Instagram is failing kids. What happens when someone decides to walk away?   John Corella sits down with Lennon Torres to talk about her decision to quit Instagram and why she's pushing for stronger online protections. From cyberbullying to sextortion, social media isn't just a distraction. It's a real danger, especially for young queer individuals. Lennon shares the work she's doing with the HEAT Initiative to hold tech giants accountable and explains how platforms like Instagram and Apple could make simple changes to protect children, but choose not to.   This episode explores an idea that's central to Lennon's activism: Joy in Resistance. How do you stay hopeful when fighting an uphill battle? Why is choosing joy a powerful act of defiance? John and Lennon's conversation challenges listeners to rethink their relationship with social media and consider what real connection looks like in a world that profits from keeping us hooked.   Quotes “Part of our liberation and part of our fight is finding joy. And so much of these people that want to silence and quiet us don't get to take away our joy. And so the act of joy is a resistance. And so by being happy, by spreading that joy, and by reminding each other that we have each other to lean on, is in itself an act of resistance.” (10:42 | Lennon Torres) “If you had a 13-year-old son, would you give them a phone or give them an adult friend that you've never met before and put them in a room in your backyard and didn't check on them for 12 hours? Because that's what you're doing when you hand your kid a device.” (29:09 | Lennon Torres) “We have been taught by these platforms, brainwashed by these platforms, to think that in order to have all of the good, we have to have the bad. And we don't have to have the bad.” (40:48 | Lennon Torres) “We are at the beginning of that fight for child safety on big tech. These companies aren't going to do the right thing on their own, and we've seen it historically. Climate, the reason all of these big shareholder groups and these big companies are doing good for the environment now is not because they woke up one day and loved the trees. It's because they woke up one day and realized if they don't do good for the environment, their business will suffer. And we are at the beginning of that fight for children's safety on big tech.” (50:20 | Lennon Torres) “Connecting on social media is like having a meeting on enemy territory.” (01:02:29 | Lennon Torres)   Links www.protectchildrennotabuse.org https://mashable.com/article/quitting-instagram-meta-you-should-too Connect with Lennon Torres: linkedin.com/in/lennon-torres-325b791b4   Dance Dad with John Corella on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dancedadwithjohncorella/ John on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/john_corella/ Join Patreon for Free! “Psychological safety is the belief that you can speak up without fear of humiliation or punishment. It's essentially an environment where candor is expected. It's not comfortable, it's not easy, and it's not an environment free from negative feedback. It's a learning environment, and it's being misused,” says Amy Edmondson, Novartis Professor at Harvard Business School. This week, Amy joins Alex Raymond to discuss how creating psychological safety within a team enables risk-taking, learning from mistakes, and driving entrepreneurial success.   What does it mean to foster psychological safety? Amy introduces the idea of intelligent failures—those critical moments where mistakes become opportunities for learning, especially in new ventures. She clarifies that psychological safety isn't about making everyone comfortable; it's about promoting honest communication and openness. Leaders can cultivate this environment by modeling vulnerability and encouraging a problem-solving approach, shifting the focus away from blame.   This episode also covers how to sustain psychological safety in remote work settings. Amy discusses the importance of structure and intentional engagement to keep teams connected. She shares practical advice on resilience, reminding us that failures should be seen as valuable lessons rather than personal defeats.   Quotes “Part of the discipline of getting this right, of failing well, is to truly pause and appreciate what you are up against. Be realistic, even scientific about it… Failing well looks like being very thoughtful about the next risk you take and having good reason to believe it will pan out, which I think most entrepreneurs can identify with. Then, graciously acknowledging when that turns out to be wrong—that's okay. That's valuable new knowledge that you simply couldn't have gotten any other way.” (04:38 | Amy Edmondson)  “Psychological safety is the belief that you can speak up without fear of humiliation or punishment. It's essentially an environment where candor is expected. It's not comfortable, it's not easy, and it's not an environment free from negative feedback. It's a learning environment, and it's being misused.” (18:06 | Amy Edmondson)  “You must connect with the very real truth