“Of the 403,272 tank soldiers (including a small number of women) who were trained by the Red Army in the war, 310,000 would die. Even the most optimistic troops knew what would happen when a tank was shelled. The white-hot flash of the explosion would almost certainly ignite the tank crew's fuel and ammunition. At best, the crew—or those at least who had not been decapitated or dismembered by the shell itself—would have no more than ninety seconds to climb out of their cabin. Much of that time would be swallowed up as they struggled to open the heavy, sometimes red-hot, hatch, which might have jammed after the impact anyway. The battlefield was no haven, but it was safer than the armored coffin that would now begin to blaze, its metal components to melt. This was not simply “boiling up.” The tank would also torch the atmosphere around it. By then, there could be no hope for the men inside. Not unusually, their bodies were so badly burned that the remains were inseparable. “Have you burned yet?” was a question tank men often asked each other when they met for the first time. Joining us as our guest this week is Monika Wieland Shields, co-founder and director of Orca Behavior Institute. In addition to talking with Monika about OBI's field research, we spoke about the two different ecotypes of killer whales we see in the waters around the San Juan Islands, the endangered fish-eating Southern Residents and the thriving marine mammal eating Bigg's (formerly known as Transients). We discussed the changing trends in sightings of each population in the area and what is driving these changes.  Monika also shared some information about OBI's new study about killer whales and vessels in the Salish Sea, offering a new perspective on factors influencing incident rates.  As we do on each episode we got into recent whale sightings around the San Juan Islands, including the fascinating, ongoing saga of young Bigg's killer whale T34A1 switching families.  Our next episode will drop on May 30th. As we heard last episode, By 6pm on the 24th August 1981, Battle Group 20 was in control of its objectives, having destroyed at least four tanks and capturing vehicles, guns and ammunition. The fort and water tower, key targets in the town, were eventually reached and taken. The bridge was reached by the combat teams by 17h30 and was immediately prepared with demolition charges by the engineers. It was found later that FAPLA and PLAN officer and their Soviet advisors had hurriedly fled the town while the FAPLA and SWAPO soldiers held their positions and fought furiously. And so the sun had set on a long day's fighting, but Battle Group 20s rest was going to be interrupted in the early hours of the morning. I was part of that group dug in overlooking the river alongside a road out of Xangongo. Before dawn, we began to hear the sound of tanks approaching, the first sound you hear is the deep bellow of the powerful engine, then the squeaking of the tracks. There were T34's approaching. Little did we know that there was another incident that took place in the north when a convoy tried to leave Xangongo and drove into Captain Jan Hougaard's combat team ambushed the troop carriers. Now it was onwards to Ongiva and the commanders once again caucused in the main HQ tent that night. This was going to be another tough nut to crack. The town was defended by two battalions protected by 23mm AA guns, a tank squadron of T34s, as well as an armoured car company with BTR-23s and an artillery battery with both 82m and 76mm field guns. Dippenaars 20 Battle Group was going to spearhead the attack, assaulting from the northwest. He'd then hold the areas taken an allow Serfontein to continue phase two of the attack – swinging past 20 alongside and also striking from the north west.

