Universal basic income is back on the table. Elon floated "universal high income" which sounds more like a bumper sticker than a policy. And your social media algorithm is feeding you anger because anger drives engagement. That is not an accident. That is architecture.What if we pointed all of this compute at cancer? At longevity?     One of the most persistent myths in the health and fitness space is that fasting for more than a day or two causes the body to consume its own muscle tissue. It sounds scientific. It gets repeated by professionals. And the research says otherwise. The human body follows a fuel hierarchy. Glycogen burns first. Fat oxidation follows. Ketone bodies fuel the brain. A process called autophagy, which ramps up significantly between 24 and 72 hours of fasting, recycles damaged cellular components. Old proteins. Misfolded proteins. Precancerous cells. The body cleans the junk pile before it goes anywhere near functional muscle fiber. Growth hormone increases up to fivefold during extended fasts. Growth hormone is muscle protective. It signals the body to preserve lean mass and mobilize fat stores. The hormonal environment during a fast is actually more favorable for muscle preservation than a standard caloric deficit. A 2016 study published in the Journal of Translational Medicine found that subjects who fasted intermittently lost significantly more fat while retaining more muscle than subjects on standard caloric restriction. The mechanism is insulin. Caloric restriction keeps insulin elevated. The body never fully switches to fat burning. Fasting drops insulin to baseline and gives the body a clear metabolic signal. The fitness and supplement industries have a financial incentive to keep this information suppressed.     Sam Altman handed off safety and security oversight at OpenAI this week to focus on building data centers at unprecedented scale and raising capital. The man building what he claims will be superintelligence told the world that safety is not his primary focus. And I think about that through the lens of faith. Genesis 11. The Tower of Babel. They said let us build a tower whose top is in the heavens and let us make a name for ourselves. Not for God. For ourselves. The Lord came down to see what they built. He came down. Because it was never going to reach Him. This week an AI system designed new polymers that were four times tougher than anyone predicted. The AI discovered a quantum mechanical effect that surprised even the scientists who built it. The creation of the creation surprised its creators. But the AI did not create the truth. It found it. The laws of physics were already there. The quantum effects existed since the foundation of the world. AI is a flashlight. An extraordinary flashlight. But the room was already built and the furniture was already placed. Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship. Jesus picked up the tab and we cannot even leave the tip. That is the gospel in one sentence. Grace not works. From that position of grace I can look at AI without fear, superintelligence without anxiety, and longevity research without losing my footing. Because my footing is not in the technology. My footing is in the one who made the minds that made the technology. John 14:6. I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. He did not say I am a way. He said I am the way. I am not a zealot. I am a man with an alignment. My faith makes me strong. All Him. Not me. And it never changes how I serve the person standing in front of me. God is not the machine. God made the people who made the machine. Use it well. Use it wisely.     Day nine of Connor's Cut. Three hundred and six pounds. Same as yesterday. This is the moment most people walk away from transformation. Not on the day the number goes up. On the day it refuses to move. Because a stall after nine days of doing everything right feels like the effort is pointless. But the effort is working. The addiction just wants you to believe it is not. The journal Addiction published a 2026 study from the University of Michigan examining ultra-processed food addiction in a nationally representative sample of over 2,000 adults aged 50-80. Adults between 50 and 64 had nearly twice the rate of ultra-processed food addiction compared to adults 65-80. The reason is developmental timing. The younger group were teenagers during the late 1970s and 1980s when ultra-processed foods flooded the American food supply, hitting them during the critical window for addiction vulnerability. A separate editorial in the same journal compared the ultra-processed food industry directly to tobacco. Deny the evidence. Claim the science is unsettled. Meanwhile nearly 300 studies across 36 countries document that these foods trigger cravings, loss of control, and continued use despite consequences, meeting the clinical criteria for substance use disorder. The FDA and NIH launched a joint initiative modeled after the Tobacco Regulatory Science Program. Food addiction is unlike every other addiction because you cannot quit the substance.
