[10x10] We did it! Vampire Videos has reached 100 episodes (ahem, +15 bonus specials), and it's time to mark this impressive milestone with a super-sized special. Do you have ~4 hours to get through this episode in one sitting? If not, don't worry, there are approximate time stamps if you want to jump around a bit... (00:02:26) INTRODUCTION Dan and Hugh reflect on 31 months of making Vampire Videos together, including a funny insight into the Discord message that started the ball rolling in March 2022. We also read listener messages about reaching 100 episodes, with many more interspersed between the other segments. (00:28:57) NOSFERATU (2024) Our Bite Club time-limited exclusive from January 2025 is now available for everyone to listen to, so you can finally hear us discuss Robert Eggers' Nosferatu remake with returning guest Chris Brosnahan. (01:51:27) GUEST ROUNDTABLE Dan and Hugh hosted a Zoom chat with our three most prolific guests - Mary Muñoz, Tony Black, and Dee Molumby. We discussed the show, spoke about our personal experiences being involved, shared a few memorable recording moments, reflected on some of the awful films we had to endure, gave our thoughts on modern vampire media in general, and… revealed our faces for the first time. That's right, Dan and Hugh finally clap eyes on each other after two years. (02:39:19) TOP 100 VAMPIRE FILMS We've been counting down the Top 100 films and TV shows we've covered on social media in the run-up to this episode. But now you can hear our thoughts on the scummy dreck that didn't even make the Top 100 chart... before we unveil our Top 20 Vampire Films.  (03:38:39) FANGED FUTURE  A short wrap-up with some amusing facts and stats about the show (like our “stake to live” ratio so far), and end with a tease of what the future holds for the next hundred episodes. That's if we make it that far! Hosts: Dan Owen & Hugh McStay Guests: Chris Brosnahan, Tony Black, Dee Molumby & Mary Muñoz. Editors: Dan Owen & Hugh McStay Thanks to every familiar who made the time to send us a message: Kathleen from Nova Scotia, Andrew Saturley, Paul Wood, Colin Woodward, Darren Gray, Chris Evans, Carmelita Valdez McKoy, Hayden Orr, James Duffy, Frankie Pellatt, Kat Hughes, Darren Mooney, Stacey Abbott & Count Caliban. The Pod and the Pendulum

After the dramatic reveal at the end of SAW IV, it's now Detective Hoffman's world and we're just living in it. Mike, Ari, Nichole and DeVaughn are joined again by Kat Hughes of Ghouls Magazine to talk abut the midpoint in the SAW franchise. The fifth entry is typically where things go off the rails (Roy the ambulance driver, the Man in Black, demon baby Freddy) for franchises, will SAW V fall into the same “trap”? We're taking about how Hoffman runs a game as opposed to Jigsaw, and the wary relationship between the two frenemies. Plus, we commend the series for leaning into its thesis statement: “all law enforcement officials are idiots” as evidenced by Agent Strahm's baffling decisions and exterior monologue we get to enjoy through the movie. We talk about the fantastic traps, the not-so-great retconning that's going on, and we stan for Jill Tuck. All this and more, this week with SAW V.

Is the British film industry terrible, or just very self-aware? This week, we dive into a pair of gruesome meta horrors from the United Kingdom. Scream of the Wolf (United Kingdom, 2022) is a throwback splatterfest combining old Hammer tropes, filmmaking stereotypes and a very hungry werewolf. Stalker (United Kingdom, 2022) locks a vain actress in a dingy elevator with her stalker, but is there a twist? Pop Screen doesn't cover much metal, and a cynical listener might counter that we're not about to start now, as we look at the 2019 Netflix film The Dirt. A biopic of Motley Crue, it offers a visceral look at sex, drugs and rock and roll, but maybe not enough into why hair metal (the stuff Americans heretically call "glam rock") remains so divisive. To address this and so many other questions, Graham is joined by Kat from The Hollywood News to talk about their mutual soft spot for the much-maligned rock biopic genre, our feelings on the Crue and the grunge scene that essentially ended their career, and how well the film handles its many darker strands. We are gentler on Machine Gun Kelly than you might think, though there's a good Eminem diss if that's your thing. If you want to give us a slice of your pie, you can donate to our Patreon where all sorts of things are going on - Graham is winding down his Doctor Who reviews and starting on The X-Files, Rob is championing Asian films that don't have UK distribution, our TV and film miscellany podcast Last Night... goes from strength to strength... oh yeah, and there's an exclusive episode of this show coming out tomorrow, about Rudy Wurlitzer and Robert Frank's rock road trip movie Candy Mountain. The meeting of minds is back! This week, Ross is hosting his own head to head episode against Andy, with guest judging duties from returning horror maestro Kat Hughes! And of course, it wouldn't be a halloween month episode with doing an episode on HALLOWEEN! And seeing as Halloween Ends is out on the day of release, we thought it would be rude not to be pitching our own versions, so we've reviewed and are pitching our sequels to the 2021 horror sequelboot sequel to 2018's Halloween, Halloween Kills! Directed by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Gordon_Green (David Gordon Green) and written by Green along with, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_McBride (Danny McBride), Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier. And of course, starring the absolute legendary scream queen herself, Jamie Lee Curtis. Expect just... insanity. Really. It's mad. So much death. Crikey. I have been writing about movies for the last eight years, mainly writing for the entertainment website THN. Although happy to cover a range of projects and genres my heart lies with the horror genre, with FrightFest being a highlight of her calendar year. Growing up film was an integral part of my life, and as a child, I watched Labyrinth, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and Aliens on repeat. This passion for movies led me to study Media Production at The University of Lincoln where I produced several short films on very limited student budgets. My career has seen me transition from Blockbusters and Cineworld, to time working for both Lionsgate and eOne. Having had a child in 2018, I am now committed to focusing on writing full-time. https://twitter.com/GizmoShikari (@GizmoShikari on Twitter) https://www.thehollywoodnews.com/author/katherine-smith/ (Kat's Website) Links!
