China's top political adviser, Wang Huning, called on Monday for the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference to make full use of its role as a specialized advisory body, focusing on providing wisdom for the country's modernization goals.Wang, chairman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, made the remarks while delivering a work report to around 2,100 national political advisers at the opening of the second session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC in Beijing, raising the curtain on this year's two sessions, China's biggest annual political event.President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and other Chinese leaders attended the opening meeting, held at the Great Hall of the People. At the meeting, the agenda for the session was reviewed and approved. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the CPPCC, and it is a crucial year for achieving the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).Wang said that upholding the leadership of the CPC has always been the fundamental political principle of the CPPCC since the political advisory body was founded, and it remains the fundamental guarantee for the development and progress of its cause. He stressed the need for the CPPCC to act as a specialized consultative body, closely focusing on the major decisions and initiatives of the CPC Central Committee, national strategic needs and significant practical issues in its advisory role."The CPPCC should leverage its group advantages, conduct extensive investigations and research, and gain a deep understanding of the vivid experiences created in practice, the desires and demands of the people, as well as the difficulties and obstacles in policy implementation," he said.Over the past 12 months, the CPPCC National Committee conducted 94 consultations for advisers and officials to exchange ideas.Wang also emphasized the role of the CPPCC in external exchanges and in promoting the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, telling China's stories and spreading the country's voice to the world. After listening to the report, Zhang Yi, a national political adviser and a lawyer from Shanghai, said, "I was greatly encouraged, especially by the call for us advisers to provide suggestions in line with the central tasks of the Party and the country and fulfill our duties for the people."Zhang said that this year's conference is crucial for achieving the goals set in the 14th Five-Year Plan, particularly in relation to China's economic development and legal construction. He said that he would make suggestions regarding the effective regulation of artificial intelligence through legislation, after conducting research over the past year.Tsoi Wing-sing, a national political adviser from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said that in-depth research is crucial in formulating proposals, and this year he would propose a way to leverage Hong Kong's advantages in promoting China's experience in green finance on the global stage.Reporter: Zhang Yi, Yang Yang

Good day ladies and gentlemen, this is IRC news, I am Joy Stephen, a certified Canadian Immigration practitioner, and I bring to you this Provincial News Bulletin from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This recording originates from the Polinsys studios in Cambridge, Ontario. Newfoundland and Labrador employers with an interest in filling their staffing needs with workers from outside of Canada are encouraged to register for upcoming online immigration fairs, including the October 25, 2023 regional fair for Africa. Online fairs offer employers the ability to access an international talent pool to fill vacancies they cannot fill locally. Employers may instantly connect with prospective international candidates, review resumes and schedule interviews. The fairs focus on in-demand sectors in Newfoundland and Labrador, such as aviation, health care, early childhood education, technology and hospitality. In September, the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills hosted its first online fair targeting East and South East Asia, and the Oceania regions. Employers received over 20,000 unique visits, leading to nearly 4,500 job applications. The October 25 fair is attracting tens of thousands of registrations, including 10,000 registered for the health care sector alone. The fair will last approximately four hours; employers are encouraged to attend the entire event, as job-seekers may ask questions throughout. You can always access past news from the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador by visiting this link: https://myar.me/tag/nl/. QuitProof: The 7 Necessities for Becoming Resilient with Jenn Drummond Take away: The importance of learning to appreciate the ordinary, finding joy in being present, and embracing curiosity and enjoyment in the journey rather than solely focusing on the end goal. Money Learnings: Lessons were learned from a grandmother's garage sales and starting a lemonade stand as a child. The importance of buying low and selling high was emphasized. Bio: Jenn Drummond achieved business success as the founder and CEO of a thriving financial services company. Her move to Park City, Utah, with her kids, fed her family's passion for everything outdoors. But on a snowy evening in 2018, Jenn's life was knocked off its tracks. She was in a horrific car accident that brought her inches from death. Everyone agreed that she shouldn't have survived, yet somehow, she did. In the aftermath, it became crystal clear to Jenn that while she cannot control when she leaves this life, she–and the rest of us–can choose how to live it. Jenn's confrontation with death imbued her with vigor, enthusiasm, and commitment to full engagement in life. Now–more than ever, she is focused on becoming an inspiration, guide, and cheerleader, not just for her children, but for outdoor enthusiasts around the world. Urged on and supported by her family, Jenn has now become the first woman to climb the World's Seven Second Summits–the second tallest mountains on every continent. In January 2024, Jenn will be releasing her book, “QuitProof: The 7 Necessities for Becoming Resilient,” a powerful account of her journey through triumph and