The Design Business Show 150: 5 Things I've Learned in the Design World Since Starting My Podcast

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been a guest on the podcast and to everyone who listens or reads the show notes. I am shocked that we have 150 episodes. I started this podcast because I felt like I didn't have a voice as a designer and wanted to share other's stories and experiences, no matter their expertise. And we do just that! But I wouldn't be here without you, so thank you.    For this episode I decided to bring in my close friend, Jordan Gill to chat with me about 5 things I've learned in the design world since starting my podcast.  Here's what we covered on the episode: 1. You Bring Something to the Table That No One Else Does  How Jordan and I met through working on a launch for an affiliate program together, ran in the same online space and ended up bonding over a not so good client experience  Jordan's take on me as a designer and what I bring to the table that is different from other designers  Lesson number 1 that I've learned and want to share about the design world is that you are different and bring something to the table that someone else doesn't bring The key to your identity is understanding who you are, what you want out of a job or business and understanding that you are different  How I've never thought of myself as good when it comes to branding but that's not true, and how I am good when it comes to branding digital offers — you might have a skill that you don't consider your best, but that doesn't mean you're bad at it  I touch on the branding work I'm doing for the podcast and how I think it's important to try different things before solidifying your brand  The story of my client, Edie, who came to me wanting to do VIP Days and how I told her to go test it out first instead of building a whole brand around it because she might decide she didn't like it or it didn't work for her  2. Connecting with others in Your Industry Will Help You Go Far Thing number 2 I've learned about the design world is to always be connecting with others because you don't know where a connection could  At the beginning of each episode, I share how I connected with each of my guests to reiterate how important building relationships are in your industry, especially with people who have complimentary skills to your own   My favorite story to tell is how I got my first sales page project by investing in online courses and connecting on Facebook with someone I didn't even know who posted about needing a graphic designer  How reaching out and raising my hand helped me get my first sales page project, and led me to getting referrals to all the all-stars in the online space back in 2013/2014  We discuss how people underutilize the relationships they have because they don't want to bother people or seem like they're needing too much, when in reality you should utilize the relationships you've built When you start connecting with people, you have to go in knowing that it could lead to a great relationship, or it could lead to sales —  don't go into it with expectations of it going a certain way, because it might not 3. You ARE Good Enough The third thing I've learned in the design world is that most of us, especially in the beginning or when we're going through a transition, think that we're not good enough which is not true at all  We think we aren't good enough because somewhere along the way we were told to look at everyone from the competition and there wasn't/isn't enough Design Industry 101 training that teaches you about the different rules, the different projects, how marketing goes with design, etc.  I share that I recorded my first episode for the podcast in April 2019 but didn't post it until October 2019 because I was scared and didn't think I was good enough  If you don't think you're good enough, go out and get projects  4. Your Work Creates a Bigger Impact Than You Think it Does   The fourth thing I've learned in the design world is that you don't realize how big of an impact your work actually has when your head is down and you're doing the work I share one example of how I got to see the impact of my work after creating a sales page for Kimra Luna which helped increased her sales, connected me with another client and how I heard from multiple people at events that they bought Kimra's program because of my sales page design  How you should update your portfolio with 3 or 4 projects you can tell stories about and include projects that feature the kind of work you want to get  I want to take my conversion design skills to the beauty and skin care industry, so if you live it that world, send me a DM   It's Okay to Love What You Do and Get Super Rich Doing It (And Don't Give Up!) The fifth thing I've learned and want you all to know is that it's okay to love what you do, and get super rich doing it and that you should never give up   You are talented and the talent you have in the world matters, no matter what your experience is and if you don't have the experience you want, go get it We recap my 5 main points during this episode which were to truly understand yourself and not be afraid to test things, always be connecting with those in your life and industry, know that you are good enough, realize that the work you do has an impact and know that it's okay to love what you do and get rich doing it   Even if