Mitochondria might be one of the most important organelles inside our cells. Best known as the cell's powerhouse, they don't just make energy; they regulate metabolism, control cell death, drive immune function, and may even be the reason multicellular life exists at all! It's no surprise they're implicated in nearly every major disease, from heart disease and cancer to neurodegeneration, especially as they decline with age. What if we could slow or even reverse that decline by giving cells fresh, healthy mitochondria? That's the promise of mitochondrial transplantation—a groundbreaking approach Mitrix Bio is pioneering. In this episode, I talk with CEO Tom Benson about the science, the potential, and the early results from people already lining up for their trial.Episode Show Notes: https://livelongerworld.com/p/tbensonFind me: https://x.com/aasthajs My longevity products: https://www.livelongerworld.com/p/2024TIMESTAMPS:00:00 - Injecting new mitochondria into your body01:39 - Mitochondria's evolutionary role in aging04:35 - What happens to old mitochondria?06:18 - Why humans live longer than other animals11:30 Why cardiovascular disease is #1 killer12:30 - Why does the brain remain sharp with age?15:30 Why does energy decline after age 30?19:04 Why doesn't the body correct mitochondrial mutations?22:42 Mitochondrial defects in children24:14 Diagnostics for mitochondrial health27:36 Mitochondrial DNA is eternal33:18 Where does mitochondria come from in mitochondrial transplantation?34:59 Growing mitochondria in a bioreactor39:07 How neurons grow their mitochondria40:52 Mitochondrial theory of cancer44:23 Mitochondria and psychobiology48:32 Chemotherapy and radiation damage mitochondria50:38 Evidence that mitochondrial transplantation works56:06 Caloric restriction, sauna, sunlight, and mitochondria1:00:01 Mitochondria and races1:02:57 Why stop at 130 years old?1:04:48 Why might this not work?1:10:03 Volunteers for Mitrix trialAASTHA, LIVE LONGER WORLD:X: https://x.com/aasthajs Newsletter: https://livelongerworld.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aasthajs/Mitrix Bio: https://mitrix.bio/Tom Benson: https://mitrix.bio/team/tom-benson/RELATED:New Spin to the Free Radical Theory of Aging: https://www.livelongerworld.com/p/rosKeto & Metabolic Therapy for Cancer | Dr. Thomas Seyfried: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7tYdjcJ3G4tqbAx9Z6Bix2?si=biOOH1e5RpeZduLJv2fPHwBoost Mitochondria with Sunlight and Infrared light: https://open.spotify.com/episode/1jGfhzX1P245LU2kLwgHTq?si=yPOC3bViRnmOUeR-P0jeWA

What if we could reset our cellular batteries? In this fascinating deep dive into cutting-edge longevity science, Tom Benson from Mitrix Bio reveals how mitochondrial transplantation could revolutionize how we treat age-related diseases and potentially add decades of healthy living to our lives. The conversation begins by exploring the extraordinary nature of mitochondria – those tiny power plants within our cells that generate 95% of our body's energy through molecular rotors functioning like miniature jet turbines. With approximately a quadrillion mitochondria comprising 10% of our body weight, these ancient organelles trace back to a symbiotic merger with our cellular ancestors over a billion years ago.Unlike the nuclear DNA we inherit from both parents, our mitochondrial DNA comes almost exclusively from our mothers, creating fascinating maternal lineage patterns where thousands of family members share identical mitochondrial DNA. As we age, this mitochondrial DNA gradually accumulates damage, with factors like stress, smoking, and medical treatments accelerating deterioration. By our 90s, this decline reaches a critical threshold that appears to drive much of the aging process. The most exciting revelation comes in learning that mitochondria naturally move between cells in our bodies – and scientists are now leveraging this phenomenon through transplantation techniques. By harvesting mitochondria from stem cells grown in bioreactors and reinjecting them, researchers are seeing remarkable improvements in cognition, strength, and immune function in aged mice, essentially restoring youthful cellular energy levels. Human trials are already underway, though still at small scale. For anyone fascinated by the frontiers of longevity science and the quest to not just add years to life, but life to those years, this conversation offers a glimpse into one of the most promising approaches emerging today. https://mitrix.bio/Lies I Taught In Medical School : Free sample chapter- https://www.robertlufkinmd.com/lies/Complete Metabolic Heart Scan (20% off 'LUFKIN20') https://www.innerscopic.com/Fasting Mimicking Diet (20% off) https://prolonlife.com/Lufkin At home blood testing (20% off) https://siphoxhealth.com/lufkinMimio Health (15% off 'LUFKIN') https://mimiohealth.sjv.io/c/5810114/2745519/30611 Web: https://robertlufkinmd.com/X: https://x.com/robertlufkinmdYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/robertLufkinmdInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertlufkinmd/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertlufkinmd/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@robertlufkinThreads: https://www.threads.net/@robertlufkinmdFacebook: ...