哈喽大家好！ 这里是《枫言枫语》播客。就快过年啦！我（Justin）和自力在这里先祝大家新年快乐，虎年大吉！ 本期节目非常特别，我们本来录了一个多小时的声音，但是最后我从录音机把文件导出的时候发现它居然只有几百 KB！当时已是凌晨两点多，这下打击实在有点沉重，让我完全失去睡意。 本来我们计划要做一期春节前的节目，跟大家分享我们去年看过的有意思的文化作品，希望可以给春节期间无法回家的小伙伴们带来一点陪伴。但是因为这次录音事故导致节目无法播出。 之前我的录音机已经出现过几次故障，第一次出现是在《Vol. 55 在成都工作和生活是什么体验》这一期，我为此独自重录了我的部分。第二次出现的节目还没播出，但是那次我完美抢救回来了，所以给了我一种蜜汁自信，录音前甚至连backup plan都没有准备，最终促成了这次节目的损失。 即便如此，我们也不希望这期节目完全地消失，所以想要以一种特别的方式给到大家。我们把节目中提及的作品全部收集起来，放在Show Notes里面，希望诸位听众朋友在假期有空的时候，可以从中获得欢乐，获得勇气，在新的一年可以充满热情地追求与探索自己的人生。 顺颂 时祺 时间轴 00:00 有趣的录音事故 03:50 有趣的电视剧们 09:02 有趣的电影们 25:00 有趣的节目预告 27:23 有趣的片尾曲：秒速五厘米 主题曲 一、有趣的电视剧们 1. 《开端》(中国大陆 2022年) → 自力 & Justin 分享 科幻/言情 近期大热的腾讯视频独播剧，主演赵今麦曾出演过《巴拉巴拉小魔仙》，在本剧造型清甜可人，网络可见“金麦郎”之梗（金麦郎成最大赢家？）。 剧情设定的想法很好，时间循环概念，年轻演员的演技稍显青涩但胜在节奏不错，悬念十足，是一部可以一看的国产悬疑电视剧。 时间循环概念的影视作品：《明日边缘》、《源代码》、《意外空间》、《寒蝉鸣泣之时》 2. 《无罪之最 El inocente》(西班牙 2021年) → Justin 分享 悬疑/犯罪 这是一部悬疑电视剧，第一集以鸟瞰的形式带观众粗略走过了整个故事将会发生的时空，并在结尾引发一个巨大的悬念。 接下来的剧集围绕初始悬念展开，几乎每个人物都可以自成一个分支，是一部非常不错的悬疑电视剧。 3. 暗黑 Dark (德国 2017年第一季) → Justin 分享 科幻/悬疑 以科幻为背景的悬疑电视剧，一共三季，第三季在 2020 年播出。制作精良，设计巧妙。故事的重点在与空间不大，人物不算太多的情况下如何设计出错综复杂的人物关系和道德抉择，每一集带来的反转令人咋舌。 因为有科幻元素的加持，人物关系比《无罪之最》更复杂，剧情也更烧脑。 4. 四重奏 カルテット (日本 2017年) → Justin 分享 剧情/稍微有点悬疑 四个心怀音乐梦想的“Loser”聚在一起组成一个四重奏，在梦想与现实之间反复拉扯。编剧坂元裕二也写过 1991 年经典日剧《东京爱情故事》的剧本，帮初出茅庐的铃木保奈美塑造了一个国民级别的莉香角色。《东爱》这部电视剧 Justin 非常喜欢，在博客也写过介绍。 在《四重奏》中，坂元裕二继续发挥他撕碎美好的“痛人”手法，四个小人物的故事在哭笑之间一一展开。女一号松隆子演技出色，女二号满岛光造型甜美，两位男性角色也是演技到位，细节之间见出日本文化中对极致的追求和令人脑洞大开的讨论。 P.S. 这部电视剧的 ED 非常用心，第一次看甚至分不清是剧情还是 ED。是少见的可以不跳 ED 的电视剧。 5. 非自然死亡 アンナチュラル (日本 2018年) → Justin 分享 剧情/悬疑 石原里美出演的经典日剧。“UDI”是负责解剖非正常原因死亡的遗体，协助找出真实死因的民间组织。石原里美饰演解剖医师。这部电视剧的精彩之处在于每一集一个独立故事，表面看一个人可能是因为显而易见的原因死去的，比如溺水。但是尸检结果却往往道出一个惊天大秘密。 6. 国王排名 王様ランキング (日本 2021年) → 自力 & Justin 分享 动画番剧/剧情 英雄王子成长复仇之路的类型动画番剧，2021 年不知道为什么火出圈的大热 IP。小王子波吉与 Loser 卡克的身形在作品中被塑造得极其弱小，相较之下，普通人的体型几乎是他们的五、六倍。 可能是因为波吉的弱小、善良、先天缺陷和可爱的造型，再加上他的英雄成长之路，给很多人以共鸣和勇气，所以这部番剧才会火起来吧。 7. 鬼灭之刃·游郭篇 （日本 2021年）→ 自力 & Justin 分享 动画番剧/热血 鬼灭 2019 年一经播出就是大热番，2021 年出了新的续集《游郭篇》。这部番剧的主题框架跟热血番类似，也是身负巨大潜能的少年英雄，被迫踏上成长之路。 几位主要角色个性鲜明，各有惹人喜爱的特点。动画经费很足，战斗场面十分炫酷，可以一追。 8. 