you are in a season of life that is difficult or changing, just keep going —  working a little bit each day is better than giving up on the impact that you could be giving people  It's important to acknowledge that I haven't been feeling like myself for a while so I can remember to be patient with myself instead of feeling sorry for myself — it's okay not to feel okay sometimes  I talk about how I've kept the podcast going this long and through my recent life events because I want to practice what I preach and I understand that sharing the message and stories of other creators is important and has a bigger impact  If you have any questions, comments or feedback, I love DMs on Instagram so send me a message — share this episode on your story and tag me or Jordan's Instagram so we know you listened to this episode or read the show notes   Links mentioned: The Design Business Show - Episode 61    The Design Business Show - Episode 131   Connect with me on Instagram    Connect with Jordan on Instagram  Like what you heard?  Click here to subscribe + leave a review on iTunes. In today's episode we got to speak to Expert Movement Specialist, Injury Prevention Coach and Osteopath Dr Jordan Moncrieff, who is a great friend of TriVelo and someone that we put ultimate trust in with our own bodies as our movement coach. As a young, highly talented footballer, chronic injury limited Jordan's capacity to train and compete at the highest level. It also gave him the biggest gift – a powerful reason to explore effective movement & training. Jordan helps his clients identify their movement, posture, breathing, and/or stability gaps, and together help them fill those gaps with a combined approach, using both Osteopathy and Exercise Rehabilitation for the most effective & long-term results.   Dr Moncrieff has worked with professional athletes across multiple sports to help them achieve peak performance. Athletes including AFL footballers Dylan Shiel, Dan Hannebery and brownlow medalist Tom Mitchel. And more specifically to us, helping cyclists and triathletes, especially with the most common problem, back pain.  Keys to the episode: How Jordan spent years with groin pain unable to fix his injury The “left of field” method that was finally the solution (the same method that had helped AFL legends Chris Judd and Luke Hodge) Exactly what is this “unconventional” method? How is it different from a traditional strength and conditioning program? Why squeezing or tightening your core is actually worse for you How you can use this method to improve your efficiency in all movements (swimming, cycling, and running) Why having more “abs” could actually be worse for your performance The unexpected benefits of this approach for your long term health Why we need to model infants for effective strength and conditioning programming And a whole lot more wisdom. Hope is the last thing you lose, they say. When we depend on a miracle or expect something implausible to happen, we shake with fear and make bold promises to the gods if they have mercy on us. We pray for a second chance. Most of the time, we do it for banal things, like sports or passing on a test. But there are other times when much more is at stake, like walking again, for example, or getting our health back. And those calls are rarely attended; that is why they are more associated with miracles. After imploring, begging, and promising the earth and the moon, how many of us would keep their word and make every second of their existence worthy if they got a second chance. Jordan Sky is one of them, and she excelled at keeping her word. Joining me today is Jordan Sky; she is a model and influencer. Jordan is a member of Somnium Lifestyle and was recently crowned as Miss Valenti 2021. Jordan's parents exposed her to art and different cultures at a young age, traveling quite often and living abroad, which made her curious and fascinated about the Renaissance, Romanticism, poets, sculptors, and paints. She had an accident that kept her paralyzed for several days, which changed her perspective on life. After getting her second chance, she embraced life, and that feeling of gratitude has been her fuel since then.In this episode, we talked about Jordan's journey into the modeling world. She kindly shared her experience as a gamer and influencer, and how after cosplaying Kitana and Lara Croft at Comic-Con, her following exploded. We talked about her preference for villains over superheroes and how that preference matches the image she wants to portray in her content. We also talked about overcoming adversity and the lessons she learned from her life-changing experience. Some Questions I Ask:You have a distinctive look, and it's unique. What’s your perspective representing beauty and fashion as a woman of color? Is it a conscious effort for you? (5:33)What was going on in your life before you got into video gaming and modeling. Who were you beforehand? (8:41)How do you balance all of this, your image? It sounds like it's somewhat of a burden to be perfect all the time. (14:47)What are some of your talents that nobody would know? (21:14)Do you have a vision for something beyond this? Or do you think this is it for you, you're going to do this until you decide not to? (28:54)In This Episode, You Will Learn:How Jordan describes herself (6:24)How she got interested in the gaming world (9:38)People are not interested in reality nowadays (13:05)All of us have superpowers (19:01)How Jordan incorporates her love for reading into her work (21:47)Jordan's early exposure to art and how that shaped her mind (31:07)Connect with Jordan:InstagramRealsky ClubLet's connect!WebsiteInstagram