that the failure of a company doesn't make you a failure; it means you had a company that failed. That means you are wiser than you were right before that. That means you have a new, little bucket of knowledge that you lacked before. That's a treasure—value it. Value it enough to, in fact, share it with others.” (39:02 | Amy Edmondson)   Links Connect with Amy Edmondson: Website: https://amycedmondson.com/ Connect with Alex Raymond: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/afraymond/ Website: https://consciousentrepreneur.us/ HiveCast.fm is a proud sponsor of The Conscious Entrepreneur Podcast. In this episode of the Plant Medicine Podcast, Dr. Mark Braunstein returns to discuss potential concerns surrounding the use of ketamine, especially use which is not overseen by a knowledgeable medical professional. Dr. Braunstein is a whole-health psychiatrist with 22 years of clinical experience. He is the medical director for multiple mental health and psychedelic psychotherapy clinics in Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah and he also runs in-patient and out-patient programs for addiction. Additionally, Dr. Braunstein is involved in multiple projects focused on expanding access, awareness, research, and safety in the field of psychedelics. To begin this conversation, Dr. Braunstein shares how his original exposure to ketamine wasn't in a medicinal context, but rather as a recreational drug of abuse. However, since then he has seen the transformative effects this substance can have on patients when used in a physician-directed context and for therapeutic purposes. Nonetheless, Dr. Braunstein stresses that this does not mean ketamine use does not come with certain risks. Ketamine can be addictive and even carries a risk of overdose, particularly when used recreationally in a context where the purity of the substance is unknown. Dr. Braunstein distinguishes recreational and therapeutic uses of ketamine, explaining that recreational doses are often lower and dosing is more frequent, whereas ketamine is used in high doses in a therapeutic context, with extended periods between sessions. Dr. Braunstein stresses both the responsibility of physicians and of patients to ensure ketamine is prescribed responsibly and used as directed. Despite the dangers posed by recreational ketamine use Dr. Braunstein describes in this conversation, it is still a medicine he believes can have significant positive impacts for patients. This requires, however, that it not be treated merely as yet another quick fix pill. Instead, Dr. Braunstein emphasizes that ketamine treatment ought to coincide with psychotherapeutic work. This combination, he says, will maximize the therapeutic potential of ketamine while also helping to ensure that the medicine is used responsibly, under the close direction of a medical professional.   In this episode: The addiction and overdose potential with recreational ketamine use How dosage can dramatically change the effects of ketamine Responsible prescribing practices for physicians working with ketamine The psychological and physiological harms of ketamine abuse How Dr. Braunstein talks to his patients about responsible use before prescribing ketamine The importance of combining psychedelic medicines with psychotherapeutic work   Quotes: “Part of why ketamine works is because it lights up your brain in all these different ways and when done occasionally, intentionally, it moves you. But if you're always doing that, it ends up having the reverse effect, causing damage.” [12:56] “This is a heavy-duty medication that, if you cross the line, can cause you to stop breathing and then die. So there is an actual, real danger to ketamine.” [16:25] “I think the organ that is most prone to damage from overuse of ketamine is the same organ we are touting it fixing: the mind.” [18:39] “When we think about these medications, we should think about combining them with therapy and not just taking these medications as medications… So that's why with ketamine I'm really recommending it with therapy.” [25:04]   Links: Reconscious Medical Psychedelic Medicine Association Porangui

What is the upward flow? It is a term based on the prophecies of Isaiah and Micah that Zion will be the highest mountain and all the nations will stream up to it. It is a term that expresses what we are believing for in ending the downward pull of futility that has been on all creation and the beginning of our flowing up into the presence of the Lord and up into His Kingdom. It is something that we reach into today.   Show Notes: In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had everything provided for them, including life. As the result of their sin, God cursed the ground and humans now had to survive with great difficulty, eventually dying and returning to dust. This futility that is on creation, as Paul described it, is truly a downward pull where everything tends to disintegrate. Things that we need, including our bodies, wear out, fall apart, and stop functioning.   