见面五秒开始战斗 (日本 2021年) → 自力 分享 奇幻/冒险 非常奇特的异世界设定，每个人会有一句话描述的技能，之后全屏高智商的发挥，确实做到了见面就开打的热血，这部爽剧一度还因为尺度原因被禁播停播了，这就更引起人的好奇了。 9. 鱿鱼游戏 (韩国 2021年) → 自力 分享 悬疑/惊悚 去年现象级的出圈的韩剧，大逃杀题材，差点年会的 Cosplay 就要选剧里的服装了，还好某宝不让卖。据说今年会拍第二部，也很值得期待。 二、有趣的电影们 1. 失控玩家 Free Guy （美国 2021年）→ 自力 & Justin 分享 科幻/游戏/爆米花电影 制作精良的商业娱乐大片，节奏紧凑，结构清晰。娱乐大片该有的搞笑、对立、爱情、反转和特效大场面都齐备了。Justin写过一篇影评: 漫无目的 06 - 我看电影《失控玩家》 2. 沙丘 (美国 2021年) → 自力 & Justin 分享 科幻 年度大戏，五星好评，无需多言。我们这期节目有详细讨论，传送门： Vol. 50 沙丘 2021 3. 芬奇 Finch (美国 2021年) → 自力 & Justin 分享 科幻/苹果 2021 年苹果制作了不少优秀的电影，这一部设定在末日废土背景，孤独的主角与基于 AI 的初生机器人共同逃难的遭遇。讨论的话题不新，还机器人于人性之类。背景设定有点像 Will Smith 2007 年出演的优秀电影《我是传奇》（I Am Legend）。 4. 天鹅挽歌 Swan Song (美国 2021年) → Justin 分享 科幻/剧情 主演马赫沙拉·阿里曾出演过《绿皮书》里的黑人钢琴家唐雪莉，演技优秀。这部电影讨论的是死亡与亲情的话题，整体节奏比较缓慢，主角面临万难抉择时代入感很强。 5. 盲琴师 (波兰 2019) → 自力 分享 剧情/传记 讲述了一位天才盲人钢琴家对抗不公命运的传奇故事。被命运几经捉弄，几乎毫无还手之力的弱者，唯一能够用来反抗的，便是他的音乐，音乐是他重新认识、沟通世界并且对抗不公命运的唯一途径…… 6. 骇人来电 Calls (美国 2021年) → Justin 分享 科幻/悬疑/苹果 这里是后期的Justin: 纠正一下，其实这是一部电视剧，不是电影，当时讲错了，但是为了跟语音保持一致所以还是放在这里。 苹果 Apple TV 上映的一部形式上非常有创意的电影，全程没有出现一个真人画面。电影情节主体由声音对话构成，画面则采用多元的视觉化元素，有音频波形，有文本消息等等。根据情节的发展和节奏不同，视觉元素也会产生相应的诸多变化。 情节设定虽然算不上出彩，但也还蛮有趣，创意无敌，值得一看。 7. 误杀 (中国 2019年) → Justin 分享 悬疑/犯罪 翻拍自印度电影《误杀瞒天记》，因为众所周知的原因，故事背景设定在泰国而非国内。剧情本身设计得比较优秀，悬念十足，整体节奏也把握得很好。再加上导演本身在剧中夹带私货，提及和致敬了前辈的优秀作品，算是一部值得一看的国产悬疑片。 8. 困在时间里的父亲 The Father **** （英国/法国 2021年）→ Justin 分享 剧情 安东尼·霍普金斯 （Anthony Hopkins）演技超神之作，看得人真的揪心。利用普通的拍摄手法代入阿兹海默症患者的视角的时空，感染力十足。 9. 你好李焕英 (中国 2021) → 自力 分享 剧情/喜剧 改编自贾玲在《欢乐喜剧人》里的同名小品《你好，李焕英》，笑点密集，感情充沛，是贾玲先给母亲的礼物，也是非常适合全家观看的温情电影。 10. 驾驶我的车 ドライブ・マイ・カー （日本 2021年）→ Justin 分享 剧情 改编自村上春树短篇小说集《没有女人的男人们》的其中一篇。演员的演技，拍摄的画面，整体的氛围营造都非常精彩。当然主旨表达也跟村上一贯的小说一样：让人看得一头雾水。 看到主角推开日式传统旅馆的木窗，濑户内海映入眼帘那一幕，看到主角驾驶红色的萨博小车，在蜿蜒的岸边一面驾驶一面念话剧台词的那一幕，沉浸其中，听着话剧台词与故事发展娓娓，一时不知是话剧的情节还是电影的情节。 11. 心灵奇旅 Soul (美国 2020年) → Justin 分享 动画/音乐 2020 年 Pixar 制作，迪士尼发行的这部动画片在国内首映是 12 月 25 日，很多人应该都是 2021 年 1 月去看的。主角是一名中学音乐教师，乔伊·高纳，一直心怀爵士乐梦想而不得。一天突遭意外身亡，却心有不甘，千方百计要回到人世。 又是一部现实与梦想拉扯的作品，跟《四重奏》相比，这部电影的整体基调要柔和一些，也是一部非常动人的作品。配乐也是本作的一大特色。 12. 牯岭街少年杀人事件 （中国台湾 1991年）→ Justin 分享 剧情/犯罪 这是一部有点门槛的作品，时长接近 4 个小时。