Ben Casavant, Co-Founder and CEO of Tasso, focuses on making diagnostics more accessible to patients that allow collection of blood samples at home. Their customers include pharmaceutical companies conducting research and healthcare providers. Using Tasso's technology in decentralized clinical trials allows for easier recruitment, increased patient participation, and more data collection. The simplicity and ease of use of Tasso's blood collection device have resulted in positive patient responses and improved retention rates in clinical trials. They offer liquid and dried blood collection options to accommodate different lab processes and sample types. Ben explains, "When we think about the customer bases we're serving, we're working with many different pharmaceutical companies conducting critical and life-changing research. We just announced a partnership with the Parkinson's Foundation so they can help find ways to gather information and data about patients living with Parkinson's disease. But they need that access and data from patients. By working with Tasso, we enable them to have that reach and accessibility." "When we're working with various pharmaceutical companies. They're seeing this real need to get subjects into their trials, to ease recruitment, to help make sure they're hitting their recruitment targets. To help make sure that as a patient goes through a clinical trial, they're able to meet all the data points that are needed so that they can have a completed data set for their own submission. And broadly, in that industry, we're seeing this huge shift. It's really exciting that pharma companies, sponsors, and CROs are looking for more tools to provide patients with better access and lower the barrier, lowering the bar for people to participate in these trials." #Tassoinc #DecentalizedClinicalTrials #DCT #ClinicalTrials #HealthTechnology #HealthTech tassoinc.com Download the transcript here

In 2022, I asked Chef Bernard Casavant to be the Chef leader of the World's Largest Family Meal at COOKSCAMP 2022. I have known about Chef Casavant for a long time as one of the OG. A Chef who led a team that turned Canadian food upside down while he was opening and running the Chateau Whistler. His reputation as one the best Chef Mentors around came from so many of the other respected Chefs I talked with. When I talked with Chef Casavant about COOKSCAMP and about what we were trying to accomplish, he was all in, 100%. He has become one of our great ambassadors of the event and is now on the steering committee to help bring it to fruition again this year. Those two days at COOKSCAMP in 2022, I saw exactly why he is one of the most respected Chefs in North America. His dedication to the craft, the cooking, the mentoring, going out of his way to make everyone feel included and valued is exactly what COOKSCAMP is all about. I am was so happy to finally be able to sit down and chat with Chef and see where it all started and how his hard work got him to where he is today. I hope you enjoy our chat.

In this solo episode I explore the concept of maternal instinct which fell back onto my radar in recent weeks following a viral video featuring Maggie Dent and Kate Richie. I discuss my own thoughts on this topic, recent research on the neurobiology of the mother and father brain, patriarchal implications; and emphasise the importance of understanding parenting to be a skill that transcends one's sex or gender and is not dictated by biology alone. **Additional Reading at the bottom of these show notesHere is where you can find out more about me (Yara), how to work with me and some resources:Why Am I So Angry Workshop*** Waitlist for The Rebirth, Group Coaching for Mamas *** This is my signature 3 months online group coaching container for mothers which covers family of origin, inner child work, nervous system basics, anger, boundaries and much more. @lifeafterbirthpsychology www.lifeafterbirth.com.auFree Inner Critic WorkbookFree Values Aligned Living Workbook If you'd like to read up on some of the literature I used to inform this episode, please see the titles below and there are many more available on google scholar: Abraham, E., Hendler, T., Shapira-Lichter, I., Kanat-Maymon, Y., Zagoory-Sharon, O., & Feldman, R. The four-day work week is not a new concept, but in the last year we have seen more and more companies who are “making it work.” Additionally, we are seeing states introduce legislation that incentivizes companies to switch to four-day work week, providing state tax credits to both public and private employers who make the switch. At the federal level, in 2023, we have seen the proposal of a bill entitled the “Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act” which seeks to incentivize shorter workweeks by requiring overtime pay for time worked in excess of 32 hours per week. In this episode of HR Power Hour, join co-host Tawny Alvarez in a dialogue with Biddeford Maine Mayor Alan Casavant concerning how the city of Biddeford, Maine, as a public employer, moved to a four-day work week and the tips he has for other organizations considering the same.

