If these lies are believed, they can lead to despair and eventually to a falling away. Much of the debate centers are who are intended by this second use of Elohim. We mention three possibilities as to the identity of the second Elohim in 82:1.1. They are human rulers. Human rulers seem to be indicated by the use of the term Elohim in Exodus 21:6; 22:8-9. The judges were to judge based on God's righteousness and holiness and therefore judgment is said to be for God in Deut. 1:17 and II Chron. 19:6-7.Psalm 45:6-7 Though Israel did not view their king as Divine (God) as some nations, he is addressed as Elohim in Psalm 45:6-7. Solomon is said to sit on the LORD's throne in I Chron. 29:23. 2. They are angels or spiritsJob 1:6; 2:1; 38:7 The phrase "sons of God' seem to refer to angels. Deut. 32:8-9 especially the LXX translationDeut. 32:17 compare I Corinthians 10:19-21Daniel 10:13, 20-21; 12:1 shows angels and spirits active in the world though our knowledge of what they do is limited.Ephesians 6:12 Angels and spirits are active in the ongoing struggle between right and wrong, good and evil. Revelation 12:7-9 3. They are other gods- Ps. 95:3; 96:4It may be a polemic against false gods to show them being rebuked by the true God. Even if that is not done here, it is done in passages like Psalm 29. This is an understandable view. Was Israel monotheistic? Did they (and should we) believe in one God?Just look at these verses Deut. 4:35, 39Deut. 32:12, 39II Kings 19:18-19; Isaiah 37:19-20Isaiah 41:21-24Isaiah 42:8Isaiah 43:11-13Isaiah 44:6, 24Isaiah 45:5-7, 20-23Isaiah 46:9Mark 12:29-30, 32Romans 3:29-30Galatians 3:20I Timothy 1:17

I believe that there is NOTHING more that Satan wants to do in our lives that to steal, kill and destroy our ability to living CONFIDENTLY for Christ and to point others to doing the same. And I have come to realize that one PRIMARY way he does that is by keeping us stuck in a vicious cycle of self defeat in our health and how we view and care for our bodies. Today's episode is Part 2 in a four part series, and it's all about the LIES Satan whispers into our hearts about our bodies and what we believe about them! These are just a FEW lies Satan comes at me with. Yours may be different, but let's identify them, take them captive, and replace them with God's Truth! Acts of the Apostles 23:1-11 NLT1 Gazing intently at the high council, Paul began: “Brothers, I have always lived before God with a clear conscience!” 2 Instantly Ananias the high priest commanded those close to Paul to slap him on the mouth. 3 But Paul said to him, “God will slap you, you corrupt hypocrite! What kind of judge are you to break the law yourself by ordering me struck like that?” 4 Those standing near Paul said to him, “Do you dare to insult God's high priest?” 5 “I'm sorry, brothers. I didn't realize he was the high priest,” Paul replied, “for the Scriptures say, ‘You must not speak evil of any of your rulers.'” 6 Paul realized that some members of the high council were Sadducees and some were Pharisees, so he shouted, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, as were my ancestors! And I am on trial because my hope is in the resurrection of the dead!” 7 This divided the council—the Pharisees against the Sadducees— 8 for the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe in all of these. 9 So there was a great uproar. Some of the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees jumped up and began to argue forcefully. “We see nothing wrong with him,” they shouted. “Perhaps a spirit or an angel spoke to him.” 10 As the conflict grew more violent, the commander was afraid they would tear Paul apart. So he ordered his soldiers to go and rescue him by force and take him back to the fortress. 11 That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.” • • •Sermon Points:Jesus is with you.Jesus is for you.Jesus is going to use you. • • •Supporting Texts:Romans 8:28John 18:22-231 Peter 2:23Isaiah 43:1-22 Corinthians 4:7-12 • • •Challenge: Living the Christian life won't always be easy. And God's promise to us is that He will never leave us alone to accomplish His purposes for our lives. Pray and be on the lookout for opportunities to share the gospel with others. Ask God to give you boldness and wisdom as you share Jesus with others.