The promise in Romans 8, however, is that creation will be released from futility by the sons of God. Also, Isaiah and Micah prophesied that Zion will be established as the highest point and all the nations will stream up to it. The Scriptures thus illustrate how the downward pull will be replaced by an upward flow. There will be the reversal of disease and death, the end of war and of the inability for the nations to relate, and God will come to remove futility from our midst.   As we anticipate this release, we must recognize that we are in travail for it to happen. We know that we have salvation and the forgiveness of our sin, but we also understand that we live our lives daily under this downward pull, this force that is pulling everything away from God. That is why we groan, eagerly awaiting our adoption as sons of God, the redemption of our body. Let us have faith that we are in the days where we will experience the ending of the downward pull and the beginning of an upward flow into the presence of the Lord.   Key Verses:   •       Genesis 3:17–19. “Cursed is the ground because of you.” •       Romans 8:18–19. “The anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.” •       Romans 8:20–25. “The creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope.” •       Hebrews 9:28. “Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin.” •       Deuteronomy 29:5–6. “I have led you forty years in the wilderness; … you have not eaten bread.” •       Isaiah 2:2–4. “The mountain of the house of the LORD … will be raised above the hills; and all the nations will stream to it.” •       Micah 4:1–7. “The mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains. … And the peoples will stream to it.” •       Jeremiah 31:34. “‘They will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,' declares the LORD.”   Quotes:   •       “Part of our salvation does include the fact that futility at some point is going to be removed.” •       “God cursed His creation because of man's disobedience. He was protecting man from getting in more trouble than he was already in.” •       “The ability to understand and grasp and hear the Word and walk in the ways of God is opened up to us as futility disintegrates and goes away.”   Takeaways:   1.    In the world today, we battle the effects of futility. Futility works against us both on a natural level and on a spiritual level. It is like a tide that pulls us away from God and the things of God. 2.    As the Kingdom of God draws near and begins to dawn, the tide of futility will be reversed, acting instead like a river that is pulling us up into the things of God and up into His Kingdom. It is this change of tide that we call the upward flow. 3.    We are saved. But our salvation is with the hope of ending futility. Christ came the first time to deal with sin, but He will appear the second time without reference to sin, without sin being the issue. The issue will be lifting the curse that was imposed by God in hope that at some point we will come into the walk of obedience that will allow Him to remove the futility from creation.

Today I'm sharing the story of the journey I've taken with my course Real You Real Money... I'll tell you now, this is a vulnerable one!   Real You Real Money has gone through an evolution with every round. As I reflect back, I can see how different sides of my own conditioning around money, selling, and worth cropped up as roadblocks along the way.   A big part of this was around client results, and an unrealistic sense that I should be able to guarantee a specific experience and transformation within my courses. This led to a whole lot of self-doubt, trying to outsource my magic, and standing in the way of sharing the true impact of the course.   The truth is that everyone who interacts with your services will have a different experience based on where they're at in their own life and what happens outside of your time together. Whether you're a coach, service provider, or even a product-based business, this one is for you if you've ever found yourself stuck in circles of trying to control the uncontrollable.   And if you're interested in this round of Real You Real Money, sign up to hear the latest here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/real-you-real-money-waitlist     QUOTES   “Part of kindness at all costs is taking responsibility for so much more than it is possible for us to take responsibility for. As if I can create a program that somehow eradicates every single extra element that could come into someone's world while they're doing it - that's ridiculous.”   “If you have a good six months working with me, I will celebrate that. I will always be working with you to make sure in any way we can, that that's sustainable. That you are really drawing out of yourselves who you are, what works for you. I cannot make that happen, but I can ask the questions. Be that mirror for you.”   “If I focus on the idea that everybody HAS to get results, I am not making space for my clients as individuals with individual experiences and individual needs. I am putting myself at the forefront of that course creation.”