For our 1st Home Base Staff Pick, Our very own Team Leader of Veteran Outreach Marine Veteran Ryan Casavant gives some love to fellow Marine Veteran and … Dancehall and Reggae artist Orville Burrell, AKA Shaggy. Ryan talks about his road to the Marines, his deployment experience, and what he does at Home Base to support his peers and families. And as we look at those making history, this month in Black History Month, you cannot find any other GRAMMY-winning Marines out there… Shaggy has released 'Com Fly Wid Mi which has 11 Frank Sinatra songs all done in his own Reggae style, produced by collaborator Sting. Cheers to these two Marines who have served and continue to serve in many ways. Some news:-As we know, it's been 1 year as of Feb 24th since the War in Ukraine. It is hard to believe, and not only do we think of those Ukrainian troops when it comes to their needs body-mind and soul, we think of the trauma that the civilians have been enduring. There are many people around MGB who have been helping since the get-go like BWH Navy Veteran Dr. Eric Goralnick and MGH's Dr. Jarone Lee and many others - and now there seems to be even more need when it comes to mental health, not surprisingly. -In more celebratory news, Home Base was very happy to officially announce on Feb 22nd Last week, a first of its kind major federal funding of $5 million as we welcomed a visit from Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Representatives Stephen Lynch (MA-08) and Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) to our national center of excellence. These funds will help support Home Base's signature clinical programs serving families of the fallen - and active-duty special operations forces experiencing ongoing issues from traumatic brain injury – TBI.Senator Warren who is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, spoke some familiar words, not unlike what our friend and colleague Green Beret Jillian Kitching said that always resonates with me…About the simple equation, that their service = our service to help them to take care of them, when they return.Warren said, “I think of it this way - A lot of what we do is about military weapons and all the technology. But The other half is about the people.”- “If we are going to have a strong military, then we have to treat our people better.”Thank you Shaggy, and Ryan for your service, and your ongoing service to your fellow comrades and families. Special thanks to Tracy Bufferd for all your efforts and support in connecting Home Base with Dancehall, Reggae and all the genuine support of service from Shaggy and team. And… If you want more Shaggy at Home Base, check out the LIVE conversation at the Veterans Day Dinner we released February 2020. __If you are your loved one is experiencing any emotional, mental health struggles, you are not alone and please contact Home Base at (617) 724-5202, or visit www.homebase.org.Theme music for Home Base Nation: "Rolling the tree" by The Butler FrogsFollow Home Base on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedInThe Home Base Nation Team is Steve Monaco, Army Veteran Kelly Field, Phebe Garver, Justin Scheinert, Chuck Clough, with COO Michael Allard, Brigadier General Jack Hammond, and Peter Smyth.Producer and Host: Dr. Ron HirschbergAssistant Producer, Editor and corresponded (Home Base Staff Picks): Chuck CloughChairman, Home Base Media Lab: Peter SmythTo Donate to Home Base where every dollar goes to the care of veterans and military families that is cost to them, go to: www.homebase.org/donate.Home Base Nation is the official podcast of Home Base Program for Veterans and Military Families, a partnership of the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Red Sox Foundation. Post-lockdown life has brought extreme changes to the way we work, play, and socialize. For many entrepreneurs, COVID was an opportunity to break out from the corporate structure to make a long-awaited business idea a reality. For entrepreneur Mike Casavant, his new startup challenge isn't success, but sustainability. This week I'm sitting down with Mike to discuss the challenges of keeping a business moving forward after two years of success and making plans for a long-term legacy. If you're hitting the “post-pandemic burnout” of entrepreneurial life, listen to what Mike and I have to say about decision fatigue, being intentional with your time, and finding the right partners to make your dream a (sustainable) reality. Mike Casavant is an American entrepreneur, record producer, and musician. He is the founder of Purrple Alien, a premier cannabis edibles company, and The Mad Jekyll, a men's streetwear brand.Casavant's creative endeavors began at a young age. He recorded and toured the world as a musician from the age of 22-27. In 2011, he founded Iron Force Athletics, a strength and conditioning business that grew to become a high-level online coaching program for Crossfit Athletes. In 2020 he launched Purrple Alien and 2021 The Mad Jekyll, two startups that embody his entrepreneurial spirit and outlandish creative vision. Defender Radio: The Podcast for Wildlife Advocates and Animal Lovers
Nearly five years ago to the day, then-Conservation Officer Bryce Casavant famously refused an order to unnecessarily kill two healthy bear cubs; he was suspended, effectively fired and eventually left government service entirely. But just a few weeks ago, justices in BC’s appellant court ruled that the province did not play by their own rules, meaning Bryce has been, in a word, vindicated. Today, Bryce shared the story of how doing the right thing left him in a legal battle with the province that lasted over four and a half years. Additionally, Bryce recently successfully defended his doctoral thesis – which happens to look, in part, at the history of the Conservation Officer Service and how they went from game wardens to an armed law enforcement agency. In this in-depth conversation, Bryce and I discuss the background and decision of his court case, the need to have hard conversations about less visible law enforcement agencies, legislative hide and seek, mission creep, and how it feels to be vindicated.
