Empirische Untersuchungen bestätigen Frankl's These. Chris and Rowan discuss the role of meaning and purpose in mental health and modern psychology. We talk about how positive psychology has reintegrated the importance of meaning and purpose into the field of psychology and how some of the latest research has backed up the importance of meaning for our mental well-being.We look at why meaning and purpose were de-emphasised by some of the earlier psychologists like Sigmund Freud and why they later re-emerged through the work of people like Martin Seligman and Michael Steger.
Send us a Text Message. In this episode I interview Michael Steger, the Founder and Director of the Center for Meaning and Purpose, Professor of Psychology at Colorado State University and author of the MEANING IN LIFE QUESTIONAIRE, an unvaluable tool for clinical practice. This session covers both, conceptual and practical implications of meaning in life for the work in psychiatry.
Dr Michael Steger is the Founder and Director of the Center for Meaning and Purpose, and Professor of Psychology at Colorado State University. In this episode we tackle some pretty weighty issues. We discuss the meaning of our lives and the philosphy of appreciating the little moments and I reference Matt Haig and his book Reasons to stay alive, in which he catalogues all the seemingly mundane things in life that are sources of real joy. We define what purpose is and in doing so Dr Steger tells us what he means by purpose being an anchor we throw out into the future. We discuss the commodification of meaning which Dr Steger is very much against. Does following your passion really help you find your purpose ? We ask if purpose correlates with living a successful life. Expect to learn how a lack of meaning and purpose are linked to cognitive decline. We learn that the search for meaning is not uniform across the world, different cultures embark on a search for meaning in different ways. We also ask if our relationship with purpose and meaning has advanced since the days of the great greek philosophers. http://www.michaelfsteger.com/ Dr Steger's Ted Talk : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLFVoEF2RI0

All of us have dreams that we chase passionately, and on some occasions, when we are about to quit, someone tells us what we need to hear, and it energizes us and gives us air and impulse. But sometimes, it is the complete opposite. We know what we want, and our friends and family advise us to move on and try something different. And in those cases, the best thing we can do is ignore everyone's opinion, go after our dreams, and keep trying until we make them real. In this episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with the actor and producer at Book 11 Productions, Michael Steger. He is a Lifetime Member of The Actors Studio, and he has graduated Bachelor of Arts in Theatre/Theater from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He participated in multiple successful projects, including the 2008's TV series 90210 and True Blood, and the movie Ana Maria in Novela Land, among many others. We had a fantastic conversation about his journey on becoming an actor, why he quitted acting in high-school, and what made him go back to acting in College. He shared his thoughts on why people behave funny around those that are enthusiastically chasing their dreams. We also talked about turning weakness into strengths, the secrets for a long-lasting love relationship, how we attract our tribe through our behavior, and much more. Tune in and learn about Michael's journey into becoming a successful actor and his excitement for making constant leaps of faith. Taken from a statement from Barbara Boyd of the LaRouche PAC. "As President Donald Trump's path to the White House began to be accomplished last night, the counting in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania halted. In all of these states the President was leading. Georgia, where the President was also leading, became delayed by a "water main break". North Carolina was undeclared despite the President's lead there. Arizona was called, by Fox, with thousands of voted from election day not even counted. The vote fraud pattern is classic: "Stop everything, slow it down to a snail's pace, while we figure out how to concoct more votes in the Democrat city-centered pricincts we control"- namely in Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Atanta. After listening to this week's podcast, I suspect that you won't be able to stop yourself from taking a moment to reflect on what really matters to you the most in life, on what is truly important to you... and why. This episode is with Professor Michael Stegor – a world-leading expert in finding meaning in life. He's the Founder and Director of the Center for Meaning and Purpose at the University of Colorado. Among other things in the interview we discuss: Why feeling that we have more meaning and purpose makes us biologically healthier The new research showing that helping our kids to find meaning from a young age is really important How to find meaning (even though it's different for everyone) What I find interesting, when I look back to this conversation, is that although it didn't fit exactly into my investigative deep dive into mindfulness that ultimately came next for me – the interview was profoundly influential on everything I've done since and will do in the future. At the end you'll hear Mike reveal that he used to be a therapist, and I think you'll get a sense that he must have been really really good. He seems to just get people, and really understand what makes life worth living.

