The Podcast which features myself (Victor) and my Wife (Cathy) will be talking about a variety of things from Entertainment, Family and Relationship to getting older and Politics to current events. We will have guest on asking the various types of things
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 127 and today Victor hands over the Hosts duties to Cathy. Thank you all for joining us this week. Before we get into the things we have to talk about we first want to thank our guest from last week, Kyla for joining us again on the show. We hope you all enjoy Kyla as much as we do each time she is on. I had an interesting topic last week about D.E.I. that I will be starting the show with this week. Also Cathy and I were guests on a brand new podcast called " The Mixed Tapes" on Spotify with our cousin Amber and her co-hosts Nikki. They just put out episode one so please do us a favor and please give them a listen as soon as you can. On to the D.E.I. conversation and we start off with, Why the sudden attack on D.E.I.? Just because the Orange man and his band of criminals say it's bad doesn't necessarily make it bad. We wouldn't need D.E.I. or Affirmative Action if everyone was given an equal chance. The group that benefits the most from D.E.I. is white women. I know people are not worried about any of the changes going on with the Government right now but only until they are personally affected by the changes. I get that, but think of all the people different than black folks that have the benefits of D.E.I. Since a lot of companies have moved backwards on their Diversity initiatives people are also backing up from supporting these companies. Places like Target, Walmart, McDonald and Amazon are being boycotted since they year has started. My question as a GenX'er is "will young folks be able to live without some of the businesses"? I say that because most of my life their were not to many big box stores like Target or Walmart. I can live without them but it has become a challenge staying away. The Philadelphia Eagles are Superbowl Champions again this year but never mind that football game, what about that Halftime show performed by Kendrick Lamar? What are your thoughts on the game and the halftime show? Please hit us with an email and let us know your thoughts. The performance wasn't for everyone, admit that and I get it!I had all intentions of ending the show with this food for thought! Why can't Black people have their own stuff? The history that is out there is showing that every time we as black people start to advance in our communities and not rely on other folks those same folks come and destroy it! Why? Cities like Tulsa, Oklahoma were burnt down because " a black kid tried to pick up a married white woman". I could go in on this story for an entire show but I won't. As long as I have this podcast with Cathy I will always mention the history of Black people and how we have worked hard for everything we have earned. Nothing has ever been handed to us. So keep trying to dismiss our history because some folks feel hurt about what white people did hundreds of years ago so now they just want to try and erase it. We will end the show this week with a couple things we watched this week. The Netflix Documentary O.J. Simpson: American Manhunt and Captain America: Brave New World. We talked about them so please give them both a watch. Thank you for joining us this week and we will see you guys next week for Episode 128.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk this is Episode 126. Your Host's Victor and Cathy are happy to be back with you all again this week. We are on a roll, two weeks in a row with a great episode. Let's start off our show with a "Happy Black History Month" even though our government isn't recognizing this month or any other Special Celebration by any other group similar to Black History. This is where we are as a country today. This week we have one of our favorites joining us this week. Welcome back to the show our cousin Kyla. Kyla always comes on the show and does a great job. She has so much knowledge and brings her great personality each time she is with us. We get right into it with Kyla. "What and when are the Republican Party going to stop President Trump and his boyfriend Elon Musk? They are destroying our government and most of our politicians are just sitting around watching it happen. All I can say is Jasmine Crockett for President. She is the only one in my eyes that is saying anything and doing anything to stop these people. Cathy and I called our State Representative in Congress and both of us were worried about what we were told and what was said by Mr. Lata's staff. I personally felt like this guy talked down to me and they told Cathy that they don't respond to every News story out there. I think they just took our calls and they responded because tons of people are calling there representatives all over the country. It's Superbowl weekend and who do you guys have winning the game? I think Kansas City will win (again) but it would be nice to see Philadelphia win it all again. The President will be in attendance and the "end racism" that's been in NFL endzones for a couple years will be removed for this game. Why do we think the reason they are removing it is because the President will be there? I think a lot of us can answer that question but please, let me know your thoughts on all of this as it pertains to the Superbowl. Please send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.com.In Kyla's neck of the woods in Cincinnati, Ohio they white supremacists have shown up again but this time they had resistance from the community. The historically black community of Lincoln Heights rallied together to remove those folks and burn up their hatred. We need more of this around the country. Peaceful shows of force to show these hateful people we won't stand for this. Here in Elyria, Ohio we have a prisoner on the run with handcuffs on. It's been almost five days and they can't seem to locate this kid. How does someone in police custody get away with the cuffs on? I will for sure keep you all updated on this story as we here more. I have no faith in the Elyria media but I will find information somewhere for you guys eventually. Thank you all for joining us this week. We hope you enjoy this long episode with our girl Kyla. We will see you all next week.
Send us a textHello again and welcomer back to 50Talk. Cathy and Victor are back on the mic's again after our 1st cruise. Yes we are going to talk about it. So get ready to hear all the juicy details. We will give you The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly that we noticed on our little excursion. As older folks we did good flying into a huge city like Miami and got ourselves a Lyft, and we did it a few more times after that. Does that make us Lyft Experts?Any who, on to the important stuff that we have to talk about and of course that being Matin Luther Kings birthday and on Inauguration day this year. Dr. King was a great man for all Americans and would be so sad to see this President and what he is doing to this country on Dr. Kings day. That quiet possibly may have been the last time we (as Americans) get to Celebrate King as a National Holiday the way things have gone this last week.Victor did a thing on MLK Day. He removed himself from a couple different social networking sites. I think it's easier for me to do this because I am a GenX'er. We are the most resilient group of people. Could you guys give up "any social media" today and be okay with never using it again? That's some old people talk right there.A lot of things happened the day Joe Biden left office but, him giving people Preemptive Pardons was insane to me. Insane because it had to be done in our country today due to political differences. This is going to be a fun time the next four years. A brand new Nintendo Switch has been announced! Y'all know Victor loves him some Nintendo. So stay tuned for further information about that when I hear something. We hope you guys enjoyed the episode and we will see you all next week.