Often referred to as “The Larry King of podcasting,” Jordan has spoken to a score of high-profile guests on the show including Kobe Bryant, Moby, Dennis Rodman, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Tony Hawk, Cesar Millan, Simon Sinek, Eric Schmidt, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, among others.   In addition to hosting The Jordan Harbinger Show, Jordan is a consultant for law enforcement, military, and security companies and is a member of the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.   Listen in as Jordan discusses his journey from frustrated Wall Street corporate lawyer to entrepreneur and award-winning podcaster.   He also does a deep dive into business partnerships and how to know whether it’s time to fly solo. On the other hand, Jordan shares when forging a new partnership might be the best next step.   Jordan then speaks on how the schooling system promotes mediocrity by default and what it means for the natural-born entrepreneur.   Finally, Jordan touches on how entrepreneurs can become better leaders and managers of a growing business.   Key Highlights [04:00] An introduction to Jordan Harbinger [13:55] Knowing when it’s time to part ways with a business partner [21:47] What a healthy business partnership looks like [26:11] How Jordan got kidnapped—twice [29:31] Securing high-caliber guests and upping your game as a podcaster in general [33:30] The problem with the school system and individual achievement [37:09] The link between entrepreneurship and ADD/ADHD [43:11] Discovering what you’re built to do [45:31] The best style of management for entrepreneurs [49:20] How The Jordan Harbinger Show gives back Powerful Quotes by Jordan When you’re in business, your business married that person who’s your partner. If one of them spends a shitload of money wastefully, that’s your money and you can’t do shit about it unless you have an intervention. If one of them is like, “My parents were never successful so I’m going to self-sabotage all the time and make sure we’re never successful,” that shit is in your house. The Jordan Harbinger show would be less varied and interesting if there hadn’t been other really good podcasters that have done similar-ish shows. I would just keep doing things the same way. Competition makes you better. [The school system would rather educate than inspire kids] because you don’t need to do that if you’re trying to churn out a consistent product. [...] They’re trying to churn out a consistent product so that they don’t lose funding. Schools are playing defense. The fact that you didn’t pay attention in school doesn’t mean you have ADD. It just means that you can’t sit there with everybody else who is literally average, by definition, and memorize stuff. [...] Many people who think they have ADD probably don’t. They were just cooped up in a bullshit environment for a really long time and that’s not how they learn. No job is like school. Zero jobs involve sitting there, being academic, and memorizing things while a teacher lectures. Zero jobs do this. Listening to lectures is one of the worst ways I can think of to deliver information to young people with active minds.

His current show rakes in over 11 million listeners per month and was featured as part of Apple’s “Best of 2018” awards. Not coincidental to that success is the fact that Jordan is an incredibly talented networker. We do a deep dive into his “Connect Four” method of networking and how networking has changed in a world without live events. We would also be remiss to not discuss how to grow such a successful podcast, how to monetize it, and the future of the industry.   Question Highlights:   How did you get kidnapped twice? How did you get into podcasting? What is it that you’re doing that makes your show so successful? How do you think Clubhouse will affect podcasting? How are people supposed to network without in-person events?     Guest Bio: Jordan Harbinger is a Wall Street lawyer turned podcast interviewer with an approachable style and knack for securing high-profile guests. His show, The Jordan Harbinger Show was selected as part of Apple’s “Best of 2018.” Hailing from Michigan, Jordan was an inquisitive kid who was fascinated by the internet at an early age. He went to law school at the University of Michigan and landed a job on Wall Street as a corporate lawyer. Jordan wasn’t interested in climbing the corporate ladder. But he was curious about a partner who was never in the office. Dave spent his days at charity events and playing racquetball. How did he keep his job? Dave told Jordan that he brought in business for the firm. To do that he didn’t sit at his desk: he spent his time building and managing personal relationships. After hard work and intelligence, Jordan felt like he was learning a “secret third path” that nobody ever talked about. This kicked off an obsession with body language and non-verbal communication, persuasion, influence, social psychology, and networking. When he started uploading what he learned to the web, he inadvertently became one of the first podcasters. Today, The Jordan Harbinger Show has over 11 