Has Modern Technology Killed Evolution? Modern advancements allow us to live in extreme environments and survive conditions that would've once been fatal. Do these technological leaps mean our species has finally bypassed the ancient laws of biological evolution? Our expert explains how our unique development might actually be working in harmony with these environmental pressures rather than against them.Guest: Steve Reilly, PhD, assistant professor of genetics, Yale School of Medicine The Schizophrenia Spectrum: Early Warning Signs And Vague Symptoms While Hollywood often portrays schizophrenia in its most extreme form, the actual progression of the disorder is much different than what we see on screen. Join Marqui, Ednesha, and Kim as they discuss slowing down and really pay attention to the noise...the voices inside our heads, the whispers of our inner critic, the opinions of friends and family, and even the subtle messages society repeats to us about who we should be. Sometimes those voices come from a place of love and protection, but often they leave us second-guessing our own truth. We begin to wonder: Am I good enough? Am I ready? Is this dream even mine—or just someone else's expectation of me?When we stop to ask, what's really holding me back? we uncover more than fear, we uncover the old stories we've been carrying, the doubts that no longer serve us, and the patterns that keep us stuck. The truth is, completion and change rarely arrive wrapped in comfort. They demand courage, honesty, and a willingness to step into the unknown. But on the other side of that discomfort is freedom—the freedom to choose yourself, to honor your joy, and to finally step into the life you've been imagining.TakeawaysChange is essential for growth, but it can be uncomfortable.Astrology can provide insights into personal challenges and strengths.Vulnerability is a source of power, not weakness. It's important to stop apologizing for being your true self.Embracing joy can lead to a more fulfilling life.Self-care and personal growth are ongoing journeys. The fear of being seen can hold us back from our greatness.Life is too short to hold yourself hostage from your potential.

On today's episode I start off with the universe ending me a message after last weeks pod, since i felt that i was in a simulation and it decided to throw this monkey wrench into my life and made me run into someone i was not expecting to run in to. i also ended up in a compromising position and was caught on the side of the road with some fruit in hand, and i was recognized and asked if i needed money, In which i replied yes, yes i do. From there i went on a date and things took a turn in the middle of brunch. My date couldn't tell if we were in a racist situation or a misunderstanding, It was quite funny to me.JUST FOUND ME - THE RANCE ALLEN GROUPTRIUMPH - WU TANG CLAN(00:00 - 25:19)I have a new not so new segment which is about movie reviews and spoilers. This week i speak about “ FROM THE WORLD OF JOHN WICK BALLERINA” yes that is the whole tittle of the movie which is wild to me. But it is a good movie to watch and support. I think this movie could be a franchise movie but will have to try differentiate itself from the franchise. I love that they didn't try to over do it and make the character stronger than is and played to strengths instead of trying to make it seem like she was more than she was. (25:20 - 41:02)I then jump into The Cool Report where i discuss getting upset with a Joe Rogan clip where they hear live news on the president and refuse to speak on the situation. Him along with the director of the fib decide to dodge the bullet and it makes me look at them weird because he is literally a journalist and f the feds heard anything illegal should they have not question some thing a little. From there we talk more politics that take place in NYC. For some reason theirs a debate on wether the new mayoral elect has to take a trip to Israel, and i found that real weird for them to try to push. From there we get into music were we discuss the Clipse and new label beef. It seems Def Jam is not aligned with its pass and has complete changed. Dismissing legendary acts to appease other entities. (41:03 - 01:02:04)We then step into a segment where the listeners ask me 3 questions about myself or just randomness. A character ask i i know the meaning of the new fairy song, I believe they're trying to say its a song about rostitution and got to learn what a 16 is in street terms. Another character wants to know what my inhibitions are, which another wants to know if men are really happy with their choices in partners. (01:02:05 - 01:10:34)Then we have 2 fans ask us a questions for PTL where we get asked the tough questions where we place ourselves in their shoes. Like trying to get your partner to be more feminine because everyone else thinks they have masculine features. Another lover wants the real daddy to step up in their kids life finically but totally seems to forget that's what they signed up for, you're not the step daddy, you're the dad that stepped up or whatever Micheal Jackson dad said. (01:10:35 - 01:22:12)THE FINi give thank to everyone that shows us love and wish y'all the best on the journey called life.