Send us a textGood Afternoon and Welcome to 50Talk. Cathy and I are so glad to be back with you guys. It's been over a month since we've last spoke so we have some catching up to do. It's been a busy month in our lives and in the goings on in the country. How was your Christmas and your New Years celebrations? We would love to here about what and how you celebrated. Our Holiday celebrations were pretty good. Different but good, seeing the kids get older though has made us rethink how we celebrate moving forward. Tell us how you celebrated, send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comJust after Thanksgiving I had the honor of meeting a friend after at least 15 years for the 1st time in person. Jason aka: Faitios formerly of The Post Game Report and The Taggers Podcast from way back in the day came into Cleveland and we hooked up over Beer and some good food and conversation. We look forward to Jason and his wife joining us on the show in the future. We are five days into 2025 but January 1st came in with a bang in The United States. There is nothing more American than a Mass killing to start the year off. Sadly this is America. Along side that mass killing was an incident that has everyone talking, like what the hell is going on? Y'all need to pay attention to what's going on. I'm going to post some links to some Independent Media and TikTok's that I follow and pay attention to. I will post those links at the end of the show description.Former President Jimmy Carter has passed (100 years old) this past week. I remember him as the 1st Presidential Inauguration that I remember. Through out my life I always heard people say Carter wasn't a good President because he was only one term but that he was a great Humanitarian for the work that he did after his presidency and being married to his wife for all those years. Did y'all know there are "Couples Codes" that we try to live bye? Cathy brings us some Couples Codes that makes me think and should make you think as well if you are in a relationship. This is good information and Cathy is just laying it all out there. In New York there has been a beating and death of a prisoner by the Corrections Officers. 14 Officers have been fired but as of today not charged due to his death. When will this type of treatment stop? Law Enforcement just doesn't give a shit now-a-days. Y'all pay attention to what's going on around you and in this country. Keep your heads on a swivel and take in different types of media to stay informed. Something is brewing behind the scenes leading up to Monday January 6th and January 20th. Pay attention! Thanks for joining us again and we will see you all in a week or so....we going on vacation. https://www.youtube.com/@MeidasTouchhttps://www.youtube.com/@briantylercohenhttps://www.youtube.com/@FarronBalancedhttps://www.youtube.com/@adammocklerhttps://www.youtube.com/@CoachD_Speakshttps://www.youtube.com/@LukeBeasleyhttps://www.youtube.com/@LegalAFMTN
Send us a textHello and welcome back to another episode of 50Talk. Your Host's Victor & Cathy are glad you all decided to join us again this week. It's Thanksgiving week and Black Friday shopping at the end of the week and we can't forget about College Football and my Ohio State Buckeyes going against TTUN (That Team Up North). So needless to say it's going to be a great week. Cathy and I have a few turkeys sitting around the house and we had been trying to figure out how we are going to cook them. It's come down to the old traditional way of cooking that sweet bird. We can mess around after Thanksgiving with the other two birds. I'm really looking forward to all of Cathy's great cooking. I can see it all on my plate right know and I can feel the fullness from eating it all. Black Friday is right around the corner and Amazon is already having some great sales. I get into some of the tech stuff that I think everyone needs. What are you guys looking for on Black Friday or are we all past that going to stand in line at midnight stuff? Stores are changing over time when it comes to shopping. They make sales almost every weekend leading up to Christmas so we Americans don't have to trample each other or kill each other. Safety first is what is important. Cathy gives us a little history lesson on Thanksgiving and the first dinner and some changes the government has put in since the early to mid 1800's. Yes, some of the information she gave is new to me. You learn something new everyday still. Do families still gather after dinner to watch classic movies or go to the movie theater to check out the Holiday release movies? There are so many great movies out for the Holiday already. What are some of the traditions that you all remember growing up or that you all have in your families? Please share with us at victor50talk@gmail.com.I give a short lists of thew best Thanksgiving pumpkin desserts and they all sound and look incredible. What are some of your favorite thanksgiving desserts? Please let us know. Send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comKyla sent Cathy and I a text message about an incident that happened in 1994 (I guess because we are old). Susan Smith, who killed her two kids by driving them into water and letting them drown and then went on to say a black man carjacked her. Can you freaking believe that? Of course you can, this is still America. Are men still taking "Men Weekends" or "Man-cations" these days? This is an interesting subject and Cathy took it way out of context. We hope you guys all enjoyed the show and we really do hope to be with you guys again next week for episode 124. Thank you all for listening.
Send us a textHello and welcome back to another episode of 50Talk. The Host's of the show Victor and Cathy are happy to be back with you guys. They needed to take a little time after the crazy election to get over it and move the hell on. This episode is going to be the last time we get into talk of politics to deep or to much. This election has shown us who we are as a country and 50Talk is going to find a little bit of space in the country and get comfortable. So we are very sorry to have missed you all the past two weeks. Quickly, we get right into the episode because, for the last two weeks we have been holding so much inside that we've been thinking about since the election. So first we're going to start with we can't watch any type of News since before the election. (trying to fit them in) The time I did turn on news was the night he started making his cabinet picks public and my jaw about hit the floor. Y'all don't forget that he "only picks the best people" from his 1st election, right? There is a new "Movement" taking place on TikTok and other Social Media, it's the Blue Bracelets Movement! White woman want to let everyone know that when the shit hit's the fan. Please don't look in their direction because they didn't vote for him. I am personally not a fan of the bracelet. Let me tell you why. We talk about how America isn't ready for a female President let alone a minority one. Also we have to talk about the Christian White Nationalists and how they played a part in the election. We both think it's sad that people actually said during the campaign that Kamala is stupid. You can't be as successful in life as she is if "she was stupid". Trump didn't get where he is by being stupid although he did fuck a lot of shit up. So the entire episode isn't all doom and gloom. Victor tries to bring a little "Joy" to the show with some good things happening in America. There was a "boxing" match this weekend. What are your thoughts on Netflix hosting and the outcome of the fight. We got a lot more stuff to talk about in this episode before we close out the episode. Thank you guys for joining us this week.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk. This is episode 121 and your host's are glad that y'all are able to be with us again. This week we have a guest with us so the entire show is our interview with her. Erika is our guest and she will tell us about herself and a bit about her journey to citizenship in America. She tells us about her family moving into the U.S. and it really is an amazing story. With election day coming up in just over a week this is a feel good story. Cathy did all the preparation for this episode so big shout-out to her for holding things down in the episode. See you guys next week with hopefully some good news about The Cohort Network of Podcasts.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk. Your Hosts Victor and Cathy are glad you all decided to join us again. Sorry for the short episode last week. We definitely will be making up for it in this week's episode. The week has been filled with all kinds of interesting stuff for us to talk about but we have narrowed them down to a few to discuss. We have to start this episode talking about the Cleveland Guardians and them playing in the ALCS in which they just concluded on Saturday evening. The Yankees eliminated them in the best of seen series in four games but aside from the loss ,the fans and all there old "Cleveland Indians" gear is a sore subject for me. So much progress has been made to move away from the "racists" indian to the new Guardians. Let's talk about it. We're almost two weeks away from election day and some states are still trying to fuck with our votes. They are doing all they can to make seem like the elections aren't secure or that funny business is going on. A story out of Minneapolis, Minnesota has Republicans panties all in a bunch to. The closer we get to election day I think the worse things are going to get. If you live in a state with early voting, please get out there and get your vote in.Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance was out on the stump last week saying some crazy shit! My guy threw his own Momma under the bus, again. I want to give JD Vance the benefit of the doubt that he really isn't the person he pretends to be for Donald Trump but I don't know. Cathy wants to know the importance and the significance of decorating for holidays. She did some intense research for you guys so listen closely. She is dropping knowledge. We have a couple of the same types of stories to talk about this episode. I mentioned one to Cathy and we talked a bit about it but the second story we did not discuss until today. We want you guys to ell us your thoughts on these stories as well. Send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comWe watched a couple show this week that we wanted to talk about to. Monster: on Netflix about the Menendez Brothers killing of their Parents. And the creators of "The Apprentice" want to apologize for the monster that is Donald Trump. Enjoy the show and please join us next week for our scheduled guest. This is going to be a great conversation. See you guys next week.