941: LEADERSHIP TIPS: Consistency is Your Leadership Superpower

The Shameless Mom Academy

Play Episode Listen Later May 27, 2025 26:48

Consistency is pretty boring. It might be the least glamorous component of leadership.  This is probably why it tends to be an underrated leadership superpower. However, consistency is a key ingredient to leadership success, primarily because it allows you to create compounding interest. Your tiny gains over time build up to massive outcomes.  Consistency also thwarts perfectionism. Showing up repeatedly becomes more important than showing up perfectly. This consistent showing up creates growth that casts perfectionism to the side, as it's no longer needed as a tool for success. You start to realize that success is much more about showing up, getting it done, and building momentum on an ongoing basis.  What if small, repeated actions became the backbone of sustainable success in both your personal growth and leadership? For example…  For the last 27 years, I've worked out 6 days a week. That's about 7,776 workouts. Most of them have been pretty average, mid-level efforts. A lot of them have been just going through the motions. Every now and then, there is a really amazing one. The impact has been massive on my mental and physical health. I have no doubt that I have added years to my life. For the last 9 years, I have released 1-2 podcasts a week, depending on our production schedule. That's 940 podcast episodes. Some have been fantastic, even noteworthy. Many have been valuable and helpful to my audience, but not necessarily earth-shattering. The impact on my business and credibility as a thought leader, speaker, and coach has been invaluable.  Consistency creates scaffolding in your life and leadership. By developing reliable habits, you reduce decision fatigue, lessen your mental load, and streamline internal negotiations. When you're consistent, you become a person who gets things done, who finishes what you start, and who builds trust in yourself. That identity shift, from someone who dabbles to someone who delivers, is transformational. Consistency also strengthens your leadership reputation. Leaders known for their follow-through and reliability foster trust, credibility, and psychological safety for their teams.  Showing up again and again says to the world, “I'm here, I belong here, and I'm not going anywhere.” This episode will inspire you to lean into consistency as a courageous act of leadership and self-trust. Episode Highlights: 00:00 The Power of Consistency in Leadership 05:09 Powerful Examples of the Payoffs of Consistency 10:12 Building Relationships Through Consistency 15:17 Consistency as a Tool to Build a Stronger Personal Identity and Leadership Identity 20:44 The Impact of Consistency on Trust and Visibility Links Mentioned: Book: Atomic Habits by James Clear Book: Finish by Jon Acuff Book: Soundtracks by Jon Acuff Hire me to speak: saradean.com/speaking Coach with me: https://saradean.com/executive-coaching-services Connect with me on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/saradeanspeaks Interested in becoming a sponsor of the Shameless Mom Academy? Hey, Tribesmen—Episode 61 is here, and this one is for every man who's tired of burning out and ready to build a life that works. I sat down with Ari Meisel, creator of The Replaceable Founder and author of Less Doing, and his story is exactly what we need right now. Ari went from battling a chronic disease that nearly shut his life down to helping entrepreneurs reclaim their time, energy, and purpose. His approach to productivity isn't just about doing less—it's about becoming more. More present. More effective. More in control. If you've ever felt like your business owns you, like your calendar is running your life, or like you're constantly stuck in “busy mode”… this episode will shift something inside you. What You'll Learn: The Crohn's diagnosis that forced Ari to rethink everything—and launched his framework for true freedom How to stop being the bottleneck in your business (and finally start growing again) The difference between doing less and being lazy—and why letting go is real leadership The three-step system: Optimize → Automate → Outsource—and how it changes everything How Ari runs a family of 7, volunteers, and still stays grounded in Torah values What productivity really means when you're leading a family and a business Why being replaceable is a badge of honor—not a weakness What holds most men back from being productive (hint: it's not your schedule—it's your mindset) Key Takeaways for the Tribe: ✅ Let Go to Lead Stronger True leadership isn't doing everything yourself. It's empowering others and building systems that last. ✅ Freedom Is the Goal Not just freedom from your business—but freedom to live, grow, and lead with clarity. ✅ Optimize First, Always Before outsourcing or automating anything, get clear. Simplicity beats speed. ✅ Your Calendar Reflects Your Heart If you're not scheduling what matters—faith, family, growth—it's time to make a change. ✅ The Mind Is the First System Your thoughts shape your productivity. Fix what's in your head, and the rest will follow. Show Notes: Introduction (00:00): Welcoming Ari Meisel to the show and how this episode came together. The Wake-Up Call (01:14): How a Crohn's diagnosis and health crisis launched Ari into a journey of optimization. Productivity Framework (03:09): The three-step system that changed his life: Optimize → Automate → Outsource. Leadership & Identity (10:08): Why many founders are addicted to being busy—and how to build a business that thrives without you. Replaceable ≠ Disposable (12:00): Ari's view on what true leadership means and why it requires letting go. Systems for Family (15:00): How Ari applies productivity at home with five kids, volunteer work, and faith at the center. Practical Tools (18:00): From AI to Amazon Subscribe & Save—how to stop wasting time and start owning it. Business Coaching & Clarity (19:46): How Ari works with entrepreneurs to remove bottlenecks and build effective teams. The Real Reason You're Not Productive (22:01): Why your mindset is the first system you need to fix. Final Words (28:00): Why productivity isn't about doing more—it's about becoming more of who you're meant to be.     This episode isn't just for entrepreneurs. It's for every man who wants to stop surviving and start building something that lasts—without losing himself in the process. Stay strong, stay disciplined, Yigal P.S. If this hit home, take one step today. Go to lessdoing.com, check out Ari's tools, or just start tracking your day. One change can start the shift.