million downloads per month and features a wide array of guests like Kobe Bryant, Moby, Dennis Rodman, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Tony Hawk, Cesar Millan, Simon Sinek, Eric Schmidt, and Neil deGrasse Tyson, to name a few. Jordan continues to teach his skills, for free, at 6 Minute Networking. She currently lives in Dallas, TX with her cavapoo Vivienne and collection of 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzles. Here's what we covered on the episode: How Jordan was on episode 61 of the podcast and how we met 5 years ago on a launch that wasn't the best experience for us, bonded over the situation, and became friends In 2016 Jordan went full-time into entrepreneurship and ended up getting connected with some business owners where she was doing monthly retainers, which is the only business model she knew from a service perspective Jordan talks about how she had 4 clients at the time and says that about 5 months in, 3 out of the 4 clients were launching and shares that it was very stressful, which is how she figured out monthly retainers were not the way she shows up best When Jordan started looking into other ways of doing business, she hired a sales coach who was doing 3 hour VIP Days in her business, so Jordan asked if she could do that in her business but with systems How Jordan decided she wanted to charge $3000 for her intensives but had some struggles, thinking no one would pay that because she's too young but says she benefited from being young and naive because she did it anyways The majority of Jordan's business revenue came from VIP Days and weekends, and how that really allowed her to experience entrepreneurial freedom, which is why she teaches this business model now Sign up for Jordan's Done in a Day Virtual Conference to figure out how VIP Days would work in your business Jordan shares the 3 types of VIP Day structures, backstage, blended and book-end and also shares that she has a quiz you can take to know which structure would be best for you The backstage structure is when you aren't really getting on a call with your clients at all, they just reserve your day, examples of this are website design or copywriting — it's more of a service type VIP Day How Jordan does the blended structure, where she's on a call the entire time and is building the process at the same time, while the client watches her so they can become more familiar with the tool along the way When you think of a bookshelf you can sometimes have one book-end or two on either side of the shelf, and in the book-end structure, wherever you place the book-ends, those are your actual calls with your clients Jordan tells us about the most unique VIP Day she's been approached with and how the woman wrote songs to help heal people of trauma, so Jordan went to a friend who was excited about the idea and ended up getting the woman a referral partner Jordan talks about how we're both similar in the way that our best energy comes from when people invite us into a space to speak, because of this Jordan doesn't go live on Instagram much, instead she builds relationships with people and the invitations for her to come speak just happen from there How Jordan knew she was going to do a rebrand and told her content manager that she wanted to only hire VIP Days which was interesting because VIP Days are a newer concept so it got a little tricky when finding people she wanted to work with in the VIP Day format The story of how Jordan hired a branding agency in Dallas, TX had them come into her home so they could truly get a feel for her and then when she got her results back, they created a pineapple illustration that looked like SpongeBob SquarePants house for her logo, which made her feel so misunderstood When Jordan did her rebrand she hired a brand strategist who actually helped style her for her photoshoot too, she also hired a copywriter to go over all of the copy she had written, a photographer who really understood her, and a website designer— all were VIP Days Jordan says it was such a relief to do this rebrand and shares one of her favorite areas is the directory on her website, where she gets to showcase clients who have gone through their program so you can go hire them for their VIP Days The decision to move from Kajabi to Showit Jordan says was because of Kajabi's limitations on how you can organize the back end of your website, so she decided to switch when they were rebranding How Jordan's team was very involved in the switch because it's their mission too, it's not just the Jordan show — her ops coordinator moved all the courses, her graphic designer helped with the logo, patterns, prints and icons for the website, and her content manager had a lot of input on the social elements they needed Jordan explains that if you work in the rebrand space it's okay for your clients to not necessarily be overly jazzed about the branding process and just because they have doubts and fears doesn't mean you aren't doing your job well, it just means they are out of their comfort zone and you have to reassure them Sign up for the Done in a Day Virtual Conference, it's on March 8th and 9th, 2021 and you will get live virtual events in a fun, active and supportive environment Links mentioned: Systems Saved Me The Design Business Show - Have you ever considered taking a completely different kind of farming journey? Adam Cohen and Jordan Jent join us today from Texas Fungus, hailing from Fort Worth and supplying all of Northern Texas. Jordan started Texas Fungus in the Fall of 2016 and now grows the most premium mushrooms in the area and beyond. The original farm began in a one-car garage and has since relocated to Arlington, TX in a 2,000 sq.ft. facility after Jordan partnered with Adam in January 2019. The farm has been expanding and thriving ever since. Join us to learn all about how they cultivate the best damn mushrooms in Texas!   