In Part 3 of Beyond the Finish Line: Winning as a Triathlete in 2025, IRONMAN Master Coach Matt Dixon from Purple Patch Fitness discusses his high-performance coaching approach, emphasizing a team-based methodology that has helped over 1,500 athletes qualify for world championships. Their coaching includes remote sessions with real-time feedback and ongoing education. Dixon outlines five principles for success: focusing on daily actions rather than outcomes, keeping things simple, responding proactively to challenges, reflecting regularly, and building a supportive team. He uses Stuart, an athlete with ambitious goals, as a case study to illustrate these principles, highlighting Stuart's resilience and adaptability in the face of life's challenges, eventually placing at a podium in triathlon. Apply the five principles discussed (being results-driven but process-focused, keeping things simple, responding vs reacting, practicing reflection, and building a support team) to your own athletic journey in 2025. Matt Dixon explains that great success often comes from what is removed rather than added, emphasizing the importance of simplicity. Matt Dixon discusses the importance of responding proactively to challenges rather than reacting impulsively. He also reviews the cycle of the Purple Patch Method. As a coach, the last thing you want to be dealing with is a barrage of unread text messages from clients in different timezones about workouts you don't quite remember off hand. One of the steepest learning curves for many coaches that start remote coaching is managing communication with their clients. When coaching in person, you can often deal with things more reactively. However, when working online with clients, you need more of a system otherwise things can get missed, and problems can arise. In the final part of this series on remote coaching, we talk about our systems and ways of communicating. We discuss the different tools we use, how we organise and separate buckets of communication and why some clients need to be coached to communicate in a way that helps the coach best serve them. In this episode, we take a big picture look at how we write and organise programming and talk about some of the mistakes we have made along the way that have helped us refine our processes. We discuss balancing being organised, writing programming in advance, and being more reactive and responsive to training week to week. Also, we have another conversation on how and when to include variance in conditioning for beginners and advanced athletes. Check out the next part of our series on remote coaching to learn a bit more about how we write training for our athletes. The first hurdle many have in remote coaching is getting through that initial stage trying to get your first clients. Even for well-established coaches, acquiring new clients can be a real challenge. Looking for remote coaching 7 years ago was difficult, and you would have been lucky if someone in your local city was coaching people via email. Now you'll find coaches everywhere offering online services. So what do people need to get started and build momentum? A significant social media following with a fancy funnel? Do they need to be part of a larger coaching company? Many people don't realise that the best place to start is coaching on the gym floor, delivering value to people and helping them. There are various ways to move in-person coaching online, and it is a lot easier to build trust with someone who will then hire you. In this part of our series on remote coaching, we get into the helpful and not-so-helpful strategies for acquiring new clients and discuss the different games people play on social media and the importance of referrals to help grow that client list. To kick off our latest podcast series on working in remote coaching, we are sharing our personal experience working online with athletes and how we got started. With all three of us coming from different places in coaching, coincidently, we all started at a similar period when working online was still a very new method of coaching in CrossFit. Several themes become apparent from each of our own stories, one of them being the importance of working with people in person. Although the coaching profession has elevated considerably in the last several years, there are still many people out there who haven't experienced the value of having a bit of feedback or coaching in person. Sometimes giving a lot of value here can be leveraged to gain remote coaching clients. Listen to episode 97 to hear old tails of qualifying for regionals, Jon's secret double under training for open workout 11.1 and how the online coaching space has developed over the years. The Anatomy of Therapy - Rebuild Yourself

On this episode of TAOT we discuss the role of Tele-Health as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads. We discuss how in many ways it isn't so different from what you should be doing with a patient or client in person. We discuss the pitfalls and downsides but also the silver lining with remote coaching and treatment. We set the foundation for the soon to come Part 2 and Part 3 where we discuss ways to create a usable system for addressing your patients. https://www.instagram.com/theanatomyoftherapy/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm2Th5O_qjtAk-kFtHwqZdQhttps://www.theanatomyoftherapy.com/post/why-you-aren-t-fixing-your-patientsBlog Post: "Never waste a Good Pandemic."Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/theanatomyoftherapy?fan_landing=true)