An episode from THE BIBLE Baptist Church, a Bible believing, Bible preaching church in DeLand, Florida. What THE BIBLE Baptist Church (TBBC) Believes:“A church is not a social organization or a club. It is a gathering of men and women who have put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. These people meet together to worship the Lord, to praise Him, to encourage one another to live lives pleasing to the Savior and to be instructed in the truths of the Holy Bible. It is also a place from which these believers go forth, individually and in groups, to spread the gospel of Christ Jesus to men and women the world over. The extent to which the blessing of the Lord abides upon a church and the effectiveness of a church in the aforementioned areas depends upon its understanding of and obedience to the words of God. There are certainly clearly stated truths found in scripture to which all believers must steadfastly adhere. A collection of individuals, each living in accord with their opinions or religious notions, can accomplish little for Christ. A gathering of men and women who have a like-minded faith in a foundational set of Biblical truths can do great things for the Lord.Below are those truths upon which we have built THE BIBLE Baptist Church.Should you have other questions please feel free to ask. Our people and leaders are available and more than happy to let you know what we do and why. Find the truth today as ObjectivelyDan and Tom Benson transform into book publisher coaches right before our eyes. They work through ideas of book contests, Batman, religious practices, and inspiring theists to do things on their own. Miguel in NH started the call with a book writing idea that he has been working on for years and includes a contest. How will this book be written and what is the plan? He then postulates that his approach to time travel will destroy the only universe we have and that will reboot science fiction. Why do you believe that this universe is the only universe we have? Is the multiverse idea supported by the fine tuning argument? What would change your mind about there being other universes? Chloe in PA asks if theists can move away from the god claim and work on their religious practices. He asks if religious practices can lead theists down a slippery slope. Beliefs can be bad things when they are tied to unprovable ideas like god. Therefore it is still important to talk about whether god exists or not because this belief is tied to a lot of other beliefs. Rituals are worth examining to see if they are helpful or harmful. What are your motivations for these practices and what is worth keeping? How can we find something that can bring you joy that does not pose the same danger of believing in untrue things? Why do you need the god claim for these things? There are plenty of things for you to do but you just need to get creative with it. Religious beliefs are not a form of mental illness, however, it is always good to think about what you are doing and why. What are the spiritual priorities? When beliefs inspire action we need to be careful especially when there is an underlying god belief. Nathan in OH is writing a book about Batman and wants to talk about how to be an inspiration to others to do things on their own without relying on god to tell them what to do. We are not sure about how the copyrights work with something like this. Sometimes people's engagement in religious practice is their way of doing good and is their understanding of morality. You can ask people about their motivations to determine if it is what their god wants or not. Ask yourself if you can be a source of reflection for people. How can you be a pebble in their shoes? Thank you for finding the truth this week and always keep wanting the truth! Question of the week is: What sounds like a compliment, but isn't? With less than 2 months until the start of training camp for the Saints, we have had plenty of local opinions on what might happen in the 2024 season. Now, it's time to get a neutral expert from outside of the New Orleans area. How will Klint Kubiak's offense be different from Pete Carmichael? Will Derek Carr thrive, and will Taysom Hill play a larger role? Jim Derry has plenty of questions for one of the football world's top handicappers in Adam Chernoff, who joins Friday's Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 245) presented by Evangeline Securities. We also talk Saints over/under win totals, and Jim asks Adam for some surprise teams in the NFL this upcoming season. Spoiler alert: One of them is in the NFC South. Jim also talks a little about LSU baseball, and in the ‘Extra Point,' we go back 39 years to quite possible the most important day in the history of the Saints: The day Tom Benson bought the team for a measly $70.2 million.
