Does Narcissism Come and Go? What "Good Periods" With a Narcissist Really Mean This week's Fan Mail question comes from a listener in Dubai who writes: "Can narcissism in a person wax and wane? There's been years when my husband was acting like a narcissist, and then there's also been chunks of years where he's been incredibly supportive and uplifting. Can a narcissist change depending on their current situation?" In this episode, Dr. Kerry explains why narcissistic behavior can absolutely shift between good and bad periods and what those changes really means.Submit Your Question If you'd like your question addressed on air, send it here:

In this episode, we're joined by Ana Reisdorf, MS, RD, registered dietitian and host of the GLP1 Hub Podcast, to explore how nutrition support fits into GLP-1 treatment in the real world. We talk through Ana's lived experience with weight, the difference between dietitians and nutritionists, and why many patients are left without practical guidance once a prescription is written. The conversation focuses on the growing gap between physician time constraints and patient needs, and how dietitians who understand and support GLP-1s are uniquely positioned to bridge it. We break down macros in accessible terms, discuss nutritional balance beyond protein, and examine how resting metabolic rate, sleep, appetite regulation, and tracking all influence daily intake, especially for those with a history of food or body trauma. This episode highlights why GLP-1-informed dietitians may play a central role in the future of sustainable, patient-centered obesity care.Professional/Community  Guest:Ana Reisdorf MS, RDGLP1 Hub Podcast Links GLP1Hub PodcastApple  PodcastSpotify YouTube WebsiteInstagram ______________________________________________________________________#Mounjaro #MounjaroJourney #Ozempic #Semaglutide #tirzepatide  #GLP1 #Obesity #zepbound #wegovy #ObesityCare #PatientAdvocate #GLP1Community #RealGLP1StoriesSend us Fan Mail! He makes the case that abundance without curation doesn't democratize culture so much as drown it, leaving readers unsure what's worth their time—or why craft should matter at all. Plus, an analysis of Jack Smith's combative testimony before Congress and how "perjury traps" function when politics, not truth, is the goal. "My coworker is a narcissist—and so is our boss. What happens when two narcissists have to work together?" This week's Fan Mail question comes from a YouTube listener who writes: "Thank you for all your content! Very helpful. I am curious to know - what tends to happen when 'a narcissist meets a narcissist' - meaning they are introduced to each other, are coworkers or need to cooperate with each other in some way or even end up being partners? Are there any patterns to or are there typical characteristics/outcomes to this dynamic? Might they not be aware that they are both narcissists?" In this episode, Dr. Kerry breaks down what really happens when two highly narcissistic people enter each other's orbit—whether they fast-bond over shared grandiosity, descend into brutal competition for dominance, or manage an ice-cold alliance for mutual benefit. She explains the collusion-to-competition pipeline, why narcissistic couples can look magnetic but feel exhausting, and why most narcissists will never see themselves the way they see each other. Why do loving parents sometimes push away the very children they'd do anything for? This week, Catherine Hickem joins Dr. Kerry to unpack one of the most painful dynamics in modern families—parental estrangement. We explore how unspoken expectations create invisible walls, why parents mistake control for connection, and how grief work (yes, grief work) is the secret to letting your adult children become who they actually are, not who you needed them to be. PODCAST EXTRA EXCLUSIVE SEGMENT Find the exclusive second segment and weekly newsletter here: https://substack.com/@breakingfreenarcabuseMORE ABOUT THE PODCAST EXTRA INTERVIEW

