Hello, Void. As our title says, we talk about the 2015 film Spy starring Melissa McCarthy. This is a film neither of us thought would be enjoyable, but joke's on us, we can't stop laughing! Erin has not one, but two TED talks about her love of Jason Statham, Brennan keeps eating, and both cannot believe any Parisian could be "nice" especially to someone who spoke French like THAT. We discuss the copious cameos from Eurovision's Verka Serduchka, 50 Cent, and Ben Falcone to Zach Woods, Rachel Dratch (as "Sad Clown"), and Alison Janney. Come for a discussion of Bond parodies, stay for all the ridiculous things Jason Statham says. Just give us Spy 2!

Set to be bigger, bolder, and louder, this film marks the first live-action appearances of characters such as Cable and Domino, as well as a shift toward the "Sad Clown" aspect of Wade's character in the comics. While the film still did well critically and commercially, people had a notion for years that it was a step down from its predecessor, but is that truly the case? Before you go see DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE, come join Brian and Alec to find out as they wrap up the X-MENATHON with the second chapter of the Merc with a Mouth's trilogy -- DEADPOOL 2!

Due to technical difficulties Amy Winehouse episode is delayed. Will air at a later time. The Associated Press · Posted: Mar 12, 2007 9:04 AM EDT | Last Updated: March 12, 2007 Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on The Tonight Show and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday. Police found the comic alive but gravely injured in a West Hollywood home when they responded to a call Saturday morning from Jeni's girlfriend, Los Angeles police officer Norma Eisenman said. Eisenman said the caller told police: "My boyfriend shot himself in the face." Jeni, who according to police was 49 years old, died at a nearby hospital. Eisenman said suicide had not been officially confirmed and the investigation was continuing. An autopsy on Jeni was to be done Monday, said Lieut. Fred Corral from the investigation division of the coroner's office. Jeni regularly toured the United States with a standup act and had starred in several HBO comedy specials, most recently A Big Steaming Pile of Me during the 2005-06 season. Another HBO special, Platypus Man, won a Cable ACE award for best standup comedy special and formed the basis for Jeni's UPN sitcom of the same name, which ran for one season. Jeni's movie credits included The Mask, in which he played Jim Carrey's best friend, The Aristocrats, National Lampoon's Dad's Week Off and An Alan Smithee Film: Burn, Hollywood, Burn. He had guest appearances in the TV shows Everybody Hates Chris, Married: With Children and updated versions of the game shows Hollywood Squares and Match Game. Frazer Smith, a standup comedian who often opened for Jeni and the emcee at the Ice House, where Jeni often performed, said young comedians looked up to him. "He was probably one of the best standup comedians in the last 50 years," said Smith. "He had tons and tons of material. He was looked up to by all the young comedians, a total pro." Furio and Tony. Tony and New York. Chris and his drug addiction. Carmela and Furio - all of it is juggled beautifully here. Plus, there are some really dynamite Melfi scenes where Tony starts asking some big questions that tie all the way back to the pilot episode. Joseph Grimaldi, the most famous clown in Britain, made his final appearance at Sadler's Wells Theatre on 17th March, 1829 - the very venue where he'd made his stage debut as a toddler in his father's variety act. He was 48. Crippled with rheumatism, he told his adoring audience: “It is four years since I jumped my last jump, filched my last oyster, boiled my last sausage and set in for retirement.” In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly perform a thigh-slapping round of his hit drinking song ‘Hot Codlins'; explore why Grimaldi's innovations were so influential for all ‘clownkind'; and recall how tragedy was a constant companion for this theatrical legend… Further Reading: • ‘Books: The Pantomime Life of Joseph Grimaldi: Laughter, Madness and the Story of Britain's Greatest Comedian by Andrew McConnell Stott (The Guardian, 2009): https://www.theguardian.com/books/2009/dec/19/simon-callow-biography-grimaldi-review • ‘Joseph Grimaldi Factsheet' (It's Behind You!, The Magic of Pantomime): http://www.its-behind-you.com/Factsheets/Joseph%20Grimaldi%20Factsheet.pdf • ‘Grimaldi: 150 Years On' (Thames News, 1987): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuqlG-_RRSE Content warning: child abuse, staged suicide. #Victorian #Theatre #Sad #UK #London For bonus material and to support the show, visit Patreon.com/Retrospectors We'll be back tomorrow! “Still The Night” Since the early '80s the Wisconsin-bred Bodeans have been playing some of the catchiest and most compelling rock and roll you're likely to hear. With nearly 20 albums to their name including Love and Hope and Sex and Dreams, Outside Looking In, Mr Sad Clown and Still, The Bodeans discography is a riveting blend of American music played with heart and soul and truth. They've had quite a career and it's one that found them opening for U2 on the Joshua Tree tour, playing Farm Aid, recording with Robbie Robertson, being produced by everyone from T. Bone Burnett to Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads, releasing a killer double live album, having a massive hit with "Closer To Free" and touring all over the world. They've gone through many iterations of their lineup, but original member Kurt Neumann is the man holding down the Bodeans legacy and with the addition of legendary drummer Kenny Aaronoff, the Bodeans sound better than ever. In this conversation, Neumann talks to Alex about coping with depression, starting his own podcast and why he loves the Violent Femmes. He also chats about a life-changing epiphany he had at McDonald's... www.bodeans.com Staring At The World With Kurt Neumann Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/11EvIZy3RXLaEFpHrzczaS www.bombshellradio.com Stereo Embers Twitter: @emberseditor Instagram: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

