The last police commissioner is suing the mayor and the NYPD for running what he alleges was a crooked operation with Eric Adams' cronies peddling promotions for payoffs. Incredibly, City Hall and one of those cronies responded by claiming the mayor's pick, storied FBI agent Tom Donlon, wasn't mentally up to the job — and on Monday Donlon put in a notice of claim against Adams and former NYPD Spokesperson Tarik Sheppherd for a $10 million defamation suit. Hosts Christina Greer, Katie Greer and Harry Siegel discuss all that and much more, including what seems like a race to the bottom between Adams and Andrew Cuomo, before Andrew Rein of the Citizen Budget Commission comes on to talk about the deep hole the city and state are in even before Washington makes more social safety net spending cuts. When New York's been in trouble before, the feds spent billions. Now the Trump administration is taking billions away but local spending is spiking and something is going to give.

On Friday's Mark Levin Show, Stephen Colbert's show was cancelled because they were losing millions of dollars a year, it had nothing to do with President Trump. Colbert and his late-night pals destroyed late night comedy by making it overly political and monotonous, rather than focusing on laughter as people seek escape from politics. Past great comedians like Jay Leno, Johnny Carson, and Steve Allen built this genre professionally and these hosts have exploited and ruined it. Also, America First Legal revealed emails showing Biden DOJ and White House coordination on Merrick Garland's 2021 memo directing FBI to address “threats” from parents protesting school policies on COVID, CRT, and transgender issues. The DOJ sought a federal hook despite internal warnings of First Amendment protections and no federal jurisdiction. Emails undermine Garland's independence claims. They coordinated, lied about it and nobody will be held to account. In addition, declassified documents from DNI Tulsi Gabbard reveal the Obama administration politicized intelligence to fabricate a Russian interference narrative in the 2016 election, despite IC reports showing no cyber impact on outcomes, only minor psychological efforts. This laid groundwork for the Trump-Russia probe, involving officials like Clapper, Brennan, Rice, Kerry, Lynch, and McCabe, culminating in a Dec 9 White House meeting and new IC assessment per Obama. We always knew this was corrupt. Later, Alexander Hamilton's views on liberty and government differed with those of Jefferson and Madison. Hamilton's modern appeal among centralized power advocates, as seen in the Broadway musical's popularity with elites and academics. Hamilton proposed lifetime terms for the executive and one legislative branch at the Convention, an idea rejected. Raoul Berger's book critiques implied powers as abusive, emphasizing the Constitution's intent to restrict federal authority and protect state residuary powers. Hamilton in Federalist No. 33 reassured states on the "necessary and proper" clause as means to execute delegated powers only, per Madison and ratification understandings. Afterward, NYC Mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa calls in with an update on his campaign against Zohran Mamdani, Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo. Learn more about your ad choices. Interview with Dr. Hank Sheinkopf, Prominent Democratic pollster and consultant, who was recently featured in a Wall Street Journal article titled, Can Anyone Stop Zohran Mamdani? Dr. Sheinkopf has worked on an estimated 700 political domestic and international political campaigns. June 24, 2025 will go down in history as the day that New York City, the Big Apple, experienced a political earthquake never seen before. A 33 year old Zohran Mamdani, with ZERO government experience, shook the City and beyond to its core, by winning the Democratic primary for New York City. A young man, whose ideology is the furthest to the left that we have ever witnessed. Not only is he a virulent antisemite in a City that has the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, but his platform goes against EVERYTHING New York is about; From promising rent control to opening government run grocery stores, to promising free buses, free childcare, strengthening New York City's status as a “sanctuary city,” and defunding the police. All of these issues and more, will be paid for, according to Mamdani, by raising taxes on billionaires, whom he said, shouldn't exist. He was the founder of the antisemitic group, Students for Justice in Palestine, while attending Bowdoin College, he has refused to denounce “globalize the intifada,” which is a call for violence against the Jews worldwide, supports the BDS movement to delegitimize the State of Israel, and even vowed, though he has no standing, to have Israel's PM arrested when he comes to New York. And lest anyone think that he is the typical leftist who is rebellious against his parents, his father is a professor at Columbia University, who believes that “suicide bombers” are a legitimate weapon of war, and that they are soldiers, not terrorists. Mamdani has also said he would appoint former disgraced, antisemitic Congressman, Jamaal Bowman as his Chancellor of Education. As of this Broadcast, there are 3 candidates challenging Mamdani to be the Mayor. Andrew Cuomo, the former disgraced Governor who was forced to resign over sexual harassment allegations, current Mayor Eric Adams who is running as an Independent, and Republican candidate, Curtis Sliwa. The problem is, if 2 of them don't withdraw their candidacies, Mamdani is all but guaranteed victory this November. In the interview, Dr. Sheinkopf said, "Mamdani is not a Democrat, he is a Socialist who, with his millions, is "trying to hijack a bankrupt Democratic Party that now stands for nothing." According to Sheinkopf, the reason Mamdani was able to win the nomination during the primaries was thanks to a small group of people, who are generally young, who don't like those in power...but believe they are entitled to take over the world. "They are the most pampered generation in history!" "So in Mamdani, they found a candidate who never had a tough job, never worked very hard, born with 2 silver spoons in his mouth, whose parents' house was subsidized by the taxpayers because Columbia U. pays no taxes, and his father is a Professor there. Dr. Sheinkopf went on to say that "Jewish New York is finished...it's only a question of when the lights get turned out." When asked about the influence of Jewish elected officials who are supporting Mamdani, Sheinkopf said, "(Congressman) Nadler should be tossed out immediately....Should have been gone a long time ago!" Sheinkopf lamented the "stupidity" of some Jewish Democrats who think they will be accepted by a Mamdani Administration, because they don't understand that this isn't about Israel, it's about defeating the West, whose values are steeped in everything Judaism stands for. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. New York reporter Luke Tress joins host Jessica Steinberg for today's episode. Tress discusses several universities dealing with issues of antisemitism and anti-Zionism, including Tuesday's hearing in Congress as Republican officials questioned the CUNY chancellor and presidents of Berkeley and Georgetown about foreign funding, support for terrorism on campus and harassment of Jewish students on campus, keeping up the Trump administration pressure. He also discusses a report on Israel studies programs in universities, as a Jerusalem think tank looked at the climate on campuses, including anti-Zionism activism on campus alongside rich discussion and a broad array of viewpoints in the classroom. Tress talks about mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and his threats to arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he ever visited New York, as well as the current feud between New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Comptroller Brad Lander about a possible BDS conflict over New York's divestment from Israel bonds. He also mentions the 100-year-old Adirondacks synagogue that has persisted despite the dearth of Jews in the area and the history of Jewish immigrants in rural America. Andrew Cuomo is still trying to matter. That's the clearest takeaway from his latest appearance — a campaign reboot so empty and unconvincing it bordered on parody. After blowing a 60-point lead in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor to Zohran Mamdani, Cuomo continues to operate as if he didn't just have — and squander — his best shot. It wasn't a close race. It wasn't an upset. It was a humiliation, and it made Mamdani a star. Cuomo didn't just lose; he handed the spotlight to the person who beat him. What's most baffling is Cuomo's unwillingness to run as anything other than himself. His latest ad is a watered-down version of Mamdani's campaign. Mamdani talked to people across the city about affordability — and even if his ideas were divisive, they were ideas. Cuomo's pitch? Affordability. No vision. No contrast. Just a stale echo of a message he neither originated nor sharpened. If Cuomo wanted to offer something Mamdani couldn't, he had options. He could've leaned into public safety, into the fear felt by many New Yorkers. He could've campaigned from a synagogue, framed himself as the candidate who would safeguard Jewish communities, and tied Mamdani to the left wing of the party in a way that forced a choice. Instead, we got nothing.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. There's no attack line, no clear point of differentiation. Cuomo could've said: this is de Blasio 2.0. He could've framed Mamdani as a performance artist backed by a failed administration. He didn't. Instead, he gave voters a lifeless, mimicry-driven campaign with no policy edge. And that brings us to what he is actually running on: his name. For a sliver of voters — the “Cuomosexuals” who liked Mario, liked Andrew, maybe even liked Chris — that might be enough. But for everyone else, Cuomo looks like a man clinging to a legacy that no longer serves him. This also highlights why “Stop ‘X' Candidate” movements almost never work. Ego ruins coordination. Eric Adams isn't dropping out — he's the sitting mayor. Cuomo still acts like running is beneath him. Curtis Sliwa isn't a serious enough contender to pull votes in a general election. And despite the specter of Mamdani's ideology frightening national Democrats, no consensus candidate has emerged. If there were a moderate Republican hedge fund type — pro-choice, socially liberal — that person could shake things up. But they don't exist here. Not this cycle.Ultimately, national Republicans are thrilled. They see Mamdani as a gift. Mike Johnson and Donald Trump will seize on his victory to cast New York as the face of socialism in America — a symbol of excess, decline, and failed progressivism. It's a setup for the midterms. They're ready to prey on any misstep, real or imagined. And unless something changes fast, the ‘Stop Zohran' movement isn't materializing. Not because it couldn't — but because no one in the race knows how to make it happen. Cuomo had his chance. He whiffed.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:02:37 - Cuomo Stays in NYC Race00:11:36 - Update00:12:05 - Inflation Report00:15:26 - Recissions Package00:18:45 - Israel00:19:55 - Interview with Emily Jashinsky00:59:15 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, there are reports in the media about divisions among President Trump's supporters over topics such as policy toward Iran, amnesty for farmers (which did not occur), a Jeffrey Epstein list, and aid to Ukraine. Commentators and influencers exaggerate controversies for attention, views, or subscriptions, including unsubstantiated assertions about an Epstein list, involvement of Mossad, or the nature of Epstein's death, officially ruled a suicide by two Attorneys General. They are opportunistic, lacking character, and ignoring broader threats like actions by China, Russia, North Korea, domestic unrest, and antisemitism.  Those of us who support President Trump are not going to abandon him on his mission to save this country and his policies. Also, there's a battle for America's future taking place right now in New York City and Los Angeles. Democrats in LA are demonizing ICE agents, promoting sanctuary cities as a new confederacy defying federal immigration law, and pursuing open borders to flood the U.S. with illegal immigrants, ignoring crimes, human trafficking, and the disappearance of women and unaccompanied minors. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass a new Confederate for leading a sanctuary city that nullifies federal immigration laws. Federal ICE agents raided a marijuana farm, where agents, armed with a warrant based on probable cause of crimes, discovered 10 children engaged in illegal labor.  Democrats, including Bass, are now defending criminal child labor violations. In NYC, they might install a Marxist Islamist as mayor to dismantle capitalism. If Andrew Cuomo, Eric Adams and Curtis Sliwa stay in the race – Mamdani wins. Learn more about your ad choices.
