Reimagining Healing with Ruth Culver

On today's podcast, I chat with Ruth Culver, a Level 3 trained and certified IFS practitioner. We look at Ruth's Survive and Thrive Spiral, a visual map that connects the nervous system and IFS in a way that just makes sense. We also talk about her work with IFS Constellations, a group process that brings parts work into a shared, somatic experience, and Drawing into Self, a creative way to explore and externalize parts through colors, lines, and shapes. Key Takeaways: “Parts all have stories, don't they?” Ruth explains how mapping parts onto her Survive and Thrive Spiral can help people unblend and understand their nervous system responses. How can we recognize if we're in Flop, Fix, or Flow? Ruth introduces these simple but powerful words to track nervous system states and move toward Self Energy. We can be in multiple nervous system states at the same time.  Ruth describes how different parts may be in fixing mode, collapsing mode, or Self Energy mode—all at once. How does IFS Constellations allow for deeper healing? Ruth shares how this group process creates profound moments of witnessing, connection, and transformation. What happens when we let parts express themselves through drawing? Ruth walks us through Drawing into Self, a process that invites parts to communicate beyond words. Favorite Quote: "So, to me, the healing process is story-based, and it is imaginative. At the core of healing is a reimagining. And that's what we can do with story." – Ruth Culver About Ruth:   Ruth Culver is a Level 3 trained & Certified IFS Practitioner based in Brighton UK, working with adolescents, adults and groups in private practice. After 25 years in charity event management, she burned out, re-trained as a hypnotherapist then found IFS in 2017. Her passion for embodiment and externalisation has led to 3 IFS integrations: 1. The Survive/Thrive Spiral: 2. IFS Constellations, and 3. Drawing into Self.    Episode Sponsor: Pisgah Coaching Institute   Check out The One Inside Self-Led merch at The One Inside store Watch video clips from select episodes on  The One Inside on YouTube Follow Tammy on Instagram @ifstammy and on Facebook at The One Inside with Tammy Sollenberger. Creative Spirit with Professional Artist - Julie WilliamsJulie Williams was born an artist, passionate and creative as a little girl. She was drawn to esoteric practice as a teen, a full-blown Hippy in the early 70's and then became a dedicated Biba follower of fashion in London.  After studying art and ceramics at school she wanted to go to Art School in Brighton UK but her plans were thwarted so she went to Paris for a year in 1977. There her true passion for in Art and the History of Art developed, she returned home and completed a BA in business studies, tourism and law to appease her parents and shortly after emigrated to Sydney Australia. Finding love and becoming a mother at 24 left no time for developing her artistic passion. She immersed herself in ‘Looking at Art' until the age of 41 when she finally achieved her dream and enrolled at the National Art School in Sydney in 2000.  Since then Julie has been in numerous exhibitions in Sydney, Regional Australia, and Singapore including a satellite exhibition during ARTJOG in Jogjakarta Indonesia in 2018. It was whilst living in Singapore for five years that Julie also developed her esoteric practice and deepened her Spiritual enquiry that really shifted her creative practice. Her paintings are conceptual, based on an idea and constructed with attention to her craft, but lately she has felt drawn to clearing her mind of all thought and trusting her Spirit to pull her through a painting. A painting is an illusion of space and it is this playing with space through shape, form and colour that keeps Julie painting. Join us as Julie shares her unique journey into claiming her creative expression fully later in her life, how her process feels as she nurtures concept to finished work, and how important her spiritual practice is for staying in flow and aligned with the truth of her works. You can find out more about Julie here:www.julie-williams.comwww.Artchisg.comArtChisg@gmail.comwww.instagram.com/juliewilliamsartist