(01:22:13 - 01:25:17)please continue to like, share, comment and subscribe.PEACE OUT!!!! My guest today is the broadcaster Vanessa Feltz. Ever since the mid-90s, Vanessa has been a fixture on British TV and radio - and also, for better or worse, our front pages. She became known as the “British Oprah” and that applied not just to her consummate skills as a broadcaster and talent for saying the unsayable, but also what she describes as her “pernicious public cycle of yoyo dieting.” She cut her teeth on This Morning, interviewed stars on the Big Breakfast Bed and hosted her own hit show Vanessa, the first British US-style talk show. She's also presented BBC Radio 2's Early Breakfast Show and BBC London's Breakfast show and now hosts a Saturday show on LBC. But like many women in the public eye, her professional achievements have often played second fiddle to media scrutiny of her private life. Vanessa joined me to talk about finally baring it all in the frank, funny, fearless autobiography she said she'd never write, Vanessa Bares All. We also discussed growing up with a chorus of critics and dealing with the toxic media attention paid to her weight. Plus divorce, being back in the dating game at 62, why she wishes she'd been able to take Ozempic, finally losing her inhibitions and why she'd really like a great big love. * You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Vanessa Bares All by Vanessa Feltz and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me. * If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com. • And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com • The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls @ Pineapple Audio Production. Ever wonder what it truly means to embark on a creative journey? Do the fears and insecurities that often masquerade as a need for 'optimal conditions' sound familiar to you? This podcast episode is an open exploration into the labyrinth of creativity, where we unpack personal experiences of struggling to find the right time to launch our passion projects, and the psychological barriers that hold us back. We challenge the traditional linear ranking of artists, discuss how it stifles creativity, and share personal narratives about overcoming our fears and insecurities. There's a raw, unfiltered discussion about the motivations behind creating art, how pure intentions can often get muddled, and how external factors like financial security can influence the drive to create. We take personal anecdotes from our own lives, and even draw examples from the life of Kurt Cobain, to discuss the concept of compulsion in art, asking ourselves: Can financial security hinder an artist's drive to create? We share insights on how art can be therapeutic, the importance of detachment from the outcome, and the transformative potential of meaningful projects. We round off this episode by sharing tips and strategies to push through discomfort and take the first step of your creative journey. Hear us talk about overcoming doubts, embracing compulsion, and letting go of preconceived expectations. We share stories of inspiration, the power of productive conversations, and the importance of starting small and letting ideas flow freely. This is not just about creating art; it's a journey of self-discovery, growth, and finding your unique voice in a world that often seeks to mold us into something we're not. So come along, let's explore, let's create, and let's conquer our fears together. If you enjoyed this episode, please consider giving us a rating and/or a review. We read and appreciate all of them. Our interview with Larry Smith and Melanie Abrams challenged our assumptions as we explored the many conceptions and misconceptions of cannabis use. Their new book, The Joy of Cannabis, is an attempt to clear up misunderstanding and describe the how and why of safely availing ourselves of the benefits. In the 1930s with the wane of Prohibition the commissioner of the Federal Bureau Narcotics, Harry Anslinger, attempted to retain personal relevance with racist and xenophobic fear mongering and criminalizing marijuana. Now, with no personal financial interests in a dispensary, Smith and Abrams hope to reset perceptions and normalize the discussion by reassessing the merits. They know the research and call for more. They discourage use before the age of 25 to allow full development of our frontal lobes. Not all weed is created equal, so they are pragmatic about finding what's right for you. With much greater safety and effectiveness than alcohol, most importantly they point to how small amounts responsibly administered deliver outsized benefits of pain management, focus, flow, creativity, connection and even orgasm. The tidal wave of legalization is based on reclaiming the virtues. Join us to find out what you might not know.
The Inhibitions of Traditions - Matthew 15:1-9
Have you ever wondered why so many people turn to alcohol to relax, loosen up, and feel free to just be themselves and enjoy life? What is your relationship with alcohol like? Is it one that seems socially acceptable on the surface, but underneath the appearance, you wonder if you really have control, or are you feeling controlled a bit? Do you wonder sometimes what life would be like if you just stopped drinking? Do you know you are not an "alcoholic", but something feels a bit unhealthy, out of control, or off about your relationship with alcohol? Then this episode is for you. In this week's episode I break down why we turn to alcohol, why it's appealing, and why demonizing alcohol is not the solution. I discuss what you can do, if you find yourself wanting to make an adjustment in your relationship with alcohol, but you don't fit in the category of an "alcoholic". And for those who do recognize alcoholism, I speak to you in this episode as well. "Guernica" by Picasso at MOMA, NYC. Gotfryd, Bernard, photographer. Courtesy Library of Congress. What happens when our basic trust in the world is challenged, and the social dimension of reality is disrupted as a consequence of collective trauma? In this episode, Werner Bohleber addresses the theme of traumatic experiences and does so starting from the two main models around which psychoanalytic thought has sought to understand trauma: the freudian psycho-economic model and the object-relational model. Reflecting on what he so effectively defines as "the symbolic web that carries us", Bohleber considers the implications of man-made disasters, and those that befall our individual and collective memory. Werner Bohleber, Dr. phil, is a psychoanalyst in private practice in Frankfurt