Secrets..the number 7 or success.  The interesting point they pushed in the ad was there were courses tonight by Obama-era economists. This seems very relative and stupidly wrong. Obama claimed his success didn’t come until Trump took over and jobs skyrocketed. So...is the Obama era the Trump era?    We talked about these deep fakes a few episodes ago. And from what we are told Ray Ray may have been in the crowd that night stalking his prey and scouting for weaknesses. From looking at the roster we know that "The Suicide King" will make his presence felt this weekend. But there is still a question as to when we will see "Suicide" again in the Valiant Arena but you can bet Ray will be ready. Also we seen the "Evolution Champion" Josh Cross issue an open challenge for "his" Evolution title. When he would not allow DeMike to answer DeMike switched things up on him and brought out his real opponent for the night. "The Big Man" KToomer answered and he gave Cross absolutely all he could handle! So much so that Cross intentionally had to get himself counted out just so he could escape Toomer's wrath! Speaking of people in foul moods, XKaliber came out and took on Justin Venson and when he lost the match via a quick roll up. He snapped and turned his anger on just about everyone in the building. This included "Sensational" Sara Kay and Michael Carnahan. Putting Sara and a ref through a wooden door in the ring. And then turning his fury on Carnahan who was just doing his job. For his actions The Commisioner Joey Britt has terminated X's contract effective immediately! We were treated to the birth of a new tag team in #FGA as Will Cage and Greyson Beckett not only wrestled one tag team! But they also wrestled a second match against a team making their ASWF return! We will have all the details tomorrow night! Including the epic match between DeMike and Garion Tyr which had fans on the edge of their seats!

Once Matt had wrestled with the big Qs of "Where do we go after this?" and "Why do we do what we do?" in his youth, he found himself more focused on the even bigger picture as as adult: "Where did this all come from?" Now, oscillating between all three and folding these big questions into being a psychiatric nurse, writer, and improviser, he finds the idea that all of existence came from cosmic "shrapnel" inordinately comforting. If it makes no sense as to how we got here in the first place, why not see it through? Matt unpacks how these big questions shape his life as a caretaker, performer, and adult. Notes: One of the stories Matt brought to the show he created at the Annoyance, Sad Clown.

