Susan and Sharon are thrilled to welcome director, writer and actor Jon Cryer to 80s TV Ladies!Jon Cryer is an Emmy-winning film and television icon, known for starring as “Duckie” in the 1986 John Hughes teen classic Pretty in Pink -- and then going on to star in all twelve seasons of Chuck Lorre's long-running, award-winning sitcom, Two and A Half Men.Along the way, Jon has starred or appeared in dozens of television shows including The Famous Teddy Z, Partners, Dharma & Greg, Family Guy, The Practice, CSI, NCIS, Will & Grace and The Kominsky Method, and such films as No Small Affair, Hiding Out, Hot Shots!, Holy Man, Dudes and Due Date. For three years, Jon Cryer gave an award-winning performance as the legendary evil genius Lex Luthor on CW's Supergirl.Jon authored the 2015 autobiography So That Happened and currently executive produces two hit podcasts: The Man Who Calculated Death and Lawyers, Guns & Money (which he also narrates). In Part 1 of a two-part conversation, Jon reflects on growing up in a show biz family and learning acting the hard way. Plus what it's like playing the romantic lead opposite two of the most famous actresses of our time: Demi Moore and Molly Ringwald…THE CONVERSATIONSusan and Sharon share the crazy story of how they met Jon Cryer and got him on the show!BEING AN ACTOR IS CRAP: First day, first film, Jon is 20 years-old -- and Robert Altman is throwing fake bird shit all over him. That's showbiz!THE FACTS OF LIFE: Jon was a huge fan of the show -- and then got to work with 8TL alum director Assad Kelada on Two and A Half Men!ACTING FOR TOOTIE: Jon just worked with Kim Fields -- she was his director! No Apology Necessary: Demi Moore recently apologized to Jon in her autobiography Inside Out for not being more sensitive when she “took his virginity” while shooting No Small Affair. But it turns out he wasn't a virgin: “I just seemed like one.”On opening day of No Small Affair, Jon snuck into a theater just in time to see himself take off his shirt on screen -- and hear someone yell: “Where's the beef?”When Jon met Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald on the Pretty in Pink set, he thought they didn't like him. Turns out he was only half-right.The original ending of Pretty in Pink has Molly Ringwald's Andie politely shutting down Andrew McCarthy's Blane, and dancing in solidarity with Cryer's Duckie (to Davie Bowie's Heroes) -- but test audiences HATED it! So, the ending was changed making sure that Andie ended up with cute and sensitive, rich-boy, Blane.GETTING MOSHED: While filming Dudes, Penelope Spheeris had Jon and castmate Dan Roebuck thrown into the mosh pit at a Vandals concert -- and they barely lived to tell about it!So, join Susan and Sharon -- and Jon -- as they talk Morgan Freeman, Escape From Alcatraz, Richard Gere, Wonder Woman, Al Pacino, Cher, Annie Potts, Mark Hamill, The Bad News Bears -- and getting naked for laughs on Two And A Half Men!AUDIO-OGRAPHYListen to Suzanne Rico's podcast The Man Who Calculated Death (produced by Jon Cryer and Lisa Joyner) at TheManWhoCalculatedDeath.comAnd Jon's other podcast, Lawyers, Gun & Money at Apple. Keeping your credit score in good standing is a great way to dramatically reduce the amount of interest you pay on a mortgage and other loans. But.. how? How do we get our credit score up to a number we can be proud of? Well, today, you're going to find out. Links: Check out TCU University for financial education tips and resources! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! Learn more about Triangle Credit Union Transcript: Welcome to Money Tip Tuesday from the Making Money Personal podcast. Do you ever look at someone who has done something remarkable? Something that may take you forever to complete? Guess what? They didn't do that amazing thing overnight. It may have taken them months or, more likely, years before you saw the result. Overnight success is not something that happens often. Building a solid credit score and profile is a long-term investment in your financial future, much like the remarkable achievements you admire in others. It will take time, effort, and, most importantly, responsibility to get a credit score that will get you the lowest interest rates and terms on loans should you ever need them. Responsibility is the key to unlocking the potential of your credit score and securing a better financial future. In this tip, I am going to share with you five ways to help improve your credit score: Never miss a due date. Paying your bills on time is the golden rule for maintaining a good credit score. Your payment history will show whether or not you have paid your bills on time, and this is a significant factor that plays into your credit score. Missing a due date can lead to late fees, increased interest rates, and a negative impact on your credit score. Enroll in auto-pay to ensure your payments are automatically deducted from your checking account, guaranteeing they will not be late. When doing this, just remember to ensure there are sufficient funds in your checking account so you don't get charged overdraft fees. Keep Your Balances Low. If you have a credit card or another form of a Line of Credit, be sure to use only a portion of the available credit that has been extended to you. A general rule of thumb is to use no more than 30% of your credit line. So, for example, if you have a credit card with a $1,000 line of credit, a good rule is not to use more than $300.00 of that limit. This is referred to as your credit utilization, and it is another factor that influences your credit score. If you need to stop, stop, but don't close. The older we get, the more mature and trustworthy we should become throughout our lives. The same goes for credit. If you have four credit cards and the first one you have is 4 years old, and the rest are 1 or 2 years old, Let's say you close the first one you got because there are no benefits associated with using it; you will reduce the avg age of your credit profile. The longer the average age, the better because it shows you have experience managing debt, and it gives lenders a more extended history to examine when considering a loan for you. Don't Apply for Everything Thrown Your Way As you develop credit, you will be thrown offers left and right from lenders saying you are pre-approved or pre-qualify for their products. When you apply, your credit score will be affected, and the inquiry will remain on your credit report for 12-24 months. So, only apply for lines of credit or loans that you truly need and can use responsibly. Try to space out the times you apply by at least one year. But it's even better if you wait longer. Be Well Rounded To be particularly attractive to lenders, it is beneficial to have experience with various types of credit. For instance, having a mix of credit cards, student loans, and a mortgage can demonstrate your ability to manage different types of debt responsibly. It's okay to have a variety of debts, and can actually help boost your score a bit. And there you have it.. 5 ways to improve your credit score. To recap, the five ways are: Never Miss a Due Date Keep Your Balances Low Don't Close Your Credit Cards Don't apply for everything thrown your way Be Well Rounded. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Nicole.Nicole and I actually had our interview in September and her episode got lost with some others and so here it is, a wee bit delayed but when you wait for something good you never wait to long ;) Isn't that right?Nicole is a mama of one from St. Petersburg Florida, originally from Rhode Island. She is an avid animal and nature lover - passionate about dog training, hiking, watching sunrises and generally spending time outside. Nicole is also a major foodie and lover of coffee shops. She is currently on maternity leave and enjoying every moment of this special time. She went into labor on her estimated due date which only 4-5% of women do, and gave birth at home in her bedroom with two highly trusted midwives, her doula, and her partner. Her partner caught the baby and it was the most beautiful and empowering experience of Nicole's life. She started out with a hospital based care team but switched to home birth with midwives at the start of her 3rd trimester. Sharing again how it is never to late to change your care provider! Her intuition guided her to her midwives and listening to this podcast was so inspiring + helped her grow her confidence in her decision. Yesterday marked the deadline for parties within the government of national unity to resolve their impasse over clauses 4 and 5 of the BELA Act. These clauses concern the authority to determine school language policies and the procedures governing school admissions. The South African Democratic Teachers' Union - SADTU - believes President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to postpone the implementation of the two contentious sections of the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act - BELA Act - was purely for political expediency, based solely on the objections of the Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube and her political party, the DA. In a rare show of defiance, the union, an affiliate of the ANC, this week also informed Ramaphosa in a letter that it will legally challenge his decision if he does give the green light for the implementation of the two sections, and also embark on a strike. Jon Gericke spoke to SADTU Media Officer, Nomusa Cembi and analyst, Sandile Swana

Your due date is just an estimate! Many factors affect when your baby will arrive, including genetics. Most first-time moms give birth between 40-42 weeks. Mentally prepare yourself for a longer pregnancy to avoid pressure for induction at 40 weeks. How To Have an Empty Calendar Scott's Daily Boost Show Notes — A letter I received about 10 minutes ago… “When you showed us your calendar a few weeks ago, I noticed how bear it was. You hadn't time blocked your podcast recordings, checking emails, calling friends, date night, learning time, developing course materials, Marketing activities, etc. I assumed you should time block every area of your life to ensure you achieve balance.” I believe work-life balance is a myth. Isn't every minute of the day the same? There are no work, play, happy or sad minutes—there are only minutes. I don't need to balance them because they are all the same. Since I have a pre-determined way that I want to live my life, it doesn't matter when I do it. Having said that… Having a calendar that it booked every 10 minutes is one of the most stressful things I can think of having. I would bet it's the biggest reason people get burned out or retire. In my view, a calendar's only job is to serve as a reminder system for any of those minutes that will involve other people — and not even all of those. I don't know about you, but I don't need a reminder to go on a date night with