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk Episode 119. Your Hosts Cathy and Victor are glad that you guys decided to join us again this week. We did take last week off to refresh or better yet, we just had some life shit going on. We are glad to be back this week though. This will be a short show so we hope you enjoy it. We jump right into the episode with a topic I saved from last week that we didn't get to. In light of the P-Diddy indictment and all the rumors surrounding it we have to talk about the so called "90's Era of HipHop & R&B" with musicians like Diddy, R. Kelly, Michael Jackson and I guess we can throw in Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce'. Was it really the best era of music in your minds? I love the 90's so much. All of the music from that period, but when I hear those hits now I have to be thinking some kind of way about it. Can we just ignore everything outside of the actual music or do we keep the entertainer in mind and what they did while we are listening? I always had a way of separating the music from the drama. This time I think it may be different because it's so many different folks involved and this stuff is way worse than some of the other stories from over the years. Quickly we dive into some politics and how people were all upset because Kamala Harris was trying to avoid the Media, know all of a sudden they don't like what she has to say. I knew it was a no win situation for her either way but look at Trump now. Dude is basically missing in action and when he does surface all he does is spread hate and fear mongering with an incomprehensible tone. Trump is going to cities and talking to the citizens in the town as if he were somewhere else. How can you go in front of people and ask for their vote then turn around and say to them that there town sucks an will be worse if you vote for the other person? Is this normal behaviour or is there something really wrong with him? Cathy wants to talk about Peanut Butter and what its good with. Not just the traditional peanut butter and jelly but what else? We also have been watching some movies and some shows as well that we want to talk a little bit about. From on Amazon Prime Video is a great show in its third season that you all should be watching and please do check out the remade edition to Salem's Lot. Thank you for joining us again this week and if your in Ohio like us, please get out there and get your vote in early to get it done. This election is to important to skip so please get it done. See y'all next week.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk. The Host's Victor and Cathy are glad you are able to join us again this week. This week is our 3rd Anniversary of doing 50Talk and also this week is our 28th Anniversary so we wanted to "re-introduce" ourselves. Before we do that make sure you all check your Voter Registration or Register to vote. It's October now and election day is right around the corner. After our re-introduction to our new listeners we get right into our stories. The first story is another update to the Titan Submersible story from just over a year ago. Week two of the trial/investigation of the incident is in the books. The Owner of the company put greed before safety. In the Show Me State of Missouri Marcellus Williams was put to death by legal injection. There is a lot of controversy aimed at the courts about some information that was discovered that left questions about the case. The Governor and the Supreme Court decided to move on with the execution anyway. A story and an immediate update to the same story out of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania has a lot of people scratching their heads. An African American student athlete had the word "nigger" carved/scratched on his chest. Listen to the craziness coming out about this incident. Cathy hits us with the topic " some incited on how to make it to 30 years of marriage", we discuss how we did it and how we had to work on somethings to make it work this long. Just because we've been together this long doesn't mean you don't work a your marriage daily. Enjoy the conversation. This week we finally tell all about the series "Outlast" on Netflix. We have waited long enough to talk about it. It's a great season but I think the next season should be somewhere other than Alaska. The last thing before we close out this weeks episode is the death of Pete Rose (83) aka Charlie Hustle. I still think he is one of the greatests to play the game but didn't get a chance to see himself make it into the Baseball Hall Of Fame.Thank you for joining this week and we will see you all next week.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50talk, this is Episode 117. 50Talk are proud members of the newly formed and announced The Cohort Network. Please stay with us a we get deeper into fall with the official launch of The Cohort Network and the Podcasts that will be a part of our network. It's starting to feel like fal here in Ohio where we are and that puts a huge smile on my face. This week Cathy and I jump right into the show with some valuable information that you all could use. Get registered and check the status of your Voter Registration by going to Vote.gov , the time is running out to get registered so make sure you don't miss out on "our most important election" in a longtime. States and Politicians are still at it trying to change the rules leading up to November 5th.There was a Mass shooting in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday morning and the shooters are still at large. So if your a listener from Birmingham make sure your watching yourself and keeping an ear to the ground about the whereabouts of these shooters. We visited Birmingham a couple years ago and had a great time. It really is a beautiful city and we have a lot of family there as well. Let's hope they catch these people soon. We will keep you all updated here at 50Talk on either our Podcast or our 50Talk Facebook Page. Cathy talks about being a mother and seeing your child celebrate their birthday. The emotions that a Mom goes through over the years. Also the changes that a woman's body goes through from childbirth that will never be the same. Does every woman remember the birth of her children? Is it something they will never forget, all the good and the bad. We went out on Saturday to celebrate the birthday of my step-sister Terri (former guest) and we had a situation with a bar patron. We have a question and some comments about white america. This happens to us/me very often so check it out. Another update to a story we talked about over a year ago on 50Talk is the Titan submersible and the accident that killed the five people aboard. The trial investigating the accident just started last week and it left a chilling message of "Hubris & Greed". This is an ongoing story so stay tuned for future updates as well. The biggests topic for the week is The Diddy Indictment. I think someone is in big trouble and probably won't be getting out of jail/prison for a very long time. This looks like a bunch of dominos falling. People involved or possibly involved are quitting their jobs, some people are starting to speak out and some are bracing for their names to be dragged through the mud due to a madman! This to is an ongoing story and we here at 50Talk will keep you updated the moment we hear anything. There are tons of rumors and stories out there so be careful what you believe as we will do too. Thank you for joining us this week for another fun episode. We will see you all next week for Episode 118. Have a great week.
Send us a textWelcome to 50Talk . This is Episode 116 and your hosts Cathy and Victor are glad to have you guys back. We need some advice from you guys this week right off the bat. We are having "grown kid issues" and we are stumped. This is a sign on how things are going to be in the episode. We have some things to talk about and we're glad you're here. I posted on our 50Talk Facebook Page on Monday a question about the state of our Politics and are we where we are because of a black man that had lived in the White House. We got no response to the question and I'm cool with that. Cathy and I still talk about it. If you hear this episode and still want to comment send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comLast Tuesday was a pretty historical day. We had our first Debate with our Vice President and our Former President. It was quit the event. Do you have a clear winner? Are you okay with a candidate spreading lies about a group of people who just want to work and be left alone? Did you feel like each candidate put out their policies clearly in the Debate? Quickly Cathy and I talk about the second assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump. Is there anything to it that it was less than a week after a poor debate performance and that he is clearly dropping in the polls? Don't get us wrong, we would never want anyone shot for any reason. Are we going to get the real information from the "shooter" and what his motivations were for doing this? We will keep you updated when we get information.I North Carolina there has been a "potential" hanging that is trying to be hidden. In the town of Henderson, North Carolina. This story has holes all in it and us here at 50Talk will continue to update you guys when we get information. We watched a couple different things this week that we enjoyed. The finale of Outlast on Netflix and Bye, Bye Barry on Amazon Prime Video. Both were great shows that we think you all should check out. We try not to spoil them, Yet! We will hold off from talking until next episode if we remember. The News to end this episode is that 50Talk is now proud member of a brand new Network of Podcast called "The Cohort Network. We have a few different shows that will be announced and introduced later this fall so stay tuned. Myself and our former guest Amber have been busy getting this new Network running. Thank you all for joining us this week. We will see you next week for Episode 117 and getting close to our three year Anniversary.
