These are the things we decode in our look at CRACKERJACK 3: · Bo Svenson and the rest of the cast · The Pre-Title Sequence · The cinematography · Special effects? · Where's the action? · What are the positives? · How having children in a movie can be creepy · What are the negatives? · Garden Gnomes can be helpful! · Is this movie worth your time? · And more! Producer's Note: please forgive the echo in this episode. We recorded by candle light in an ancient cathedral in the mountains.Join Dave and Tom as they slip into some leather chaps, pick out their favorite colored hanky and take a sweaty (and judgy) tour of some gay themed horror movies! First off is an incestuous little film about a boy, his deranged mother and lots of milk! Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (1981) aka Night Warning. Starring Susan Tyrrell, Jimmy McNichol, Bo Svenson and an early appearance from Bill Paxton! Next up is a sneaky little release from Vinegar Syndrome called Hanging Heart (1989) which has gay themes ✅ camp appeal ✅ and loads of head scratching ✅.Finally it's a detour to the meat packing district with the legendary Cruising by Exorcist director (not Exorcist 3!) William Friedkin and starring Al Pacino as the very scared looking undercover cop / real actor who doesn't quite know which movie he signed up for. This is the roughest of all trades, folks! Enjoy!
Steve & Izzy continue Squatchtember, where they celebrate movies about everybody's favorite cryptid, as they are joined by the homey Michael Bagford to discuss 1977's "Snowbeast" starring Bo Svenson, Yvette Mimieux, Juno from Beetlejuice, Skip from Wilderness Family & more!!! An overbearing aunt involves her nephew in murder, and things spiral from there in Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker. Grant joins us to talk about this early-1980s often-overlooked, bizarre movie.
After Italian producers balked at director Enzo Castellari's idea to remake The Dirty Dozen, he raised the money himself and hired American B-movie titans Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson to lead a group of military prisoners across Nazi German territory (really the backlots of Cinecitta and surrounding areas) on a trek to freedom into Switzerland. In 1978's The Inglorious Bastards, Castellari uses all the staples of Italian 70's schlock cinema (boobs, blood and bad dubbing) to great effect in this rousing and silly war film. Dan and Vicky discuss the film that so inspired Quentin Tarantino he bought the rights to the title to use for his own 2009 Nazi war film. Along the way, you'll get conversations on saving movie theatres, Sip and Paint and 80's actress Lisa Eilbacher as well as find out what a Disney bitch is (hint: Vicky is one). You'll also hear talk of some recently seen like Beverly HIlls Cop: Axel F, The Seven Samurai in 4K, A Quiet Place: Day One, Will and Grace reruns and Fly Me To The Moon. My guest is actor, Bo Svenson, perhaps best known for the Walking Tall series, and numerous other films. We discuss his growing up in Sweden, his metaphysical background, his views on why he is who he is, and much more.
On this episode of The Claw's Corner Rich sits with actor Bo Svenson! From Bo's IMDB:A multi-award-winning writer and actor, Bo Svenson was born in Sweden - the only child of a Jewish, Russian-born big band leader mother and a father who was the Swedish King's personal driver and bodyguard. At 17, he emigrated by himself to the US. After serving six years as a US Marine, he was pursuing a Ph.D. in MetaPhysics and paying the rent with odd acting gigs when he was hired to replace Paul Newman as Robert Redford's co-star in "The Great Waldo Pepper". This led to a starring role in the CBS TV pilot "The Freebooters" - and his being cast as "Big Swede" on the TV series "Here Come the Brides". His role as "The Creature" in the 3-hour TV movie "Mary Shelley's Original Frankenstein" brought him great acclaim - and was soon followed by other major starring film roles, including, but most notably, as: Sheriff Buford Pusser in "Walking Tall Part II", "Final Chapter: Walking Tall" and the "Walking Tall" TV series, as the fun-loving offensive lineman Joe Bob Priddy in "North Dallas Forty", as the heroic airline pilot in "The Delta Force", and as Clint Eastwood's rival in "Heartbreak Ridge". During his fifty years in Hollywood, he has worked with over 100 Academy Award winners/nominees. Since appearing in Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" and "Inglourious Basterds" (the latter being Tarantino's version of one of his favorite films of all time, "The Inglorious Bastards" in which Bo starred), Bo has focused on his first love - writing. His screenplays have won and/or been selected more than thirty times by major film festivals. An accomplished athlete, he has competed in world championships in judo and in Olympic selections in yachting. A 5th degree black belt in judo and a black belt holder in karate as well as aikido, he is past Chairman of USA Judo Masters and has been inducted into the Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame. He is active in community service causes and was Sports Commissioner at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games at his Alma Mater UCLA. Since 1975, he has been President/CEO of MagicQuest Entertainment, a California motion picture development and production company that also provides consulting services to actors and script advice to writers. He is also owner and CEO of the British Columbia film and television production company, CanAm Film Corp., and the Norwegian corporation, Den Norske Arv A/S. He was Chairman of the Board/CEO of Motion Picture Group of America (1984-2004). Todd is joined by Richard Kirkham from the Lambcast for some high-flying, wing-walking fun as they discuss George Roy Hill's 1975 follow-up to The Sting. Robert Redford, Bo Svenson, and Susan Sarandon star in The Great Waldo Pepper.