Originally aired December 21, 2020.In this episode we are going to unwrap the depths of Isaiah 9:6 as a present from God for the first Christmas.Isaiah 9:6: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."We look at each phrase and cross reference to see that it is a prophecy of the Messiah. We also compare it with Isaiah 7:14 to verify that the Messiah would be truly born of a virgin. We put other possible fulfillments to the test such as King Hezekiah, Isaiah's son, or someone unknown from history. We challenge ourselves to remember that the ultimate purpose of Jesus' coming is to be the king over the earth. His suffering and atonement secures his citizenry. We look at the name of the son as "Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." This episode is the fourth teaching session in Dayton Women in the Word's The Shema Group Study Bundle. In this episode, Jillian compares and contrasts how The Shema is translated across the spectrum of versions of the Bible, from word for word to thought for thought translations. She focuses on the word “Shema” as she explores how both Moses and Jesus use this word in Deuteronomy and in the New Testament, paying special attention to what happens within the heart between listening and obeying. These recordings are designed to accompany your study after you spend time in individual study and group discussion. In Episode 90, we talk about the divinity of Jesus Christ and what Christianity is truly all about. In the previous episode, we quoted the famous football coach Vince Lombardi, "Gentlemen, this is a football,” as reference to the concept of always drilling, renewing and reviewing the basics. In today's episode, we say, "Church, Christian, this is a football." These are the non-negotiable fundamentals and basics of what it means to be a Christian, to believe in Christian faith and the word of God.One of the most heated theological debates in early church history is centered on Jesus Christ's Deity. Even today, there are those who deny His divinity. Is it possible that God and Jesus are one and the same? How do they differ from each other?Tune in now and let's go bigger, better, and deeper! I also want to acknowledge the fact that He is also fully human. Jesus is 100% God and 100% human. I think this was communicated through the rest of what I said, but I wanted to say it in conjunction with this statement as well.At 14:42 I say that Jesus' life started off with His supernatural conception and birth. This was NOT to say that His existence began with the virgin birth. The Son of God has always existed. We see this from places like John 1:1. My statement was merely referring to the beginning of his human life on earth.Feel free to email any questions or comments to ijustwanttotalkabout@gmail.com!
Did you ever have that feeling that God had abandoned you when you were facing a difficult trial? Maybe you wandered from your faith and felt like He left you or gave up on you?In this episode, I share a story of when I was around 6-8 years old and wandered away from my mom in a department store; and how this event compares to the parable that Jesus told of the Lost Sheep in Luke 15.Many times we feel that God leaves us or ignores us during hard times or even when we make mistakes and pick up old habits, but that isn't the case. There are many scriptures that tell us that He is always there and never left us.Just as with the lost sheep, Jesus as that Good Shepherd knows where we are even when we feel lost, abandoned and afraid. He never took his eyes off us and was watching out for us.It may not have felt like that when you went through a difficult situation and may not have turned out the way you hoped, but God still is wanting the best for us and cares enough to go get us and bring us back to the fold. Just as a parent, we care for our children and don't want to see them hurt; but we have to at times allow them to face trials and even get hurt. That is when we step in to restore and bring healing and help to them, much like God, our Heavenly Father, does for us.King David referenced many of his Psalms about God as a shepherd, because that was what he could relate to as a child and watching over his fathers flock.Scripture references:Psalms 23:1,4Luke 15: 4-7John 14:16Matthew 18:20Matthew 28:20Matthew 1:23Isaiah 7:14Isaiah 58:9Hebrews 13:5Cover art provided by www.LumoProject.com

The Power of ProclamationPROCLAIM defined1. To promulgate; to announce; to publish; as, to proclaim a fast; to proclaim a feast. Isaiah 61:1-2 (NKJV)To proclaim liberty to the captives, 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; 2. To declare with honor; as, to proclaim the name of the Lord, that is, to declare his perfections. Exodus 33:17-20 (NKJV)19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. DE-CLARE': To make a declaration; which means to proclaim or avow some opinion or resolution in favor or in opposition; to make known explicitly some determination; We already know how to declare things. We need to learn is how to start declaring God's Word. 1 Peter 2:9Psalm 71:18Psalm 89:22 Timothy 4:2 2 Preach (declare, proclaim) the word! Be Proverbs 18:20-21Mark 11:23Isaiah 55:11Romans 10:8-10 (NKJV)8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach [Kerysso]): 9 that if you confess [homologeō] with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession [homologeō] is made unto salvation.Greek word for Proclaim is Kēryssō:to be a herald, to officiate as a heraldto proclaim after the manner of a heraldalways with the suggestion of formality, gravity and an authority which must be listened to and obeyedto publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done used of the public proclamation of the gospel and matters pertaining to it,Confession [homologeō]1. to say the same thing as another, i.e. to agree with, assentto profess, to declare openly, speak out freelyProclamation without faith is empty words, devoid of the life. Proclamation requires both faith in the heart and speaking with the tongue. The purpose of proclamation is to speak the answer not the problem. The answer is what God says about the situation. In “proclamation prayer” we use the authority of Jesus Christ to make pronouncements over a person or group or event or situation, commanding that it will come into alignment with God's perfect will for it. So what do we proclaim? We can proclaim whatever the Word of God proclaims!Philippians 4:13 1 John 4:4 - You can personalize it as you declare it… I am of God, I am a child of God, and have overcome the world because He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. Just be careful to say what the Word is saying!Isaiah 41:10-13Personalized you might proclaim, “I will not fear for God is with me. I will not be dismayed because Jehovah is my God. He will strengthen me, yes He will help me. He will uphold me with His righteous right hand. All of those who are incensed against me shall be ashamed and disgraced; they shall be as noting, and those who strive me shall perish. I shall seek them and not find them – Those who contended with me. Those who ware again me shall be as nothing. As a nonexistent thing. For the Lord my God will hold my right hand, saying to me, “Fear not, I will help you.”So what does proclamation accomplish?· It takes our eyes off of the problem and puts them on the Problem Solver· It reminds us of God's faithfulness· It strengthens our faith as we agree with what God says· It changes head knowledge to heart belief· I personally believe there is power in the spoken word that comes from my mouth when that which comes from my mouth comes from a heart of faith. [The Lord Jesus said, Speak to the mountain and it will move! He did not say pray to God to move the mountain, he said speak to the mountain. Do not doubt in your heart but believe what you say will happen and it will.As elders we believe that proclamation is an important key to overcoming the enemy. That is what Jesus did when tempted by the Devil as recorded in Matthew 4.