resilience after surviving a near-fatal car accident in 2018. Highlights from this episode: Surviving a traumatic car accident in 2018 provided a new outlook on prioritizing living life to the fullest over strictly following norms and expectations. It gave courage to pursue passions. Climbing mountains, despite risks and fears, teaches important lessons about knowing your limits, perseverance, teamwork and enjoying the journey. Summits may be brief moments that cap long, rewarding climbs. Businesses can benefit from recognizing points of failure as opportunities to evaluate, learn and reorganize to keep progressing, just as climbers do when acclimatizing up mountains. Support teams must evolve as businesses scale new heights. Growth often requires letting go of whatGot you there to embrace new directions and skillsets. Appreciating everyday moments, not just extraordinary pursuits, brings abundance, beauty and joy. Slowing down and being present is so important. Taking time to acknowledge our bodies, not just our thoughts, helps relieve stress and reset mentally to write a new positive story going forward. Recent allegations indicate that President Joe Biden exerted pressure upon Attorney General Merrick Garland, advocating for legal action against former President Donald Trump. Originating from The New York Times, the report made public in early April 2022 denotes, 'The Attorney General's unhurried style of operation has at instances stirred unease with President Biden and Democratic partners allied to the presidential office.' The same report also has insights from sources close to Biden, claiming he believes Trump's actions pose significant risk to democratic values and should face prosecution. 'President Biden has shared his concerns with his closest confidants regarding the need for consequences for any threats posed to democracy,' the journalists hinted in their article. 'Furthermore, Biden wanted Garland to transition from his judicious approach to a more aggressive prosecutor stance, particularly given the happenings tied to January 6.' However, both sides have not directly discussed Biden's concerns publicly before. Since these statements were released by the NYT, legal proceedings have gathered pace against the former President, with 91 charges lodged against him by four prosecutors. This implies a possible sentencing of 717.5 years imprisonment for the former leader if convicted on all charges. Meanwhile, questions about the nature of Trump's activities stirred conversations in the media, with the president asked if he viewed Trump's actions as an insurrection. In a response to a reporter's inquiry about whether Trump should be billed as an insurrectionist, the President responded, 'I believe that's self-explanatory.' Biden also added, 'As for the Fourteenth Amendment's relevance, we'll leave it to the court to pronounce their verdict.' He reiterated his belief that the former president gave his tacit approval to the insurrection even though Trump has never faced charges related to insurrection. 'There's absolutely no room for doubt. None. Zero.'See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:00 We should have an episode out next week and will be off three weeks for the holidays. I watched a cult documentary I paid $4 for on Amazon called The Deep End. Chandra is watching The Gilded Age and still loves it. Royals: Minutes (6:00) to 24:00 As we mentioned last week, the Dutch translation of Omid Scobie's Endgame named the racist royals who had concerns about the baby's skin color. Harry and Meghan first mentioned that in their Oprah interview and did not name the royal racists. To recap, Meghan named the two royal racists in her correspondence with Charles, but those names were not in any of the editions of Endgames except the Dutch one. Scobie claimed he never submitted a book that had their names in it. He said that most of the Fleet Street reporters know who they are, however. Scobie's publisher, HarperCollins, is going to conduct an inquiry as to how the names got into the Dutch translation. We know Meghan has the receipts. Meanwhile the royals are doing the most to show they're not racist except own up to it. Kate's dodgy uncle Gary did a column for The Daily Mail where he defended Kate by saying she can't be racist because he and Kate's mom grew up in West London. Sir Kenneth Olisa, the first black Lord-Lieutenant of London, also defended the royals. The Daily Mail has said that the royals are taking a “charm offensive” approach to the racism allegations. Kate opened a new Children's Day Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London this week where she was photographed with people of color. Charles, William and Kate also had crisis talks. These seem to have worked somewhat in that coverage is no longer focused on Endgame. The Telegraph claimed a royal source is urging the Sussexes to defend the Windsors against the racism claims. This is ridiculous considering the Windsor's "recollections may vary" response to the Oprah interview. Meanwhile Omid Scobie was asked in a BBC interview if he would apologize to the Windsors. Harry's old friend Hugh Grosevenor, the Duke of Westminster, is getting married this June. Hugh is close to Harry and William and is Louis's godfather. An initial report from Roya Nikkhah in The Times claimed that Hugh didn't invite Harry and Meghan to his wedding to “avoid a family clash in the House of Windsor.” Then the Daily Mail and The Telegraph did follow ups claiming that Hugh was sad about having to snub the Sussexes but that it's all Harry's fault. Page Six blew the lid off all that when they said that Harry got a “save the date” card for Hugh's wedding a few months ago and then called Hugh to tell him it was best that he didn't go. This was very tacky of William to use the Duke of Westminster to bash his brother. We wonder how the aristos will get get back at William. We also wonder if William will ever be king. Comments of the Week: Minutes 24:00 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from girl_ninja on Taylor Swift's Time Magazine person of the year article. My comment of the week is from DaveW on the post where Angie Harmon said her daughters play Rizzoli and Isles for her dogs when she's away. Thanks for listening bitches!