If our solution works correctly, we have the potential to reduce the overall environmental impact of that shipment by 70% or more” [8:25]“When I was a kid, it wasn't cool to be sustainable. People weren't seeking out brands because of it but now they are” [11:48]“Switching to Boox improves your bottom line because of customer retention, acquisition, and loyalty.” [12:11]“If you approach a brand with an environmentally friendly solution but it drastically affects their bottom line, they're gonna say no; it's just a reality of business today” [15:35]“Getting consumers to shift behavior is probably the biggest challenge we've had and will continue to have” [18:23]“An important thing about working on an impactful challenge is that we see other companies like that as partners, not as competition. In today's bonus episode of the podcast, Jeff is joined by a special guest with a very special interview and announcement. Kathy Schweitzer is an individual who has made a huge impact on many lives in real estate, and in Jeff's own journey. She took a chance on him at 19, developed him at a really high level, and helped him go from salesperson to CEO.  Kathy led one of the most successful real estate offices in Detroit, and has coached some of the most successful top producers and leaders in the business. She's truly a force to be reckoned with, and in this episode, she talks about her real estate career, how she crossed paths with Jeffs, her insights on leadership and what's next for her.   We're excited to announce that Kathy is joining Live Unreal Companies as Director of Sales. Having Kathy onboard is really special, and today you'll hear how all this came about, and why we can't wait to work with her!  We also discussed; How to retain talent when the competition can put more money in an agent's pocket What it takes to create a success environment  The mindset for dealing with crashes and pivots  Quotes  Part of being a good leader is your ability to adapt to the people you lead. -Kathy Schweitzer Key Points  1. It's not always the company that gives an agent the most money that retains talent. People want to be in an environment where they feel good. Of course they want to earn money too, but that's a byproduct of being in the right environment and the attitude it cultivates.  2. As leaders, we have to adapt to the people we work with, instead of them adapting to us. We have to accept that not everyone will share our exact approach and enthusiasm, so we have to be versatile and flexible and meet them where they are.  3. The agents who love the hunt and would go after expired listings all day tend to ignore their past clients and sphere of influence. Whatever lead generation method we use, we still need to have our sphere and past clients being nurtured at the same time.

Last week, Jen Zucconi, my business integrator, and I shared four of the most important things you can do to create a successful launch. There was so much to share that we've come back this week to explain four more crucial elements that have led to recent success for us.   Advance Planning is Essential As the day of your launch approaches, you'll have a lot on your plate. That's why we urge you to get your sales page up and ready at least a few weeks in advance. You can always make tweaks to it as needed, but by having it ready to go live before it's crunch time, you'll be able to focus on much more timely matters. With your sales page ready, you should do whatever you can to get in front of new audiences. With at least a month of lead time, you'll find it's a lot easier to sell to someone who has a number of contacts with you versus someone new.   You Can't Have too Much Promotion Next, let's start working on promotion. I know that this can be awkward for some people. Many feel that they're annoying people and promoting their launch more than they feel is necessary. But it's important not to hold back because only a small part of your audience is going to see any given piece of marketing that you put out.   Learning From Your Launch and From the Experts   Once your launch is over, it's time to take stock of it all. As soon as possible, do a debrief. Undoubtedly, you've just learned a lot about launching. Hopefully, you've taken notes. By intentionally examining the information you've gathered during your program, you'll be prepared to make your next launch even more of a success. All these lessons are things we have learned from James Wedmore's Business By Design program. Neither my business nor Jen's would be where they are without it. Longtime listeners to this podcast know how much I credit my success to James and his program. That's why I highly recommend it to any entrepreneur thinking of launching a program. So check out James' amazing online program and join before doors close on June 16! What are you most concerned about when it comes to a launch? Leave a comment on the episode page!   In This Episode Getting your sales page ready ahead of time [1:10] Spend time and money to get in front of new audiences well before the launch starts [4:40] Why you can't promote your launch too much [9:05] The importance of a post-launch debrief [14:45] What you can get out of the Business By Design program [22:10]   Quotes “Part of our three-month planning process involves getting some list-building activities going on at least a month before our launch actually kicks off.” [4:54] “With the promotion side of things, it's totally normal and expected to feel like you're talking about your stuff too much. That should actually be your goal.” [12:06] “Being able to learn from challenges and mistakes and what worked well is what's going to allow your next launch to be more successful than the one prior.” [15:54]   Review Fed and Fearless on Apple Podcasts! Messy In The Middle: Podcast for Realtors

