Through her multifaceted work, the Bulgarian-born, Brooklyn-based writer, reader, and researcher Maria Popova, founder of the “free, ad-free, A.I.-free, fully human” website and newsletter The Marginalian, braids together literature, science, philosophy, poetry, and art in beautiful, alchemical ways. Traversing centuries, she approaches various ideas and thinkers, living and dead, as active references in the expansive, ongoing project of learning what it means to be human. Now, nearly 20 years since the site's founding, she continues to cultivate a singular space on the internet—one devoted not so much to information but to illumination. Her latest book, Traversal, which links figures such as Mary Shelley and Walt Whitman, alongside other writers, poets, physicists, and philosophers, serves as an intellectual journey and an across-time meditation on creativity, consciousness, and interconnectedness. On this episode of Time Sensitive, Popova discusses the idea of “spiritual ancestors,” why today's A.I. debates are fundamentally modern versions of age-old questions about the soul, and the mystery of being alive. Send us Fan Mail This week on Talking Pondo, Clif and Marty welcome special guest Daniel Roebuck for “Talking Lemmon,” celebrating the career of the legendary Jack Lemmon.First up is How to Murder Your Wife, a wild 1960s comedy that finds a carefree bachelor waking up married and immediately questioning every decision that led him there. Clif, Marty, and Daniel discuss the film's energy, attitudes, and why Lemmon could make even the most ridiculous premise work. Then they move on to Save the Tiger, where a very different Jack Lemmon delivers one of the most powerful performances of his career. As a struggling businessman willing to cross every line to stay afloat, Lemmon anchors a dark portrait of a man trying to survive a rapidly changing world. Along the way: movie-star versus character-actor debates, lemonade sponsorship opportunities, punk rock movies, mysterious opening title cards, and the discovery that both films somehow begin with Jack Lemmon getting out of bed and heading for the shower.#TalkingPondo #JackLemmon #DanielRoebuck #FilmPodcast #HowToMurderYourWife #SaveTheTiger #ClassicCinema #MovieReview Support the showFind our films here:The Love Song of William H ShawRevenge of ZoeWriting Fren-ZeeMaking Pondo on FacebookX (formerly Twitter):@MakingPondoInstagramMaking Pondo on Letterboxd:Season OneSeason TwoSeason ThreeSeason FourTheme Song "The Rain" by Russ PacePhotos by Geoffrey Notkin

Architectural historian and seaside culture expert Dr. Kathryn Ferry stops by to celebrate Scarborough's 400th anniversary and answer the questions that matter - did King George III actually say "bugger Bognor"? Before the sun finally goes down on Changeling: the Lost's first edition, we've got one more text to talk about. What's that you say? We've gone through all the books and all the Dark Eras, so what could possibly be left? Well, as we prepared those final episodes, author Thomas McVey released Twilit Eildon, a homebrew title on the Storytellers' Vault. It was a surprise out of nowhere, especially because it was angled towards the first edition, so we felt it right and proper to give it a read. The book claims to delve into True Fae who might be less malevolent than expected, as well as the loyalists who support them, with asides on the topic of fae-blooded children and cyberspace. A bit incongruous? Perhaps. Still worth a read and a discussion? Naturally. We'll talk about whether our expectations are met and how much there really is/was left to say about this version of the Lost setting. Thomas' book is available for purchase at https://www.storytellersvault.com/en/product/554832?affiliate_id=3063731, and we are available for opinionated debate at the usual roundup of links: Discord: https://discord.me/ctp Email: podcast@changelingthepodcast.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100082973960699 Mastodon: https://dice.camp/@ChangelingPod Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/changelingthepodcast YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ChangelingThePodcast your hosts Pooka G (any pronoun/they) prefers the mouthfeel of the term gloaming for describing the end of the day. The monumental new track will feature an exclusive music video with never-before-seen clips of Seals and Coley together once again, honoring the duo's most popular tune. "Some songs seem to take on a life of their own," says John Ford Coley, adding, "the song 'I'd Really Love to See You Tonight' seems to be one of those iconic songs. Dan and I have not sung together since 1980, and it's interesting that the song that appears to have brought us back together was the one that launched our career as a duo. It never occurred to me that this song would still be as big today as it was 50years ago." "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" will appear on Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, releasing August 28.Coley still performs across the globe as a well-respected solo artist and has appeared with top musicians Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Lou Gramm, Stephen Bishop, and many more. Two days remain. For 12 years, I have continued placing small piano pieces into the world. Now, only two remain. Piano Ten Thousand Leaves will reach completion on May 16, 2026. Thank you for walking this long forest path with me. May 15, 2026 chair house / Hitoshi Yasui Tokyo, Japan ================================ when silence became love song - #4535 (99R98 percent 1 left) by chair house 260515 ================================ Thirteen years ago, I encountered a Virtual Piano Instruments. It was like a dream come true — software capable of recording fragile, delicate piano performances with astonishing beauty and clarity. At that moment, a vision came to me. To create short, peaceful inspiration-based piano pieces every single day, and continue sharing them with the world. I had always loved the traditional Japanese Manyoshu anthology. And I began to wonder if it might be possible to create a new kind of Manyoshu for the internet age. I named the project: Piano Ten Thousand Leaves. The goal was 4,536 pieces. And so, on February 2nd, 2014, I uploaded the very first piece to soundcloud. Over the years, many things happened, but thankfully, the project continued steadily forward. And on May 16th, 2026, Piano Ten Thousand Leaves will finally reach its destination of 4,536 pieces. Every piece is an original piano composition filled with calmness, silence, and peace. I believe there is probably no other musical collection in the world created for twelve years under a single unchanging concept. That is why, when played on shuffle, every listening becomes a new encounter. I call this experience: The Piano Ten Thousand Leaves Music Bath Lifestyle. If you would like, please give it a try. Piano Ten Thousand Leaves is available on music streaming services worldwide. Please search for: “chair house” And finally, the only reason I was able to continue this slightly unimaginable journey to the very end was because of listeners around the world. For twelve years, so many people listened to these pieces. Without that quiet support, I do not think I could have reached 4,536 compositions. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much. chair house, hitoshi yasui, tokyo japan

And Emma's newest novel 'American Fantasy' is also about music fandom and identity. That story is set on a cruise ship centered around a nineties boy band and their fans. But today, Emma's going to tell me her story about her own relationship with the music of The Magnetic Fields. Stephin Merritt from the Magnetic Fields was just named one of the greatest living American songwriters by the New York Times, and Emma's introduction to their music was their 1999 triple album, '69 Love Songs.' For more info, visit songexploder.net/emma-straub.

The love song of Psalm 45 points us toward the love that exists between the King, Jesus Christ, and His Bride, the Church. As true God and true man, Jesus is the beautiful and victorious King over His enemies. He rules with true righteousness, and His people join Him in the splendor of His heavenly palace. Both Jews and Gentiles through faith rejoice in the Lord Jesus Christ, who reigns forever and ever.  Rev. Ryan Ogrodowicz, pastor at Grace Lutheran Church and School in Brenham, TX, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 45.  To learn more about Grace Lutheran, visit gracebrenham.org. Join Sharper Iron this spring to study selected Psalms. In the Psalter, God speaks His Word to us and teaches us how to speak back to Him in prayer. Even in the great variety of the Psalms, each one points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org
