Přestože jsme přípravu nepodcenili, nepovedlo se nám kvůli technické chybě bohužel pořídit kvalitní záznam. V redakci jsme se málem uškrtili, zda podcast v této podobě vůbec vydávat nebo ne. Navzdory všem negativům, která s sebou pandemie koronaviru přinesla, zaznamenal festival Rock for People během dvouleté pauzy, kdy zůstaly brány královehradeckého areálu uzavřeny, i jedno pozitivum.

Man, I think I wanted to talk to Kyle Thomas from the legendary groove metal band, Exhorder more than anyone in a long time.Kyle has been a influence in the music scene for as long as I've been listening to heavy music, and his vocal style has been ripped off for years. Some of the biggest bands ever copped his sound, but we can't complain about that.Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? The band is back together again, and are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their seminal debut, Slaughter in the Vatican. They are taking the show on the road, and will be playing a venue near you in December, as well as key dates and festivals coming up in the new year.I was able to snag Kyle for a few minutes before our connection went to pot. After 10 days, we tried again, but our connection was still rough, so we cut it short and I cobbled the audio together for this release. I apologize, but sometimes the fates don't allow, and they definitely didn't this go around. With that, I hope you'll check out the band on tour, buy their latest release, Mourn the Southern Skies, and get into this iconic group so they jump past mythic status and into the realm of legend where they belong. This is my conversation with the man himself, Kyle Thomas, from Exhorder, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.-----------------Time Codes:1:50 Praising Kyle through stories3:00 Z-Rock, Judas Priest, and Stryper4:30 Slaughter in the Vatican6:00 Starting to see hypocrisy in church7:30 The album cover they wanted to do9:00 Being a target in the rock biz10:30 Chief influences12:40 The feeling about the musical message of Slaughter14:00 Ozzy and the church15:20 Kids stuff17:00 Why did the band get back together18:30 Why is the band in the music business19:30 Touring an album is expensive"My Time" provided by Exhorder, from the release, Mourn the Southern Skies, courtesy of Nuclear Blast Records, copyright 2018. Mike Vecchione is another fantastic comic that was great to me in my early days. He did such a nice thing for me 15 years ago, I still think about it to this day, and I remind him of that kind deed. We both worked The Laff House early in our careers and we both share some stories from there. Mike tells his most recent bombing story and we talk about his move from Philly to New York City, and the grind that comes along with moving to the comedy Mecca of the world. Pat House is a nationally-touring comedian based out of Philadelphia. A regular performer in comedy clubs, casinos, and theaters all over the country, Pat has been a choice opener for Sebastian Maniscalco, Tom Segura, and Dan Cummins. He recorded his first album Biggest Thing in 2013, and his latest album Heard Enough Yesterday, hit #1 on the iTunes comedy charts. Both can be heard on iTunes, Amazon, and Pandora.Mike Vecchione is an Italian-American comedian and actor whose stand-up has been described as “rapid-fire delivery, swiftly moving from joke to joke and hitting his punch lines like a boxer working a speed bag.” Mike has made numerous appearances on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, Netflix, SiriusXM and more. No one did more for me in my first few years in comedy than Big Jay Oakerson. Jay got me started in comedy - so you can either thank or blame him. When I was 19, Jay performed at my college and I laughed my balls off. He mentioned being from Philly, so after the show I told him I was interested in trying stand-up; he told me where to go, who to talk to and … I did my very first set a week later. We talk about the night we met, his early days in comedy, driving from Philly to NYC with Kevin Hart everyday and share some cool memories of shows we did together when I was brand new. Both can be heard on iTunes, Amazon, and Pandora.Big Jay Oakerson is one of the most beloved and easily recognizable comedians in New York City. His easy charm and dirty delivery endear him to audiences every night. Jay’s comedy career spans two decades and a journey from “comic’s comic” to mainstream fame. Beginning as a standout in the Philadelphia comedy scene, Jay quickly became a favorite among other comedians after his move to New York City. He’s no stranger to the rest of America, either, regularly headlining across the country and playing festivals including Bonnaroo, Jager's Korn tour, RockStar Energy Drink's Mayhem Fest, Gathering of the Juggalos and Funny or Die’s Oddball Festival. Jay has also been featured on This Is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir, Comedy Underground with Dave Attell, FX’s Louie, Inside Amy Schumer, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon & Conan. Jay co-host's “The Bonfire” on Comedy Central Radio Sirius XM 95 alongside Dan Soder Monday through Thursday 6-8pm EST. He is also the co-host of two wildly popular podcasts - “The Most Offensive Podcast on Earth” Legion of Skanks with Luis J. Gomez and Dave Smith and The SDR (Sex, Drugs & Rock & Roll) Show with Ralph Sutton both on The Gas Digital Network. Jay’s debut hour special "Big Jay Oakerson: Live At Webster Hall" premiered on Comedy Central in 2016 & was filmed at the legendary music venue in New York City providing the perfect heavy metal vibe for the show. Jay's comedy is raw, compelling and honest to the core, as he takes viewers on a journey of brutal truths. His second special premiered in 2018 as part of “The Degenerates” on Netflix filmed in Las Vegas. He has 3 albums on Comedy Central Records, The Crowdwork Sessions: What’s Your F@#king Deal?! Volumes 1 & 2 recorded live at The Stand & The Village Underground that capture Jay’s raunchy, off-the-cuff essence with a full hour of crowdwork. They join Jay’s first album, An American Storyteller, a one-hour onslaught of unbridled awesomeness and raunchy rock n' roll hilarity.Oakerson has hosted 2 seasons of "What's Your F@#king Deal?! Crowdwork & Off The Cuff Comedy" on Seeso. Jay asks the audience to let go of pretension and leave egos at the door as he leads a pack of comics in a completely improvised show based on interactions with the crowd. The atmosphere is loose and no-holds-barred, so you'll see a side of the performers you've never seen before. Longtime fans of Jay’s will also remember him as Neil, the sexually ambiguous owner of a NYC rock club, on IFC’s Z-Rock, and from his appearances on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Comedy Central Presents and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. He’s wowed audiences at the prestigious Just For Laughs Montreal festival an impressive four times, both on The Nasty Show and with his solo show, The American Storyteller. And he’s a fan favorite guest on Sirius XM’s Bennington (previously Ron & Fez).