SUMMARY In this episode of the Messy in the Middle podcast, hosts Ed Billings and Jefi Moultrie talk about the value of parties and "pop-bys" in growing your business. They discuss why it is important to engage your clients on a personal level and how to put in effort when it comes to planning events for your business. Jefi and Ed share some of the successful events they have hosted in the past and a few behind-the-scenes logistics that help with planning. QUOTES “Part of why it is really important (to do pop-bys), is one of the challenges we all face as realtors is that where you are sitting today can be very difficult to see where your business is coming from 90 -120 days out. When you work the referral way, by getting in front of your people letting them know you are still alive, still a realtor and bearing a gift, having that discussion, it is a really powerful way to do it.” -Ed Billings [03:30] “When you pop by to see someone. You get these little snippets into their lives…  it allows for real beautiful organic conversation. It helps you as their trusted advisor to know what it is that they actually need.” -Jefi Moultrie [08:53]   TIMESTAMPS [00:00] Intro [03:53] The value of hosting events to grow your business [05:08] The benefits of events [08:45] Jefi's personal story with a client party [13:30] What happens if nobody shows up to an event? Hi Friends! You're listening to Self-Love is Blind I'm your host Jillian and I'm legally blind. Self-Love is Blind is a podcast where we discuss all things self love related, the challenges, the self doubt that can get in the way and sharing suggestions on ways to overcome those challenges. I don't think of myself as being disabled and my friends don't really think of me as being disabled either, everyone has challenges, some more than others. - shout out Hadley for being my first patron, thank you! It's be almost two weeks now since the podcast was live and I am absolutely overwhelmed by the fantastic response I've received so far, thank you to everyone who reached out, subscribed, and rated the podcast on iTunes. It is so cool to watch the number of listeners grow, and I can also see there are people listening all over the place, in Ireland, Romania and the US. I'm also a bit overwhelmed in general, I'm driving this bus by myself and it's kind of like if I was actually driving a bus, I'm blind, that's scary for everyone. I actually have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm doing it, I'm a little behind only because I just realized I was doing something manually when I didn't need to. So, I should be able to get on track with my weekly Tuesday releases. it's all a learning experience for me at this point. I've been told I sound confident, let's just say I know how to put on a show, I'm not nearly as confident as I sound. Fake it till you make it. Self-Love tips for the week- Music is everything, if I put on something that I know that will make me dance a little it will make me feel better. When I was in school a couple years ago and just totally drowning, I would play 3 little birds by Bob Marley on repeat. every little thing will be okay.- When I started to get anxious, I just remind myself it's a temporary feeling. I also had to step away from editing because I was feeling overwhelmed it was taking me so long. This actually helped because I was able to stop and think there had to be an easier way. Turns out there was and I was doing something manually that I didn't need to Every storm runs out of rain, there is a quote for my next guest who I've dubbed the queen of quotes. I know she is a super busy woman so I am grateful Claudette donated her time to have this amazing conversation with me. I swear she is like superwoman or something. I met Claudette through her son Matt who is one of my close friends. He is one of the sweetest and most considerate guys, he always offers his help to guide me if I have trouble seeing, although there may have been a time or two I've had to guide him in a straight line. Another quote for the queen, Martin Luther King Jr said "Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase." I resonate a lot with Claudette as she talks about taking leaps in life. - We untangle some of her fascinating life story, dig into the different awakenings she's had and talked a lot about empowering ourselves and other woman, although the reality is its valuable information for just about anyone. - Her job titles. She was a Municipal Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Dental assistant, Former Commissioner of Oaths at Nova Scotia Supreme Court, to name a few- some of her biggest accomplishments are her work having a council recognize Lyme disease as a priority and participation with the first Lyme conference held in Bridgewater. - with the empowering women theme in mind for today's episode and it is black history month I wanted to highlight a local resource that I came across recently. - Mentorship program for Black women in business starts during pandemic https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/mentorshop-program-tia-upshaw-black-women-in-excellence-1.5879370?fbclid=IwAR2Eb5pbVcq3UDVZLsOITwkUq3G7uJtBpwiP_5xQ6-MEdOc9BbYDkNs6mzE Black excellence is all around us it's about time everyone's recognizing it.