Hello, today I talk about the final chapter in the Walking Tall trilogy. The movie shows how Buford lives a year after his wife's death and how he tries to cope with it. Also, Buford loses his job as sheriff after a lawyer fixes the election so that he loses the job of sheriff and his enemies want revenge. Including a man who Buford beats and sends his son Robby to an orphanage. But once the man named O.Q. teal and his brother are let out they attack Buford's car and attack Buford, and after Buford dispatches them the new sheriff asks the townspeople if they did in fact see if Buford was attacked but the townspeople say no. Leading to Buford's friend and lawyer Lloyd Tatum to say to Buford they forget what you did for them really easily. Later in the movie, Buford's life story is made into a film in which he breaks down during the showing of his wife's death in the movie having to relive it in the theater. Also, Buford buys minibikes for his kids and a nice Corvette for himself. Finally, the ending shows him dying after he loses control of his car and is ejected from the car. Some say he was murdered and the movie makes you wonder if the same people he fought against came back to finish the job they once tried to finish before and failed. The end. This week, join us as we discuss one of the best-acted horror films of the '80s - 1981's Night Warning. Poor Billy is caught between his crazy aunt Cheryl (the incredible Susan Tyrell), his gay basketball coach, and the homophobic sheriff who thinks Billy is guilty of murder (the incredible Bo Svenson). They all add up to a classic piece of southern gothic horror, a fine melodrama, and one of the earliest slashers. On this episode: a logging truck beheading, incest vibes, defining hag horror, secret promise rings, basketball sabotage, attic remodels, implied necrophilia, axe chases, meat tenderizer battery, copious milk-drinking, and ill-advised text epilogues.
AKA Night Warning (what the hell is a night warning?), this nasty little flick features a great asshole turn by Bo Svenson and a phenomenal performance by Susan Tyrrell. A highly underseen and underrated horror gem.
This week we continue a series of Abominable Snowman movies with Snowbeast (1977). This is Episode #355! Snowbeast is a 1977 American made-for-television horror film starring Bo Svenson, Yvette Mimieux, Robert Logan and Clint Walker. It was directed by Herb Wallerstein from a teleplay written by Joseph Stefano (who wrote the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller Psycho). The film originally premiered as the NBC Thursday Night Movie on NBC on April 28, 1977. This was the #1-rated television program in the USA the week of its release.
Wow! This classic manages to swaddle some truly transgressive, squirm-inducing discomfort in the gauzy warmth of William Asher's 1950s-60s television eyeball. I don't know what's happening to my body, but I don't like it. For a good time, watch this movie starring Jimmy McNichol, Bo Svenson, Julia Duffy, Steve Eastin, and an unfathomably epic performance from Susan Tyrell. Also, an early-career appearance by "William" Bill Paxton, because Billy needed to be menaced by more enemies! Jon and Magie talk with Del Weston, Host of Del Weston On Film at EFC Films, Professional Television Producer, Writer, and Artist, about his love of film and filmmaking along with the importance of finding your passion and putting your heart into everything you do! Del Weston is a writer, producer, line producer, director, and artist. He is the executive director and creator of the hugely successful Action On Film International Film Festivals and the AOF Megafest which has been running continuously for the last seventeen years. He has produced, written, and directed shows for SPIKE TV – Reality Racing The Rookie Challenge, NBC Los Angeles – The AOF Channel, ESPN II – Feelin' Good and is best known for his feature films, Split, Sunny and RayRay, The Victims, and Trick. Weston has had roles in films with Sylvester Stallone – Rocky V, Jet Li – The Master, and do stunts and fight choreography for films like Rocky V, Asylum, Trick, Reality Racing the Rookie Challenge, and many more. Weston served as the director of photography, co-writer, and editor, and post-production supervisor on the Wrangler Award-Winning Film Behind The Gate which starred Academy Award Winner Joe Pesci, Oscar De La Hoya, Gary Stevens, and Bobby Flay. For the AOF Channel Television Series, Weston directed greats such as Kim Coates – Son's of Anarchy, Michael Strahan – Good Morning America, Tony Gonzalez – NFL Hall of Famer, Chuck Liddel – UFC Champion, and tons of other great talents. He has worked with other great stars including David Carridine, Talia Shire, Bo Svenson, John Savage, and Michael Pare. In 2013, Weston launched Del Weston's Action On Film Television Series which aired across the United States and Europe and featured indie filmmakers, writers, directors, and performers. With over 600 produced episodes, the program has been seen by millions