Send us a textWelcome back to 50Talk. This Episode 115 and Cathy and I are glad you decided to join us again this week. We have a lot to look forward to this week. The first Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris is on Tuesday and this is what everyone has been waiting for. How will Kamala handle Trump and which Donald Trump is going to show up? This is going to be interesting. So far the College Football season has had some great match-ups. Being an Ohio State fan I had a joy watching *ichigan get their butts kicked this past weekend by Texas. This is my weekend football fix these days. Thursday was the kick-off to the NFL season and I tried to take a peek in to see what was up but that changed really fast. When I turned it on I heard the song "Lift every voice and sing" and all I could think of is that the NFL is still trying to win over the black watchers. I'm not falling for it. School is back in around the United States and we all know what that means, Mass shootings are happening. In rural Georgia there was a shooting and four people were killed. Two kids and two Teachers are dead and a dozen or so were injured. The shooter and his father have both been arrested and charged with this crime. What makes a parent believe that their 14 year old child needs and AR-styled rifle? I don't believe most adults deserve to have an AR-styled rifle either. There is no need for weapons of war on our streets. There is a lot of conversation on guns in America in the episode but has this shooting exposed the tragic hypocrisy of present day America? Ban books and gender affirming care and abortions and drag shows but don't ban automatic weapons. I don't understand where we are as a country. Thank you all for joining us this week. We really appreciate you guys support over the years. Join us next week for Episode 116.
Send us a textHello and welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 114 and your hosts Cathy and Victor are happy that you all could join again this week. We have a few things to talk about and we have a "very special guest" joining us this week with an inside look at the goings on at the NABJ convention a few weeks ago in Chicago. We welcome once again one of our favorite listeners to the show. Kyla has a story to tell and she has waited to share it with 50Talk.While we have Kyla with us I bring up a topic that she has talked about a couple different times on Social Media. "The Grits Debate", how do you eat your grits? It amazes me to this day that people actually put sugar on their grits. I also want to take the food conversation a little further and talk about "the Watermelon Debate" and what type of watermelon you guys prefer. Cathy and I got a delicious watermelon this weekend and it had seeds and you know how Victor's mind works. Not only did Cathy and I have Covid a month ago but cases are on the rise in the United States. I heard on the News that at least 400 people a week are dying from Covid related issues. I know we have all heard this before but we still need to be safe out there. A new Vaccine dealing with the new strains is coming in early September. The CDC advice is to get Covid vaccine in September with your Flu shot. There is an article that I found in the Independent that is headlined " Republican group cites notorious Dred Scott ruling as reason Kamala Harris can't be President". Yes it is real and yes I have heard this argument on a few different media outlets. You all have to look into this as well. On Fox News the "new Tucker Carlson" made some sexists remarks about our Vice President. Jesse Watters is a piece of work an needs to be held accountable for this horrible disrespect. Fox News just doesn't get it even after the almost $1billion fine they had to pay for lying. To end the show we hit Kyla with some fun questions but some question that get you to thinking for real. Thank you all for listening to Episode 114. We'll see you next week for another episode. Have a great Holiday weekend.
Send us a Text Message.Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 113 and Cathy and I are glad you all could join us again this week. We have a lot to talk about so let's get into it. We had our annual Family Reunion last week and would like to say it was a success. After being a part of the planning committee over the last year it was a great event. We had tons of family and food and great conversations. We had also went camping with all the Johnson Crew earlier in that same week, so we were very busy the entire week leading up to the family reunion. I forgot to do this in the show soI will add it know. "Let's go into the mind of Cathy" and learn some things. We want to tell you all what it's like waking up on a Monday morning as retired people. While traveling back and forth from camping we had a revelation after being together for almost 30 years. This is crazy! You do know that your body is a vessel, right? When your born is that vessel empty? When you die what happens to that vessel or capsule as Cathy also calls it? Also in a relationship who makes who old? is it the older person in the relationship who is obviously aging or is it something else? The Democratic National Convention starts this week and I for one am ready to see a real representation of America unlike the Republican National Convention. I'm anxious to see who the speakers will be and even some of the entertainment. Most of all I want to hear the uplifting message the party will bring to us. Hearing President Obama and Michelle speak should be uplifting. I can't wait to hear Kamala's acceptance speak. This is going to be an historical week and I can't wait. Donald Trump said some crazy shit this past week. Can you freaking believe that? He actually spoke in front of real people and told them that the Presidential Medal of Freedom is more important than the Medal of Honor. As a Marine Corps veteran I am insulted. Any Veteran of any branch of service should be insulted by this man's words. Just another "stupid comment" to the long list of other "stupid comments" this man continues to say. There was an interview on the Platform X and t was a complete mess. Elon Musk and Donald Trump together equals shit! Did someone forget to give Donnie his false teeth to put in or was he drunk or high or was it because it was past his bedtime and his words were slurring? Any way you put it, it was a terrible interview and an even worse reflection on our aging former President. He does love the Time magazines cover picture of Kamala though. He said she looked like a beautiful movie star and even a former 1st Lady named Melania Trump. Can you freaking believe this guy said that? Who is the "Old man running for President now"?Thank you all for joining us this week. We had a great time. Don't forget to go to vote.org or vote.gov to check the status of your voter registration or to get registered. See you all next week. Thanks for listening.
