Don't underestimate the power of NO, especially when it comes to dating. If someone is the wrong fit, call it. And if someone ignores, ghosts, or just leaves you hanging, you can reclaim your power with one simple strategy. Some of the biggest concerns about dating in midlife are how to stay true to yourself, remain in control, and not settle for less than you deserve. In today's episode, Nancy talks about common dating mistakes, reminding us that they are just part of the story—not the end of the road.Dating in midlife isn't a scarcity-based game of musical chairs, so don't give in to internal pressure to make the "wrong" person "right"—that is the fastest way to self-sabotage on your search for love. Recognize when a relationship isn't a genuine fit, and remember, if you don't find anyone this round, there are more chances to come. Think of dating as your opportunity to find connection without the need to settle. For anyone who's been ghosted or ignored, Nancy shares how to reclaim your power and shift the narrative. She shares a personal story about learning that “no response” is a decline, and emphasizes that calling it out and having the last word can empower you to move forward without feeling left hanging. Her approach is about empowered self-respect—an essential asset at any stage of life.Nancy also talks about staying curious and authentic in the dating world. Experimenting with different facets of your personality is great if you stand firm in your values and don't lose yourself in the process. Hold onto your seats, ladies, because in episode 7, Nancy spices things up and ventures into the world of dating younger men. Should you do it? (Absolutely! But there ARE a few things to be aware of…)In today's episode, Nancy unpacks the pros and cons of dating younger, how to tell if it's the real deal, and how dating younger people means getting familiar with newer dating trends (*ahem* ethical non-monogamy). Regardless of what age pool you're dipping yourself into, it's essential to discuss intention – what do you want and what does he want? Communication ALWAYS plays a major factor in successful dating.  Boundaries are healthy, but having too many prerequisites narrows your dating pool down to a sliver. So let's talk about what things to focus on and what to ignore. The goal: lay all your cards on the table, be unapologetically honest about your desires, and dare to break free from society's raised eyebrows.10:12 -  If you're in a relationship with someone, there's no reason to not be completely open to communication. Cards on the table! Especially in midlife, I would much rather have the conversations, even if they're hard, than sweep things under the rug. Because the things under the rug are gonna find their way out.

Sami also gives top tips for dating in midlife including how to tackle online dating and how to identify red flags! Midlife library blog on dating - click here KEY TAKEAWAYS Create personal clarity, ask yourself why you want to date again and what you expect to get from it. It doesn't always shave to be serious. In mid-life, you come to the wisdom that this is your life, and you need to live it on your own terms. Hiring a coach, therapist or expert is very helpful if you want to start putting yourself first and working your way through any difficult past relationship issues. We have to let go of the limiting belief that men are only interested in our bodies, it's not true. Dating confidently is about how you feel about yourself, not getting validation from others. We must learn to date as our authentic selves, be honest about who we are and what we want, be the best version of ourselves, and trust that the right people will come. When creating an online profile, put yourself in your potential partners' shoes, how can you make yourself stand out? Be specific and unique about yourself. Give a sense of who you are as a person. Both men and women have masculine and feminine energy. When dating, women need to harness and exude their feminine energy. Rotational dating is putting the power back in the woman's hand, giving them choices and options and ultimately, power.  Take your time filtering and evaluating in early dating, you don't have to say yes to exclusivity to anyone. Honour yourself, your time and what you want in dating. Go at the pace that feels tight for you and you will attract far superior outcomes. If a partner isn't initiating or making an effort, then you will be doing this with them for the rest of your life. Shop around, be authentic, find your USP and use that and don't undervalue the role of research in yourself and dating. BEST MOMENTS  “We are more than our bodies” “Offer yourself compassion” “It's not about how your body looks, it's about how you feel about yourself” “We're better able to not be judged in middle life than when we were younger” “Dating is all about showing up as your authentic self” “Be your best self and let them come to you” “You attract the opposite energy”  “It's a very man-serving concept, exclusivity” “Go back to old fashioned values…hold out like our mothers did” “You don't owe anybody sex” If you enjoyed this episode, please rate, and review it on your podcast platform. It was several years ago now, but I think I recall it was something like "Raising the Jensens". When I try to search for this, it comes up with nothing. Essentially it was one woman (a mom) would play the part of herself, rounding up her anxiety as one person, depression as another, impulsivity as another, etc. It was quite funny. If any one can find it leave it in the comments.

Today on Feminine Roadmap guest and love coach Jerica Jech shares her journey of being suddenly single and midlife dating. At 48 Jerica found herself divorced and single which wasn’t how she thought her life would be. Since she didn’t want to stay single, she faced the prospect of midlife dating in an online world. With this prospect Jerica decided that she need to find a way to navigate her emotional process from divorce and figure out who she was and what she really wanted in a relationship. What Jerica realized was that dating is a very important selection process that can be fun as well as educational- you learn about yourself and how to trust your intuition. She encourages single women to practice radical self-care, socialize, exercise, learn new skills, and stay connected to a solid community of friends so that they can become the best version of themselves and attract the kind of partner they are looking for. Jerica wants to flip the script about online dating from negative and frustrating to seeing it as a fun and useful tool to meet new and interesting people, most of whom will not be the right match for you but that’s ok! By removing the pressure to “find the one” you can enjoy these “interviews” with people and only date the ones that can pass the interview. IF you or a girlfriend find yourself suddenly single and online dating, grab a cuppa something wonderful and press play to be encouraged by some practical strategies to make midlife dating a lot more fun! www.feminineroadmap.com/episode192/