of viewers worldwide. Del has worked in all phases of production including line producer, on multi-million dollar projects as well as micro-budget films. He believes that the major difference between a good project and a great project is a sensitive touch between the Above the Line, Below the Line Costs as well as an intimate knowledge of Union Agreements, Contracts, Payroll, Scheduling, and an understanding of how NOT to go over budget. Benefits such as Section 181, Tax Credits, and incentives, Insurance, etc., must be taken into account before the cameras roll. And, finally, the project must be made with an eye on sales and distribution at every level. Creating and producing all necessary Deliverables at every stage of production can and does make all the difference between success and failure. In 2014, Weston began publishing The Top 100 Books via iTunes which includes a series of interactive books that rank the top indie Writers and Directors in the World. Much of the talented folks in the books came directly from The Action On Film Festivals and the AOF Megasfest which Weston created and launched in 2005. The AOF Festival has grown to encompass not just Action On Film but it now includes The Icon Awards, The Legendary Stunt Awards, The Newsfest, X-World Short Festival, No Risk Fee Fest, Hollywood Dreams International Film Festival, TMIFF, Conquering Disabilities Film Festival, The Great Las Vegas Chinese Film Festival, New Cinema, and The Young Storytellers Awards. All of the events are held during our annual ten-day event which has taken place in Las Vegas for the last four years after running in Pasadena CA, for the previous eleven seasons. In 2018 The AOF Megafest Magazine was born and the online magazine has grown with each and every issue in both size and scope. With profiles and stories on Top Indie Pros as well as folks new to the world of independent film, the magazine continues to give a voice to hundreds of creative folks from around the globe. Currently, Del is working on a slate of independent films which began in 2016 and features a series of ten films which include, The Victims, Trick, Ole King Cole, Clutch, The Jimmy Mulidore Story, Abi's Hands, DIE, and a few others which will be produced in 2021. He continues to work with writers and directors to bring their visions to life as a consulting producer for a number of projects that are currently in post-production. Our PRIDE MONTH celebration continues with a look at the truly unusual, blood-streaked 1981 psychological thriller BUTCHER, BAKER, NIGHTMARE MAKER aka NIGHT WARNING. Billy, an orphaned teenager, finds himself being dominated by his increasingly unhinged Aunt Sheryl who's hell-bent on keeping him with her...at all costs. Despite its deceptively simple plot, BBNM is a remarkably layered film featuring a bravura performance from SUSAN TYRELL and enough twisted Greek Tragedy elements to make Oedipus blush. Given the time the movie was made, most surprising of all is its positive portrayal of gay men standing strong in the face of vicious homophobia, making it a perfect choice to round off PRIDE MONTH. On this edition of Parallax Views, true crime author Synova Cantrell joins us for a riveting discussion of an organized crime syndicate known as The Dixie Mafia. If you've ever seen the Walking Tall movies The Dixie Mafia are the antagonists of tough southern Sheriff Buford Pusser (portrayed in the movies by Joe Don Baker, Bo Svenson, and, in the remake, "Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson). But the story of Buford Pusser and his battle against The Dixie Mafia wasn't just the stuff of action movies. Pusser was real and so was the Dixie Mafia. In fact, the Pusser story is only one part of the Dixie Mafia saga. Synova Cantrell, in her book Silenced by the Dixie Mafia: The Anderson Files, tells not only the story of Pusser and the Dixie Mafia but a cold case that has led one woman, Phyllis Anderson, on quest for justice over the course of multiple decades. It's a story of that encompasses arson and murder-for-hire plots, police brutality and police misconduct, racist groups like the KKK, lawless southern-fried criminality in rural America that was arguably more vicious than the Italian mob, moonshine, poverty, villains resembling more serious versions of The Dukes of Hazzard characters Boss Hogg and Roscoe, Southern belles gone bad, and even the break-up of the the Allman Brothers band!We delve into a number of these areas including:- The origins of the Dixie Mafia by way of the Stateline mob- The brilliance of the Dixie Mafia and characters like Towhead White as well as the structure of the Dixie Mafia- The Dixie Mafia, "The Godfathers of Southern Rock" the Allman Brothers, and the RICO act- The real Buford Pusser and the mythology of the Walking Tall movies; Buford "The Bull" Pusser's one-man war against the Dixie Mafia and his fight to the death with Towhead White- The vicious and seductive Louise Hathcock, the Queen of the Stateline mob- And much, much more!