Send us a Text Message.Welcome back to 50Tallk. This is episode 112 and the host's Victor & Cathy are happy to be back with you all again. This episode is the call before the storm for the craziness of the week. The Kingdom is off to the woods this week and then topping it off with a Family Reunion for three days this weekend. We are so excited to see family and also to just go out into nature and enjoy some time with our immediate family. Beers and fire here we come!Well let's et into some show topics right now. Our first topic this week is the Police Killing of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois by a former Sheriff's Deputy named Sean Grayson. This piece of work has been fired (finally) and has been charged with three counts of 1st Degree murder and two other counts as well. The body camera footage was released about a week or so after the killing and it is very hard to watch and to listen to. I think the words this former police officer used were heartless and disgusting. This man should get everything he deserves for killing this woman. He is a heartless person and should have never been able to wear a police badge. Shame on the people who hired him and the people that kept him employed long enough to let this happen.Next up we are talking about Kamala Harris, our new Presidential Candidate for the Democratic party. Damn that sounds nice. The race has totally changed since this happened but Donald Trump is still the same racists, narcissists that he has always been. This guy hand the actual balls to go in front of a room full of Black Reporters at the NABJ conference in Chicago last week and show his entire ass. I mean the entire damn thing. He got put on "front street" from the moment he sat is ass down and it was a wonderful thing to see. There is a fabricated story coming out of the Paris Olympics having to do with a female boxer out of Algeria. Her name is Imane Khelif and her name is being dragged through the mud for no reason. It's a damn shame that people hear a story and they run with it. In this world of hate for anyone who isn't a certain race or looks a certain way or is anyway different from you people will disparage you. I'm not blaming the media I'm blaming hateful people because that's what it is. Keeping with the Olympics Cathy and I give the medal count as of Sunday evening and America is kicking ass. It's been a fun Olympic Games so far. The final story out of Wichita, Kansas about the stolen Jackie Robinson Statue is out. The big reveal will be happening Monday August 5th and a star studded group of former MLB'ers will be in attendance for the reveal. The person that stole the statue has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and the Legend of Jackie Robinson is alive and well at McAdams Field for eternity. Our last topic for the show is about Cathy and I going to see Deadpool & Wolverine in the theater. It was a great movie. It was very entertaining and that's all we will say until next week. I will be giving spoilers and you can't stop me. Y'all have a good week and we will see you next time for episode 113. If you want to add anything to our conversation please feel free to email us at victor50talk@gmail.com
Happy Friday and welcome to Episode 111 of 50Talk. The Hosts Victor and Cathy are glad you guys and gals are joining us again this week. Before we start the show we do have to let you guys know that we have been sick for the last ten days at least and our voices are not the best so please bear with us. Throughout the episode you will hear Victors voice do a lot of cracking and most of the time Cathy sounds like someone is holding her around her throat. We love you all so much, this is just what we do for you. This week we brought along a guest to join us and to talk about some serious stuff and also to have some fun as well. Welcome to the show our cousin Amber. We give a brief introduction of Amber and then we jump right into the tough questions and conversation. He first question is a tough one. In this world filled with guns and violence the question to Amber is " When you allow your kids to visit and sleepover other kids houses, do you ask the family if they have guns in the house and if so, how are they stored". Talk about an ice breaker, right? Our next topic of discussion is a quick story out of Texas from way back in 1982 that led to Robert Morris, Pastor of a Megachurch in Texas to resign from his position. He is being charged with Inappropriate sexual behavior with a girl when she was twelve years old. The lawyer for Morris said " “It was your client,” wrote lawyer J. Shelby Sharpe, referring to Clemishire at age 12, “who initiated inappropriate behavior by coming into my client's bedroom and getting in bed with him, which my client should not have allowed to happen.”So let me ask you all this next question. Is Vice President Kamala Harris a D.E.I. hire? This has honestly been a actual topic of discussion on media outlets the last week of so. The comments are coming from U.S. Politicians too. When do we start holding people responsible for the idiotic shit that they say? Sometime you think things but you shouldn't say them out loud. The 4th of July brought us another Nathan's Hot dog eating contest but this years contest was without Joey Chestnut. He decided he wanted to stuff his face with wings instead of hot dogs. Are you guys fans of eating competitions? We end this week's show with Amber with a bunch of Fun Family questions. She is a trooper and does a great job answering them. Cathy and I also jump in and answer them as well. We want to thank Amber for joining us this week and all you guys to for listening. We will see you next week for Episode 112.
Welcome back to 50Talk, your Hosts Victor and Cathy are glad you all could join us again this week. So this Episode we are doing something different. Our fine co-host Cathy will be taking over the show this week. She put the "outline" together and everything. The one thing that goes along with running the show and the conversations is the work afterwards editing and doing the show notes. We got to get her doing that as well. So our first topic brought to you all this evening is about "The Trump Train" in Lorain County Ohio and how we showed up and peeked at the festivities for a little while before the people took off to their trip around the county. Is was the typical Trump (crazies) as usual. You know people with there Trump flags and signs all over their vehicles. Nothing to epic happened at the Event but Victor got shocked by there being no "Rebel Flags" at all. We talked in our next topic about the NBA Draft that happened last week and how some of my Duke players were drafted and where they went. Cathy got going good in this topic. She was actually asking me about sports. She really is a magical lady. Next the Hosts talk about a New Documentary we watched las week called "The Brat Pack" on Hulu. This of course is based off movies and entertainers from our era back in the 1980's. Yes a really long time ago in a totally different world than todays. This documentary is fun because I even learned something's about then that I didn't know now. It really is a fun show. There are two documentaries that Victor watched this week with one of those referrals coming from Kyla (former guest). The other on is called "Tell them you love me". Give both a watch and tell us what you all think.Back to politics for our last subject of the week. This one is about that crazy ass debate from last week. Victor got so affected by the Debate that anxiety set n and ruined most of his next day. He was and is so worried about the two people we have to vote for. It's a damn shame where we are today with everything. We hope you all enjoy the show and if you have or want to add more to the conversation hit Victor with an email at victor50talk@gmail.com and we can keep it going. See you guys next week for Episode 110.
