Seann William Scott is famous for being one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. Rising to fame in 1999/2000, hot on the heels of his gross-out teen comedy hits American Pie and Road Trip, Scott was on an enviable hot streak for a while. While attempts to break him out in different kinds of roles didn't pay off at first (the late Ivan Reitman's Evolution and Bulletproof Monk were flops), his comedies remained highly successful, with hits that included Dude, Where's My Car, The Dukes of Hazard and Role Models. Not one to rely on typecasting, Scott attempted to break the mould a few times, starring in Richard Kelly's Southland Tales, the thriller Bloodline and more. While none of those films were ultimately successful, one thing that was always well received was Scott's acting. In 2011, Scott had one of the best roles of his career as hockey enforcer Doug Glatt in the underrated Canadian hockey classic Goon. While only a cult hit, it spawned an even better sequel, Jay Baruchel's Goon: Last of the Enforcers, which, like its predecessor, was only a cult hit in the U.S but a significant success in Canada. Scott also took on a short-lived part on Fox's Lethal Weapon, replacing Clayne Crawford as Damon Wayans' co-star, but that show's tortured production history didn't pave the way for a long run. While Scott arguably isn't quite a household name at this point, he remains a much-loved figure in Hollywood and still has a devoted fan base, such as the ones who suggested we profile him here. With a new show, Welcome to Flatch, on the air - Scott is one of those guys like Bryan Cranston who may go unappreciated for years but could blow up bigger than ever with the right role. Join us as we take a look back at his career in this episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity?

Robert Machoian is an independent American filmmaker who continues to stun with a body of work that is emotionally shocking, and at times, darkly comedic. His previous film, The Killing of Two Lovers, stands as one of the towering achievements of modern American indie filmmaking, and it's with that strength and the fortitude of low budget filmmaking that he turns the story of a man trying to do the right thing for his family into a darkly comedic tragedy with The Integrity of Joseph Chambers. Robert collaborates once more with Clayne Crawford, with Clayne playing the titular character. Joseph is a skewed version of David from The Killing of Two Lovers: dedicated to his family and their safety, yet unlike David, he is filled with a pride and misguided machismo that he believes will be enough to support his family in the event that there is some kind of massive event where food or supplies are no longer widely available. Yet, while on the surface this may seem to narratively be a COVID-adjacent film, The Integrity of Joseph Chambers instead explores the meaning of masculinity in America, and just like Two Lovers, it shows a nation on the precipice of violence. Here, the violence is not delivered with purpose, instead it's a mishap, a soul-breaking act of accidental mayhem. Integrity sits on the shoulders of Clayne, but it's buoyed by two performances that bookmark the film: at its opening is Jordana Brewster as Joseph's with Tess, where she is given a wealth of character development to work with in a short period of time compared to that famous series she's part of; and then at its close, Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays a police chief, with Jeffrey delivering a stoic and empathetic performance that closes the film in a devastating manner. In the midst of this is a performance from Michael Raymond-James which is best described as one delivered with a resignation that hints at the desolate future that America faces as it continues to struggle with an epidemic of violence. To be clear, The Integrity of Joseph Chambers is not a film that explores in depth America's relationship with guns or violence, but rather seeks to recontextualise and examine what the 'modern American man' actually is, and just how is someone who realistically should not own a gun, let alone shoot one, supposed to manage in a society that almost dictates the need to have one. It's this discussion point that Robert talks about the most in this interview, recorded ahead of The Integrity of Joseph Chambers launch at Perth's Revelation Film Festival. Integrity screens on July 14 and 15, and tickets are available via RevelationFilmFest.org. Make sure to listen to the previous discussion with Robert, where he talked about being influenced by Kelly Reichardt, on TheCurb.com.au. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In 2020 actor Clayne Crawford starred in the exceptional film, The Killing of Two Lovers. Written and directed by Robert Machoian, the film is a gripping drama about a fractured family and a husband desperate to bring them back together. Now, Crawford is once again working with writer-director Robert Machoian, and the film is another exploration of a family man in a desperate situation. The film is called The Integrity of Joseph Chambers and it follows a typical family man named Joseph Chambers as he worries for the future of his family. This worry leads him to teach himself how to hunt for animals for food, something he's never done before. From there, something happens that will change Joseph and his family forever. Clayne Crawford talking about the inspiration behind The Integrity of Joseph Chambers on Friday's edition of Wake Up Tri-Counties. Not sure if this one will get a director’s cut, but whatever the case, Army of the Dead is the latest film from Zack Snyder, harkening back to his undead roots in a subversive “zombie heist” action film starring Dave Bautista and now streaming on Netflix. We also discuss Riders of Justice, an action, revenge dramedy (seriously) from acclaimed Danish screenwriter and director Anders Thomas Jensen, which stars Mads Mikkelsen. And we finish out the show with a gushing review of Neon’s latest indie drama, The Killing of Two Lovers, which is from first-time director Robert Machoian and stars Clayne Crawford. It's almost vacation time in The Basement, with Jason and Shawn taking a much-deserved break. But not before they unleash one more podcast... From The Basement! And the Dynamic Duo have a good one in store for listeners, with even more of our interview with true-crime author Wayne Clingman, and a trio of reviews for your ear holes. Wayne Clingman has made a name for himself in the indie publishing world tackling mafia lore in the Milwaukee and Chicago area. What got him interested in this subject, has it ever put his life at risk, and just how much does he know about mob and drug cartel activities? Stick with us! Stick with us you shall, as Jason takes on the acclaimed family drama (you read that right) The Killing of Two Lovers starring Clayne Crawford of TV's Lethal Weapon and Rectify. He also places Angelina Jolie's thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead on the chopping block. Meanwhile, Shawn does battle with the first two seasons of Netflix's Love Death + Robots. Yup. Both seasons! You get an interview. You get a few reviews. What better way to wrap up your holiday weekend. Not a question; a statement! So push play on the player below, and enjoy! From The Basement returns to the mighty Radio NL on Friday, June 11, with an all-new episode.
