Your first reaction might feel automatic, but it often becomes your reputation. Before logic arrives, before you think you had time to choose your words, something already showed up in your name. That small window between stimulus and response may be brief, but it reveals far more about your mindset than most people realize. In this episode, we explore how your first reaction can either damage your credibility or establish your influence. Most people wait until they feel pressure before they try to regulate their emotions. But by that point, the reaction has usually introduced them. Real discipline is built before that moment ever arrives. This episode walks through the psychology behind instinctive reactions, why the brain sometimes interprets inconvenience as threat, and how ego often steps forward before logic has a chance to speak. You'll hear how calm voices gain trust, how composure builds leadership, and how emotional clarity becomes a competitive advantage. This episode of The Mindset Debrief breaks down practical strategies that help you train your response before pressure tests it. You'll learn how to use routines, mindset habits, and internal language to build discipline that holds steady when the moment tries to pull you off balance. True composure isn't the absence of feeling. It's the ability to guide emotion instead of letting emotion guide you.The episode highlights what happens within the first three seconds of conflict, challenge, or surprise. That breath either protects your ego or protects your reputation. The difference between reacting and leading often begins right there.Leadership isn't only seen in public settings. It begins privately, in the way you handle tension, disagreement, or sudden change. This episode shows how those moments don't have to define you, they can reveal who you're becoming.Your first reaction isn't your final answer, but it often becomes what people remember. If you train that moment, you'll begin shaping the rest of the conversation on purpose.Share this episode with someone who could benefit from the information.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:IG: https://www.instagram.com/paulpantani/WEBSITE: https://www.transitiondrillpodcast.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulpantani/SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:https://transitiondrillpodcast.com/home#aboutQUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:paul@transitiondrillpodcast.comSPONSORS:GRND CollectiveGet 15% off your purchaseLink: https://thegrndcollective.com/Promo Code: TRANSITION15
Life imitates art and I even heard a little girl cheer when Glinda slapped Elphaba and I was like "WHAT?!?" At best Glinda starts the second film as what is comparable to a Nazi sympathizer... no matter her reasoning (which is that she likes getting stuff and being praised, not a very convincing excuse) She's not a good person at the start of the film... there is a seed of good but it always came from Elphie's influence, ALWAYS and ONLY because of Elphaba... now I do applaud her willingness to change because she feels guilt about it from the start but like he said Fiyaro was only pretending to go along with Wizard to be a double agent, not because he wanted power and fame... Glinda was in it for herself... but as a character we see her growth and it's true and genuine goodness in my opinion... I don't have a problem with the character's redemption what I have a problem with is the reaction, it seems like moreso in the second film but overall that the audience likes her more, and she's goofy and funny so I get it, she's charming and Ariana is adorable... but people are being just as niave as munchkins and the studio is being just like the wizard, she's marketable and it doesn't matter that she's not the good guy (per se) they can "sell" her and people are buying it... imagine missing the point that hard, embarrassing

They discuss how there is a lot to pick on TV lately, some of which they'd even like to see if time allowed (3:41). They give their first reactions to the HBO series 'It: Welcome to Derry' (14:26). Lastly, in the non-spoilers is the talk of 'Task' on HBO (24:14). To begin spoilers, Blaine and Donovan talk about how 'Chad Powers' is great, though it may not even deserve to be as funny as it is (27:13). Then they finalize their thoughts on the HBO series 'Task,' a show that balances its heavy themes and leaves viewers asking questions long after it is complete (45:23). So many biopics feature the story of an artist from cradle to grave....all in 2 hours. Those of you who know me or have listened to the show before know I'm....uh....not a fan of these types of pods. They're often a cherry picked list of moments in the artist's life until the moment of triumph – artistically and in overcoming personal obstacles. Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere does it backwards. Welcome to episode 131 of See Hear Podcast. In Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, we find Bruce at an artistically satisfying place and being hugely popular (though not as popular as he would get). What does an ambitious artist do following a number 1 record with one of the greatest working bands in America? He goes into a bedroom with a 4 track recorded (new technology for the day), records a bunch of dark personal songs about troubled people....and insists on putting these songs (FROM A CASSETTE) out as his new LP. The film follows the book by Warren Zanes “Deliver Me From Nowhere” which covers the period in exquisite detail. It covers Springsteen's fascination with a serial killer and classic cinema, and how they helped influence his songwriting of the period. The story behind Nebraska is not what you'd expect from a Hollywood film...not about the man who was simultaneously recording the biggest album of his