Welcome back to 50Talk This is episode 109 and your hosts Victor and Cathy are happy to be back with you guys after a little recovery and celebration time. This week we hope to get you guys involved with the conversation right off the back. Send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.com if you want to add anything to our conversation today or any past episodes to. We want to hear from you guys. We start the show off with some serious talk about how important this election is this year and why don't people realize some of our freedoms are on the line. Do some people believe that these potential new laws and setbacks won't apply to them? Do you think if abortions are illegal all over the country that that doesn't apply to anyone in your family because you are a lawmaker, a rich person or maybe even just a white person? Are you all okay with one person being in charge and that one person staying as long as he or she wants? I joined a Zoom meeting last night with my Uncle and his partner, My Uncle Dr. Byron Craig a past guest on the show and Dr. Steve Rahko both of Illinois State University and both co-editors of the book "Rupturing Rhetoric: The Politics of Race and Popular Culture since Ferguson. The topic of the talk was "Legitimacy Crisis" and it was the final part in a series of discussions they have had over time. They said that in order for a Democracy to work we need trust! As Americans as a whole their really isn't the same amount of trust in our government right now a it once had been. Why is that and how do we get that trust back to at least where it was?Cathy and I have been watching some pretty serious Documentaries the past week or so. I watched most of Anthem, on Hulu and we also watched together The Sixth, on Amazon Prime video and they both led to some serious conversation in this episode as well. Does a new Anthem that recognizes every American make you feel better about our country? Will a new anthem continue to get you to stand and take off your hat and put your hand on your heart with honor? Or do we just keep it all the same and continue to use what we have that surely doesn't represent all Americans? The Boston Celtics are NBA's new World Champions after crushing the Dallas Mavericks this week in the fifth game of the series this week. Is that who you guys pick to win it all? Caitlyn Clark is still at the top of the sports conversation since her WNBA career has started. She hadn't been playing the best early on and she also feels as if she was being targeted for some reason. Her team right now is on a four game winning streak and she is playing much better. Next week our first Presidential Debate is happening. They have some rules in play for the debate and the talk is "will Donald Trump show up"? The rules are funny and the way I see it is that rules are only made to be broken. Give it a listen and please, let us know your thoughts on the rules and if Trump will show up. I have the Audio version of the Anthem: We Are America. Tell me what you think about it. See you all next week for Episode 110.https://youtu.be/6ymWrMC1EAo?si=xvxLF0Jo4bSCWngY
Good Saturday morning and welcome back to 50Talk. This Episode 108 and we are glad you all decided to join Cathy and I again this week. Believe it or not but I was totally prepared for this episode this week with an outline but the more we got into the show the more I felt unprepared. This week has been one of the craziests in a long time. I jump right into the news immediately with a sad story coming out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Officer Jamal Mitchell (28) an Officer of the Department for less than one year was ambushed and killed responding to the scene of a shooting. He was honored last year after only being on the job for three days for running into a burning building and rescuing an elderly couple. Our first history making or history changing event of the week was The MLB finally allowing records from The Negro Leagues to be integrated into the Major Leagues records. The Negro Leagues records from the early 1920's to 1948 until Jackie Robinson integrated the sport. That change makes Josh Gibson te leading player in ML history with a batting average of .372 now ahead of Ty Cobb. We also have to recognize our two listeners who responded to last weeks question about knowing if they knew I played video games before I mentioned it on Episode 107. My fellow podcaster and video game brother Josh Brown and our dear friend Julie responded. Thank you both for your response. Cathy finally remembered what her and I talked about in the car two weeks ago. That's some "older people problems" we came to agree. This is a fun little segment to break up the show before we move on to the next story. Our biggests History changing event of this week is by far Former President Trump being convicted of 34 Felony counts. I know I have a strong opinion on this history but it would have given me a huge smile if he was put in handcuffs and hauled off to jail like every other Felon but that didn't happen. My fingers are still crossed though. e try not to get to deep in the mud with this but it is a little lengthy! Please, if you all listening could take the time to go to Vote.org and check the status of your voting registration. I know you are all hearing this a lot after thursdays conviction that "this is our most important election ever" but don't believe it is. I think it is and we need to show up at the polls like never before to keep this convicted felon out of the White House again. In the NBA Finals starting next week are the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics. Who you guys got winnin it? Send me your prediction at victor50talk@gmail.comFinally to end the show we update everyone on the Florida county Sheriff who killed U.S. Airmen Roger Fortson has been fired after an investigation. One small step at a time for justice. Hopefully! Thanks for joining us this week. We will see you and next week.
Welcome back to 50Talk, this is episode 107 and Cathy and I are glad to be back with you guys again this week. This is three in a row and we are on a roll! We are us having a great time hanging out with you guys lately. This week we have some good stuff to talk about. We get a little Politics heavy so if you don't like that then sorry for that. We have a little something special for you guys for our next episode. Just a little teaser to get y'all to come back next week. So stay tuned for that. Before we get into the meat of the show I have a show I think you all should watch if your a fan of music like me. It's on MAX and the name of the Documentary/series is Stax:Soulsville, USA. Let me know what you think about it. Our first topic of the show takes us to the yard of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's and his upside down flag that has the Press in a frenzy! While we were recording we had some "Breaking News" that his beach home was seen flying a White Supremacists flag, Our Supreme Court is becoming more and more of an embarrassment daily. We left you guys with a homework assignment last week for the show. I wanted someone to let me know what "A Domestic Dispute" is. I ended up doing the work myself so we will continue that conversation now. Next we have a topic that Cathy has brought to the table. It's been a minute since she has brought something to the table that gets me all worked up. So enjoy this next topic from Cathy. We have a couple sport stories up next on the lists. The New England Patriots have a new Coach and he is ready to speak up to the Owner on day one. I hope this new hire works out. He is a homegrown player/coach and I'm hoping for the best for him. Then we have to talk about the Kansas City Chiefs Kicker for his hate filled he gave at Benedictine College in Kansas. On to one of the worst places in our country, Texas (in my opinion) to Governor Greg Abbott and him pardoning a convicted murderer at a lack Lives Matter Protest. Why did Abbott pardon the guy? Our last topic is again sports related and one of my favorite hobbies and that is video games. After 14 years the NCAA has a football game coming out on July 5th and I'm all in. I can't wait to play as my Buckeyes and all that talent they have. See you guys next week for Episode 108. Don't forget to go to Vote.gov to check your election status.
Welcome back to 50Talk. Cathy and I are thrilled to be back with yo guys again for two consecutive weeks. I know you all think that's not a big deal but it is to me (Victor). We have been having some good numbers for the past month or so and that was no different last week. We really do appreciate you guys for supporting and listening to us. Before we get to far into things I had to bring up the Trump trial and what happened today and also on Monday. These Senators and Congressmen and women showing up to support this career criminal con-man Donald Trump. I think it's disgusting and it has to be some kind of ethics violation for these people. I hate to be that guy but "what if it was Biden or Obama" who was on trial for whatever? Would it be okay for Democratic politicians to be there supporting the? We can't have it both ways. The thief who took part in the stealing and dismantling of the Jackie Robinson Trophy in Wichita, Kansas was in court last week. The Prosecutor's are looking at charging him with 15 years in prison and $42,000 in restitution. Hopefully my next update will be him being sent to prison for his crime. In Shenandoah County,Virginia (close to Charlottesville) two schools in the area have changed their mind about taking former Confederate soldiers names off of those schools. Almost three years after the change and almost $1m of taxpayer money they are bringing those Confederate Soldiers names back to those schools. Why you ask? Good question, I'm still trying to figure it out to.The piece of crap kid from Ole Miss last week who shouted down an African American woman with monkey sounds got what he is due. James (JP) Staples has been removed from school and from his fraternity. Good for him! Our main topic of the week is the Police killing of U.S. Airmen Roger Fortson (23) in his apartment, which may have been the wrong apartment the police responded to the family is saying. He did come to the dor with a gun in his hand aimed down towards the ground and his finger was not on the trigger. This sparked a lot of emotion in both of us and we are still wondering why this had to happen. Just seems like black people aren't supposed to have guns or something. Listen to the discussion and tell me your thoughts. Please let me know what a "domestic dispute" really is.Please go to: Vote.org and check the status of your voter registration. Their is so much you can do their and please check it monthly leading up to the election. People are being removed daily from the voter roles so keep an eye on it leading up to the election. Thank you for joining us this week and join us again next week for Episode 107.
