Mark got started selling a variety of products online, but really got into the swing of things when he started selling software.  However, it was more than just launching 12 to 14 software products that made him successful.  He and his partner, Matt Callen, both figured out the product launch formula extremely well to make sure their Digital Kickstart brand did well. Mark and Matt could continue to launch more software products, but they created PayKickStart and see the big potential that it has.  As a result, they are focusing their energy and attention on this flag ship product and doing everything they can to grow it.

Using Google AdWords to Attract Design Clients - RD123

Resourceful Designer

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 1, 2018 43:05

Using Google AdWords to Attract Design Clients Any time designers get together in person or online on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn or Reddit, you’re sure to hear someone ask how to attract more clients. It’s one of, if not the most significant problem faced by designers. Without clients, your business fails. It doesn’t matter how good a designer you are if you don’t have people paying for your services your business will not survive. There are many ways you can attract new clients. Last week I shared 12 inexpensive ways for you to promote your design business. A couple of years ago I wrote a blog post where I shared 10 proven ways to attract design clients. All methods I’ve used myself to gain clients. Today I want to talk about a great way to attract clients that for some reason, not many graphic designers or web designers are taking advantage of. Google AdWords. How do clients find you? Ask most designers, and they will tell you the number one way they gain new clients is through word of mouth referrals. Referrals are great. But what if you don’t have a large catalogue of clients advocating for your business? Let's look at it from a client's perspective. Let's say you need a plumber. Who will you call? Your first choice would be to call a plumber you know, or at least one you've heard of before. Your Second choice would be to ask family, friends, co-workers and associates who they would recommend. That’s the referral part. If it doesn’t work, you would probably turn to a search engine and look for plumbers in your area. Design clients do the same thing. They contact a designer they know or have heard of before. That’s where brand awareness comes in. Second, they ask family, friends, colleagues, associates etc. That’s where referrals come in. But when that fails, clients will turn to the internet and search for a designer online. And chances are they will formulate their search to look for someone in their local area. That last part is a huge benefit for you, especially if you are using Google AdWords to get in front of them. If you’re already familiar with how AdWords works, you’re probably nodding your head right now in agreement with me, but I’m going to continue with the assumption that you are not familiar with Google AdWords. Forgive me if I'm wrong. For the record, Yahoo and Bing also have similar advertising platforms, but since the majority of people use Google, I’m going to concentrate on it. So how does Google AdWords work for attracting design clients? Let me break it down into the simplest terms using only three steps, You figure out what keywords people are searching. You create an ad that Google puts in front of people actively searching for those keywords. You pay Google for the people that click on your ads. That’s all there is to it. The best part about Google AdWords is you only pay when your ads are working, and people engage with them. If they don't click, you don't pay. Now of course, “when your ads are working” is a relative term. In this case, it means when people click on your ad. Whether or not they become a client after clicking on your ad is not Google’s concern. A deeper dive into AdWords. I won't go into the technical nitty gritty of setting up a successful AdWords campaign. There are plenty of other resources where you can learn the ins and outs of fine-tuning your ad campaign to get the most bang for your buck. I will, however, elaborate on the three steps I mentioned above. Create an AdWords Account The first step is creating a free AdWords account and telling Google how to charge you for your ads. They have to make their money after all. Once your account set up, you can create your first ad campaign by choosing the type of ads you want to run. There are several options, but in my opinion Search Ads are the best ones for attracting new design clients. Next, you select the campaign type. I suggest you choose website traffic and don’t include Google Search Partners or the Ad Display Network. Both are good for driving traffic to a product or resource, but your goal is to attract clients. Set up the delivery What makes Google AdWords such a valuable marketing tool is the ability to pick the geographic location where your ads will appear. If you live in Cleaveland Ohio, you can set up your campaign so that only people in Cleaveland will see it. There are several reasons to limit your search to particular geographic regions. Top among them is the amount of competition you face the broader your target area. If you set your campaign to all of the USA you are competing with every other designer across the whole country. It is possible to win in that scenario, but since a kind of bidding/auction system is used to determine ad placement, it could get costly. Of course, there's