Dak Prescott. Jalen Hurts. Kirk Cousins. Patrick Mahomes. These are the quarterbacks the New Orleans Saints will have to face in succession over a four-game stretch early in the season. Can they navigate through that and find a way to a successful start? This is the No. 1 question posed by host Jim Derry to Times-Picayune and The Advocate sports columnist Rod Walker on a special, schedule-release Thursday edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 240) presented by Evangeline Securities. They also will talk about best- and worst-case scenarios, what the Saints need to do to make this season better than the past two and make their “far too early” predictions for 2024. And in the ‘Extra Point,' Jim goes back 39 years to a day when the future of the team was very much on the brink of whether they would remain in New Orleans and what Gov. Edwin Edwards did to step in and help save the efforts for Tom Benson to buy the Saints.
Understanding the earth processes that control lithium is key to exploration and developing the resources needed for society and the energy transition. The lightest of the metals, lithium moves easily in fluids and is found in a variety of geologic environments from brines to pegmatites to clays. Host Anne Thompson explores the geoscience of lithium, assessing what we know and what are the challenges in the quest to supply the lithium needed by human society. Our three guests provide insights into the variety of lithium sources that potentially allow for geographically distributed supply. We talked first to Rebecca Paisley, a geochemist with WSP Canada, to consider the diversity of lithium bearing brines and the fundamental nature of the metal. Its natural affinity to partition into the liquid phase means that lithium occurs in salty salar brines, a variety of geothermal brines and oil field brines. The value of your brine, however, also depends on the end-product required and the steps needed to extract it from the solution. Rebecca connects the value of lithium in brines to the whole mining circle. Bob Linnen, Chief Geologist – Lithium, KoBold Metals, spent his academic career studying pegmatites and now continues to develop his ideas through global exploration. The high grades in lithium pegmatites make them appealing targets for exploration, and better positioned to survive big fluctuations in commodity price. Not all pegmatites, however, are created equal and much is still being learned about this important host for lithium resources as the mineral system view evolves.Koopmans et al., 2023Lastly, we talked to Tom Benson, VP Global Exploration for Lithium Argentina. Tom thought he was going to be an academic after completing a PhD on Thacker Pass, Nevada, USA, but an opportunity to engage in research and exploration was too good to pass up. His work includes active collaboration with researchers around the world as well as exploration for new deposits. Tom frames the occurrence of lithium in clays at Thacker Pass within the context of volcano-sedimentary systems. The deposit has unique features, including the presence of higher grade illite in addition to lithium-bearing smectite. Benson et al., 2023New research globally focused on lithium resources continues to push our understanding and highlight the importance of its volatile nature in the ways in which it is concentrated and trapped. Next week is the last episode of Season 4 – we will head to Namibia, host to the SEG 2024 conference September 27-30, to explore the diverse geology and mineral deposits and hear about what the conference has in store. Many thanks to our season 4 sponsor, Anglo American. Our theme music is Confluence, by Eastwinds.
Welcome to Talk Heathen! In today's episode of the show our host Jimmy Jr. is joined by returning guest host Tom Henson. Our first caller Phil in the Lone Star State to discuss the Plastic Reindeer Rule, a Supreme Court Case which ruled, yes you can have a nativity scene on public property, but must display other decor of the holiday season. So elves, reindeers, Santa, and extend it also to other religious symbiology associated with their holiday traditions as well. This led into further debate on the Establishment Clause and the nuances wherein.Sergei gives our hosts a call from Canada, an atheist who wants to discuss how humanism works with an objective morality system. Now, since morality is subjective doesn't it mean, we humans choose our morality? Jimmy and Tom explain how secular humanism can fit into objective morality as it could be the closest we can get to an objective moral perspective.Truth666 in Maryland calls to comment on Phil's repeat calls to the show. Phil claims he is an atheist, but Truth666 doesn't believe an atheist could even want to go to a church.. Phil had explained his church was progressive and gave him community and support. Truth 666 still expresses her skepticism is due to doctrine and scared for the hatred that may lay below the sunny disposition.Joshua from South Carolina is our third caller to a possible rise of neo-natalism in atheist circles. Jimmy and Tom highlight the position of a lot of atheists to let people choose what they want to do for their lives as long as they aren't causing harm to others or themselves.