Welcome back to 50Talk. We ae glad you guys decided to join us this week after our two week hiatus. So much has been going on the past two weeks so Cathy and I are going to jump right into it. We have a lot of stuff to talk about. So within the last two weeks I was able to put in for retirement and to actually sign my retirement papers all in that time frame. While we were out West with the help of some great technology I was able to sign those papers as well and make May 1st my 1st official day of retirement. It feels good to be retired and stress free from the job that I had. I'm going to work on getting my body healthy after these two back surgeries before I figure out what I want to do. I have a couple ideas in mind. So, yes we went out west for a visit to Colorado to visit with family and to take in some sites. My Aunt Thelma had a surprise Birthday Party for my Uncle and it was the best. I seen family that I hadn't seen in over 8 years at least and some longer than that. It was great reconnecting with everyone over the week. Hopefully we can all be together again sooner than later.Next, Cathy gets into 8 things for adjusting to being retired. That made me feel old actually thinking about staying on some type of routine when we have kind of had a routine for years already. Great advice though and thank you Cathy for the topic.Cathy and I give another update to the Jackie Robinson story from I think January or February about the stealing of his statue in Wichita, Kansas. I really hope this guy get's sentence on Jackie Robinson Day in the MLB. That's karma...bitch!The University of Alabama Birmingham is stealing body parts from dead prisoners and giving their bodies back to the families with stuff missing. This is similar to a story Cathy and I discussed earlier this year to. How a City in Mississippi was just burying dead prisoners if no one received their bodies after they died. The city would just bury them i unmarked graves. To some, black bodies just aren't as important as others. Our main topic of the show this week is another Police killing of a black man in Canton, Ohio. Canton is about 30-40 minutes from us here in Elyria. Watching the police body camera video of this killing brought me back to the George Floyd killing and the emotions that I felt. I really think this Canton murder is worse. I'm so sick of this happening, when is it going to stop? When are the police going to listen when a black person says "they can't breathe", the police just expect you to stop resisting when they continuously repeat "stop resisting" and they aren't even resisting. Cathy and I went to see Civil War a couple weeks ago and it is quit the rollercoaster of a movie. I had all kinds of emotions and feelings about it. I didn't hate it and I can't say that enjoyed it either but it is a must see movie. It just has so many messages coming from todays America. There is a viral video out on the interwebs with a Black woman confronting white counter protesters at the Ole Miss University in Mississippi. It's very disturbing and it also lets me know that blatant racism still exists in this country. Don't be fooled! Thanks for joining us this week. I'm gonna sit down for a minute and get this knee right and hope to be back on the road real soon. See y'all next week for Episode 106.
Welcome back to 50Talk, this is Episode 104 and myself and Cathy are glad you guys decided to join us again this episode. We have a big week coming up and just finished up a busy conversation worthy week as well. Tomorrow the "Hush Money" trial for Donald Trump begins so I will label this week as " Trump is going to prison Week", This should be interesting to hear about. Jury selection starts and should take anywhere from two weeks to a month to find sixteen jurors. So far this month of April has been full of craziness and sadness and were only two weeks in. Listen up to all the things that happened just this week around Johnson Kingdom. It seems never ending but it is at a standstill right now as we go into another week. Real quick I would like to thank you guys for listening to us and spreading the word about 50Talk. Our last few weeks number wise have been great and we can't thank you enough. We've had a couple more police shootings around the country this past couple weeks. One in Chicago where a twenty-six year old man was shot and killed and in Akron,Ohio where a fifteen year old boy was shot once in the hand. We talk about these stories to much. When are they going to stop? The stories behind these shootings are all disgusting. Thank you Kyla for the Akron story. The biggest story of the week has to be the death of OJ Simpson. He died this week at the age of seventy-six from complications of Prostate Cancer. Everyone know the history of OJ Simpson and it all came flooding back this week with his passing. This has been a continuous topic of contention for Cathy and I for years and this death doesn't make it any different. We are having disagreements like a mother! Last but not least for this week's episode we talk about the Documentary Stormy on Peacock. With the Trump trial starting what better story to talk about and get familiar with again. So you guys enjoy "the week of Trump is going to jail" and we will see you all back here next week for Episode 105.
Welcome to a special Roundtable Conversation tonight where we will be talking about How Black Athletes Could Upset March Madness and End Attacks on D.E.I. Cathy and I are glad to join you all for this special episode. We have some guests along for the ride as well tonight. Our Uncle Bob, who is a regular listener and frequently sends us email question and comments. Also Our Uncle Michael who is a big sports fan and an awesome Uncle. We also have our Cousin Corey who was a former professional football player and Student Athlete as well. We start the discussion off talking about all the money the NCAA will be making throughout March Madness. Also we throw out some statistics from Colleges all across the country from 2018. So the African American student athlete has a lot of power if they decide to take a stand for D.E.I. and how important is is for everyone.Word around The University of Florida a couple of weeks ago is Administrators sent an email out announcing the elimination of D.E.I. They are also telling any athlete who plans to go to U. of F to take their talents to another school who still has D.E.I. Are African American Athletes prepared to do something like make a public stance for D.E.I. while this tournament is still going on? What type of public stance could they do? Do these young athletes know about Colin Kaepernick and the sacrifice he made when he took a public stance on Equality? Unlike the Kaepernick situation could these athletes all unite to do something to make an impact on the situation? Is it already to deep into the tournament for anything to even matter at this point? Why is D.E.I. important not just in schools but also in the work place? Please enjoy this special episode of 50Talk and if you have any comments or want to add anything to it please send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comThank you for listening.
Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 103 and the hosts of the show are glad you all have decided to join us again this week. We also hope you all had a great Easter Sunday and enjoyed the time with family and friends or however you choose to recognize the day. Cathy and I start the show of talking about our ever changing holiday experiences with our kids getting older. This Easter for most of the day it was just Cathy and I and our son Max and his girlfriend. Our oldest decided to stay at his house and celebrate with his little family and Griffin decided to stay in Columbus. We did pretty good considering all these changes. Our cousin Kyla posted on Facebook what everyone's dinner menu was. We tell ours but we want to know what you guys did. Did you have a traditional dinner or just a regular Sunday dinner? Did you go out and have an Easter Brunch or just go out to eat at a nice restaurant? Let us know what you did, hit me at our email victor50talk@gmail.comThe music world was all a buzz on friday with the release of Cowboy Carter. Beyonce's new album whis is supposedly a "Country Album. Cathy and I give our opinions on the album and some of our favorite songs. Their are 27 songs but only about an hour and a half long. What really makes an album a country album? Is it talking about your truck, your booze or a horrible break-up? Who is "allowed" to put out a country album? Are only certain people allowed too?Next we talk about the horrible boating accident that happened last week in Baltimore, Maryland. An entire bridge was destroyed and a community was handcuffed by the accident and the only thing some Republican politicians could say is "this is what happens with DEI, when illegal immigrant's get into this country. Yeah, I know it sounds stupid but this is where our country is these days. They are calling the African American Mayor of Baltimore the DEI Mayor. I'm not kidding!March Madness is still going on and last week at the girls tournament the Utah girls program had an incident where race played a part in a city and state that has a long history of racism. Also a State political figure in Michigan decided to post a picture on X saying illegal immigrants are invading the area. Turns out those busses were filled with basketball players. People tried to correct him but he doubled down on his racist comments. We want to do a round table discussion on Black Athletes and March Madness and the Impact they could have on DEI. We are planning to do this on Wednesday at 7:00pm est. We will stream it live on Facebook and also record on Zoom. Please come and join in on the discussion. I will post on our 50Talk Facebook page on Tuesday sometime. Last topic for the week is a talk on the documentary Quiet on the Set: The Darkside of Kids TV. This is on MAX and there are four episodes about an hour each and they are chilling. The stuff that went on is just terrible and knowing that our kids watched these shows makes it even more chilling. Thank you for joining us again this week and we will see you all for Episode 104 next week. Have a great week.
