In today's episode, I speak to Ruth Hancock from Fresh and Green Vegetables in Devon. Ruth's business is 22 years old so she has a huge amount of experience of organic veg production as well as earning a living from doing it. In many ways, Ruth has kept things simple by developing a 75-strong veg box scheme that operates weekly through most of the season and fortnightly through the late winter and spring, minimising the need to buy in produce from elsewhere. We talk about lessons learned from running a veg box scheme over two decades both in terms of dealing with customers and growing the veg. Ruth has some important reflections on pricing and financial viability and the challenges that small-scale, organic growers can face when they under value themselves and the fruits of their labour. We end on another critical topic, which is looking after your body. Ruth is also a yoga instructor, which she sees as pivotal to her longevity as a grower and hopefully she might get you thinking about your body as your most important tool. So, let's get to it.This podcast is brought to you by the Organic Growers Alliance, the UK's only grower-led organisation providing technical and practical advice and support on organic growing. Green vegetables may be the key to keeping you sane and away from depression.
Written by Neil Arnott The Old Green Vegetables is a comedy featuring two long time drinking buddies Jack and Norman. They meet three or four times a week at their local, the Badger's Crook, somewhere in London, and while away the hours sharing a pint or two and putting the world to rights. Jack is an upright citizen, retired (ex-military) and fastidious about his appearance. Norman on the other hand is somewhat shambolic, writing a book that never seems to progress and pottering around markets. He is also a conspiracy theorist with a long-hidden secret that, when it comes to light, amazes Jack and sends them both on an adventure which will change their lives forever. Starring: Andrew C. Husband as Gerald D.G Jones as Jack David Swift as Norman and Katherine McDermott as Rosie Directed by James Steventon and Lauren Sturgess

Hey Girls!Wanna know how you can boost your beauty, health, and emotions? While we're on the subject of healthy eating on the go- and especially in reference to our previous two videos about salads- we want to provide some practical 411. This episode piggy backs on our previous podcast episode and we feel that between these two episodes, you’ll have the foundation you need for lifelong health- if you implement them, of course! I'm your host, Alexa James. In our previous podcast, I gave you heads up that we would be talking about green stuff. Wanna guess? And no, we’re not talking about money today. However, we do you plan on having a nice lineup of episodes about money- so make sure you subscribe to this podcast so you don’t miss out! In this episode, we talk about being rich with your health. The best currency you can feed your body to make it as healthy and beautiful as possible and to eat as many greens as possible. So what do I mean by greens? I’m talkin' romaine and bitter lettuces, kale, watercress, escarole, endive, broccoli, greens like: collard, mustard carrot and turnip, spinach, arugula, cabbage, green onions and garlic, bok choy, sprouts, baby greens and micro greens, Napa cabbage and Chinese cabbage, Swiss chard, asparagus, celery, chives, artichokes, okra, leeks, fennel, zucchini, cucumber and green bell peppers when their peeled and seeded, and herbs like basil, mint, cilantro and parsley. And don’t forget that lovely fruit, avocado. The Most beneficial greens are the leafy -ones and the darker the better. And you can eat them raw, cooked, juiced, powdered, and in your favorite smoothie or homemade açaí bowl. There are even brands out there that are adding veggies to their ice cream and mac & cheese. The beauty, health and emotional benefits you get from greens should encourage and challenge you to get creative with those greens and get them into your diet as much as possible.Follow us at: www.ChikChat.com/Bloghttp://www.Instagram.com/ChikChathttp://www.Facebook.com/ChikChatSupport the show (http://www.ChikChat.com)

Crowns and Flops: My So-called Motivational Speaking and My Pink Yeti Cup Flops: Before I literally started recording this episode, there was a lot going on. Talk about noise, conundrum, and agitation! There was so much noise from the appliances (e.g. the washing machine, the dishwasher, the bathroom exhaust fan, tv, etc.) and the kids fighting each other. To hush everything, I had to yell at my family just to stop every little thing and every little human from making sounds. It was very frustrating. I also stumbled on a hilarious post that made me laugh so hard which is very related to my flop. The post said, "If you walk by my house and hear me yelling, it's not yelling. I call it motivational speaking for people that don't want to listen."