They had never considered home education until their eldest daughter began school, and things just didn't feel quite, particularly regarding the early approach to academic subjects. After deregistering her from school, they spent a while finding their feet, first trying some school at home, then finally reaching an unschooling way of life. Tigercub “Tigercub steps up to claim the front runner status as the new heavy. They emerge from Brighton UK under the 7 foot frame of Mr. Jamie Hall and his Tigercub.” ~ Stone Gossard Revolver announced that Loosegroove Records has signed Tigercub c/w US Headlines dates in conjunction with their US & Canada shows supporting Clutch & EYEHATEGOD. The signing of Tigercub on Loosegroove Records marks the reboot of the influential indie label that Gossard founded back in 1994 with Regan Hagar. Significantly Gossard and Hagar signed Queens of the Stone Age and released the band's debut album in 1998, providing a foundation to build to where they are now. “When we discovered Tigercub, it felt like the right time to start Loosegroove back up,” says Hagar. Stone adds “It's almost 23 years to date that Queens of the Stone Age debuted at Mercury Lounge in NYC. And now Tigercub makes their Big Apple debut in the same club on April 16th. This is just the beginning for this incredibly talented group from Brighton UK to enlighten us Yanks to the sound of the new heavy!” Tigercub's latest album ‘As Blue As Indigo' was met with rave reviews from metal, rock and alt press internationally, establishing the band's genre-pushing originality. Written over two years, ‘As Blue As Indigo' champions introspections drawing on the subjectivity of colour, paired with masterclass songwriting, mind-bending arrangements constructed with boundary-pushing production. https://open.spotify.com/artist/6ekYAO2D1JkI58CF4uRRqw https://music.apple.com/gb/artist/tigercub/658911023 https://tigercubtigercub.bandcamp.com/music https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIq8QZNx4Ge6rbBejiSwQBw https://tigercubtigercub.us7.list-manage.com/subscribe?id=d9fefe5a42&u=5adb5e49f2c09c28ec6402fa3 Clutch CLUTCH shares more in common with The Grateful Dead, Rush, and the Allman Brothers than their heavy riffs and heady twists-of-phrase might suggest. Because like those bands, the supporters who adore CLUTCH are there for the experience, community, and authentic connection. To love CLUTCH is to feel a sense of ownership, membership, and belonging. A worldwide cabal of fans and critics cherish the band's dense and diverse catalog of underground classics, released through major labels, indies, and since 2009, Clutch's own Weathermaker imprint. Sunrise On Slaughter Beach, the band's thirteenth studio album, is a slamming summary of everything that makes the band great and another giant leap forward into career longevity. New bangers like “Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone),” “Nosferatu Madre,” “Skeletons on Mars,” “Jackhammer Our Names,” and “Mercy Brown” take their rightful place alongside the classics. Sunrise On Slaughter Beach is the natural culmination of what Clutch began as teenagers in the early ‘90s. Sunrise On Slaughter Beach introduces some “firsts” into the Clutch canon: vibraphone (from Gaster), theremin (J. Robbins), and female backup vocals from singers Deborah Bond and Frenchie Davis. The album's nine songs are a diverse ride, destined to please longtime fans and intrigue newcomers alike. On today's episode I was joined by Nader Beshara, the CoFounder and Director of Ingham Jones a start up financial services, risk, technology and compliance global recruitment search firm with 10 people headquartered in Brighton UK. Nader has been an avid listener of The RAG and I was delighted to hear that listening to the show has helped him a lot since launching in November 2020. We discussed the reality of his journey since launching during the pandemic and here are a few highlights - Launching in covid was an amazing time to do it as he was literally missing out on NOTHING in life whilst working all hours he could - He and Jermaine his business partner hit their annual target inside 12 months - He has loved the entrepreneurial experience to date and would recommend it to any recruiter whos questioning their plan right now - He is growing but stressed that it will be at their own pace and they won't try and follow the ‘growth crowd' that we see in our sector Super honest and genuine, Nader is a recent and relevant example of what is possible with the right attitude as a start up recruitment founder!