We are now less than 30 days before the Midterm elections. We face a population in revolt against the Jacobins who have come to dominate the Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton might more properly be situated now as the angry Queen of irrationality found in Alice in Wonderland, but with thousands of no-nothing brainwashed young people celebrating that irrationality. Where does this madness come from? Well, it's not genetic, as argued by identity politics politicians, both now, and historically. This argument may have been carried to its strategic nether when Obama's intelligence chief, James Clapper, argued that Russia were as genetically predisposed to attack the United States. If you believe in identity politics, you are inherently endorsing the idea that men and women are animals who must obey a fixed order of resources and honor an irrational nature, a dogma just put forward again in the new IPCC document, arguing for ruthless austerity regimes to reduce the world's populations by billions.
Today we have Michael Steger on the podcast. Dr. Steger is a Professor of Psychology, and the Founding Director of the Center for Meaning and Purpose at Colorado State University. In this episode we discuss the following topics: - The definition of meaning in life - The measurement of meaning - The dark triad and meaning - “The Hitler Problem” - Life satisfaction vs. meaning in life - Different forms of pleasure - The possibility for “meaning exhaustion” - Meaningful work - The difference between coherence, purpose, and significance - Different meanings of purpose - The strongest sources of meaning in life
In August of 1971, the oligarchy succeeded in finally destroying the Bretton Woods monetary system, created by Franklin Roosevelt, bastardized by Harry Truman, but nonetheless a basis for stable trade between nation states. What came in its wake was the free trade system favored by the City of London, in which price has no relation to the actual cost of production. Rather, as Milton Friedman argued, price theory evolves from the black market or the drug market it is whatever monetary price the "invisible hand" of the City of London banking apparatus can extract. Commodities can then be "valued" by manipulation of popular opinion and culture rather than their role in advancing and sustaining life. As the world explores returning to the type of full set economies advocated by LaRouche, it is now time to create a stable basis for trade in which terms of trade are set on the basis of LaRouche's measures for potential relative population density the clear implication of a Westphalian model for international relations. Making LaRouche's third and fourth laws the premise of any new system now will allow the U.S. and the world to survive the transition from the now bankrupt City of London/Wall Street system to a new economic platform of constant progressive change to higher orders of activity. Lyndon LaRouche refers to the appropriate perspective from which to conduct strategic analysis as "10,000 miles up and 10,000 years back" with an eye toward the critical features of development. In that analysis, the world is now in a major transformative phase, albeit a turbulent one. The Anglo-Dutch network is in the process of dictating its own end, trapped in the axiomatic assumptions which ensure its doom. The question remains, will it take the rest of humanity down with it? Across the world in Asia, three of the four powers necessary to bring into being the new paradigm, India, Russia, and China, have begun a deep collaborative process. Will the United States make the breakthroughs which will put our future on the only dynamic which guarantees growth and a future unencumbered by the chains of Empire? Lyn insists that he has always been a very old man because he lives in the actual history of our world. From his time in India, where he witnessed British genocide, he has always known the British Empire to be an axiomatically evil entity and he has spent a great deal of his life tracing its vulnerabilities and attacking them. Now, we stand on the stage of probable victory, but only if we adopt Lyn's perspective and use that to determine our actions. How do we elevate our fellow Americans to join the rest of the world in shedding these chains, not only those of Empire but of the constraints of time and space? ---------- Subscribe to LaRouchePAC Live: http://lpac.co/youtube Subscribe to LaRouchePAC Videos: http://lpac.co/youtube-vid Subscribe to LaRouchePAC Science: http://lpac.co/youtube-sci Get active, become an organizer: http://lpac.co/action Receive daily email updates from LaRouchePAC: http://lpac.co/daily Donate to LaRouchePAC: http://lpac.co/donate-yt Keep connected at: https://larouchepac.com/ https://www.facebook.com/LaRouchePAC https://soundcloud.com/larouche-pac https://twitter.com/larouchepac ==========
