In this insightful episode, host Mark Stinson sits down with Ben Gillenwater, a technology expert with a background as a CTO, former NSA contractor, and entrepreneur. Together, they delve into the critical topic of internet safety in the home, exploring the intersection of creativity, technology, and security. Ben shares his unique perspective on how the digital age's innovations come with significant privacy and security concerns that every family should be aware of. He offers practical advice on how to protect personal information and minimize risks, emphasizing the importance of staying vigilant in the face of increasingly sophisticated online threats.5 Key Takeaways:1. Understanding the Stakes: Internet safety extends far beyond physical threats; it includes privacy, emotional well-being, and protecting against the monetization of our digital behaviors. Major companies like Meta, Google, and Microsoft are financially motivated to collect and utilize personal data to enhance their advertising revenue, often at the cost of user privacy.2. The Hidden Dangers of Data Collection: Seemingly harmless online activities can lead to significant behavioral and information exposure. For instance, social media platforms like Facebook track user behavior across the internet, leading to data breaches like the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where personal data was exploited for political gain.3. Children and Internet Safety: Giving children unfiltered access to the internet is akin to leaving your home's front door unlocked. Ben stresses the importance of monitoring and controlling internet access for children and gradually increasing their exposure as they mature and develop better judgment.4. The Illusion of Free Services: Many free apps and services are designed to capture and monetize user data. Ben advises listeners to be skeptical of "free" offerings, as they often come with hidden costs, such as compromised privacy and personal information being sold to third parties.5. Practical Solutions for Families: There are actionable steps that families can take to protect themselves, such as using child safety apps like Bark, which offer comprehensive monitoring of children's online activities. However, as children grow older, it's essential to balance technical controls with education on digital literacy and responsible online behavior.Quote:*"You are safer removing the locks in your house than you are giving your kids unfiltered access to the Internet." — Ben GillenwaterDon't miss this episode if you want to learn how to safeguard your family's digital life and navigate the complexities of internet safety in the modern age.Subscribe & Follow: Stay updated with the latest episodes of Your World of Creativity by subscribing on your favorite podcast platform and following us on social media.

FORMER NSA OPERATIVE IDENTIFIES THE #1 GOAL OF THE GLOBALISTS-MUST LISTEN INTERVIEW!
Hour 2 - Happy Monday! Here's what Nick Reed covers this hour: National security adviser Jake Sullivan dodged a question about whether the Biden administration's negotiations with Qatar — to secure the release of U.S. citizens being held by Hamas terrorists inside Gaza — could endanger Americans around the world. A majority of American adults would not be willing to serve in the military were the U.S. to enter into a major war, recent polling has found. Former NSA and CIA chief Michael Hayden, smeared patriotic American Christians who own firearms, claiming they are “no different” from Hamas terrorists. The Louisville banker who opened fire at his workplace, killing five people and injuring eight others, was apparently motivated by his outrage over what he deemed to be “lax” gun control laws — hoping his rampage would spur lawmakers to enact new measures. Nick refers back to an old AOTW that was once part of Antifa. A U.S. Army soldier is blasting the Biden administration after being charged for equipment he was ordered to leave during Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Several middle school administrators have been reassigned after allegedly showing up to a school basketball game under the influence.
Today we are joined by Teresa Shea, who has served more than 35 years in intelligence and defense within the public and private sectors. She served as executive vice president of technology and director of cyber reboot at In-Q-Tel, and prior to that had a distinguished 32 career with the National Security Agency ending as the director of signals intelligence. So she's currently the president of Oplnet, LLC, and serves on many boards as an advisor with a passion for a safer and more secure nation. For this episode, we are going to bust some notorious myths about working in the Intelligence Community and how to get a job at NSA. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome former Texas Rep. Will Hurd's realization that he has no chance at the GOP presidential nomination and is dropping out. They also rip former NSA and CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden for responding to a call for Sen. Tommy Tuberville to be removed from a Senate committee assignment (presumably over his hold on military nominations over abortion policy) by asking whether Tuberville ought to be removed from the human race. Finally, they scratch their heads as the White House called a press lid before noon on Tuesday, meaning President Biden would not be in public for the rest of the day, and the White House feed on X was chattering about combatting junk fees and excessive credit card fees. In today's episode of the Brains Byte Back podcast, we speak with Mike Starr, Founder and CEO at trackd, a platform that aims to simplify vulnerability management and patch management. From this episode, you will learn about Starr's journey from being an NSA engineer to entering the startup world. We also learn about the intriguing story behind the name trackd and how it resonates with both tech enthusiasts and non-nerds alike. To kick off the show Starr shares how he transitioned from his role as an NSA engineer to the startup world after meeting a brilliant individual at a tech gathering in DC. This encounter led him to work on software-defined networking and eventually paved the way for founding trackd. Starr then shares his views on some of the worst cybersecurity advice, including the misbelief in the security of air-gapped networks. He emphasizes the need for tailored security approaches that consider the specific context and needs of each organization. Additionally, he shares the best cybersecurity advice for listeners, which according to him is understanding the problems that need solving and aligning security and IT teams' efforts. He takes it a step further and advocates that collaborative decision-making, treating humans as humans, and bridging the gap between security and IT tools are essential in this process. Also, Starr sheds light on the significance of considering the human factor in cybersecurity breaches. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration and empathy between different teams and how vendors can contribute to fostering a more collaborative culture. And finally shares how trackd aims to expand its network and install base, providing tools and features to eliminate vulnerabilities in enterprises. With a focus on making patching safer and more efficient by aligning it with corporate risk strategies and considering the operators' perspective. Links

Every bit of anything done electronically in America is collected word for word. Every phone call, text, email, credit card and banking transaction, is being collected right now for every citizen. Tice says under W. Bush NSA ignored regulations starting their metadata collections, so the FISA court was installed to control abuse. But now they're ignored or lied to. The FISA Court has to take whatever the Intel Community tells them as gospel and trusts they're honorable people. These are not honorable people any more. The entire intelligence system has jumped to the point where there is no oversight anymore. We have a system where Congress itself can possibly be blackmailed along with a former President. NSA started collecting and targeting all of Obama's communications beginning in 2004. GUEST: RUSS TICE, FORMER NSA ANALYST
