Send us a textEpisode 484"The Jeffersons"Marla Gibbs.Marla Gibbs is known for her iconic portrayal of "Florence Johnston" in "The Jeffersons". The Jeffersons is considered by many to be one the best shows in history. Marla's current project is a 20 minute short called Mildred 4 A Million.Mildred 4 A Million" is a 20-minute love letter to all the Grandma's, and great Grandma's out there. It's about human connection across generations and it's that damn funny. It's also a celebration of the old, painstaking methods of doing things that may often seem pointless in today's lightning-fast need-it-now culture of tech. Starring Marla Gibbs (activist and 5-time Emmy nominee “The Jeffersons,” “227”), Brie Eley (“9-1-1,” “The Rookie”), Julian Ashley Mitchell (“The Treatment,” and the 94+ million views “Magic Rahat: Walking on Water”),Welcome, Marla Gibbs.www.mmcpodcast.comhttps://linktr.ee/mondaymorningcritic#thejeffersons #70stv #70s #80stv #80s #70smovies #80smovies #georgejefferson

In this first of a two-part episode of Advanced TV Herstory, host Cynthia Bemis Abrams welcomes Elva Green to discuss her book, "The Jeffersons: A Fresh Look Back." Ms. Green shares her personal journey as a writer and the impetus for the book, which offers insights, interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, and rare photos from the iconic TV series. Ms. Green interviewed cast and crew members, including the legendary Norman Lear and the incomparable Marla Gibbs, who—after forming a bond with the author—agreed to write the foreword for the book. Ms. Green also speaks fondly of Berlinda Tolbert, Ernest Harden Jr., and others whose willingness to share stories and contacts enhanced her research and writing. Back to the HOSTS picking the movies, damn it! This week, we start off a very special Super Summer Flopbuster season by talking all about the Robert Townsend superhero flick The Meteor Man. Is this silly superhero movie based in Republican logic? Why does this children's movie have so many drive-by shootings? Are satin baseball jackets and bleach-blonde hair really that scary for a gang? And how does this comedy manage to last 105 minutes with almost no jokes? Plus: it was very hard to find this movie and the guys talk about the shifty "real network" that seems to be the only place in the world that houses the film. Check our social media on Sunday for the Sunday Screencrap and take a guess at our next movie! What We've Been Watching: Repo Man Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Before we dive into the movie, Rob talks a little bit about watching the Marla Gibbs & Jackée sitcom "227" from 1985. "Long inhabited by human settlers, the Red Planet has become the manifest destiny of an over-populated Earth. Nearly 640,000 people now live and work all over Mars, mining the planet for its abundant natural resources. But one of those mining operations has uncovered a deadly mother lode: a long-dormant Martian civilization whose warriors are systematically taking over the bodies of human intruders. The film stars Natasha Henstridge, Ice Cube, Jason Statham, Pam Grier, Clea DuVall, and Joanna Cassidy." Rob's Twitter: @mgnppodcast & Instagram: Geekyrob & Fear Bias Please Like
