Welcome to another fun episode of All Pop No Culture! Our biggest topic of the week is, of course, Star Trek Picard (Paramount+,) both the season/series finale and the third season as a whole. While Jen is on this week, that topic will be the sole property of Kevin and Andrew. But don't fret! Jen will get a lot of time this week. Kevin kicks off the show by talking about the new Peacock release, Mrs Davis, starring Betty Gilpin of Nurse Jackie and GLOW fame. It's a quick review as the show has just launched, but it sounds like a fun one. The gang then jumps into Cocaine Bear (Peacock) and YellowJackets before Jen takes the reins with talk of Mafia Mama starring Toni Collette. After that, Andrew takes over with a quick trip in the wayback machine to talk about The New Mutants and The Legend of Vox Machine. Next up, the group closes out their previous discussion on Beef (Netflix) and their final thoughts on how that show ended up and what should come next, if anything. Kevin and Jen then take the lead with a discussion about The Last Thing He Told Me (Apple TV+) starring the wonderful Jennifer Garner. Het genoemde table-top-spel is Call of Cthulhu. Het genoemde café is Armory Bar. Jasmin vond de thriller Pokerface van de Amerikaanse streamer Peacock grappig, bijvoorbeeld vanwege de fascistische hond en de fantastische hoofdrol van Natasha Lyonne. Lou zag de finales van The Mandalorian (Disney+) en Picard (Prime). Beiden zijn aanraders, maar wel met kanttekeningen. Linda keek Paddington 2 en ja, Pedro Pascal heeft gelijk in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent: dat is echt een zeer kijkwaardige film. Beef (Netflix) is aardig maar kun je overslaan als je weinig tijd hebt. Tot slot tipt ze Kelly (Prime), de documentaire over Kelly van der Veer, de eerste openlijke trans vrouw op de Nederlandse televisie. Thom speelde Cyberpunk 2077, een game die erg gehypte is. Ondanks technische problemen is hij echt heel goed. Hij las ook de racistische HP Lovecraft. Vooruitblik Jasmin heeft zin in de nieuwe Legend of Zelda omdat dit de eerste echte actiegame was die ze speelde. Lou kijkt uit naar de nieuwe Strange New Worlds. Ze heeft Dead Stranding bijna uit. Linda kijkt graag verder naar The Power (Prime) omdat ze het boek heel goed vond. Ze verheugt zich ook op het maken van de bonusaflevering over de Super Mario Bros Movie te maken met Thom. Thom heeft zin om in de wereld van Oxenfree 2 gestort te worden, een verrassend emotioneel, rauw verhaal.

Michael and Dave watched the first and last episodes of the critically acclaimed (rightfully so) Netflix show BEEF. Michael hates George. Dave hates George's mom. They both like to stress eat like Danny. But that's not the only thing they agree on--they both love this show, despite it reminding them how depressing the world is. And the reason is youuuuuuu. Beef is incredibly engaging, really taps into some uncomfortable but I would argue universal truths about life, and is anchored by career performances from Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, and a murderer's row of stellar character actors in supporting roles. It is very hard to stop watching this show once you start. A perfect example of the best we can get from streaming, this is a peak TV positive outcome, a universally relatable show that is very binge-able. Big win for Netflix. Czy może my mamy teraz tyle przemocy w życiu i tyle krwi leje się w każdym filmie, że duchy i diabeł już nas nie przerażają? - zastanawia się Bartosz Węglarczyk w najnowszym odcinku podcastu "O serialach" - Kiedy pierwszy raz w życiu pojechałem do Waszyngtonu na Georgetown University, szedłem z kolegą po bardzo długich schodach. Powiedziałem mu wtedy, że wyglądają one, jak z filmu "Egzorcysta". Jak się okazało, to rzeczywiście były te schody. Później, przez dwa tygodnie, bałem się po nich zejść. To jest wyznacznik tego, że film jest naprawdę straszny - dodaje redaktor naczelny Onetu. - Teraz, jak gdziekolwiek wpiszesz słowa duch i diabeł, to wyskoczy ci milion filmów i wiesz, że one są fejkami. What makes the show arguably a Korean American drama are the church scenes and an exploration of K-rage exhibited by characters like Danny, Issac (David Choe) and Edwin (Justin H. Min).
