An interest in health and fitness that Brannen Dorman developed as a young kid eventually took him to Wheaton College, where he was a fullback on the football team; to coaching at schools in Florida; and now to Training Think Tank in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he helps athletes and others set fitness performance goals and plan how to achieve them. Though the world of fitness is “not a Christ-centric space,” Brannen has still found openings to talk about his faith, particularly with athletes who find themselves disillusioned by the win-at-all-costs attitude prevalent in sports—or just by modern life in general. Brannen talks with Paul Amos about the intersection between faith and fitness, as well as raising a family of faith, in this week's podcast.Visit The Redeemed's website for downloadable discussion question sets, show notes, inspirational articles, more resources, or to share your testimony.Join our Exclusive Newsletter: Signup today and be the first to get notified on upcoming podcasts and new resources! The Redeemed is an organization giving men from all backgrounds a supportive, judgment-free environment, grounded in Christian love without demanding participation in any faith tradition, where they can open up about their challenges, worries, and failures—and celebrate their triumphs over those struggles. “I've constantly learned from the people I'm around. … I feel like you learn so much from, not just coaches, but I think from training partners. And I think that in itself is so valuable compared to just training by yourself, following a program. … It might work for some people, but that doesn't work for me. I need to be around other people.” Multi-year CrossFit Games athlete and business owner Lauren Fisher joins the show to share her experience as a professional CrossFit athlete, competing with Annie Thorisdottir and CrossFit Reykjavik, and starting Grown Strong. Fisher grew up playing team sports and did her first CrossFit workout in 2008 after her brothers convinced her to train with a coach at a local gym to help with her basketball training. The intensity, competitiveness with herself and the time cap, and enjoyment left Fisher hooked. By 2012, Fisher qualified for the Northern California Regional — her first — and placed 12th overall. A year later, she competed at the CrossFit Games with team CrossFit Invictus, finishing seventh. Fisher went on to compete at the CrossFit Games six more years — four as an individual and three on a team. On today's episode, Fisher opens up about starting CrossFit and her evolution through the sport. She shares memories and wisdom gained competing and training alongside more experienced athletes as an individual, competing as a team member, and working with experienced coaches and athletes in the space to improve her training. Fisher also gets candid about the demands of having a social media presence and the challenges of balancing expectations from sponsors, growing her brand, and staying connected to her fans and community. Tune in to find out how Fisher and two-time Fittest Woman on Earth Annie Thorisdottir connected about becoming teammates for the 2022 CrossFit Games, how her business Grown Strong is designed to help women grow mentally and physically stronger, and how Fisher is gearing up for the 2023 season. Although she lives in San Diego, Fisher is currently training at Training Think Tank and will compete at the North America West Semifinal as an individual on May 25-28.

We take a look back at Quarterfinals. We talk about the TTT situation, and as always the show will dive into whatever comes out of the weekend from the crew.
We check in with Jamie to see how the simulation run by Training Think Tank went for her, and how it is preparing her for Quarterfinals. When is it okay to be selfish as an athlete when you are a gym owner and coach? Why is it important to give age groups in person competition and/or public video submissions? Jamie makes and excellent point with understanding where your own holes are by being able to see others in your division.
We are going to check in on this busy woman to see where she stand and what tools she uses to recover. Many people would look at the opportunity to take on elite CrossFit athletes with high exposure as a chance to boost their career. Max looks at it as a privilege and a responsibility. Coach to Noah Ohlsen, Travis Mayer, and many others, business owner, and staff developer are just a few of the hats that Max wears. I found Max by stumbling onto his content on the Training Think Tank youtube channel and I was immediately drawn in. I found myself breaking out a pad and a pen to take notes and learn. This man is smart, humble, and passionate. In this episode he provides practical advice to new and experienced coaches and athletes. There is truly something in it for everyone who takes fitness seriously.