career while he was recording the most personal. The film starts with a superstar who has mental health issues, and needs to deliver something small. If we were doing bonus / Patreon shows, this would most likely be classified as one of those. Instead of badgering my partners Kerry and Tim into seeing this new Springsteen biopic, I went with 4 willing folks to a local cinema, then adjourned to a nearby cafe'. Loaded up with coffee and cake, I plugged in an external microphone into my phone, turned on the voice recorder software, then had a conversation about with my wife Joanne, and our friends Kate and Geoff about the film we had just watched – no time to fashion our thoughts....just an instant gut reaction. Sadly, Joanne couldn't be picked up on the mic with the constant background noises one hears in a busy cafe, so she's been edited out. This episode is short, and we surely missed out salient points that further contemplation might have bought – that doesn't matter. This is an honest reaction. Next month, Kerry, Tim and I will return to the style of show you're familiar with. “I'm not one of these people who keeps the phone on, and the champagne in the fridge.” Peter Howitt certainly didn't seem to be expecting the news of his 2025 prize in economic sciences. In this call recorded just after the announcement, he talks to the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith about his longstanding friendship with fellow-laureate Philippe Aghion and how they started their collaboration in the conducive environment of MIT. “My future,” he concludes, “is going to involve more economics, and less golf, than I had anticipated!” © Nobel Prize Outreach. “I had a whole list of people that I thought were going to win,” says Joel Mokyr, “And I wasn't on it.” Waking early, he opened up his computer to find out who had been awarded the 2025 prize in economic sciences, and found emails saying 'Congratulations.' Then, as Mokyr tells the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith in this brief call, he saw missed calls from Sweden on his phone and, “The suspicion started to ripen!” © Nobel Prize Outreach. “Peter, Peter, make yourself available, your phone, they're trying to reach you!” Listen to Philippe Aghion telling Peter Howitt that the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has been attempting to call him, captured as part of this call made shortly after the public announcement of their joint 2025 economic sciences prize. In this conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith he also reveals his joy and surprise at the news, discusses the implications of their ‘creative destruction' model of sustained economic growth, and suggests paths to ensuring that the fruits of growth can be more widely shared. © Nobel Prize Outreach. “I would say a fundamental discovery really becomes true when you can apply it to something concrete.” In this conversation, recorded after two hectic days following the prize announcement, new physics laureate Michel Devoret reflects on the excitement of seeing the fruits of research. He also talks about his co-laureate John Clarke, one of his role models, together with Lord Kelvin. Devoret describes how he woke on announcement day to find that the world already knew the news: “I had completely forgotten that October was the Nobel Prize month!” © Nobel Prize Outreach. “I am just part of a huge movement. I'm humbled, I'm grateful and I'm honoured.” – The announcement of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize came as a huge surprise to Maria Corina Machado. In this interview, recorded directly after the news was broken, she describes how honoured she feels, and highlights the strength of her fellow Venezuelans. “I accept this is as a recognition to our people, to the millions of Venezuelans that are anonymous and are risking everything they have for freedom, justice and peace and I'm absolutely convinced that we will achieve it.”Maria Corina Machado was interviewed by Robyn E. “I'm very proud to be in the line of some really great writers and poets.” In this interview, new literature laureate László Krasznahorkai shares his happiness about his Nobel Prize, which came as a surprise. Krasznahorkai speaks about how bitterness is an important driver for him, and also highlights the importance of using your fantasy. “Without fantasy, it's an absolute different life. “This is the mind of the researcher in Japan,” says Susumu Kitagawa, “Don't switch off the light, even at night.” In this short conversation recorded the day after the announcement of his Nobel Prize in Physics, Kitagawa talks to the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith about his approach to tackling grand challenges, and how to keep a lookout for the unexpected. He also explains how his perspective on research has a lineage that extends back to other Japanese Nobel Prize laureates Kenichi Fukui, Akira Yoshino and even Hideki Yukawa, the very first Nobel Prize laureate from Japan.© Nobel Prize Outreach.First reactions terms of use: https://www.nobelprize.org/ceremonies/streams-terms-of-use Hosted on Acast. “Some people thought it was a whole load of rubbish. But it didn't turn out that way.” Richard Robson's new concept for molecular architecture, which occurred to him while building models for teaching, was the starting point for the burgeoning field of metal–organic frameworks. In this conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith, recorded just after his Nobel Prize in Chemistry was announced, he recounts how this new idea emerged and how, in the end, he just had to do something about it. He also offers some modest reflections on a long life in chemistry, which he says wasn't exactly a vocation: “I sort of drifted into it, I couldn't think of anything better to do.”