a lot more to the whole thing that I'm not getting into which is why I suggest you take an AdWords course before starting. But basically, targetting an entire country is just too difficult for someone just starting out. By narrowing down your geographic area, you are narrowing down who you are competing with and the effort required to get your ads in front of potential clients. Set your budget You need to set a budget for your ad campaign. It can be as high or as low as you want. There are several options for choosing how to invest your money in your campaign. What I suggest is using the standard delivery method since it gives you better analytical data on your ads. For the bidding method. I suggest Clicks over Views. With Clicks, you only pay when someone clicks on your ad whereas with Views you get charged every time your ad is displayed regardless of whether or not someone interacts with it. The final part of setting your budget is choosing a start and end dates of your campaign. I suggest starting out with short campaigns until you get the hang of it. Choose your keywords. Choosing keywords is the fun part. You get to decide what keywords you want to target with your ads. These are the words you think people will type into the search engine to find you. Start off with common sense terms like; web design website design web designer logo design logo designer etc. You can narrow down your keywords even further by adding a location such as "web designer Cleveland." Choosing keywords is easy, choosing the right keywords is a bit more tricky. Targetting "website designer" may bring you a lot more traffic than "web designer" or vice versa. There are tools to research what keywords are more popular than others, or how often specific keywords are searched. Google’s Keyword Planner is a popular free one. I use software called Long Tail Pro for my keyword research. Create your ads Finally, you need to create your ads. There is an option to create banner style ads, but for finding design clients, all you need is standard search results ads. These show up as the first few listings when you do a Google search. They have a small [Ad] next to them. Then it's just a matter of choosing the right title and wording to attract clients to your site, launching your campaign and waiting for clients to come calling. How to get the most out of Google AdWords. Google AdWords is very easy to learn. However, there is a learning curve if you want to get good at it and not end up wasting money. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your AdWords campaign. 1) Build landing pages. AdWords campaigns work best when linked to a dedicated landing page and not your home page. Google give each ad a rank that helps determine it's placement (along with other factors) vs the competition. The page your ad is linked to plays a significant factor in your ad rank score. If your ad is for logo design. Make sure it’s linked to a landing page that is just about logo design. 2) Study what your competitors are doing Figure out what keywords your competitors are targeting and what ads they are displaying and try and outdo them. Keyword tools like the one by Google can help you figure out the best keywords to target, but they also allow you to enter a competitor’s URL and see what keywords they are targetting. 3) Split test Google AdWords is not a set it and forget it system. You should study the performance of your ads and adjust things on the go. If you are getting a lot of traction with the keyword “web design” but not much with “website design” then you should adjust your campaign to push more of your budget towards the keyword that is performing better. Split testing ads for a single keyword also works well in figuring out which ad copy is earning more clicks. 4) Link your Google AdWords and Google Analytics Accounts. AdWords has some excellent tracking info, but it only tells you what happened with your ad up until the point it is clicked. By linking your Google Analytics account to your AdWords account, you can follow along and see what happens after your ad is clicked. 5) Start small and grow as you get more comfortable creating ad campaigns. Although AdWords is easy to learn, there are a lot of things that influence the success or failure of an ad campaign. Until you are comfortable, I suggest setting short campaigns and starting with a low budget until you learn the nuances of the platform. "Hacking" Google AdWords I mentioned above that one of the best things about Google AdWords is the ability to target geographic areas because it narrows down the competition. But what if you live in a large metropolitan area with lots of competition? In my example, I used Cleveland Ohio. Let's say there's a lot of competition for web designers in Cleveland and the cost of running your AdWords campaign is getting high. Nothing is stopping you from targeting other areas instead. There are plenty of smaller areas around Cleveland that you could target. Places like Bedford Heights, Euclid, Olmstead Falls, and others. Nothing is stopping you from choosing keywords targetting those smaller communities. Chances are the competition will be much lower so your budget will go much farther and clients there shouldn't be opposed to working with a web designer in Cleveland. And the best part is if it doesn’t work out and nobody clicks on your ads, it doesn’t cost you a cent. Give Google AdWords at try So many designers are struggling to find design clients, and yet this inexpensive way to target exactly the people you want to work with is at