故事背景是国民党刚到台湾的时候。改编自当时的真实事件，导演以写实的手法，还原了那个年代的诸多细节。 剧情虽然有些看不懂，但是整体的写实风格非常有意思，男主角是年轻时的小男孩张震，他也在 2021 年的电影《沙丘》中出演岳医生一角。 13. 法兰西特派 The French Dispatch (美国/德国 2021年) → Justin 分享 剧情 一部拍摄手法颇具特色的作品。故事发生在一座虚构的 20 世纪法国城市，拍摄时很多场景是室内布景，打光，构图极具艺术性。故事情节多有诙谐和讽刺之感。蕾雅·赛杜 (Léa Seydoux)出演其中一个故事，美女非常好看。 14. 猎杀T34（俄罗斯 2019年）→ Justin 分享 战争/动作 T34是苏联于二战前研发的中型坦克，电影的背景是在二战时期苏联与德国对战的前线。主要还是一部热血爽片，看作为坦克长的主角如何带领几个人组成的坦克小团队，用一台 T34 冲出重围。 用坦克打架的场景是本作的一绝，现场张力非常强，主角和死对头之间的战术较量看得人血脉贲张，是一部非常不错的动作爽片，只不过不是用拳脚，而是用炮弹。 节目中提到基努里维斯的枪斗术电影：疾速追杀 John Wick 15. 速度与激情 9 (美国 2021年) → 自力 分享 动作/犯罪 2021 年看的第一部爽片，适合喜欢汽车和爆米花爽片的朋友，看豪车，无脑爽就完了，结尾真的大为震撼，就不剧透了。 三、有趣的书籍们 书的部分比较闷，我们就不说太多了，有兴趣的小伙伴可以看 Justin 写的 《枫影夜读 #24 - It involved two different attacks – one by air on Cassinga and the second a ground assault by a mechanised battle group targeting Chetequera and its satellite bases further south. Cassinga was 250 kilometers across the border – the cutline – so this was going to be tricky from the start. We heard last episode about the high risk factor and as with many airborne assaults, this one was not going to go too well for the South Africans at times – while the chaotic extraction saw T34 tanks making it all the way to a key helicopter administration Area and the final minutes were touch and go. First Cassinga. It could be compared to the size of Oshakati at the time. There were many civilians amongst the troops and this was going to cause the SADF quite a bit of trouble as they bombed then assaulted this medium sized Angolan urban area. A large number of women were being trained as soldiers here and many were training as a family – in other words their husbands or partners and their children were also living alongside. It's a bit like the SADF base at Voortrekkehoogte in Pretoria. While it is a training area for different army commands, there are also schools. By the way Voortrekkehoogte was targeted by the ANC's MK and the PAC's Apla over the years. Civilians living openly inside a military zone often end up as collateral damage.