SEASON 10 The Learning Leader Daily Leadership Tips and Discussions Thank you for listening. I'm Paul Grau Jr., the host of this show, and I'm excited about Season 10 and hitting the ground running in 2025. We have over 100 episodes in Season 10, and we will continue with the focus of “The Learning Leader” and/or as we refer to it here at The CLC Team, “The Expanding Leader. Every episode will primarily focus on the lifelong journey of expanding your knowledge of leadership, and I will try to give you a daily takeaway to put what you learn into action. My goal is that you learn something that you can take immediate action on, and see how powerful expanding your leadership can be.   Happy New Year!! Today is another step to Success Tip #1 for all leaders. Please do these steps in order as they will build on each other… its important to build a strong foundation.   Grab the book The Art of Influence: Persuading Others Begins With You by Chris Widener. I highly recommend this book for you and your team to go through together and to talk about every paragraph because there are leadership lessons on every page! The Art of Influence: Persuading Others Begins With You:   https://amzn.to/3VCfmNF   Here are links to some books I've mentioned in various episodes. If it's listed, I highly recommend it! BTW, These make great Christmas stocking stuffers for the leaders in your life!!   “How To Win Friends & Influence People,” by Dale Carnegie https://amzn.to/3AJ7q69 “Getting To YES, Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In,” by Roger Fisher & William Ury https://amzn.to/4fptLET “Positive Intelligence: Why only 20% of teams and individuals achieve their true potential and How You Can Achieve Yours”  https://amzn.to/4ekoltz A Great Book on Self Talk: “What to Say When You Talk to Yourself'” by Shad Helmstetter, https://amzn.to/47rO3uu “High Road Leadership: Bringing people together in a world that divides.” By John C, Maxwell, https://amzn.to/4cWxury **To learn more about how Paul can walk you and your team through a 12-week High Road Leadership Mastermind, contact him at Paul@CLCTeam.com and put “High Road Leadership” in the subject block.   MORE Books below.  Have you ever wondered why it's so difficult for a group of leaders to norm or be consistent? Well, it's because every leader is unique and has their own style and way of leading their team. By coming together and forming a bond in your organizations leadership team, you can begin norming better than ever before. I use the DISC assessment with every client and team I work with and have found it to be a real game-changer for the entire team. This is certainly no different when you have a group of leaders together. In order for them to work together in unison, they have to begin by knowing each other very well. That's where the DISC comes in, so I will mix the DISC behavioral styles in throughout this series. I am a DISC Certified Trainer and Consultant and have worked with behavioral styles for over 20 years. I am certified through the John Maxwell Leadership Team and have worked with hundreds of teams.