your disposal. It doesn't matter where in the world you are; Google AdWords can help you attract design clients because it's putting your ads directly in front of the people actively looking for your services. If you are not already taking advantage of search engine advertising, I highly suggest you look into it soon. What is your experience with online advertising to attract design clients? On the show today is somebody who is really a big name in the ecommerce and online training for the ecommerce world, Steve Chou from MyWifeQuitHerJob.com. Today he will be teaching us how to get started with ecommerce off Amazon. Steve’s Story Steve and his wife started as consumers looking for a product (custom wedding handkerchiefs) that they couldn’t find, so they created it themselves. However, they had to order over 100 from the manufacturer, and they only needed 6, so they sold the rest on eBay. A few years later, in 2007, they got pregnant and wanted one of them to stay home. But living in Silicon Valley they needed two incomes to live, so they started looking for ways to replace her 6-figure income. They remembered their success selling handkerchiefs on eBay, and started there. In their first year of ecommerce, they made 100K in profit. Steve’s wife quit her job and the rest, as they say, is history! These days, their online store Bumble Bee Linens is still going strong. They’ve both quit their jobs. Steve teaches others how to get started with ecommerce. Ten years on, Steve has some tips for people to get started with ecommerce today. Get Started with Amazon Start with Amazon. It’s the easiest option because there’s a built-in marketplace where customers are already looking to buy. In comparison, eBay is more difficult to use and the customers are more likely to complain and not willing to pay as much. However, you can use eBay to minimise your risk. It’s like a safety balance: if it’s selling on eBay then you know you will be able to liquidate it if for some reason it doesn’t sell on Amazon. Steve mostly recommends starting with private label. Creating a unique product has more long term benefits. Retail arbitrage isn’t so good because it’s not scalable and won’t be sustainable in the long run (5 - 10 years). However, it can be good for certain personalities that are too nervous to go straight into private label. It is more temporary but it gives people the confidence to get started. The Minimum Investment to Get Started with eCommerce The minimum amount you’re going to need to get started in private label is $1000 but preferably $2000. Be aware that when your budget is very low you are limited to some of the cheaper products. If you do need to get started really cheap, go the AliExpress route. You won't necessarily make a profit, but just break even and validate that something will sell. As for advertising, you will need to set aside money for that as well. It will take you a little while to get profitable, but to get to the profitable point it depends on what you’re trying to sell and how competitive it is. Tips, Tricks, and Tools to get Started with eCommerce Steve uses Jungle Scout, Long Tail Pro, and Terapeak. Jungle Scout web app is a great tool but if everyone else is using that too then everyone comes up with the same products or similar products. In an ideal world, you don’t rely on that but some people get stuck and need ideas, so it’s great for students just starting out. One way to start is to find something good on Jungle Scout then use Terapeak to make sure that it’s selling on eBay. Look for the sell-through rate on Terapeak (the number that specifies the percentage chance of an item selling once it’s been listed) to be over 33%. This provides confidence because if you know going in that you have a way to minimise your losses and liquidate your inventory to cash it removes a big mental barrier to entry for private label selling. Terapeak also cultivates and categorises the completed listings, including what’s hot. You can perhaps find something there because eBay and Amazon are different marketplaces. Steve also uses Long Tail Pro to help find out what people are searching for on Google. You can use it to determine how viable a niche is in terms of a search for your own website. When picking a product to sell, determine how competitive it is in the website landscape because they...

Pinterest665 Facebook 0 Twitter 0 LinkedIn WhatsApp 665Shares How to research Keyword for Blog Posts? Welcome to another episode of the DKSpeaks Podcast. In continuation with what we discussed in the last episode, on long tail keyword research, in this episode we will be discussing “how to research keywords for blog posts”. I was so confused with this entire thing that, whenever I read a blog post on one of the well know blogs, I would often check on the keywords that they could have possibly used for that specific post. While 90% of the time, I ended up with just one conclusion – none of these posts targeted a specific keyword and there was no real keyword research on most of these posts. Most of these posts still ranked on the first page of google for a lot of the keywords related to the topic that the post was on. The one reason I could think of, could be the brand value that these blogs carried. They were authority sites and Google might just have felt that it made sense showing them on the first page of the search results for most keywords on that specific topic. Nevertheless, keyword research has its own advantages and I would always recommend doing thorough keyword research when you plan