Hey everyone! A few weeks ago I caught up with my friend Mike Larson over at a Moneyshow event in Sarasota. It was right around the Bitcoin ETF approval and he invited me onto his show. What a pleasure being on another show with a terrific podcaster who knows his stuff. He got me excited so I got my friend Bobby Lee who started the first Asian Bitcoin exchange, BTC China, to join me on a panel at Moneyshow Las Vegas in a few weeks from now. Bobby runs Balet right now, a Bitcoin company and he's into poker like me. Who knows what fun well get into. Anyways, enjoy the show! --- Charlie Shrem is an American entrepreneur and long-time fixture in the cryptocurrency industry. A founding member of the Bitcoin Foundation, he is also general partner of Druid Ventures, editor of the Crypto Investor Network, and host of The Charlie Shrem Show Podcast. In this fascinating interview, Charlie covers several major developments in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency space – including those most important to both private and public investors. As Charlie noted in a recent Tweet: “THE FLOOD IS COMING. Prepare now.” That's because the mainstreaming of Bitcoin and developments in Decentralized Finance (DeFi) are unleashing a wave of innovation and investment. For instance, he believes crypto could be used to improve AI technology by incentivizing the sharing of data in real time. We also discuss Real World Assets (RWAs) and how tokenized securities can bring liquidity and freer trading to formerly illiquid assets. And we talk about how startups are trying to help unlock “locked” Bitcoin for people, but in ways that don't require them giving up control of their keys to a third party or exchange. The discussion then pivots to the recent mass approval of Bitcoin ETFs, and what the involvement of more mainstream investors and institutional money in the market will mean. We talk about key regulatory developments and how steps Washington takes in the next couple of years could actually HELP the industry rather than HARM it. Charlie then discusses the differences between some of the more (and less) attractive Bitcoin ETFs. And he names several publicly traded companies that investors can look into if they want to profit in the crypto space. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of what Charlie plans to cover at the MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Las Vegas, set for Feb. 21-23 at the Paris Las Vegas resort. Finally, he invites everyone to join their community to grow their real estate portfolio.  Jason then interviews Professor Campbell R. Harvey from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and the author of DeFi and the Future of Finance as they talk about the yield curve and Decentralized Finance. Harvey discusses the phenomenon of an inverted yield curve, which has predicted every recession for the last several decades. Harvey expressed his concern about the current inverted yield curve, which has been in place for 12 months, traditionally leading to a recession. Jason and Campbell also discuss the significance of an inverted yield curve and the potential of decentralized finance (defi) in the financial world. They identified problems with the current financial system and the possibility of solutions through DeFi, such as the need for an alternative to the SWIFT system for wire transfers and the ability to store and use value in transactions. With the advent of WEB 3.0 and the decentralization of monetary assets, DeFi is truly set to revolutionize the world in all economic aspects especially finance.   Key Takeaways: Jason's editorial 1:27 Today's episode: The future of DeFi 2:25 The 'other' housing crisis- a huge opportunity for real estate investors 5:05 Chart: Housing demand robust on favorable age demographics of FTHBs 6:56 Home prices hit record in September 7:44 FireYourManagers.com 8:38 Join our monthly meeting- go to EmpoweredInvestorPro.com 9:27 Join our cruise- go to EmpoweredInvestorLive.com    Campbell R. How to get you book published and become a New Your Times best selling author with New York Times best selling author Daven Michaels In His Words:  I embarked on my first entrepreneurial endeavor at the tender age of 15 when I began designing clothing for local musicians. I don't know why I started so early, but I was immediately hooked. I had a knack for music industry fashion and, before long, I was designing clothing for some of the biggest bands of the 80s and 90s. As my enthusiasm for clothing design ebbed, I started looking for a new challenge. Again on a whim, I decided to start a communications company. It was completely from scratch. All I had was a telephone (landline of course!), and a desk with a chair. Despite those humble beginnings, I was able to expand my company into 60 different U.S. cities within 5 years. Buyout offers were flooding in, so I decided to sell the business to a public company in exchange for equity. Soon after, my new parent company was also bought out. I ended up with an impressive nest egg and an entire universe of opportunity. With my newfound financial freedom, I returned to my passion for music and entertainment. I actually became the biggest electronic music event producer in the U.S., throwing parties for 15,000 to 20,000 people a night. I rolled that success into a successful career as a recording artist… and then a much longer career as a music and television producer, again working with some of the biggest bands in the world. After the turn of the millennium, my entrepreneurial brain latched onto a tiny, but powerful idea. Always a fan of tech and innovation, I was inspired by the rise of online entrepreneurship. My vision was to use the internet to connect business owners with a global labor pool. So I founded 123Employee, an outsourcing company with work centers in the Philippines. We were able to offer an affordable, agile workforce to independent entrepreneurs and small business owners. 123Employee was technically a brick and mortar business, but I really wanted the freedom to pursue passion projects and travel the world. So I set up systems that would allow me to manage everything remotely. And even after I had 1,000 employees on the books across 3 continents, I was able to operate the entire business with just my laptop and cell phone from anywhere in the world. As I traveled more, and met other aspiring entrepreneurs around the world, I realized I had a passion for other small business owners and entrepreneurs reach their dreams as well. So I started public speaking and was soon sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in business. I wrote several books, including my biggest hit Outsource Smart which landed on multiple Best Seller lists including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, along with becoming an Amazon #1 Best Seller. I even founded an entire association (Virtual Entrepreneurs Association) dedicated to providing resources and support for entrepreneurs and small business owners at any stage of their careers. For the past 6+ years I have also been a Cryptopreneur & Investor. Digital assets and the innovations of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) are revolutionizing the way we use money, and I'm thrilled to be at the forefront. My currently Executive Chairman of CurrentC Group, a power provider to the Crypto Mining industry and Michaels Press, a US based, boutique Publishing House.

