approach are: We organically generate royalties through low-cost property acquisition and early-stage exploration to build value, and then develop partnerships with quality companies to advance the projects, with EMX retaining a royalty interest and receiving pre-production payments. Our organic royalty growth is supplemented by purchases of royalties from other parties, as well as strategic investments. Cash flow from royalties, advance royalties, and other property payments are supplemented by returns from strategic investments and provide "self-funding" operating capital for our ongoing business initiatives. Using this model, we sustainably grow the royalty portfolio, with minimal dilution to our shareholders. EMX's royalty and property portfolio spanning five continents and consists of a balanced mix of precious metal, base metal, and other assets. On this episode, we talk with Keith Zubchevich, President and CEO at Conviva, the pioneer in standards for real-time, cross-screen, end-to-end streaming media intelligence. Keith and his team started the company over sixteen years ago, back when there was basically no video on the internet. There was no YouTube and no streaming yet. The only way to consume video online was via a flash player on a PC.As video began to proliferate, his company was a pioneer in measurement of performance. Since online video was new, performance was key to success, and that performance needed to be measured. They came up with ways to analyze metrics like quality of experience, quality of service, resolution and join time to provide publishers with data that could help them improve their performance to get more views. He has seen the creation of Netflix as a streaming service, the rise of Disney as a video powerhouse, and the creation of subscription video on demand (SVOD) and transaction video on demand (TVOD). It's been an interesting journey.Resources mentioned:Keith Zubchevich -https://www.linkedin.com/in/keithzubchevich/Conviva | LinkedIn -https://www.linkedin.com/company/conviva/Conviva | Website -https://www.conviva.com/ Ready to get started with Rebar?Head to https://rebartechnology.com or email info@rebartechnology.com to schedule a call today. #SaaS #Subscriptions #SubscriptionBusiness #SubscriptionService

A couple months ago, we started getting messages from listeners telling us: you gotta watch this video. It's a thirty minute YouTube video from a creator named Brian David Gilbert, and it's probably the best video about health insurance we've ever seen. Brian David Gilbert is best known for his highly-detailed, hilarious videos for Polygon, a media company about video games. But when he left that job to strike out on his own, he needed new health insurance. We talked with him about how that experience turned into one of the most difficult videos he's ever made — and this is a guy whose old job had him tracing things like Zelda storylines across decades-long franchises. You can watch the full video here. Other delightful BDG creations discussed in this episode:The two-minute video that launched his career. His 15-minute dive into the Legend of ZeldaA cooking demo: “Welcome to my weird ice creams.” Yum.Special thanks to Wil Williams, Sarah Ballema, Josh Rubino, and Bea Bosco for adding their voices to this episode!AND: We'd love for you to support this show. Now is a great time to do it. This month, every dollar you donate is DOUBLED, thanks to NewsMatch and the Institute for Nonprofit News. Holy cow, what a deal. Here, go for it. Hosted on Acast.