on writing your blog posts. Let us look at how to research keywords for blog posts. How to Research Keywords for Blog Posts In this episode, I am going to show you a very simple way of researching keywords for blog posts. I would be using researching tools that are free to use. This concept follows a simple principle. We are going to pick up keywords that might not have a lot of search volume. Instead we will pick keywords that have moderate search volumes around 500 or, more per month. With these keywords you will be able to rank on the first page of Google pretty easily. And when you have many such articles targeting keywords that have 500 or, so searches per month, cumulatively you will get a lot of traffic to your blog. Here is what we will be discussing in this episode – * How is researching keywords for blog posts different from that of keyword research in PPC campaigns?* 2 simple approaches on how to research keywords for blog posts* The free tools that I use for the keyword research* How to find blog post ideas Resources mentioned in this episode Here are the resources that we used in researching keywords, in this episode – * KeywordTool.io* Google Keyword Planner* Long Tail Pro (Paid Tool) I have used only the first 2 tools in the steps that we saw in this episode. But if you want to cut the hard work and save a lot of time, you can go for the paid tool, Long Tail Pro. Though it is a little costly, it is worth the money. Thank You for Joining I wanted to thank you all for joining me in today’s episode. What do you think about the tips that we spoke about in this episode? Pinterest549 Facebook 0 Twitter 0 LinkedIn WhatsApp 549Shares How do you do Long tail keyword Research? Keyword Research is one of the most misguided aspects in internet marketing. There are a hundred different methods and theories out there that tells you how to do keyword research. But most guides and theories out there complicate keyword research to such an extent that it is highly unlikely that you wouldn’t get confused with the entire thing. In fact, Keyword research used to be extremely overwhelming for me as well and I would spend hours researching keywords with no real results. I had also spent a lot of money on the latest keyword research tool, all of which would be marketed as the next best thing, but would eventually turn out to be nothing more than crap. Of everything in keyword research, long tail keyword research used to be the most mis-interpreted and consequently the most confusing concept. And if you are to do a long tail keyword research for the next post you are going to write, then you are sure to spend the next few hours trying to figure it out and end up losing all the time that you could otherwise have used on writing your blog post. So how do you do long tail keyword research? In this episode, I am going to show you a simple step by step method that I follow to research long tail keywords so that you don’t spend hours doing something that shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. How to do Long Tail Keyword Research I follow a very simple technique to research long tail keywords. And this technique doesn’t take more than 30 minutes. This might not be a technique that a lot of the experts might be using, but this technique yields results. And since it follows the basic concepts, there is no reason why it would go wrong. In this episode we will be discussing – * Why long tail keyword research is important? * What are “seed keywords” and where is it used? * Why you wouldn’t need expensive software to research your keywords? * A few simple techniques to generate proven long tail keywords with high search volume and low competition * How does Google’s autocomplete feature help you in your keyword research? Resources mentioned in this episode Here are the resources mentioned in this episode – * KeywordTool.io * Google Keyword Planner * Long Tail Pro While I do not recommend buying any expensive softwares for keyword research, Long Tail Pro is something that you would want to go with, if you want to save some time. The method that I discuss in the episode is a manual process and takes about 30 minutes. But this very same process takes less than 5 minutes on Long Tail Pro. Thank You for Joining So how do you do your long tail keyword research? Did you find the steps that I mentioned in this episode, easier that all the other methods that you have heard off? This is his first time at the event. He is going to do an inptomptu session on "Understanding the Podcast Puzzle" (Awesome supporters got to see this presentation). Dave metnioneed www.tweetjukebox.com 8:55 Blubrry Announces Wordpress Hosting Mike provides a quick update. 10:25 Paying for Advertising to Promote Your Show Mike from the 2980 Network wants to know if Facebook, Google, or other networks is better. Dave has been hearing about all the great things you can do with targeting on Facebook to really get to your target audience. No matter what service you use, be careful and have a specific action you want people to take (as it can get expensive pretty quick). Jim's business uses Google Ad Words. 17:15 Crowdfire Targeted Twitter Tool Mike explains a tool to follow people who are potentially like you and then later you can do some automatic follows. Its more of a target follow than a blanket follow. Check it out at http://www.crowdfireapp.com/ If you use the $4.99 app it unlocks most of the limits. 