You’ll hear: How Jordan and Adam got started working with mushrooms 1:06 What makes growing mushrooms different from other crops 10:06 What a typical day at Texas Fungus looks like 11:45 How much time Jordan and Adam spend on the farm 16:41 How they prioritize important tasks 18:00 The most difficult thing they’ve encountered after starting their business 22:04 How Jordan and Adam advise learning about mushroom production to newcomers 29:38 How roles are divided on Texas Fungus 36:29 Which of their products sell best in Fort Worth and surrounding areas 50:26 What the whole growing process looks like 56:01 The biggest mistakes Adam and Jordan see newer farmers making 1.03:25 Their favorite farming tool 1.11:20 How Jordan and Adam feel about the prospect of starting a new farm today 1.15:53 Where you can learn more about Adam, Jordan, and Texas Fungus 1.19:36 What they’re currently doing with their grow kits 1.20:53   About the Guests:Adam Cohen is a former school teacher (Math, Science, Agriculture), who spent much of the last 15 years working with hydroponics and aquaponics. Struggling to find a way to balance the time needed to be an effective teacher with the needs of running a successful farm, Adam kept looking for ways to be more efficient and to do more with less. A chance meeting in late 2018 introduced him to Jordan Jent and the two partnered up to build Texas Fungus, a small artisan mushroom farm in the heart of the DFW Metroplex. Jent, a former Chef with a self-professed "black-thumb" had been growing mushrooms for a short time and was looking to find a way to bring a new connection to the DFW food-scene that had not existed in the area prior. Since January of 2019, Adam and Jordan have overcome a number of challenges and growing pains as they work to bring the #bestdamnmushrooms to DFW. In the fall of 2017, Jordan Jent received a mushroom kit as a gift that didn't fruit out. About that same time, he was also looking for a way out of the 9 to 5 corporate rat race. As a former chef, he still found himself looking for ways to be connected to the local DFW food scene. After the failed kit, Jordan stumbled upon mushroom growing and went down the rabbit hole. One year later in 2018, Jordan decided to go all-in and leave the simplicity of a 40-hour work week and good benefits for a life of mushroom farming, providing the #bestdamnmushroomsindfw to local chefs. After partnering up with Adam Cohen in the beginning of 2019, they expanded from 5 restaurants and 50lbs per week to 30+ restaurants and 250lbs per week by the end of 2019.Resources:Website - www.texasfungus.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/texasfungus/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/texas_fungus/

Hello gorgeous souls! I have a very important episode for you all today. On the Manifestation Babe Podcast, I have the beautiful Jordan Bone, a motivational speaker, author, and life coach. She is a very special SOUL here on this planet. Jordan is such a light and INSPIRATION. She has gone on quite a journey of SELF-LOVE! Jordan shares with us how she learned to love herself and body again, as well as how she manifested her dream life in the process.  Jordan also raises awareness about disabilities for people who are privileged to be able-bodied, and just don't understand. This is a POWERFUL episode and I know you babes are going to absolutely love it!   After a car accident in 2005 at 15 years old, Jordan was left paralyzed from the chest down which changed her reality completely! After the universe guided her into the spiritual community, she began to create positivity videos of her own, which led to makeup videos that eventually led to a viral video called My Beautiful Struggle. This video paved the way for Jordan to write an autobiography of the same title. Jordan’s life came full circle when she attended Tony Robbins’ Date with Destiny. It helped her understand her life’s purpose! She then stepped into her role as a life coach and motivational speaker with the mission to help people have the most fulfilled life possible despite any struggle.   