The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 265: Teach LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Yoga with Gabi Parkham    Description: We all want our yoga classes to be welcoming places for everybody, but sometimes, we unintentionally make some people feel excluded or unwelcome. One of those groups of people is the LGBTQIA+ community. Gabi Parkham shares how we can teach LGBTQIA+ inclusive yoga and create safer yoga spaces.   Gabi was born in Brighton (UK) and started practicing yoga during early childhood. She is passionate about finding equity and justice through yoga, consent in all aspects, and sharing yoga free from assumptions. Alongside teaching yoga, Gabi is an LGBTQIA+ equity educator and consultant helping yoga teachers and studios to make their classes more welcoming for the LGBTQIA+ community. Gabi runs regular online workshops about LGBTQIA+ "inclusion" and a 6 month online course for LGBTQIA+ yoga teachers to come together in community, learn from one another, and support each other. Gabi also co-founded Laviot, a social and supportive community LGBT+ Jewish non-binary people and women.   In this interview, Gabi explains what LGBTQIA+ means, the importance of sharing pronouns, and why creating spaces for this community is important. Gabi shares more about why it's so important to get educated, then teach like there is a trans or non-binary person in your class all the time, and how to include that in marketing your classes. This is all part of a lifelong learning journey, and the work is always ongoing. Learn more about how to start creating safer, braver, and more inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ folks in your yoga class in this episode.   Key Takeaways: [3:15] Shannon introduces her guest for this episode - Gabi Parkham. Brighton might just be the favorite destination for Londoners on a weekend jaunt. Partly, that's because it's so close — just a smidgen over an hour from London's Victoria station to Brighton station. Once you're there, there's the glorious bustling Brighton Pier, the open-air restaurants in The Lanes, and the Royal Pavilion. Brighton Pier is where you'll find the crowds. It opened in its present form just before the turn of the 20th century and is still going strong. You'll be surprised at how many attractions they've packed into its amusement park area, around 500 meters out from the beach. Kids will love the trampolines and the bouncy castle, but don't forget the many rides for adults. After the pier, stroll along the seafront to enjoy the sea air. Visit the Upside Down House for the upside-down photos you know you want to upload to your Instagram. Now, it's time for a visit to the Royal Pavilion. It was the seaside palace for two British kings and a queen before it was sold to Brighton in 1850. Since then, it has become one of the city's most-loved tourist attractions. From the outside, it looks like a jumble of styles, including from India and China. Enter and be dazzled by its huge banquet room, royal bedrooms and reception rooms. It's an eye-opening look at how British royals used to live. Finally, if you're visiting in winter then you're in for a treat. Swarms of hundreds of thousands of starlings, called “murmurations,” fly to the piers in Brighton. You can see their brilliant displays from the seafront — one more thing that makes Brighton so special. (T) This article was provided by The Japan Times Alpha.

Today on the show I speak with The Unconventional Parent Adele Allen. We talk about her 3 free births (and how they don't always have to be perfect or pretty), siblings at birth, extended breastfeeding, self weaning, unschooling, and vaccinations. Adele is bright, honest, knowledgable and like all my guests has so much integrity. Enjoy! Adele's Biography: My name is Adele, I'm 36 and I live very differently to most conventional parents. I'm married to Matt who is also not your conventional 9-5 working father. He is quite a super hero to us and as well as working part time to support our family, he also battles an autoimmune condition, raises and helps home educate the kids as well as running an allotment, wild sea swimming most days and making delicious healthy food to keep us going! We have three kids: Ulysses 9 years, Ostara 5 years and Kai 20 months. All our children are beautiful, unvaccinated and highly sensitive spirits. We don't tell them what to do through arbitrary rules but we do cooperate & set boundaries alongside them through mutually respectful discussions. They learn through imitation and natural consequences. We also practice full term breastfeeding and natural-term weaning. Ulysses is still learning to read & write, Ostara is Very active and advanced for her age and both Kai and Ulysses still l'Ile to cosleep in our room. I don't believe in comparing children to society's ‘milestones' and expectations, they are all uniquely different and ready to acquire skills at their own pace and in their own way. No child should ever be judged as being ‘behind'. I love animals and nature and am a pet parent to Noah, a rescue dog and soon to be three rescue hens as well