23:05 Jim's New Co-host Mike is Jim's new co-host on his network. He lost one two the arch enemy of podcasting: babies. Jim is seeing more Omaha people now. 24:36 Facebook Ads is the Best Bang For the Buck Andy explains how to get the most from Facebook ads. Adny is using groups to engage with his potential audience. Long Tail Pro is a great tool for doing keyword research. Andy liked Dave's recommendation of the book Fizz. Dave's shares a story on how he got banned from a forum many moons ago. 30:20 Glenn The Geek Episode Andy really liked Glenn the Geek from Horse Radio Network on the episode of the School of Podcasting Glenn is making a living with his podcast without copying anyone, not worrying about CPM ads. It's a really refreshing look at podcasting. 33:35 A Great line from Paul Colligan Paul produces the Podcast Report, and he said, "Starting A Podcast To Hit iTunes “New And Notable” Is Like Launching A Business To Get Into The Phone Book. Great episode.  33:59 Why Doesn't Jim Coming to Conferences? Nick Seuberling wants to know why Jim doesn't go to podcast events. His schedule just hasn't lined up yet, but he is looking forward to Podcast Movement 2016. Jim is also not a fan of Vegas. 36:30 Please Don't Copy Other Podcasts - Dave's Mini Rant Come up with you own thing. Dave felt bad as someone invited him on his show, only to then do a watered down version of Entrepreneur on Fire. I was honored to be on the show, but I'm pretty sure I could've said anything, and the host would've just moved on to the next question. 38:55 Blab.im Chat Service We took a quick look, and it could be weird to have the public jumping in. When you have a live audience, you never know what you are going to get. It looks interesting and has more of a "Brady Bunch" effect than a Google hangout. Check it out at www.blab.im 43:00 Reaching Out To Your Audience Live. If you're worried about giving out your phone number you can use a Google Voice number which you can later use to block the person. Mike uses Skype out. You do have to be careful with the public. You might want to make sure your audience is aware of the boundaries. Blubrry has people acorss all of the major time zones. 47:50 Biggest Support Pains at BluBurry 1. iTunes Listings 2. Incredibly complex Wordpress installs. A solution might be to install Wordpress in a subdomain and keep it super simple (and embed the podcast on the main site). Jim used this strategy on the Average Guy website. Mike has done this with a few people. Nobody cares that its coming from a secondary site. When someone pushes play, the average listener doesn't look at the address to see where the files are located. 53:00 Plugins that Cause Problems Wishlist member causes issues that can be fixed. Yoast Wordpress SEO has caused problems in the past. PodPress is no longer listed in the directory. Dave made a video talking about bad advice called "Why you need a Podcast Consultant." Why you should be nervous about SoundCloud. 56:20 Adore Network on Spreaker Rob Greenlee is putting together a network on Spreaker called Adore

Pinterest0 Facebook 0 Twitter 0 LinkedIn WhatsApp 0Shares If you have signed up to email newsletters from any of the big internet marketers, I am sure you would have heard about the launch and the discounted offers on Long Tail Pro – a keyword research tool. There were a ton of emails floating around and pretty much everyone recommended this tool. In fact a lot of marketers use this tool. A few days before Long Tail Pro was re-launched, there was another keyword research tool that was launched – Niche Genetics, which pretty much did the same job as that of Long Tail Pro – but with a difference that Niche Genetics helped you find profitable Niche and Long Tail Pro helped you find long tail keywords. How is this different? I still remember buying the “Keyword Elite” software from Brad Callen for about $197, when it was released about 8 years back. Then I found Market Samurai and then Micro Niche Finder. I bought both of these and if you are asking why, then the answer is plain and simple. I was confused, overwhelmed and struggled with the entire activity of researching keywords with the first 2 softwares. While I got a refund for Market Samurai, I couldn’t do it for Keyword Elite because by the time I tested it, I was already out of the Money-Back guarantee period. Market Samurai is a great tool and a lot of marketers use it, but somehow I felt it was just not for me. I was really overwhelmed with the many filters and options in there. Finally I found Micro Niche Finder and this is the tool that I am using until today. Almost all of these softwares use the same source for their data – Google’s Keyword Tool. The only difference lies in how they present it with some analytics of their own, so that you know which keyword or, niche to go after. Over the years, as Google changed their Keywords tools to the Keyword Planner and restricted the data that was available, these softwares also changed. But still their source remains the same. So, the question is – Do you really need a paid software when Google Keyword Planner is FREE? Let’s take a closer look at Long Tail Pro – This software adds a few aspects to the research. The source of the data for Long Tail Pro is also the same. But it uses a confidence score to tell you how hard or, easy it will be to rank on the search engines for that specific keyword. In addition to that it also gives you some additional data in the form of Domain Authority, Page Authority, Moz Rank, Domain age, # of backlinks etc. all of which will help you evaluate and analyze your competition. If you were to do all of these individually, you would have spent a lot of