my wife. I know some people say you should schedule time for yourself on your calendar to ensure you get things done. But it seems to me I shouldn't have to schedule my own time — since is MY time. I should have a clear understanding of the life I want to live, what I need to do, and the discipline to get it done—in the space between those pesky appointments. Let me be clear. I absolutely have days of the week and hours of the day that I broadly dedicate to things like work, play, learning, and relaxing. Within those large blocks, I look at my task list and decide, based on Due Date and Priority, what I need to focus on that day. When that's done, I'm done. Larger projects are no different. I simply look ahead to the days and hours I have available, set the Due Date for those times, and when that day arrives, get it done. Is that time-blocking? No. There's no need to block my time because it's already mine. All of my time is my time. I guard it, ensure I know what I need to do, and have the discipline to do it as quickly as possible. I strictly control the time that others are taking. If I don't, I won't have more time. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In today's lily episode, I invite you all to consider how a baby's due date can represent the day that Jesus Christ comes again. Just as we do not know the day nor hour of His return, we do not know the exact day nor hour our baby will come, but there are ways we can prepare for both of these joyous days with excitement rather than fear. As I approach my baby's due date, I hope that during this episode all mamas can relate to past and future due dates of their own babies and the connection these special days have to the day that the Savior comes again.

When Carolyn was pregnant with her first baby, she went past her "due date." After declining an induction at 41+6, her doctor questioned her integrity as a mother, stating, "I am surprised your motherly instinct (to protect your baby) hasn't kicked in yet." Knowing that she and her baby were ok, she continued to wait despite heavy pressure from her OB. When she passed the 42-week mark, feeling out of options and having been told she was going to have a ten-pound baby, Carolyn accepted an induction on her 31st birthday. Her baby was born vaginally, weighing seven pounds and five ounces. Looking back at her conception date, her baby was more likely closer to just forty weeks. Carolyn's entertaining story highlights the inexcusable emotional abuse of her OB while demonstrating Carolyn's remarkable trust and faith in her baby and her body. Hello and is it too late to still say Happy New Year?! Cynthia & Trisha are back with the first Q&A of 2024 in season five of the Down to Birth Show! We kick it off today by sharing some of your highs and lows from the holiday season. Next, we get into our questions beginning with a mother who had low milk supply with her first baby and wonders what she can do in pregnancy and birth to prevent it from happening again; one curious listener wants to know if she can check her own cervix to help determine at what point she should go to the hospital; another caller asks us to explain why due dates are based on your last menstrual period rather than your ovulation date--what happens to those two weeks? In our extended version, available on Apple subscriptions and Patreon, we first answer a question about normal, healthy sleep patterns for infants and the pressure mothers face to have the baby "sleep through the night." Then we answer if and when "cervical massage" is indicated for a cervix that might be scarred from a previous cervical procedure. Another mom is concerned that her midwives missed a case of early jaundice in her newborn and inquires if getting the RhoGAM shot in pregnancy could have prevented the jaundice. Waiting is a major part of the experience of becoming a mother, yet we rarely talk about it or give it the attention it deserves. From the two-week wait while trying to conceive, to the waiting for your chance of becoming pregnant after months and months of trying, to the waiting for a new treatment or change to impact your fertility, to the waiting for your baby to grow in the 9-10 months of pregnancy, to the challenging wait for baby to arrive as you pass your due date...becoming a mother can involve a lot of....waiting. Dr. Morgan and I break this down and share our own experiences of being in the current throws of waiting...her, waiting for her baby to come as she is now past her due date, and me, waiting to conceive via IVF, a process that has been pushed back almost 8 months due to various factors. I share the wisdom I have learned from years and years of waiting along our fertility journey, and we share some golden nuggets you don't want to miss. Let's dive right in! In another dazzling display of competence and accuracy, the IRS recently sent out thousands of payment due notices with the wrong due date. Because of a number of natural disasters in California, people in some California counties have been granted an extension from April 18 to October 16 on when their 2022 taxes are due. Imagine their shock and surprise when the IRS sends them a notice that basically says “pay up now”.As we have noted numerous times on FAIRtax Power Radio, this is far from the first time that the IRS has fouled something up, and it won't be the last. It's past time that we put the IRS out of business by replacing the income tax with the FAIRtax.