This episode is all about GRATITUDE and SELF-LOVE! We know the importance of networking, but many of us either shy away from it or take the wrong approach. Today's guest, Jordan Harbinger, does things differently, and it shows. As a Top 50 iTunes podcast host for over 12 years, Jordan deconstructs the playbooks of the most successful people on the planet, sharing their strategies and providing practical insights. In this episode, we hear about Jordan’s podcasting journey, and how building his show from scratch for a second time showed him the true power of his network and connections. We discuss the difficulties that came with starting over, including self-doubt and being unable to compensate the team fairly, and their resolutions. Jordan also shares some of his invaluable relationship development insights. Rather than calling it networking, which he feels has been tainted by sleazy salesman, Jordan’s approach is more authentic, and it recognizes the importance of making small deposits every day. Instead of ignoring most people and only reaching out to those who are can immediately do something for you, Jordan knows that opportunities are just ‘over the horizon’, which means front of as many people’s minds as possible. We get some actionable steps as well as a teaser of his free networking course. Along with this, we also discuss current podcast numbers, why he is spending so much on his show at the moment and some of the obstacles with podcasting ads. It was an honor to get to speak with Jordan as he has played a big role in shaping my thoughts on health and fitness as of late; he even managed to shift my mindset a bit during this episode, so look forward to that! In this episode, host Celeste Rains-Turk sits down with IFBB Pro Jordan Wondergem, who won her pro card at her first national show and is now going into her fifth year of competing. She is a coach for bikini and lifestyle clients and directs an abundance of focus towards mindset.  Jordan coached herself until her prep leading into the North Americans National show where she earned her Pro-card. She learned what and what not to do and gained experience while coaching herself but wanted to take her physique to the next level. By hiring a coach, Jordan was able to dig deep and learn how to push to the pro level.  Mindset is something Jordan is very passionate about. She believes that having the right mindset is everything when it comes to achieving your goals and that it will set you apart from the rest. Affirmations are a huge part of her daily routine. Another passion she has is being able to fit competing into her lifestyle. Jordan explains how she can enjoy social aspects of situations while following her prep to a T even if she needs to be a busier person to do so.  This lifestyle has been one Jordan had followed even before her time competing. Celeste and Jordan talk about how having that base of the lifestyle makes for an easier transition into competing rather than just jumping in. Having goals with a deadline and seeing herself progress is what drives her most and has her whole life.  Now that shows have been cancelled, Jordan is focusing on the positives of postponing prep. She was devastated when she learned that the Vancouver Pro show had been cancelled but has realized this could actually work out for the best. With her new relationship having a time limit on time spent together she can now focus on having fun and having a more enjoyable prep when her new boyfriend goes off to boot camp. She also speaks on how she has handled client’s shows being cancelled so gracefully.  Jordan goes into what her peak week looks like as well as what post show looks like for her. It is a new and different approach from what she had ever practiced while coaching herself and she is excited that she can pass these strategies onto her own clients.  Celeste brings the show to an end by asking Jordan about some favorites regarding prep food and training and of course advice for women thinking about competing and those looking to go pro themselves.  Jordan’s passions shine through in this episode and inspire a better mindset!  CONNECT WITH JORDAN HERE:  https://www.instagram.com/jordan.dee.ifbbpro/ https://linktr.ee/Jordanwondergem CONNECT WITH CELESTE HERE:  instagram.com/celestial_fit WWW.CELESTIAL.FIT EPISODE TIME STAMPS  1:30 Pre-show rituals 3:11 Hype songs that get you through prep  5:19 Jordan talks about being self coached until national show prep and then having a coach for national prep  7:59 Monitoring progress while self coaching 9:14 Having self doubt while coaching yourself 10:23 Receiving feedback from a coach  11:18 Methods Jordan developed from coaching herself. Do you demand results from yourself and your team? On its own, this uncommon desire to succeed is a very positive trait. But coupled with a no-bullshit communication style, you may be perceived as a bully. So, how can high-performing executives with this Warrior Spirit learn to communicate in a way that inspires action yet also fosters compassion and respect? Jordan Goldrich is a Master Corporate Executive Coach on a mission to help executives perceived as bullies drive results—without damaging relationships. In this week's episode of the Follower of One Podcast, we go back in time to a live interview on Facebook with Jordan Price. Jordan is the owner of Media Works, located in Broken Arrow, OK. He is an entrepreneur, Christ-follower, and content quality road-paver. Listen to the live show on this episode's weekly interview!   Episode Breakdown: 1:05 - Meet Jordan Price 2:05 - How Jordan got to owning Media Works 7:20 - Jordan's mission ground 12:45 - Creativity and Quality 23:10 - How to get in touch with Jordan   Passion and God Every single one of us has a passion for something. Usually, that passion is different from our neighbors or our colleagues but the one thing in common we all have is passion. In Jordan's story about his passions in this world, we learn that not every first passion is meant for us long term. Not every first goal we set is accomplished but God should be at the root of that passion, right? So, how are we able to change lanes without losing sight of what is most important? Well, we listen to God throughout the process.   