time doing it. Same is the case with Micro Niche Finder. It uses a competitive measure called as SOC or, Strength of Competition to evaluate the competition. So, what these tools basically does, is that they speeden up the process of keyword research. You can save a lot of time if you use these tools. But do you really need them – You might not. If you know the basics of what to look for while researching a keyword or, a niche and you are ready to spend time doing that, then you can do that with the help of the Google Keyword Planner tool. Doing Keyword Research the Right Way! What is keyword research and how does it differ from niche research? These are 2 terms that are used as synonyms, a lot of times but in reality they differ. In fact keyword research is just one part of niche research. While keyword research involved researching keywords that people use to search for something, Niche research involves a lot of other things like profitability of the niche, demographics, ad costs, content research, market research etc. Niche research is the first thing you need to do as you plan for your business. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/dkspeaks/message

Today's question comes from Will, who asks about website startup costs. What does it take to get a new niche site up and running? Will is talking about my niche site, Security Guard Training (http://www.securityguardtraininghq.com/). For keyword research, I used LongTail Pro (http://askpat.com/longtailpro). Market Samurai is another keyword tool (http://www.marketsamurai.com/), as is the Google Adwords Keyword Planning (https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner). For domain hosting, I recommend Bluehost (http://askpat.com/bluehost). I used a free WordPress theme to start that. For email, I used Aweber (http://www.aweber.com/askpat). I used Elance for help with writing (http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/elance). Do you have a question about starting a niche site? Record it at http://www.askpat.com/. Spencer may be one of my new favorite bloggers because he admits that he doesn't have the all the answers and solutions upfront. I love it when someone shares their experiences, but doesn't profess to have the answers. It is refreshing in this marketing world of "5 Reasons you are horrible at life" and "3 Obvious things your life is missing to be full." Spencer, you have really helped me focus by just writing some of your experiences down. Thanks. Listen to the podcast--it is refreshing. --Spencer Haws is a family man who happens to love new ideas and businesses. Today we are joined by special guest co-host Ryan Park from FoodCraftsmen.com Sharing Your Podcast  You can choose to make your show available on other sites by enabling the embedding feature in the Powerpress plugin. Go to powerpress, settings, and under the media appearance tab there is a media links area where you can choose to make a show have an embed links. Now anyone in your audience can put this on their website. For me, it makes it easy to put on my blog and other sites. In the case of the Podcast Review Show, I can put it on the School of Podcasting site and not worry about it accidentally going down the feed of that show. Ryan found a great article about a new player that people may be using (I would want to test this to make sure it doesn't mess up your RSS feed). There is a neet plugin that works with the html 5 player call Time Jump that I want to investigate. An Affordable Solution For Podcast Gear As I'm still in the Amazon dog house, I was looking for ways to find affordable podcast gear. I have used Same Day Music in the past, and they have a new plan that allows you to make PAYMENTS on gear (typically two). So if you want to buy a mixer, but its $269 you can make two payments of $135.  They call this Speed Play. You make your purchase and have 60 days to pay it off - no interest. Best of all if you're not in New Jersey, they don't charge sales tax. Check them out at SamDayMusic.com (affiliate link). How Many Keywords in iTunes Identify and Use the Right Keywords Just like in traditional SEO, high visibility starts with an understanding of the keywords your target audience will be searching for. You can use your favorite keyword tool to get started. Additionally, you should spend time in the App Store and look at the most popular and successful apps. See what words they're using to promote their app. This will give you additional ideas on picking the right keywords. How Do You Find The Right Keywords? There are tools like Long Tail Pro and Market Samurai that I've heard Pat Flynn talk about. They are both good (I think Pat is using Long Tail Pro a bit more these days). You enter words that you feel people might enter to find your store and see which ones are more popular. You can type in your industry and see what terms people are talking about, and again are more popular. Then you can use these in future shows. In a way its not so much different than SEO for the web. Once you have a list of targeted keywords, you need to put them in the right places. First, start by using them in your show name (if it makes sense).  This works similarly to page titles for traditional SEO. Additionally, try to use your keywords in your name field.   