Boris' first episode sans Frost and it goes about as well as it could all things considered. Since we're out of headliners, we move to the upper tier acts, the ones who could have a ridiculous rider and still probably get away with most of it. First up? London band Bring Me the Horizon is our focus today and to sum it up? It's been a crazy trip for fans of these rockers. Festival co-founder Gary Spivak talks about how despite all the awesome secondary entertainment options at Aftershock, it's still the music that gets him most excited. Finally after the surprise news that internet celebrity Poppy was added to the lineup, Boris gets (former) Poppy superfan, Z-Rock promotions director Marla Silva to chat about who Poppy is, and how she fits (if at all) into the Aftershock landscape, including her latest collaboration with the Fever 333. --LINKS-- Aftershock Epicenter: http://www.zrockfm.com/aftershock-2019/ Buy Aftershock tickets now: http://bit.ly/2PpPz8t Buy/Stream Bring Me the Horizon's album "Amo": http://bmthorizon.co/amo Buy/Stream/Watch Poppy F/The Fever 333 "Scary Mask" https://lnk.to/placeintime Listen to Tim Buc Moore & Boris interview the Fever 333 at Aftershock 2018: http://www.zrockfm.com/aftershock-2018/

Thom had a great conversation with Logan Hawkes. Logan was a part of the Henry’s Child family from almost the beginning, being the guy that booked and ran “The Rant” for Z-Rock in Eugene and Springfield. Logan talks about his start at KBVR and how he’d commute from Corvallis to Eugene to work the overnight shifts at radio stations. He shares a great story about how Nirvana’s 1991 release “Nevermind” permeated the different sub-cultures of his life and work, all on the same day. He explains how working in Radio in the 90’s worked and the concept of Payola and how it’s generally like Politics, “but with a better sound track”. We then talk about how Logan meets Henry’s Child and tells a great story about Andrew closing out the final Z-Rock show down to the very last minute. Logan talks about Sonic X-Plosion and gives a mini tribute to Brandon Leberman (currently at KBOO in Portland) for bringing punk rock music to Corvallis Oregon in the 80’s. Logan tells us about his final radio gig and how he got into tech. Thom and Logan discuss their mutual friend Gary Spinrad and his contribution to the new Henry’s Child record plus the fact that Gary personally knows Elviss Simmons. It's a free form ramble this week as the Can You Hear Me boys talk about everything from forklifts to Eighties radio stations in the DFW area.  Gustav gets the ball rolling by telling how his dad has no problem with the idea of driving a forklift along a busy highway in the 903 wilderness for multiple miles. Radio is a recurring theme in this week's episode.  The guys fondly look back at the rural radio phenomenon of the call in Swap Shop program.  Whether they call it Tradio, Swap Shop or Trading Post, the basic format is the same.  The DJ takes calls from people either looking to sell something or looking to buy something.  Swap Shop talk leads to dumpster diving talk and Gustav talks about his experience a a dumpster diver and some of the junk that he found. The team responds to emails from the Fake Bailey Jay and the Crandyman.  Somehow the conversation turns to Gustav describing his college career and how he abandoned any hope of getting a Chemistry minor. Music has always played a big part in Can You Hear Me hosts lives.  They take a walk down memory lane and look back at the Eighties Radio Stations in the Dallas area that they listened to heavily.  KZEW listening led to Q102 or KEGL The Eagle listening with a detour to Z-Rock towards the end.  The guys realize that life is going to be totally different musically for their children. All of this album rock talk leads the guys to talk about the Texas Jam.  The Texas Jam was a day long concert held at the Cotton Bowl during the summer from 1978 to the mid-Eighties.  Bands like Van Halen, Aerosmith and ZZ Top were some of the heavy hitters that people braved searing Texas Heat to see.  Unfortunately, the guys were just a bit too young to ever make it to the Texas Jam.  Heavy and Gustav however did make it to Farm Aid 92.  They talk briefly about the giant concert held at Texas Stadium, but Gustav promises that they will do a much more detailed retelling of the Farm Aid experience on a future episode.
