Una biografía coral' de Julia Balckburn (Libros del Kultrum) escuchamos a 'Lady Day' en grabaciones de finales de los años 30 principios de los 40 ('All of me', 'Until the real thing comes along', 'Me, myself an I', 'You go to my head', 'Night and day), de su disco de 1957 'Songs for distingué lovers' ('I didn´t know what time it was', 'Day in, day out') y del disco de 1959 'Lady in satin' ('For heaven´s sake', 'You don´t know what love is', 'You´ve changed', 'I´m a fool to want you'). Escuchar audio

STANDARS SEMANAL.-917.The Very Thought Of You.-VINILOS MITICOS DEL JAZZ.-.Ben Webster - (1953) - King Of The Tenors.-JAZZACTUALIDAD.-.Latino Blanco Quintet - Mark Nightingale-BOREALIS Título: King of the tenors Músico: Webster, Ben Acompañantes: Benny Carter Fecha de Grabación: 1953 Lugar de Grabación: New York Sello Discográfico: Verve Nº de temas: 8 Formato: LP Instrumento: Saxofón tenor Estilo: Swing Nº de Serie: 837431 Año de Edición: 1994 Duración: 39:58 Calificación: 5* /2 Comentario: Un disco majestuoso que recoge todas las virtudes de este magnifico saxofonista. You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To”.

Welcome back to the 3RIPLE 3HREAT podcast where it's good news and good vibes all the time, baby! In this episode of the 3RIPLE 3HREAT podcast, Jermel interview Ben Webster, the Deputy Director of Emergency Management for Charleston County Government. They discuss the importance of leadership, and different resources the community has access to following natural disaster moments like hurricanes, tropical storms, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc, and man-made disasters and acts of violence. We appreciate Ben coming on and giving us the information we need to be effective following a natural disaster. Please tune in to this episode to learn more! About Ben Webster: Ben's passion for public service and public safety began very early when he joined the Boy Scouts of America in Virginia's New River Valley. Servant leadership, honesty, integrity, and helping others became engrained in his daily life. So much so, that after completing his Eagle Scout and several other national level awards, he went to join the Blacksburg Rescue Squad as an Emergency Medical Technician. At Blacksburg, Ben solidified that his career would be in public safety and emergency services. Among many other positions, he served as a Field Supervisor, Heavy Rescue Technician, Public Safety Diver, Swiftwater Rescue Technician, and finally leaving as Captain of the Water Rescue Team.  Ben's desire to serve went further, after graduating from Radford University he became a Police Officer with the City of Charleston Police Department. Following this, he accepted a position as a Regional Emergency Manager for the South Carolina Emergency Management Division. During this time he was instrumental in assisting both very large and resourceful counties and smaller rural counties in developing quality emergency management programs. He also served on the Unified Command Group of the Federal Governments' COVID19 Vaccination Response at the Columbia Place Mall. In addition to this, Ben responded to multiple tornados and other emergencies throughout the state. He earned many certifications, but most notably FEMA's Advanced Public Information Officer.  In May 2022 he was selected to serve in his current role as Deputy Director. This position meshed perfectly with his experience in Emergency Management, Emergency Services, and desire to serve and educate the community. Ben prides himself on his forward-thinking style, and desire to always look for a responsible and reasonable solution to any problem.  Ben and his wife Emma reside in Charleston County with their two rescue dogs, Moose and Marina. They are both professional SCUBA Divers, Ben a Master SCUBA Diver Trainer and Emma a Divemaster. They are all around outdoor enthusiasts and spend many weekends exploring the outdoors throughout the region. I am so grateful to Dr. Dan Piccolo(dear old friend and percussionist) for recommending this book and to Ross Huff(dear old friend and trumpet player) for joining us on the read. Two big ideas stuck with me from this book. One is that creating music is dependent on the tension between understanding the basics of a deep tradition AND constantly improvising to create something new. Two is the intimacy in Dyer's stories about many of America's most lauded musicians. We see Thelonius Monk, Lester Young, Charles Mingus, Ben Webster, and more not as icons but in their completely messy painful humanity, often suffering at the hands of the country that celebrates their music, dealing with real mental health issues and loss. Dan and Ross were the perfect guests and you should take my advice and go check out their music. www.danpiccolo.com www.rosshuff.com
