We just had Dominic Acia of GetaDomTune on the podcast a few weeks ago, but he happened to be in the area and when he stopped by the shop, we had to sit down and record another conversation. One of the biggest questions or suggestions that we got after talking to Dom last time was about the Subaru FA20DIT and FA24DTI engines. So that is what we talk about here. Dom only had a limited amount of time so this conversation is somewhat short, but there is a lot of good information in here. If you have any other questions or topics that you would want us to discuss with Dominic, make sure to leave them in the comments below! Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!

Dominic Acia of GetaDomTune has been a constant fixture in the Subaru world for over two decades. For this episode we sat down to talk about how Dom got started working on and tuning Subaru's, and the plan was to talk about what he is doing now with parts like the Cylinder 4 cooling mod, and the new parts he is working on, etc. And we did. It was a great conversation, but we chatted for over 2 hours. So we are going to break this conversation up into two parts. Part one is all about how Dom started playing with, and then working on Subaru's, and how he got involved with tuning them as well. Part 2 will be up next week, and we dive into the Cylinder 4 Cooling Mod, and a lot of other things that Dom is working on now. So enjoy this conversation, and Stay Tuned for part 2 as this is a lot of great information in here. Thanks for watching! You can find Dominic at: https://www.getadomtune.com/

Donna Sorkin is the current Executive Director of the American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACIA), an organization that seeks to eliminate the barriers to implant acceptance. She is an expert and renowned advocate for cochlear implants. She previously served as the Vice President of Consumer Affairs at Cochlear Americas before transitioning into the nonprofit sector. Throughout her career, she's worked as the executive director at other leading organizations for the deaf and those with hearing loss. In this episode… Most medical professionals within the audiology sphere know how important cochlear implants are. More specifically, they see firsthand the stigma and lack of acceptance for the devices. There has been a recent push for more understanding in the cultural consciousness, but many advocates don't have the influence to make the impact they want. One person who does, however, is Donna Sorkin. Donna has served at multiple organizations, including Cochlear Americas, the Hearing Loss Association of America, and now the American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACIA). She now works exclusively in advocacy and has even presented to the United States Congress on cochlear implants. Few people understand the subject like she does, so what does she think are the next steps for cochlear advocacy? In this episode of the ListenUp! Podcast, Dr. Mark Syms has an in-depth conversation with Donna Sorkin, the Executive Director of the American Cochlear Implant Alliance (ACIA), about cochlear implant advocacy. The two go over the current challenges in both legislation and cultural perception of implants. They also talk about the ACIA's work and Donna's own experience with her hearing loss. Stay tuned to hear all of this and much more!

Episode: 0019 Release Date: 3rd of March 2022 Podcast Writer: Paige Keningale Theme Song: Wolf Moon- Unicorn Heads. Voice overs: Dr Susanne Knabe-nicol/ Police Science Dr Podcast Email: podcasts@acia.org.uk Podcast Webpage: https://www.acia.org.uk/Podcasts , https://www.leapodcasts.com/ Other resources: https://www.policesciencedr.com/ Podcast Social Media: Twitter: ACIA_org, LinkedIn: Association of Crime and Intelligence Analysts (UK). Dr Susanne Knabe-nicol has a BSc in Psychology from the University of East London, an MSC in Interactive Multimedia from the University of Westminster and an MSc and PhD in Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool. Susanne has worked in UK policing for over a decade in the roles of regional intelligence analyst major crome researcher, custody investigator, improvement and evaluations officer, improvement and evaluations coordinator, and change and improvement officer. Before then, Susanne was a uniformed police community support officer in London and now currently works as a lecturer in Criminology, Policing and Investigations at Middlesex University in London. The reason why Susanne wanted to make relevant research reach the right people in policing is because there is an awful lot of great research being done and published, but then only read by other academics. This just doesn't make sense to me, and so I started turning research into videos, as every officer can make time to watch a short video, but they might not be able to access and digest a research paper. Susanne set up Police Science Dr to create a broad range of research-based videos and the plan is for a global communication platform for researchers and practitioners as well as a collection of police-relevant courses, all in one place. Susanne happens to have the desire to make research accessible and able to create online courses and interactive videos to help the policing community. Susanne has also published two book chapters: one on geographic profiling and one on behavioural investigative advice, which are both in Professor Laurence Alison's book ‘Professionalising Offender Profiling'.