I have four older siblings but consider Rheed McCracken to be the younger brother I never had. He lives around the corner from me now, we shared the same coach and he's had to put up with my cooking and look after my kids... Rheed is a four time Paralympic medallist and is in Tokyo chasing the elusive gold in the men's T34 100m and 800m. I met Rheed as a shy teenager, but these days he doubles his wheelchair racing career with a spot on fashion runways!

In the twenty second  episode of season three of the Her Spirit podcast BBC Breakfast Louise Minchin and BBC Triathlon presenter Annie Emmerson talk to five-time Paralympic Champion, and one of Britain's best-known para-athletes Hannah Cockcroft MBE.Hannah suffered two heart attacks within the first 24 hours of her life. These cardiac arrests left her with multiple areas of brain damage and a collapsed lung, with doctors questioning how the damage would affect her quality of life.Yet, the problematic birth only helped in making Hannah a determined child. Raised alongside her brothers, Joshua and Daniel, she was never treated any differently to her able-bodied siblings. Hannah's parents, Graham and Rachel, took every opportunity they could to get Hannah up onto her feet, strapping her into Kay-walkers, splints, twisters and standing frames. Hannah was first introduced to para-sport at 12 years old, when the Cardinals wheelchair basketball team performed a demonstration at her secondary school. From this moment, she was hooked. At the 2007 School Games, run by the Youth Sports Trust, Hannah first witnessed wheelchair racing, whilst she competed for Yorkshire as a seated discus athlete. Invited to try out racing later that year at a British Athletics talent ID day, Dr Ian Thompson, husband of Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, put her in her first racing wheelchair and ran her through her first laps of the athletics track. Hannah made her senior debut for Great Britain at 18 years old, representing her country at the World Championships in New Zealand in January 2011. Despite having only been competing for three years, Hannah became double World Champion, in the T34 100m and 200m.The following summer, the world saw Hannah Cockroft line up at her debut Paralympics, the London 2012 Games. Cockroft took the world stage by storm, racing to victory over the T34 100m and 200m once again and setting two Paralympic Records in the process. Having become double Paralympic Champion on the home stage she was dubbed ‘Hurricane Hannah' by the British media. An MBE followed in the 2013 New Years' Honours.Since then, Hannah's lists of achievements have continued to grow.  Hannah is the most decorated British athlete in World Championship history, with 12 World Champion titles to her name. She repeated her Paralympic success at Rio 2016, bringing home gold in the T34 100m, 400m and 800m, that same year adding three European Champion gold medals to her trophy cabinet. Hannah is currently the T34 World Record holder in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m.Off the track, Hannah's personality has seen her invited onto shows such as ‘The Great British Bake Off', ‘The Crystal Maze' and ‘Strictly Come Dancing', which she won with her partner on the show, Pasha. Carly Tait is a British wheelchair athlete specialising in sprint and middle distance events in the T34 classification. Tait took up wheelchair racing in 2012, after being inspired by the Summer Paralympics in London. She was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2016 IPC Athletics European Championships in Grosseto and won silver medals at two distances, the 100 m and 400 m events. Episode 4: Tackling Disability Stigma with Hannah Cockcroft The 2012 Paralympic Games in London were seen as a turning point for disability in the UK. The games broke multiple records and created a huge shift in attitudes and perceptions towards those with disabilities, yet some stigma and discrimination still remain. One of the athletes from those games, joins Gareth and Craig to talk about stigma. Wheelchair racer Hannah Cockcroft MBE won two Gold Medals at the games in London in T34 100m and 200m races. Since then she's won three more Gold Medals in Rio alongside her 11 World Championship Golds. Since losing the ability to walk at an early age, Hannah has faced challenges at many points in her life, between the low funding and treatment of Para Athletes to the lack of accessibility to public places, it's been a tough journey. Listen as she tells us more about those challenges, the stigma she's battled and how passionate she is about ensuring anyone with a disability has access to sport. 12月11日，俄罗斯二战坦克题材电影《猎杀T34》即将登陆内地院线。而本片的主角，T-34坦克作为二战时期苏联红军的经典装备，令无数军事爱好者为其着迷。在本期节目中，我们请到了大尉老师，他将为我们讲述这辆经典战车从战前的最初设计，到卫国战争时期正式驶入战场的故事。