am Main. He is training analyst and former President of the German Psychoanalytical Association. He has long served on committees of the IPA, the last from 2009-2013 as Chair of the IPA Committee on Conceptual Integration. From 1997 to 2017 he was main editor of the journal PSYCHE. His research subjects and main publication themes are: late adolescence and young adulthood; psychoanalytic theory; transgenerational consequences of the Nazi period and the war on the second and third generation; nationalism, terrorism, anti-Semitism; trauma research. In 2007, he was awarded the Mary S. Sigourney Award for his diverse contributions, especially those relating to the traumatic aftermath of the Holocaust, National Socialism, and World War II. link to the paper https://docs.google.com/document/d/18yMyiZ6darmN6ouxVoQmUwlci44UCnCQ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=112457875385152358388&rtpof=true&sd=true this episode is available also in German Bibliography Allen, J. “Believe in yourself and invest in yourself. Because you are gonna feel great if you follow the program… Believe in yourself and trust the process. And if you believe in yourself, others will believe in you.” - Gordon Heron Welcome to The Fit Vegan Podcast, I'm your host, Luckie Sigouin! Today, I welcome Gordon Heron to talk about his incredible transformation after joining The Fit Vegan Blueprint, his fears when joining, the most surprising lessons learned, and his experience. Gordon Heron is a self-described addict of health and wellness. After joining The 21-Day Challenge, and enjoying it, he sought out more intense challenges that could keep him on his feet. He happened to win Luckie's birthday giveaway last June and got to join The Fit Vegan Blueprint program full time. In just 4 months, Gordan has lost 26 pounds and has reduced 5.2% of his body fat going from 16% to 10.8% all while thriving and not feeling restricted on his meal plan, keeping up with his busy life of work, and being a dad. His goal is to get lean and build himself back, much stronger through a healthy vegan diet and exercise. In this episode, we cover [00:01 - 09:54] Gordon's Transformation and Fighting Hereditary Heart Disease [09:55 - 17:40] Gordon's Inhibitions, Fears, and Experience with the Program [17:41 - 32:21] Value and Lessons Learned: Discipline Equals Freedom [32:22 - 42:45] If You're On The Fence, Here's Why You Should Join The Program [42:46 - 45:51] Closing Segment and Final Words of Wisdom Key Quotes “The difficulty that I face if I aim for perfection is that you're never going to achieve perfection all the time. So then all of a sudden, your mind thinks you failed. So actually, it's not going to be so much of a problem if you don't work quite as hard the next time. So I think the fact that [the program] is structured in a way that there are lots of small wins, and you're not shooting for the moon straight away, but you're doing it in stages is very methodical and organized.” - Gordon Heron “The biggest difference is the focus that [the program] has given me. I'm so focused on the workouts, I'm focused on the plan, and focused on the end goal.” - Gordon Heron “I'm trying to improve myself so that I'm a better person for my family first, and then my friends.” - Gordon Heron About me My name is Luckie Sigouin; I am the founder of Fit Vegan Coaching and the Fit Vegan Blueprint program's creator. But how many times have we thought about… who am I sexually? So, how do we go about claiming our own sexuality in ways that hold authenticity and internal authority? What sexual values do we hold – not just from our religious culture – but from the space of pleasure, consent, vulnerability, erotic experience, etc.? And then… how do we communicate these sexual spaces with our partners – especially when sexual tastes and preferences differ? Martin Schmidt chaired by Jonathan Burke The terrible loss of his friends, daughter and beloved grandson together with the relentless onslaught of his own cancer had a huge impact not only on Freud's mood but also his writing. This change in direction reflected a darker, sombre tone in his prose. He started to use the language of death and destructiveness rather than pleasure seeking to explain the aetiology of anxiety, aggression and guilt. From the detection of his illness until his death, he remained prolific, publishing over forty significant papers and major works including The Ego and the Id (1923b), Inhibitions, Symptoms and Anxiety (1926d), The Future of an Illusion (1927c), Civilization and its Discontents (1930a) and Moses and Monotheism (1939). This talk, based on Martin's chapter in The Topic of Cancer (2013, Ed. Jonathan Burke. Karnac, London), explores Freud's final years and the dynamics at work in his writing. Martin Schmidt MBPsS, is a Jungian analyst (Training Analyst of the Society of Analytical Psychology, London) psychologist and lecturer on the post-graduate arts therapies programmes at the Universities of Roehampton and Hertfordshire. He is in private practice in London and teaches widely both in the UK and abroad. His paper Psychic Skin: psychotic defences, borderline process and delusions (Feb 2012, Vol 57, no 1) won the Fordham prize for best clinical paper in the Journal of Analytical Psychology in 2012 and was nominated for the Gradiva award by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis, New York in 2013. His most recent publication is a chapter entitled Freud's Cancer in The Topic of Cancer (Ed. J Burke, Karnac:2013). For over seven years, he has been a visiting supervisor/lecturer on the International Association of Analytical Psychology (IAAP) Russian Revival programme for the first trainee Jungian analysts in Moscow and St Petersburg. He is currently the IAAP liaison person for Serbia and provides support, teaching and supervision for Jungian analysts and trainees in Serbia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
