On episode 40 of Canon Fodder we dig into the Roadhouse universe. But wait, you say; there's only one movie and the reboot. How could there possibly be a connection? Well the reboot from 2024 is most certainly not canon, and most certainly not good. But there was a direct to DVD sequel made in the early 2000's starring Johnathon Schaech as Dalton's son and Jake Busey as the bad guy. It's honestly WAY better than it has any business being and certainly better than the garbage remake. Just remember. Pain don't hurt.
If you've been craving a classic ITMT double colon title (it's been a few weeks), you're in luck! Russ and Jared are getting back to the gore with this cursed George Romero remake, Day of the Dead: Bloodline (2017), starring Sophie Skelton, Jeff Gum, Johnathon Schaech, Marcus Vanco, Lillian Blankenship, Ulyana Chan, Mark Rhino Smith, Shari Watson, and a bunch more people you've never heard of. Tune in for a good time, and stay tuned for the full, scene-by-scene breakdown next week!
Have you ever wondered how the Enneagram intersects with the entertainment industry? Do casting directors and writers use the Enneagram in developing your favorite show or movie? Whether it's Parks and Recreation, Modern Family or Les Misérables, sometimes you can see the archetypes play themselves out on screen. This week, we sit down with multi-award-winning producer, writer and director Gary Wheeler for an illuminating conversation about film and the Enneagram. As an Enneagram 9, Gary shares his experience with asserting himself on set, dealing with conflict, and writing scripts from the voice of each character. As Gary states, “My strengths as a writer tend to be in dialogue […] and here's why…because I'm a nine, I can see all perspectives. […] it's easy for me to hear their voices.” With almost 30 years of experience in the film industry, Gary has made more than 40 motion picture and TV productions seen by millions of viewers on platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Peacock, Redbox, Fox Nation, INSP and many more. His works include #1 box office hit War Room, Emmy-nominated The Heart of Christmas, 20th Century's The Trial, and the award-winning western Far Haven. His new television series Blue Ridge starring Johnathon Schaech, Sarah Lancaster and A Martinez released on April 7, 2024.

Episode 4's guest is director Joe Lynch. Joe Lynch is the director of just-released erotic horror thriller SUITABLE FLESH, starring Heather Graham and our own Barbara Crampton (an AMP production). His previous directing credits include MAYHEM, EVERLY, POINT BLANK, WRONG TURN 2 and Shudder's TV series CREEPSHOW. An encyclopaedia of movie knowledge, Joe also co-hosts a long-running podcast THE MOVIE CRYPT with long-time friend Adam Green. Welcome to SCREAM DREAMS - The Nightmares That Shaped Us! Hosts are Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier, Return to Nuke 'Em High), James A Janisse (Kill Count, Dead Meat Podcast) and Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, Suitable Flesh). In this episode…This one is full of surprises! Joe Lynch talks about preparing for this interview by dreaming more… and sleeping even less! How his dreams help him to process his real-life fears. How intense weed smoking used to eradicate his dream recollections. How he dreams cinematically, in camera angles, and how he directs in his sleep. How a scene from SUITABLE FLESH was responsible for his most disturbing death dream. How he uses moments from his dreams in his movies – and his intense fear of hanging upside down (no comment from Catherine!). We discuss the pressure of being a director, and the importance of hiding those inner nerves. Plus long shooting days, the advantage of “French hours”, and taking on internet trolls and negative reviewers on Letterboxd. We talk about Johnathon Schaech's hairy chest, James' smoothy, and the amount of sex in SUITABLE FLESH. Joe and Catherine discuss cinematic nudity, the unsexiness of shooting sex scenes, and the pros and cons of intimacy coordinators. In this week's Side Barb, Barbara drops a huge, sexy dream revelation on Joe – it's a jaw-drop moment for all! Barbara and Joe get emotional as they discuss working together. And Joe and our hosts play a new nightmare-guessing game, with interesting results! Author Richard Chizmar stops by Mainstreet to talk about his celebrated career as a prolific essayist and writer of horror and mysery short stories, novels, and screenplays. He is the founder of Cemetery Dance Publications and editor/publisher of Cemetery Dance magazine. Perhaps best-known in Harford County for his locally-inspired Chasing The Boogeyman, Richard also co-wrote with Stephen King the novella Gwendy's Button Box. Despite his international following and acclaim, Richard still calls Harford County home. Like his friend and sometimes collaborator, the actor Johnathon Schaech (episode 88), Richard credits the strong work ethic he learned from growing up and playing sports in working-class Edgewood for paving the way to his future success as a writer and publisher. That Thing You Do! is a 1996 comedy film written, directed, and co-starring Tom Hanks, detailing the rise and fall of a one-hit wonder pop act from the 1960s. The cast featured Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Johnathon Schaech, and Steve Zahn among others, and included a soundtrack written largely by Hanks himself, with contributions from Adam Schlesinger of Fountains Of Wayne, and other professional songwriters. The film performed modestly at the box office while receiving rave reviews from critics, and has since gone on to be a cult classic film.On a new episode of Hell Is A Musical, Lilz and Scott are joined by Al Gentile for a viewing of That Thing You Do!. Join them as Al discusses the intricacies of caramel camels, Lilz relives some troubling local music memories, and Scott idolizes Steve Zahn's character....with Lilz and Scott!