Are you easily offended? It’s time to ask yourself why. Offence is taken, not given. So do comedians really have a responsibility to tip-toe round your sensitivities? Comedy is never a safe space, and yet in a world of Social Justice Warriors, comedians are running scared of saying the ‘wrong’ thing. Is there such a thing as going ‘too far’ in comedy? What does ‘offence’ really mean, and why is the comedy world increasingly cracking down on anyone who isn’t a virtue-signalling leftie? Our guests this week are two brilliant stand-up comedians whose own podcast, Probably Offensive, was immediately banned on iTunes, so they know a thing or two about censorship. We dive into the world of identity politics and discuss why it’s OK to assume people’s race but not their gender; who gets a free-pass to make gay and ethnic jokes; and why Francis is so damn white. Mental health stalks the green rooms of comedy, but Nick rejects the myth of the Sad Clown. Even if anxiety and depression seem all too common in the industry, do we really need to suffer to be funny and creative? Find out why some people become comedians – and why they should always be ugly; just how much mental abuse Francis receives from his mum; and what it’s like opening for Eddie Izzard. Anxiety and mental breakdowns aside, we talk dating apps and the caustic effect they can have on interpersonal communication. Also featuring: Sexism, Daleks, and Sex-Daleks. Find Out More: Nick and Francis’s awesome and hilarious podcast Probably Offensive Nick's Twitter; Francis's Twitter Probably Offensive on Facebook and Twitter Be Silly. Be Kind. Be Weird.

If you’re like many modern men, you might have a pretty good life — a decent job, a family, a home, maybe a few hobbies. Despite having the appearance of a good life, though, you feel kind of empty inside. Like you’re missing something.  My guests today would argue that what you’ve got is a case of Sad Clown Syndrome and to get over it, you need to get together with some men and do some burpees.  Their names are Dave Redding and Tim Whitmire and they’re the leaders of a grassroots movement bringing men together for free workouts called F3, which stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. According to them, they’ve seen tens of thousands of men not only get physically in shape by attending F3 workouts, but reenergize themselves mentally and spiritually.  Today on the show, Dave and Tim share the origins of F3 and how they realized it was solving the problem of Sad Clown Syndrome in the lives of American men. They then detail what the symptoms of Sad Clown Syndrome are, and how exactly F3 acts as a remedy. We then discuss why male friends are so important in a man’s life and why the typical guys that men call friends aren’t really friends. We end our conversation by discussing what the 3 Fs in F3 mean, including why the “Faith” component is more about having a purpose beyond yourself and less about religion.

It's a special episode this week with special guest Brad who joins the boys to talk robots, poor nutrition, pockets and a sad clown painting.  Brad wasn't feeling well, but he showed up for free burgers and a chance to see Ty's shining visage in person.  The professor is the co-host of the Below the Belt Podcast on the Blowout Podcast network, award winning historian, NPR guest and the author of Arredondo: Last Spanish Ruler of Texas and Northeastern New Spain To get things going, Gustav mourns the social media death of Clay from Partial Recall.  RIP Clay.  Brad explains how he carries around a laser pointer.  See if you are as confused as the boys are.  That leads Ty to ask about pocket habits and where each of the guys store their wallets, keys, phones and assorted items. There's some Sam Elliott talk which then leads to Nick Offerman talk and the greatness of Ron Swanson. Ty then offers up a hypothetical based on the movie "Passenger".  It didn't take long for the wheels to go off the rails in this discussion.  Brad loves Brokeback Mountain, but the guys have never seen it, but they take Brad's word for it.  The concept of a robosexual relationship while on space ship is bandied about. Gus had just heard the most recent episode of Brad's Below the Belt podcast and he is fascinated by the lack of knowledge about medicines by both Brad and Ryan.  That leads to fever talk and some scary nutritional practices by Brad, including him eating soup for breakfast. Then Gus unveils a special gift of a sad clown painting for Heavy.   There is a discussion about Family Ties and Tina Yothers.  Not really sure how that happened.  Then Brad tells a story about a celebrity interaction on Twitter.  Ty tries valiantly to make a Sade joke. The boys turn to emails.  Eduardo has an update to the frequent topic of trough urinals.  Gus reminds everyone about the episode of Tell Me Where to Turn where Glen tells his Devil's Bowl Speedway story. Brad tries haiku. Gus makes a stand as a cessati0nist and talks about his run in with painting of Jesus laughing. Then an email from listener Steve wraps things up.