© Nobel Prize Outreach.First reactions terms of use: https://www.nobelprize.org/ceremonies/streams-terms-of-use Hosted on Acast. “I set out to build beautiful things and solve intellectual problems.” Omar Yaghi was just changing flights when he had heard the news that he had been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. For this conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith, recorded as he was departing on the next leg of his journey, Yaghi speaks about his early life as a refugee in Jordan, the wonderful way his field has developed, and the overwhelming draw of the beauty of chemistry; “The deeper you dig, the more beautifully you find things are constructed.” © Nobel Prize Outreach. “I was out walking the dogs and she started yelling, and I thought there was a grizzly bear nearby.” Actually, what Fred Ramsdell's wife was telling him, while on a hiking trip together, was that he had been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. In this conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith, recorded early the following day, Ramsdell recall how the realisation dawned on them. He goes on to speak about the benefits of working in the environment of biotech, the joy of finding talented collaborators, and the importance of celebrating the dedication of those that nurtured hundreds of generations of the all-important scurfy mouse, in which he and Mary Brunkow discovered the FOXP3 gene: “I'm really in awe of the fact that they were able to do that for so long. “I could not imagine accepting the prize without the two of them,” says John Clarke of his fellow Nobel Prize laureates in physics, John Martinis and Michel Devoret. In this short conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith, recorded just after the public announcement of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics, Clarke recalls the electric atmosphere in the lab, 40 years ago, during their experiments in which they first demonstrated macroscopic quantum tunnelling. Clarke also reflects on others who inspired his thinking at the start of his career. © Nobel Prize Outreach.First reactions terms of use: https://www.nobelprize.org/ceremonies/streams-terms-of-use Hosted on Acast. "I believe this will encourage immunologists and physicians to apply the T regulatory cells to treat various immunological diseases.” Shimon Sakaguchi, 2025 Nobel Prize laureate in physiology or medicine, has always been driven by the desire to find new ways to combat disease. In this conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith, recorded just after the prize announcement, Sakaguchi speaks briefly about his surprise at the news and reflects on the fundamental research question that kept him dedicated to the field after many others abandoned it, a question that took over two decades to answer.© Nobel Prize Outreach.First Reactions terms of use: https://www.nobelprize.org/ceremonies/streams-terms-of-use Hosted on Acast. “My phone rang, and I saw a number from Sweden and thought, well that's just spam of some sort, so I disabled the phone and went back to sleep.” Mary Brunkow clearly wasn't expecting the call from Stockholm. This brief conversation with the Nobel Prize's Adam Smith catches the new medicine laureate at her dining table at 4:30am, an hour and a half after she had heard the news. She talks about the power of genetics to unravel biology and how she feels it was an honour to have been one of the contributors to solving the puzzle of immune tolerance: “It takes a bunch of different brains, all working on it together, for sure!” © Nobel Prize Outreach.First Reactions terms of use: https://www.nobelprize.org/ceremonies/streams-terms-of-use Hosted on Acast. Produced by Joseph Cottrell, Wayne Hall, Ken Fuller and Jeffrey Crecelius This week it was a pleasure to welcome Billy Sherwood to the YMP once again. We spoke to him just before a rehearsal at Mickey's Black Box rehearsal facility as the band prepared for the 2025 Fragile Tour of the US. Since that conversation, Yes have played 2 concerts. We spoke to Billy about the tour, his gear and the new Yes album. He was as gracious and open as usual - a great conversation that I know you will enjoy. Following the first concert on the tour, Mark and I got back together again to discuss the setlist. Clearly, if you don't like spoilers, you'll want to press stop on your device after the Billy interview to avoid hearing the specifics of what the band will be playing. What will the band be playing on this tour? Has Billy's kit changed? What is it like to play The Fish live? See if you agree with us and then leave a comment below. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1B7sRsHMTQ Preorder the Barry Plummer 2026 Calendar! “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans” What's the best way to pass as a Vulcan? Become one! That's what Pike, Uhura, La'an, and Chapel do in order to save a pre-warp civilization without violating the Prime Directive. Doesn't make sense? Don't worry, it's all just a setup for a story that aims to shed light on what goes on in the Vulcan mind. After their one-minute mission is done, the foursome is unable to transform back into humans but finds that they like being Vulcan more. This is a very troubling development for the crew as they watch Nurse Chapel shun all relationships in favor of work, Pike fall in love with 42-minute rotating shifts for more efficient operations, Uhura brainwash her boyfriend, and La'an try to take over the ship and start an interstellar war. The only hope for returning things to normal? A Vulcan called Doug. In this episode of Saddle Up! hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our journey through Strange New Worlds with “Four-and-a-Half Vulcans.” We discuss the concept, the setup, the humor, and what each character's situation reveals about Vulcans and themselves.
