Approaching the 20th anniversary of the album which shot Peter Bjorn and John from Swedish indie obscurity to global mainstream success, Sarah sits down with Peter Morén and her trusty podcast co-host Björn Yttling as they prepare to take this very album – “Writer's Block” – on the road. Over the course of an hour, they let her in on plenty of band dirt from the past 30 years. From touring with their “Indian” rock band in the early 90s pre-John, to the dogmatic approach they use to write and record albums, to how they decided on Peter Bjorn and John as a name (and how to really spell it), and on to that hot midsummer day in 2006 when Victoria Bergsman quickly recorded her vocals on “Young Folks.” That epic track that would change it all. The conversation rounds off with reflections on future hopes for the band, how they maintain a healthy relationship to that viral track while writing album after album, and a decision on which of the three would qualify as the biggest brother in the band. Who could it be?

"Shelters" If you think you recognize the name Josh Lovelace, you probably do. Lovelace's full-time job is the keyboardist of the South Carolina outfit NEEDTOBREATHE, a band he's been with since 2011. Lovelace is a busy dude, but the Tennessee-born musician has found time to not only play with NEEDTOBREATHE, but he's also put out a handful of spirited and charming albums for kids under the moniker Young Folk. There's no doubt that Lovelace's creative endeavors have left him satisfied, but another endeavor had been marinating in his brain for a long time and he knew it was time to put the shovel in the earth and break ground. The result of all that personal digging is Shelters, Lovelace's first solo album under his own name. A stirring 11-track song-cycle that's intimate, personal and deeply moving. Shelters is an unflinching look at the wounds of the past and the results are achingly precise and deeply moving. Filled with melodic finesse and interior harmonies and subtle pop immedi. Shelters is a quietly rousing collection of personal fight songs that reminds us the path to healing is always waiting. “Treasure Island” is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, telling a story of "buccaneers and buried gold". The novel was originally serialized from 1881 to 1882 in the children's magazine Young Folks, under the title Treasure Island or the Mutiny of the Hispaniola. It was first published as a book in 1883. It has since become one of the most often dramatized and adapted of all novels, in numerous media. Since its publication, Treasure Island has had significant influence on depictions of pirates in popular culture, including elements such as deserted tropical islands, treasure maps marked with an "X", and one-legged seamen with parrots perched on their shoulders. We had the pleasure of interviewing Josh Lovelace of Young Folks and NEEDTOBREATHE over Zoom video.Moonwalking, Young Folk's (aka Josh Lovelace) third release, is a modern pop infused take on his unique brand of family style Americana. The album features ten brand new songs created to spark imagination and happiness. Lovelace, a member of the Grammy nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE, released his debut family album Young Folk in 2017 and followed that with the rave reviewed Growing Up in 2019. After five years of creating a unique space in the kids and family scene, this will be his first release under the moniker Young Folk. A lifelong appreciator of kid's music, on Moonwalking he illustrates why it's more important than ever to create a space where thoughtful content is being made just for today's youth. Young Folk sets out to provide a warm and welcoming place for families to connect, unwind, laugh and enjoy each other. After spending more time at home and less on the road these past couple years, Lovelace was blessed with the opportunity be fully immersed in his family life, inspiring this collection. These new songs come from those real life moments where you slow down, take a look around and see the world through your child's eyes. Both tender and sometimes silly, it's a slice of life captured in memorable songs and relatable lyrics all delivered with his kind and gentle voice. Self-produced and recorded in his studio in Knoxville, Tennessee, Moonwalking provides a perfect playlist for family time. About Young Folk:Josh Lovelace (aka Young Folk), singer-songwriter and member of the Grammy nominated rock band NEEDTOBREATHE, released his first family album Young Folk in 2017 followed by Growing Up in 2019. His albums have received Parents' Choice and NAPPA awards and he has been a featured at NPR, Billboard, Southern Living, Paste, Parade, Huff Post as well as many other national and local news outlets.