Cool Wordpress Theme? I'm hoping Mike Howard is in the chat today as I want to talk to someone who is using the Avada Wordpress theme. This thing looks so cool, and is only $55 at ThemeForest.net Currently is the the #1 sellign theme on Themeforest. I'm hoping Mike Howard is in the chat today because he uses this. How to Quickly Find Long Tail Keywords for More Free Traffic Why long tail keywords? So, if you consistently publish new content, but you don’t really do any keyword research, you’re missing out on a lot of free traffic that you could get from just doing some simple long tail keyword research. You might know exactly what your audience wants in the way of content, but it’s really important to actually do some research and see what exact types of phrases your customers and prospects are typing into the search engines. If you will just spend an extra 5 or 10 minutes per piece of content that you publish doing some long tail keyword research like I’m going to show you in this post, over the next few weeks you will see a big increase in the amount of search engine traffic that you’re getting to your blog or website. I recommend you get Long Tail Pro since it’s much, much faster than the other tools out there. Long Tail Keyword Research Process When you are doing your long tail keyword research, I recommend that you find at least three relevant keyword phrases for every piece of content that you create. Overtime this will dramatically increase the amount of free traffic you get from the search engines versus not doing any keyword research at all. Step One: Fire Up Long Tail Pro Longtail Pro is my keyword research tool of choice since it lets you into her multiple seed keywords at one time. The platinum add-on gives you the average keyword competitiveness function, which is the only thing I look at now when deciding whether to optimize for a keyword phrase or not. This saves me the time from having to try to analyze the competitiveness based on 20 different factors and it’s very predictable and reliable. It will also save you a lot more time versus the other main keyword tools that are out there, because of the fact that the search itself and the returning of the keywords happens much more quickly than the other tools, and when combined with the fact that you can do all your seed keywords in one search it saves you a lot of time sitting there staring at your screen. Step Two: Setup Your Campaign Inside of longtail Pro, you simply entering your campaign name. This isn’t necessarily your main seed keyword although I can be, but the best thing is to just use a keyword or phrase or name don’t you remember, because once you have a lot of campaigns and set it won’t tell pro you want to be able to tell them apart. Step Three: Apply Filters When you’re looking for longtail keywords, the only filter that really matters is the minimum number of words. I always set this filter to at least four words. This will give you keyword phrases that are much easier to rank for. The more words in a phrase, in general it’s going to be easier to rank and get traffic for. If you’re creating content for a topic that is pretty competitive, and there’s a lot of content and websites and products out there already for it, there’s going to be a lot more relevant keywords available to you. So in cases like that I would suggest you set the minimum number of keywords to five or six or maybe even more. Step Four: Enter Your Seed Keywords Again, Long Tail Pro let you start with multiple seed keywords. So you should start out with more than one, just type in every keyword phrase related to your topic that you can think of. That way, you’ll get a lot more relevant keyword phrases to choose from. Step Five: Click “Generate Keywords” This step is pretty self-explanatory: you simply click on the big yellow button at the bottom of Long Tail Pro that says ‘generate keywords’. This should only take 60 seconds or so to return hundreds and hundreds of highly relevant keyword phrases. Step Six: Cherry Pick the Good Ones As you can see in the example below, this is a great keyword phrase for several reasons. First, it is a keyword phrase that has six words in the phrase. This will make it much easier to rank and get traffic for. It also has a very strong search volume of close to 1000 monthly exact searches. It also has an average keyword competitiveness of only 30. Like I said earlier, when you’re looking for longtail keywords, you want to see that the average keyword competitiveness is close to 30 or below. Step Seven: Pick a Few Really Easy Ones You always want to choose a few really low competition keywords when you’re doing long tail keyword research. Even if the monthly search volume is down around 100 exact monthly searches, these quickly add up as you optimize your different pieces of content. The other big benefit of optimizing all of your content for all of these longtail keywords, is that over time the more longtail traffic and keyword rankings that you get, the better your site and content will start doing in the search engines for higher competition keywords. This keyword phrase below is a great example of a very long tail keyword. It has five words in the keyword phrase, it has an average monthly exact search volume of around 100, and it has an average keyword competitiveness score of only 25. That’s it for this training, I hope you learned something that you can use in your own business to start finding and ranking for more long till keywords, which will send you a lot more free search engine traffic overtime. If you already have Market Samurai and it works for you, you don’t need Long Tail Pro. But if you don’t have a premium keyword research tool yet, I highly suggest you make the investment in Long Tail Pro… All the time it will save you and traffic it will result in will be well worth it.
