His journey through the blues world began when he first picked up a guitar, a moment that would set the course for his life's passion and career.Growing up in the Windy City, Moss was surrounded by the ghosts of blues legends who had walked the same streets and played in the same smoky clubs. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in his career, one defined by electrifying performances and critically acclaimed albums. Whether he's belting out a heart-wrenching ballad or tearing through a scorching blues-rock anthem, Moss's passion for the music is palpable in every note.Over the years, Moss has released a string of highly acclaimed albums, each one showcasing his evolution as an artist. From the raw, down-and-dirty blues of "Got a New Plan" to the soulful grooves of "Time Ain't Free," his discography is a testament to his versatility and musical prowess. In addition to his work in the studio, Moss is a seasoned performer with a reputation for delivering electrifying live shows. Whether he's headlining major blues festivals or packing clubs to capacity, his dynamic stage presence never fails to leave audiences spellbound.Beyond his accomplishments as a musician, Moss is also a dedicated ambassador for the blues genre. Dennis Gruenling joins me on episode 99.Dennis is originally from the New York area, where he began his love affair with record collecting, listening to a wide range of music, from country to rhythm and blues and beyond before it all came together when he heard his first harmonica on the great Harp Attack album. Dennis cut his teeth with the support of local harp players before releasing his first album, Jump Time, featuring the jump swing style of his early output. On this, and subsequent albums, Dennis was a trailblazer in making extensive use of amplified low tuned harmonicas. Dennis has gone on to make some great albums across the jump and Chicago blues genres, and currently plays with the Nick Moss band. From an early age Dennis has been renovating vintage microphones, and is now one of the leading providers of vintage mics and amps in the world, via his BadAssHarmonicas website, as well as a huge collection of webinars on all things harmonica.Links:Dennis Gruenling websites:https://badassharmonica.com/https://www.dennisgruenling.coNick Moss band:https://badassharmonica.com/pages/nick-moss-bandWebinars:https://badassharmonica.com/collections/saturday-q-a-webinarsGear used by Dennis:https://www.dennisgruenling.com/gearBands In Town page:https://www.bandsintown.com/a/14484438-dennis-gruenling-badass-harmonicaTip Dennis:https://badassharmonica.com/collections/tips-thank-youVideos:YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/@DennisGruenlingPlaying Rocker with the Nick Moss band:https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=29&v=2EswyXuWwzPodcast website:https://www.harmonicahappyhour.comDonations:If you want to make a voluntary donation to help support the running costs of the podcast then please use this link (or visit the podcast website link above):https://paypal.me/harmonicahappyhour?locale.x=en_GBor sign-up to a monthly subscription to the podcast:https://www.buzzsprout.com/995536/supportSpotify Playlist:Also check out the Spotify Playlist, which contains most of the songs discussed in the podcast:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5QC6RF2VTfs4iPuasJBqwT?si=M-j3IkiISeefhR7ybm9qIQPodcast sponsors:This podcast is sponsored by SEYDEL harmonicas - visit the oldest harmonica factory in the world at www.seydel1847.com or on Facebook or InstagramSupport the show

Jason Ricci joins me on episode 93 (and on episode 94)In part one: Jason tells us how he started out in a punk band, with his bandmates suggesting he take up the harmonica. Of course, he took to it quickly, to become quite possibly the leading diatonic harmonica player of his generation. After initially developing his blues playing via the classic players, Jason moved to Memphis and developed his signature fast licks under the guidance of Pat Ramsey. Then, after getting into jazz and a brief flirtation with the saxophone, he started playing overblows, inspired by Howard Levy and the more blues based approach of Adam Gussow. Jason moved from Memphis for stints in various places, including Florida and jail, before settling in Nashville where he really made his presence known with his band Jason Ricci and New Blood. To be continued...Links:Jason's social media links::https://mooncat.org/https://www.instagram.com/jasonricci93/https://twitter.com/jasonricci93Patreon page:https://www.patreon.com/jasonricciTip Jason:PayPal.me/jasonricciBandcamp:https://jasonricci.bandcamp.com/Videos:Jason's YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/jasonricciBaby Scratch My Back with the Nick Moss band:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSGrzkcdiM0Podcast website:https://www.harmonicahappyhour.comDonations:If you want to make a voluntary donation to help support the running costs of the podcast then please use this link (or visit the podcast website link above):https://paypal.me/harmonicahappyhour?locale.x=en_GBor sign-up to a monthly subscription to the podcast:https://www.buzzsprout.com/995536/supportSpotify Playlist:Also check out the Spotify Playlist, which contains most of the songs discussed in the podcast:https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5QC6RF2VTfs4iPuasJBqwT?si=M-j3IkiISeefhR7ybm9qIQPodcast sponsors:This podcast is sponsored by SEYDEL harmonicas - visit the oldest harmonica factory in the world at www.seydel1847.com or on Facebook or Instagram at SEYDEL HARMONICASSupport the show