Jim attended the University of Kansas and enrolled in Navy ROTC. Although he was promised an assignment as a pilot, he was initially assigned as a Naval Flight Officer (back seater). He flew the EA-6B Prowler out of Whidbey Island, WA. In the EA-6B, he flew combat missions in Bosnia.  After his assignment, he finally got his slot to pilot training. As a pilot, he flew the EC-3, and electronic version of the P-3. He followed that assignment as a T-34 instructor in the Naval Training Command at Corpus Christi, TX. He flew 700 hours per year. He loved being an instructor, and decided that would be his future. He flew as an instructor for 15 years, amassing 3600 hours in the aircraft. After the Navy, Jim worked for an aerospace engineering company in Corpus Christi and flew for the Reserves. He enjoyed the environment at the engineering company, but missed full-time flying. For a short time he flew for JetBlue Airlines, but after a short time he had to leave for a family emergency. After JetBlue, he went to Iraq as a volunteer Individual Augmentee in the reserves. He was embedded with the army looking for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).  After Iraq, he flew 10 2-month tours in Afghanistan as a contractor flying King Air aircraft. He became an instructor almost immediately. Finally, Jim was hired by a legacy airline, where he now flies. Jim has written his autobiography, Plans That Make God Laugh.

Where they struck up a conversation about Paralympic wheelchair racing great Kurt Fearnley, and Kochi, who has known Kurt for years, offered Rheed the opportunity of a lifetime when he challenged him to compete against Kurt in a wheelchair race in Sydney.Not long after that Rheed fell in love with the sport and became youngest member of the Australian team at the London 2012 Paralympic Games where he won a bronze and silver medals in the 100m and 200m T34 events.In 2017 at the Swiss National Championships he set a new world record in the Men's 100m T34 with a time of 14.92 sec. Estos botes blindados, construidos en 1938, se derivaron del BKA de 1124, tenían una torreta de carro de combate, en principio del T-28, y siempre estaban propulsados por dos motores de gasolina, desde motores rusos a motores Packard norteamericanos de la Ley de Préstamo y Arrendo. Aproximadamente 20 estaban en servicio antes de la invasión alemana, y los otros fueron construidos del 1942 a 1944. En total hasta 270 unidades, aunque no se sabe exactamente. En 1943, sus torretas de T34 eran las del modelo T34 / 85, con mayor alcance. Algunos tenían lanzacohetes, otros ametralladoras pesadas, otros lanzacohetes, otros raíles minadores... Estos cañoneros fluviales, siendo una solución de fabricación barata y sencilla, fueron muy efectivos y superaron con creces las tareas encomendadas, desde tomar el control del lago Ladoga durante el sitio de Leningrado, o defender a los convoyes del Volga en Stalingrado, o mantener a raya a los japoneses en el Amur. Episode 16: Selective Perspective examines further the American policy towards South Korea in late spring 1950. We open the episode with the arrival of America's ambassador to South Korea John J Muccio (pictured) returning home, to plead in person for the things that Seoul desperately needed. While Muccio did this, the Truman administration set about crafting a perfectly coordinated image of its approach to South Korea, be that through suggestive magazine interviews or tactically ignoring Muccio's recommendations, while giving the impression that he had been listened to.If the order of the day was to stall Muccio, and to momentarily ease