Tom Hanks is known as a talented actor and producer, but once he wrote and directed a well received period piece about a very archetypal band with a number one single. So to talk about That Thing You Do, Case and Sam are joined by Jukebox Vertigo's Keith Lehtinen for a conversation that spans both a theatrical and director's cut and revels in the class rock and pop homages of the film!

Today's guest holds a special place in my heart, the beautiful Julie Solomon, who I had the honor of recently interviewing. When I started this podcast she played a pivotal role, as you'll hear, and I just knew that I wanted her to appear on the show once it was launched. I consider this episode with Julie more than just an interview though, as it's more about two powerful women coming together to have a conversation about visibility, asking for and getting what you want in your Beautiful Soul-Led Life, and what's truly possible for women when they give themselves the opportunity to shine. Julie Solomon is a Speaker, Business Coach, Host of the top rated The Influencer Podcast, and Author of the upcoming book, Get What You Want: How to Go From Unseen to Unstoppable (in fact, if you're listening on the day that this episode goes live, June 7th, today is such a special day because Julie's new book just released)! Julie was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in journalism and digital media. In her early career, she worked as a publicist representing top musicians and thought leaders such as Lenny Kravitz and Dave Ramsey. When Julie was fired by a PR client, which triggered an intense break out of hives for a week, she realized how working without a purpose was negatively affecting her. She then worked with a life coach and transitioned into the thriving entrepreneur she is today. Julie has launched several successful online programs including Pitch It Perfect, The Influencer Academy, and SHINE Mastermind, which teach clients how to master the important skill sets needed to take a personal brand idea and turn it into a profitable, sustainable business (such as cherry picking brand partnerships that make you thousands a month, or introducing yourself to an influential community of leaders and getting them excited to support you). In her weekly podcast, The Influencer Podcast, Julie offers up real-time coaching, straight talk, and conversations about business growth and personal development to her millions of listeners worldwide. With over a decade of experience in helping individuals turn messages into movements, Julie empowers entrepreneurs to expand their brand and grow their influence. Julie's work has been featured in top tier outlets including, FORBES, Entrepreneur, Business Weekly, SUCCESS, and People Magazine. And she was recently named one of the Top 100 leaders in Influencer Marketing by Influence.Co. Her upcoming book, Get What You Want, is for people who are tired of being told “just be yourself,” and teaches you how to shake off outdated ideas of what is possible and use your newfound belief to make anything you want happen. Most importantly, it gives you confidence to love and accept yourself so you become unstoppable. Julie's daily routine involves journaling, a movement practice, pulling tarot cards and meditating. When she's not traveling to big cities like Los Angeles, Miami or New York, she enjoys skincare and expanding her knowledge on astrology, horoscopes, and manifestation as spirituality and maintaining connection to a higher power is important to her. Julie currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, award-winning actor and activist Johnathon Schaech, two children, Camden and Lily Jo. This time with Julie was so beautiful, and I have so much respect and love for her. My intention with having her join me today is that you get to know this powerful woman, and utilize her journey and perspectives as an inspiration as you live your own Beautiful Soul-Led Life. I can't wait to see the impact that her new book has on the world, and if this episode resonates with you, please let us know your biggest takeaways @elegantfemme1 and @julssolomon.