Craig Muckler was born in 1953 in the Mesabi Range town of Virginia, Minnesota. He was born with a stutter and a determination to overcome it. As a result, he was part of a rock band in high school. His childhood was also influenced by a regular summer visitor, the mother of Rock Hudson. Craig moved to Los Angeles to try to make it in show biz. He was part of the company that produced "Malibu High, " and tried his hand at everything he could, including acting -- his part in a film about skyjacker D.B. Cooper ended on the cutting room floor -- to script writing -- succeeding with the cult classic "Microwave Massacre" -- and he kept body and soul together with such jobs as movie theater employee. A friend and local-access TV producer, Michael Morrison, encouraged him to host his own show, and named it for him: "Craig Muckler's Hollywood Showcase." Among the guests Craig had on the show: comedian Jackie Vernon, actors Aldo Ray, William Sanderson, Misty Rowe, Bo Svenson, Brinke Stevens, director Allan Holzman, composer Susan Justin. Byrd and Matt emerge from COVID-19 quarantine to discuss Kinji Fukusaku's pandemic panic film Virus, arguably the most ambitious Japanese film ever made. Along for the ride are authors John LeMay (The Lost Films) and Kevin Derendorf (Kaiju for Hipsters, Maser Patrol blog). The film shows how a fast acting virus spreads across the globe and wipes out all of the human race except for a small population in Antarctica. Based on a novel by Sakyo Kumatsu (Submersion of Japan), Virus had the largest budget of any Japanese film at the time and had a star studded cast of international stars including Glenn Ford, Masao Kusakari, Olivia Hussey, George Kennedy, Sonny Chiba, Chuck Connors, Henry Silva, Bo Svenson, Robert Vaughn and more. So how does the lofty disaster film fare? Listen and find out!

The Beefers are back to celebrate a true blue American hero. Long ago in Tennessee, Buford Pusser laid out some small town justice while putting his own life and family at risk. In Episode XXXI the crew dives deeper into the 1980 Japanese submarine film Virus directed by Kinji Fukasaku, starring Masao Kusakari, George Kennedy, Bo Svenson, Robert Vaughn, Glenn Ford, Olivia Hussey, and Edward James Olmos. A manmade virus completely devastates Earth’s population. The only survivors are people living on a submarine and a group of scientists living in Antarctica, where cold temperatures keep the virus in a dormant state. It’ll be up to our small group of survivors to build a new world. This episode we have a special guest, Nick Palodichuk, the host of St. Paul Filmcast he will also be at the upcoming Crypticon MN where he will be hosting the panel “Benefit of Podcasts for Independent Filmmaking”. We discuss the movie Virus, his show, and his upcoming graphic novel The Green Way Book #1. We discuss some of the crappy movies we bought for $2-3 and what motivated our purchases. A big thanks to Toronto's 2Q video (sadly, now defunct). In this edition of the Really Awful Movies podcast, we discuss our love for the frequently unintelligible Vinnie Jones as well as WWE film productions. Cut Off features the one and only third-rate rapper Kurupt (who we discovered from Half Past Dead, an aptly-titled Seagal flick). A hot chick wearing bullet bandoliers was an impetus for the purchase, as well as the presence of Malcolm McDowell and Faye Dunaway. The plot is can't miss: A spoiled heiress is cut off from her billionaire father and embarks on a crime spree (!). Jeff picked up Wise Girls based on the cover and the presence of Mira Sorvino and Mariah Carey (!). The women discover survival is more than "service with a smile." There's gotta be more to the diva than Glitter. Chris picked up Crackerjack 3 because it has b-movie icon Bo Svenson and Oliver Grunier in it. It looks like a painfully lousy espionage flick. Then, it's Panic Room meets The Strangers. An elevator pitch on the DVD? That's a bad sign! Stash House features the one, the only, Dolph Lundgren. Lastly, Johnny Was stars Vinnie Jones and weirdly, former Canadian heavyweight champ Lennox Lewis and Who singer Roger Daltrey!
Quentin Tarantino ville absolut ha med honom i Inglourious Basterds.