On this weeks episode I sat down with Nick Moss of Functional Neuro Health. We start our conversation by talking about how we are only aware of a limited amount of information, while the vast majority of information lies below the subconscious level. We start by discussing the performance iceberg, the only things that lie at surface level are behavior and results. Below the surface lie many subconscious mechanisms (Thoughts, emotions, feelings, physiology) that reflect the behaviors and movement choices that we often see in subjects. The nervous system is constantly scanning the environment and labeling different inputs as threat, no threat, nick shares how some of the more primitive structures examine our surroundings for threat. We discuss the bodies response to stress, stress is neither good nor bad, in fact it's an unavoidable and essential part of life. The problem with stress is more to do with thresholds, too little you find boredom , too much and you find chronic adaptations to stress. Nick discusses how we can utilize the breathe to help build certain buffers and increase our threshold to stress. We then get into how the nervous system is a conglomeration of signals, the system perceives something to be a threat when a signal reaches too high of a threshold. If signals consistently register as high this often manifest in patterns of weakness in the nervous system, this creates a compounding effect that we would often deem to be a symptom or perhaps a perceived injury. Nick discusses the function of noise and how the function of noise can go a long way to show where individuals may be having issues. Muscle inhibition is a product of one of three or a combination of structural, emotional, physiological. Nick shares that the more threatened someone is based upon their prior history the more likely he would be to take a top down approach. We end the conversation by talking about the role of primitive reflexes and Nick shares that primitive reflexes are the base. If we aren't addressing retained primitive reflexes there's a great chance that the other neurological means we are attempting are not being optimized. Nick discusses some of the more common of primitive reflexes, why reflexes may be retained and some of the manners in which we can work to integrate primitive reflexes. Make sure to check out the links below for access to Nick's socials as well as website Functional neuro health youtube Website

Chicago bluesman, Alligator recording artist and multiple BMA Award winner Nick Moss shares stories from his celebrated career, taking us from the South and West Sides of Chicago to his songwriting, studio work, guitar playing and lessons learned from some legendary bluesmen.
Um sabadão com o melhor do Blues aqui no #BluesBox. Hoje vamos de Lonnie Mack, Buddy Miles e Nick Moss no Blues Panorama.
Blues guitar virtuoso Nick Moss and harmonica wizard Dennis Gruenling have been on a winning streak since they first joined forces in 2016. With relentless nonstop touring and the release of their Alligator Records debut, The High Cost Of Low Living, in 2018, The Nick Moss Band Featuring Dennis Gruenling has been playing for wildly enthusiastic fans and winning over critics and radio programmers worldwide. Debuting at #3 on the Billboard Blues Chart, the album topped many 2018 “Best Of” lists. UK tastemaker magazine Mojo said, “Guitarist and singer Nick Moss shows the world his fearsome guitar chops and his complete familiarity with the great tradition of Chicago blues music. Partnered with harmonica-player Dennis Gruenling, Moss creates a two-headed monster that takes the band thundering through crisp originals.” Their self-made lucky streak continued into early 2019, when down-and-dirty guitarist Moss – a 30-year veteran of Chicago’s take-no-prisoners rough and tumble West and South Side blues clubs – won the Blues Music Award (BMA) for Traditional Blues Male Artist Of The Year. Gruenling, one on the hottest players on the scene today, took the BMA for Best Instrumentalist – Harmonica. And now, with the odds heavily in their favor, they unleash their dynamic new album, Lucky Guy!.