Hi Listeners. I'd love to hear from you. Send an email to Janet@jesteinkamp. It is not possible to respond to your Fan Mail posts directly. When someone is living with any degree of estrangement, it can feel as though everything they once believed to be true about the relationship has shifted, including their faith. In this episode, Dr. Janet Steinkamp explores how estrangement from an adult child can unsettle long-held beliefs and erode spiritual confidence.Practices that once offered comfort, such as prayer, meditation, or worship, may feel hollow or met with painful silence. A person may feel grounded one day and shaken the next, sometimes drawing strength from faith while simultaneously questioning it. Whether someone feels deeply faithful, uncertain, spiritual but not religious, or somewhere in between, this conversation makes room for the full range of experience. This episode is not about what someone should believe. Instead, Dr. Steinkamp examines how belief itself is shaped by loss, longing, grief, and unanswered questions. She discusses how strength can emerge even during seasons of doubt and invites listeners to consider faith not as a solution or a way to fix estrangement, but as a companion—something that can help them hold what remains, endure another day, and stay open to hope, even when the pain and absence are still very real.#FamilyEstrangement #EstrangedAdultChildren #EstrangementAndFaith #EstrangementGrief #ParentsOfEstrangedAdults #ReconnectingWithMyChild #FamilyEstrangementPodcastSupport the showFor more information, please visit https://www.WhenOurAdultChildrenWalkAway.com The stories, examples, reflections, and perspectives shared in this podcast are based on my professional work as an estrangement coach and my personal estrangement journey. We discussed the challenges of exercising as one ages or in the presence of chronic illness, the importance of keeping a positive mindset, the advantage of writing down goals, and the value of exercise as an injury prevention strategy.  Dr. Guadagnino stressed the importance of staying active. He emphasized the importance of warming up before exercise and observed that even stretching counts as exercise. Balance exercises can help prevent falls and injuries and are especially important as people age. Even small daily activities like walking or swimming are beneficial and can improve well-being.  Dr. Guadagnino added that supplements may be helpful but are merely a “supplement” to regular physical activity and nutritious meals. To learn more, please check out Dr. Guadagnino's new book, “Fitness Over 50, 60, 70, and Beyond.” You can find more information or contact him at his website: https://drguadbook.comPlease click "Fanmail" and share your feedback! If you enjoy an episode, please share with friends and colleagues. "My partner has traits of both covert and overt narcissism—is that possible?" This week's Fan Mail question comes from a podcast listener who writes: "Can a person be both a covert and an overt narcissist? I'm hearing the descriptions of each and my partner has traits of both." In this episode, Dr. Kerry breaks down the confusing language around narcissistic types—what "covert" and "overt" actually mean (hint: they describe symptoms, not people), why your partner can absolutely show both presentations, and most importantly, why the type matters far less than the pattern of harm you're experiencing. Submit Your Question If you'd like your question addressed on air, send it here:

In this episode, Denise is joined by Dr. Miki Zilnicki for a thoughtful conversation about what parents can do when they're told to “wait and see” — and how families can stay engaged, informed, and empowered during that waiting period.Together, they explore why waiting is sometimes recommended, what it does and doesn't mean, and how parents can advocate for their child's visual development without feeling adversarial or overwhelmed. The discussion also touches on the importance of seeking additional opinions, understanding differences in professional perspectives, and recognizing when it's appropriate to ask deeper questions.Denise also introduces an emerging idea she's developing — using music and movement as a supportive, complementary way to help families stay connected to their child's visual development. While not a replacement for clinical care, this approach reflects Denise's background in music education and her belief that gentle, rhythmic movement can help parents remain engaged and aware while they're navigating next steps. This episode is especially relevant for parents who feel stuck in uncertainty, unsure whether to wait, act, or seek additional guidance.Topics CoveredWhat doctors usually mean when they tell parents to “wait”Why children are sometimes considered “too young” for certain interventionsHow parents can stay actively involved during a waiting periodThe role of patient and parent advocacy in vision careWhen and how to seek additional professional opinionsNavigating conflicting advice without losing confidenceWhy awareness and connection matter — even before therapy beginsIntroducing music and movement as a supportive, non-clinical tool for familiesWho This Episode Is ForParents who have been told to “wait and see” and feel unsure what to do nextFamilies navigating mixed messages in vision careListeners interested in patient advocacy and informed decision-makingParents who want ways to stay connected to their child's development during periods of uncertaintyKey TakeawayWaiting doesn't have to mean doing nothing.