Summary notes: Ethereum is the most networked protocol in the crypto space and is used for powering NFTs and decentralized finance.  Ethereum has recently completed  a major protocol change which piqued the interest of many people who wanted to see if the transition went relatively smoothly, which it did.   Another big reason for increased interest in Ethereum is in response to the centralized crypto exchanges that went under due to human error.  The most used Protocol to power Decentralized finance tokens is Ethereum. DEFI exchanges are making it through the centralized crypto exchange crashes relatively smoothly, showing the power of a distributed network and highlighting the need for using smart contracts and automated systems. This will likely  attract many more non technical participants to Ethereum and its applications, as it is seen as a reliable and secure platform. Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are likely going to revolutionize the economy and the way we access content and assets. NFTs can be used to give artists like Beyonce special access to their fans, allowing them to offer exclusive perks and benefits to token owners. NFTs can also be used by businesses to bypass banks and raise money from customers without any bank involved. In addition, NFTs can be used to create assets and increase the value of a company's balance sheet. Ethereum is the token most often used to build these types of platforms. NFTs are a great way to create a more transparent and incentive-based economic system. Yet what you'll find especially interesting about Jeremy's story is that his ventures are often on the bleeding edge, with many of his ideas being ahead of their time, and how he intentionally exits his businesses once they become mainstream. He goes on to explain how his penchant for being on the bleeding edge drove his decision to leave his work in crypto, as well as other business that followed, and coming full circle with his venture into the psychedelic industry. Jeremy is transparent with the fact that despite all his business success, his road as an entrepreneur hasn't always been easy. In this episode of Ventures, I introduce and play an important clip from episode 97 with Daniel Wilson, PhD (https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-wilson-phd-46956b35/) regarding the importance of Web3 to help humans flourish around the world. We talk about how while incentives for traditional organizations (e.g. banks) are often not compelling enough to provide the same services that developed nations enjoy, Web3 - especially Decentralized Finance (DeFi) - allows unprecedented access to quality financial services. We also talk about how a multidisciplinary approach to Web3 in the developing world is critical, and we discuss the work that Daniel is doing right now to help more language communities participate on the Internet. Visit https://satchel.works/@wclittle/ventures-episode-107 for detailed notes and links to resources (videos, articles, etc…) mentioned. You can watch this episode via video here.   1:39 - tee-up for the clip, in light of Daniel's background in human language technology, how does he see Web3 - at its core - helping humans flourish globally? Core pieces of infrastructure are being put in place to give people unprecedented opportunities for development without the same ol' paths to corruption. 3:25 - The amount that people save in life - all of a sudden, via a decision from one corrupt person, can devalue the currency and wipe out that value.4:03 - Institutions (like banks) don't have the kind of incentives that they do in developed nations. It is too risky for them. Web3 changes this. 5:07 - Terms DeFi, DAOs, blockchains, metaverse - combined with all the disciplines - is why Web3 is such an important and exciting area right now. Human challenges vs. technology challenges.6:47 - What Daniel is doing right now in Web3 to help move things forward. (compassionate innovation…advancements in human language technology.) “If you don't speak a language that is on the Internet, then you are still left out”Best way to get a hold of Brandon online to continue the conversation.  Twitter: @danwils (academic) @geoframeai (web3 & smart stream) // Also: @_smartstream_ // LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-wilson-phd-46956b35/ // email: daniel@smartstream.app