Good Question Some good questions to ask yourself are: Is this really what God is calling me to do at this moment? I love doing what I am passionate about but has God paved a different path for me? What if I am falling out of love with my passion? God, could you give me some clarity on my next path? Once you start asking these questions, it might be easier to see just what God has in store for you!   The Obstacle As Christians in the workplace, we are all met with one consistent obstacle, our workplaces, (it might even be school or the home for some of you). We need to treat every place that we are spending our time in as a mission ground for God. Follower of One is about practically integrating faith in our everyday lives no matter where we are. Does your workplace feel like a mission ground? Does your school feel like a mission ground? It should! God simply says to go make Disciples, and so we shall. Seek it out in everyone and every place surrounding you!   Shining Example God is the creator of all things. In that creation, He purposefully made creativity as well. In the interview, Jordan speaks on how we, as creations of God, should be the shining light, the creativity, and the quality in the world. We are created in His image and therefore need to put the same passion and quality in our work that we would for Him. Are you being a shining example today? Do you preach the gospel and, if necessary, use words? How you act, feel, address, and unveil are all important aspects to integrating faith into your everyday life!   Connect with Jordan: Media Works Jordan Price’s LinkedIn Media Works Facebook Media Works Twitter Media Works Instagram   Connect With Follower Of One Join us over in our Online Community, get social with us; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn and subscribe to our YouTube channel. Having had his songs been on 35 Million CDs and recorded 16 of his own Albums, our guest today, Marc Jordan is a true music legend and inspiration to all aspiring artists in the singing and songwriting niche.  Married to Fellow musician and actress Amy Sky, Jordan's Music Career shot for the sky when he signed for Warner Music in LA and began writing songs for and alongside some of the greats, including Diana Ross, Chicago, Kenny Loggins, Brette Milder, and Rod Stewart.  Jordan has already been the recipient of several music awards including the ASCAP, JUNO and Smooth awards. Despite having already accomplished so much in the industry, the drive and passion that Jordan has for music and songwriting, according to him, is deeper and more profound than it's ever been. He's just released his latest album “Both Sides” in April of 2019, and alongside his wife Amy, the two are currently working on releasing another album set for 2020.  Show Notes  I had the pleasure of hosting Marc Jordan on the dHarmic Evolution today, stay tuned in the show as we discuss the life and career of Jordan, alongside some of his top hits including, the #1 smash world wide “Rhythm of My Heart” sung by Rod Stewart.  As he ventured into the music industry, Jordan noticed that the careers of so many people were catching fire with his songs. Warner Chappell noticed and approached and signed Jordan to a publishing deal after noticing how talented he was with his writing, and from then on Jordan would just write as if he would be the one to perform the songs. Later on, the songs would be pitched to other artists who would add their tune and style.  Jordan gives us a look into his personal life and career life. Get to find out the joys and challenges of working in the music industry from Jordan's memories and experiences. We explore issues related to his touring, songwriting, performing and changes that have been ushered in by technology in the music industry.  Quotes  It's hard to do cover songs because people are always comparing them to the original. So you've got to make it your own without destroying people's memories (04:57)  So I just wrote as if I was going to record everything myself. That was the only way I could make the songs true. And the people that recorded the songs brought themselves to the show. (16:40)  When I realized that the concerts weren't about me, that they were about the people sitting in the audience, is when I stopped began to enjoy concerts more, because I got so much in return. (40:22)   Music is so important. It's our first language and it's the language of our hearts and it's the language of a revolution as well. It's important politically and it's important emotionally. And we must never lose sight of that. And we must never compromise our artists because to do that there would be no art in the world. And if there was no art in this world, especially in music, then what is this world? In the first impeachment hearings, we examine congressman Jim Jordan's methods of persuasion and influence, along with a press conference clip featuring President Trump's framing of the whole process. We begin with a softball question asked by right-leaning OAN's reporter who gives Donald Trump an easy platform to monologue the day away, and then take a listen to Jim Jordan as he procedes to persuade. We break down several of Jordan's devices of framing. Take a listen to this episode to learn: How Jordan uses a classic car sales technique to convert a reluctant witness over to his side!