I've been threatening to bring Tom Benson into the LawnStars dungeon since I first started the podcast but it has taken a while to convince him to join me. Tom runs Tink's Mowers with the main store in Newcastle and a store in Rutherford and one in Macksville on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Tom is one of the few dealers that really puts a big focus on serving contractors. Tom has put a lot of thought into how he can serve contractors and what it takes for contractors to run a lawncare business.

In today's episode of Talk Heathen, Secular Rarity is joined by Tom Benson. You can find more from Tom at https://howeverwegothere.com/First caller is John in TX and asks why we do this show. Talking to callers like you! We want to engage in conversations to affect change. The call morphs to John claiming god is a philosophical, not scientific, conversation. Well, religion causes actual harm in the world. We just don't have any good reasons to believe in any god. Matt in CA announces the Secular Student Alliance National Conference on June 16-18 in St Louis, MO on the University of St Louis campus. Get your tickets NOW at https://secularstudents.org/conference/2023conference/Nathan in FL presents instinctual evidence of a god. He claims that people, even atheists, calling out “oh my god” is evidence of a god. That is a very localized expression, other religions often call out something different. Those religions are often contradictory to christianity. Rob in CO doesn't understand why theists have difficulty seeing the bad stuff that comes with their religious beliefs. People tend to lean to simple answers that don't take much work. All we can do is challenge those beliefs and hope we can make a change. Jay in the USA asks who or what is responsible for world wide education. People have passed along methods to further education and eliminate fallacious thinking. Rob in NC brings up examples of the fine tuning argument. Science communicators tend to tone down their public presentations and minimize insider jargon when presenting to the public. We don't understand everything about the universe and postulate hypotheses to investigate. Thank you for tuning in today! In episode 83 I have a conversation with a skilled interviewer who talks to me about my three decade “journey” in the lithium world. Topics include: Current lithium “state of play” False lithium narratives The EU battery build out and need for interdependence in lithium supply Why do some contemplating EU conversion projects feel carbonate, rather than spodumene, is the best route to battery quality hydroxide? Why the lithium industry continues to be so misunderstood Barriers to investment Is Elon Musk “worth his salt” with respect to lithium? The future of the cost curve Why I will never catch up with my daughter's presence on social media What is my favorite “type” of lithium? Why the next lithium shortage will last for years? The problem with feasibility studies Why partners matter Urban Mining Ganfeng's strategy Shout outs to Jon Evans, Dr. Tom Benson and Chris Reed Why I like LAC and hope Standard Lithium succeeds
Joe and Emily are joined in Los Angeles by the newly minted “geek squad,” the label intended as the ultimate compliment to four technical experts. All are veterans of the podcast. We are guided through the lithium value chain from the ground to lithium chemicals to cathode and ultimately the battery. Dr. Tom Benson of Lithium Americas shares how lithium is formed inside the earth, and how the fact that lithium “Can't Be Tamed” is what makes it so practical for batteries. Dr. Yuan Gao of Pulead and now a Lithium Americas Board Member takes us through extracting lithium from raw materials and making cathodes. Dr. Gao, or the “Lithium OG”, explains the concept of excess lithium and why it matters even more in a high nickel world. Dr. Dr. Rene LeBlanc of Lithium Americas explains how the process to separate lithium can be the reverse of how it's formed, and shares how the physical separation process for the sedimentary material at Thacker Pass is like the process for extracting gold.. Dan Blondal of Nano One explains the different purposes served by cobalt, as a stabilizer of layered nickel structure or active material in LCO batteries. We give a shout out to the Real Clear Politics discussion of Minerals: The Overlooked Foundations of our Future, where Emily was a panelist and felt like she knew the cool kids when Alexi Zawadski and Thacker Pass were name dropped by Carl Cannon, Executive Editor & Washington Bureau Chief of RealClearPolitics, as a carbon-neutral project. Our guests close with what they experience as most misunderstood lithium myths, and as always we end with rapid fire questions.