Host Nick David recently flew out to Chicago to do a handful of shows with the great Nick Moss. On the way back from their last gig in Beloit, WI they recorded this podcast. If you don't know Nick Moss he is one of the foremost Blues guitar bad asses on the planet. He also is an incredibly genuine and kind human being as well as a wicked funny dude. Enjoy!
This podcast was recorded on location with torchbearer of blues tradition and trailblazer of blues innovation, the great Nick Moss.
Arts In Fife, exploring creativity in Fife, Scotland. Artists in today's show: Nick Moss & Adam Broadhurst. Series created by Stuart Russell.
The bandstand's full in the little dive that seems to draw crowds week in and week out. Royal Southern Brotherhood, Michael Bram, Sweet Tea Jubilee, Nick Moss, and Victor Wainwright & The WildRoots are just some of the great blues artists that help fill the hour. That hour brings a variety of blues you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. And, of course, it's another hour of the finest blues you've never heard - the 475th Roadhouse.
Welcome Justin Robinson who will chat about his book City of Devils! Once, it was the City of Angels. But now, Los Angeles is the City of Devils…and as the only human P.I. left in a town of monsters, Nick Moss has a devil of a job to do.

Hilda Lamas began singing at the age of 4 and continued to do so in social settings. While in college getting her degree in Biology, Music again came calling and this time Hilda answered. With the release of her second album, Love Me Alone this past March and she is beginning to make a name for herself on the blues circuit, perfoming on the same atage with acts like Nick Moss, Marcia Ball and Los Lobos. I will chat with Hilda about her life and career while we listen to her music. Guitar lovers everywhere follow Patrick McLaughlin, the guitarist's guitar player, who brings unique musicianship and electrifying songwriting to the blues experience. Patrick McLaughlin, a blues/rock guitarist/vocalist from Columbus, Ohio, has led a band of his own for the past ten years. I will chat with patrick as we listen to his music. RB Stone is one heck of a musician and he is patient too! We have been circling each other for a year and finally will be doing this interview - and perfect timing as RB's new album - his 16th! - is just hitting and it is special! RB and I will finally chat and listen to tunes from Loosen Up Isaiah B Brunt joined me back April of 2012 and he returns with new music, Nursery Rhyme Blues, all the way from Australia ...
The 359th Roadhouse takes a little different turn, steering away from traditional blues with new blues sounds as the destination. Jason Ricci, Beverly McClellan, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Treasa Levasseur, and Nick Moss deliver that new sound in an interesting hour of our favorite musical genre. It's another hour of the finest blues you've never heard - The Roadhouse.
We're stepping away from the strife and misery of the world to have a ball in the 350th Roadhouse. Keith B. Brown, The Kinsey Report, Matthew Curry & The Fury, Buster Brown, and Nick Moss provide the shelter. Dress to the nines and join the Roadhouse crowd on the dance floor for a wordly escape and another hour of the finest blues you've never heard.
This edition of The Roadhouse is clearly upbeat. Nick Moss, Monster Mike Welch, Matt Hill, Mighty Lester, and Monkeyjunk make the point loud and clear that blues is more than just a man with a guitar on a porch. Contrary to what strangers to the form might think, blues can be upbeat, too, as evidenced in this hour of the finest blues you've never heard - the 347th Roadhouse.

We're continuing the theme we started last week of looking back at the new blues releases from 2010. All in all, I think you'll walk away from this hour with a good feeling about the blues and the state of blues this year. Pinetop Perkins & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Kilborn Alley Blues Band, The Nighthawks, Magic Slim & The Teardrops, and Nick Moss provide a great mix of older blues artists and new. They also deliver on the promise of another hour of the finest blues you've never heard as we close out 2010 in the 305th Roadhouse.
The 272nd Roadhouse puts a wrap on the 2010 Blues Music Awards with some big winners. I also fill the hour with great new blues, some from the past week, most from the past few months. Kilborn Alley Blues Band, Nick Moss, Oli Brown, Jonkeyjunk, and Peter Karp & Sue Foley help provide a well-rounded edition of The Roadhouse and another hour of the finest blues you've never heard.