Syngman Rhee's fears, then it was mission accomplished.As the Truman administration well understood, their policy towards Korea was being watched by the communists, and any signs of hesitation, of a reluctant or unwillingness to support Rhee's regime could all be construed as signals that Washington wouldn't put up much of a fight if the North invaded. This was what Kim Il-sung wanted to hear, and it was also exactly what Washington wanted him to hear. Faced with these bits of evidence, Kim would invade South Korea convinced of the American weakness and hesitation, only to face a total buzzsaw.The US did have some cause for concern though, when intelligence was received that underlined the sheer number of armoured columns collecting in North Korea. While they required a Northern invasion and an allied holding action, there was a danger that the North would push the allies off the peninsula entirely if the hundreds of T34 tanks burst over the 38th parallel. Thus, Washington engaged in some other policies, seemingly at odds with their plan to sabotage South Korea's defensive capabilities. Task forces, air and naval forces and other preparations would be made. Even while it would seem that the US was unprepared when the North attacked, the arrival of more soldiers in the nick of time in several areas would, hopefully, be enough to plug the gaps. In this episode I’m looking at the giant soviet T-35 tank with Francis Pulham. As you will discover the T-35 was a peculiar vehicle with five turrets, very few were ever produced and almost all were knocked out very early in the war. Francis is the author of Fallen Giants, The Combat Debut of the T-35a tank. "The T-35 was a Soviet multi-turreted heavy tank of the interwar period and early Second World War that saw limited production and service with the Red Army. It was the only five-turreted heavy tank in the world to reach production, but proved to be slow and mechanically unreliable. Most of the T-35 tanks still operational at the time of Operation Barbarossa were lost due to mechanical failure rather than enemy action. Outwardly, it was large; but internally, the spaces were cramped with the fighting compartments separated from each other. Some of the turrets obscured the entrance hatches." wikipedia

In episode three, Hannah Cockroft MBE talks about what it feels like to win and what success means to her. Undefeated for 7 years, she talks candidly about losing to Kare Adenegan in 2015 and why she is so determined to stay at the top of her sport for as long as possible. Hannah Cockroft MBE has won every major title she has competed for since making her international debut in 2011, dominating the T34 wheelchair racing class. Most recently she has won 3 gold medals in the Rio Paralympics, achieving success in 100m, 400m and 800m races. This week is a bit different. I've got my co-worker in DC, Shahed Chowdhuri on the show, along with Pek Pongpaet (pong-pat) and Daniel Pesina. Shahed and Pek grew up together, and Pek met Daniel while studying at his Wushu.  Daniel played Johnny Cage and ninjas Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, and Noob Saibot in several Mortal Kombat games, and Pek has worked on 6 MK games spanning 10 years.   Master Pesina is perhaps most famous for his work as Johnny Cage and the ninjas in the first two Mortal Kombat games. He has also worked on films such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze, Book of Swords, Press Start, and Mortal Kombat Fates Beginning, winner of the 2015 Urban Action Showcase Best MK Film award.   Pesina appeared as one of Shredder's foot soldiers in the 1991 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.   Pongpaet’s expertise ranges from product design and development, and martial arts. Prior to Pinstagram, Pongpaet was VP of Product at Spoton, a loyalty and social media company. He's worked at Accenture Technology Labs in the research department coming up with next generation user interfaces.   He was introduced to  Chinese martial arts (Wushu) late in life when he met Master Daniel Pesina in 1998. He opened Pek to a new world of skill, discipline, artistry and mastery that would come to consume and permeate all of his life.