This week on the Film at Lincoln Center podcast we’re featuring a conversation from the 49th New Directors/New Films with The Killing of Two Lovers director Robert Machoian and star Clayne Crawford. After a startling opening image of extreme tension, first-time solo director Robert Machoian’s stark, slow-burn drama never quite goes where you expect. An evocative and atmospheric transmission from wintry Utah, The Killing of Two Lovers is a compact, economical portrait of a husband and father and a compassionate depiction of a family in crisis, which moves at the ominous pace of a thriller. The Killing of Two Lovers is now playing in select theaters.
The animated short film #SaveRalph is part of a global campaign to ban animal testing for cosmetics. The director of this animated short, Spencer Susser and the film's animator, Andy Gent, are the guests in this first segment. Then filmmaker Robert Machoian and actor Clayne Crawford discuss their dramatic film "The Killing of Two Lovers" which is currently out.
Making its premiere at Sundance over a year ago, "The Killing Of Two Lovers" is one of those independent discoveries that makes you excited to see what everyone involved will be doing next. That's because so many elements are well-thought-out and pronounced within the film to tell a story that feels familiar but is being presented in ways unlike we've previously seen before. Part of that is the richly layered performance from Clayne Crawford as the film's protagonist David and the unnerving sound work by Sound Re-Recording Mixer and Sound Designer Peter Albrechtsen. Both of them were kind enough to take some time to tell us about their roles in the making of this excellent film which is now in theaters and on VOD. Take a listen down below. We hope you enjoy it and that you seek this one out. Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... The weekend is over, but there's still lots of great things to watch at home and in theatres. Which can only mean one thing; it's time for the latest podcast... From The Basement! That statement is correct in many ways, as Jason and Shawn have a boat load of reviews for your ear holes PLUS theatres are opening up, with several high-profile films on the silver screen. First up: what to watch at home! Ever the comic-book guy, Shawn takes on Jupiter's Legacy, the new Netflix series based on Mark Miller's not-so-funny-pages comic. Meanwhile, Jason invites himself to the new slasher romp Initiation. Then The Dynamic Duo join forces for the UFO-themed documentary Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers. How do all these rate? Stick with us! And stay tuned, as the Basement Boys aren't done yet. There's still reviews of Amanda Seyfried in Things Heard and Seen, a spooky new Netflix original movie. While on the streaming platform, the boys also checked out the docu-series Sons of Sam. And there's the latest Bruce Willis VOD offering Breach. But wait, there's more! Like what, you ask? Like the entertainment rundown, including big-screen releases Spiral: From the Book of Saw with Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, Those Who Wish Me Dead starring Angelina Jolie, and Clayne Crawford's relationship thriller The Killing of Two Lovers. How do you catch all this awesomeness? By pushing play on the handy player below, that's how.
After a startling opening image of extreme tension, first-time solo director Robert Machoian's stark, slow-burn drama never quite goes where you expect. An evocative and atmospheric transmission from wintry Utah, THE KILLING OF TWO LOVERS is a compact, economical portrait of a husband and father trying to keep it together while seething with rage during a trial separation from his wife. An interior drama set mostly outside, on the vast, lonely street where David (a knockout Clayne Crawford) stays with his ailing father just a few doors up from his wife Niki (Sepideh Moafi) and their four kids, Machoian's film compassionately depicts a family in crisis, while moving at the ominous pace of a thriller. A complex, brooding soundscape from Peter Albrechtsen that seems to emanate directly from the head of its disturbed protagonist, and a claustrophobic aspect ratio contribute to the powerful emotional register of this impressive new work of American independent cinema. Director and writer Robert Machoian joins us for a conversation on the layered storylines, pulling together a superb cast and the importance of calibrating the appropriate atmospherics, such as sound and cinematography, to create a compelling film that punches way above it's weight class. This week we are joined by Clayne Crawford to discuss the the 2020 Sundance hit, The Killing of Two Lovers, which sees its official release in select theaters and on VOD this Friday, May 14th. We also talk about our overdue rental choice for this week, 2010's The Perfect Host, which Clayne stars in with David Hyde Pierce. The Perfect Host is definitely an indie feature that needs to be seen by more people, make sure you check it out.
