Exodus 17: 1-7; Rs psalm 42: 2.3; 43: 3.4; Luke 4: 24-30 THE WATER OF LIFE The theme for our meditation today is: The Water of Life. There is a city standing on a rocky hill. From a distance of one or two kilometres, people look at the city and a number of questions arise, such as: how to make a highway from the foot of the hill to the city at the top? Does the city residents feel at home living on the rock hill? Can the city residents plant something on a stone? Where did the residents of the city get water for their lives? The question about water is certainly something that is inevitable. When tourists and visitors thought that the large amounts of trucks were transporting water from other places to be supplied into the city, the locals actually said about something that was surprised and amazed. In the middle of the city stood a banyan tree that was hundreds of years old. From the tree trunks appear springs that are the guarantor of life throughout the city. City residents from generation to generation never lack water for their lives. God we believe and love gives life to everyone and of course a group of people, like a city on the hill of the stone. In giving that life, God completes it with all supporting means that can sustain and maintain life. One of the supporting facilities is water. If God only gives a life and does not maintain and develop it, it means that God wants humans to perish and the environment becomes extinct. Even though our Lord is not a preaching and criminal. In the Scriptures of the Lord God uses water to be a means of supporting life. Today's readings show that. When the Israelites starve and thirst when wandering in the wisdom, God provided water from Mount Batu at Massah and Meriba. This is the story in the book of output as the first reading today. When Samaria's woman was about to draw water in Jacob's well, she not only got physical water to make the body's thirst, but she found Jesus Christ who was the water of life. Jesus gave him the way of faith. The kingdom of heaven dropped into the water world of life in Jesus Christ, which through His Words, Actions, and Cross Testimony, the World and Humanity can achieve eternal life. Life in the world is a life satisfied by physical water from the world of this world. Whereas eternal life must be achieved and experienced by believers when satisfied and filled with the water of life, is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Let's pray. In the name of the Father ... Delivered by Diana Darmosaputro and Gurpreet Kaur from Saint Peter's School Jakarta, Archdiocese of Jakarta, Indonesia. 1 John 4: 7-16; Rs psalm 34: 2-3.4-5.6-7.8-9.10-11; John 11: 19-27 THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT Our meditation today has the theme: Blood of the Covenant. This term is found in the Old and New Testaments. It is a commitment of a binding relationship between God and man. Moses convinced the Israelites to believe firmly in God, and as a sign he made a pact with the lamb to be sacrificed, then its blood was sprinkled on everyone. The people of Israel signified the remission of sins and liberation of the people from all forms of life's hardships by the blood of this covenant. Jesus Christ replaces all forms of sacrifice with His own sacrifice, revealed in the Last Supper event and He declared the cup filled with wine as the new blood of the covenant for the cleansing of sins of the world. After those words were uttered, He surrendered Himself to be put to death on the cross. The blood of this new covenant is remembered and celebrated by the Church on Holy Thursday night and Good Friday. This blood of the covenant is a very basic reason for every follower of Christ to realize and be grateful that they have been paid with a very high price to be saved from sin and the power of the world. This is also the reason for everyone who feels called to shed his blood for the sanctity of life and the good of his fellowmen. These became the holy martyrs of Church as we all know. However, being a martyr today no longer requires shedding blood like in the past when the Church was still under threat of persecution or when missionaries first evangelized corners of the world. Today's martyrs base themselves on evangelical values, namely to follow Jesus Christ as the way, the truth and the life. In practice people dedicate or sacrifice their lives through work and service. Saints Martha, Mary and Lazarus whose feast day we celebrate today is an example for us. Sensitivity and responsibility for others and the circumstances around us are part of our calling to martyrdom. When there are difficulties, suffering, shortages, and needs that occur, may we be like these three friends of Jesus who acted to provide solutions. But we are not only useful to others through works and services. We need to balance it with spiritual life through prayer, spiritual guidance, accompaniment, liturgy, sacraments, deepening of faith and God's word. Mary and Lazarus can be examples of this. We really need a balance of our physical and spiritual life. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Lord Jesus Christ, You are our way, truth and life, so we ask that our life and works will always be in Your care. Our Father who art in heaven... First, Akaal Security, a Sikh private security company, administered this detention facility in El Centro for a long time and it came to my attention a couple of years ago when the ICE stories were going viral. Secondly, in 2019, a six-year-old girl from Punjab, Gurpreet Kaur, died of a heat stroke in the Arizona desert on the US-Mexico border after her mother went in search of water during a border crossing.