Welcome back to 50Talk, this is Episode 102 and Cathy and I are glad that you all have come back to join us again this week. The past week or so has been some interesting time. We got together with our Contest winner Marc and his lovely wife Julie last night and gave him his $25 Amazon Card and we hung out all evening drinking and hanging out. It was a good time with the both of them. We do want everyone to continue listening to the show for more contest and also the chance to possibly win something different. Since the last episode we've missed some things but we have an update and some added news to something we talked about in Episode 101. Don Lemon is back to work on his new YouTube/Podcast show. The shows name is The Don Lemon Show and his first guest was Elon Musk and it was a doozie of a first episode. This thing hit the mainstream media like a hurricane after it was recorded. I'll say that I was afraid of that guy (Elon Musk) after watching the episode. Dude had my anxiety on full tilt for a while afterwards.Monday is pay-up day for our favorite former President Donald Trump. He owes the State of New York $466m and if he isn't paid up tomorrow they will start taking his assets. This going to get fun over the next little bit of time to see how it plays out. Cathy is bringing a good topic to the show this week. "Men and Women, who ages faster and better"? This turns out to be a fun conversation and she has some numbers to go along with the topic too. March Madness is now in full affect right now. It's been an entire weekend of basketball at JohnsonKingdom. How is your Bracket doing after the first four days? Do you do a bracket or do you just watch for the hell of it? I'm going with Duke University to be the National Champion of 2024 but if not I think Houston will win it. The John Lewis Voting Rights Bill is once again trying to make its way through our Congress as we approach the 2024 election. A few different Senators are leading the charge this time around due to all the changes is red states the last couple election cycles. This has to get passed so everyone has the chance to equally get out there and vote. States are putting to many barricades in the way for some people in some communities. To close the show I have a P.S.A. for all the listeners. Be careful of what your doing on your computers, there are all kinds of different scams out there to get access to your most important information. If you get caught up in something that needs attention and you need help, if it doesn't feel right to you then don't do it. Stay Safe and keep your information safe as well. Thanks for listening this week and we will see you all next time for Episode 103.
Welcome to 50Talk, this is Episode 101 and as we move ahead to Episode 200 we are really glad that you guys decided to join us again. We have had quit a week and some good things to talk about in this episode. Before we get going let's mention that we did have a give-away in Episode 100 and all you had to do was tell us our Best Episode and how many downloads did it have. Well, we have a winner but your gonna have to listen to find out who it is. We wanted to start the show off with a question for everyone. Why don't men today remove their hats when they're at the dinner table or at a restaurant? I know back in the day and while I was in the military, when men walked into a building they removed their hat or cover. Cathy and I were out to breakfast on Sunday and after I sat down and took off my hat I looked around to see tons of men, even older men sitting with their families with there lids on. What's up with that? I've been reading so many books this week. I'm working on book number three as we speak. I've finished "Can't Hurt Me and Oath and Honor" a couple days ago. My Physical Therapist referred me to Can't Hurt Me because I think she could tell my motivation was down. Cathy got me Oath and Honor for Christmas an it was outstanding as well. We do get into a little conversation about A Fatherless Curiosity and what I have read so far and Cathy ask a couple of questions asked on the back of the book. Next up we pose the question "What is DEI and why is it dividing America"? If you pay any attention to the News you will see that a bunch of Southern States are getting rid of DEI. Why do you think that is? They (The Courts) have gotten rid of Affirmative Action a few years back so why go after DEI? The State of the Union was last week and off course we have our thoughts on that and the rebuttal from the Republican Party's Katti Britt. It just cracks me up how fear mongering has become such and important part of politics these days. This is what you have to do to win elections and stay in power? The Oscars were last night but I didn't watch but I have 20 of the best and worse dressed stars from the events night. Also with Oscar night Jimmie Kimmel made the news as the Host with a crazy dig on our former President after he got a review from Trump. To end the show we end with TikTok on the verge of being banned in America and our Kitchen wok is almost done. We will say 90% done and its like a new house and we love it. Thank you guys for joining us this week. Please let's continue some of the conversation. Send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.com
Welcome to our 100th Episode of 50Talk. Cathy and I would like to mark this momentous occasion with a great show and also some great conversation. We thank each and everyone of you for taking this journey with us over the last 100 episodes. We look forward to continuing to bring you a entertaining and unscripted podcast for at least another 100 episodes. We're sorry we couldn't get out a show last week but you all know what it is. Life just hits you sometime and changes your schedule. W do have some interesting things to talk about in this episode so please, enjoy this 100th episode.First we'll start off with some good and bad statistics from our last 10 episodes. Also the top listening device for 50Talk and Top locations around the world. Yes,I said around the world. I was just as surprised as you all were to. Your also gonna be shocked at the top territories as well. My first question to Cathy in the show is "What have we/you/I learned about ourselves since the podcast started. This has definitely been a learning process the last two years. I know I use this show as therapy. I love sitting down with Cathy and asking her these questions and hearing her response. I'm learning more and more about her as the show goes on. I proclaimed that the rest of 2024, until the election I will use this platform to get people out to vote. Get them registered to vote and to get them to realize how truly important it is to vote in this election. I know that's been said about elections before but this time it's the real deal. I was sitting down on the couch yesterday morning having coffee and this border issue just popped into my head. Why are so many people upset about this "border problem" and our own Lawmakers are playing politics with it. If they don't give a shit then why do you? This is the part in the show when I start getting loud and my passion starts to flow. We talk a little bit about "Forgiveness", is getting good at forgiveness good marriage advice? That's a great question right? I would love to hear from other married or committed people. Please send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.com I would love to hear from you guys about this. Don Lemon formerly of CNN just got paid from being fired three and a half years early. My guy is walking away with some fat ass pockets. I know he was controversial at CNN but I personally liked his interview style. The killers of Run DMC's Jam Master Jay have been sentenced, finally. After 22 years they are on their way to the Big House. What took so freaking long? Was this mans life not important enough to look into and convict the people who did this to him? Cathy has 20 things that people in their 50's have to worry about. I'm sure there are some over 50 people who don't have to deal with these but it is good fun conversation. Cathy and I sat down and put all these together, can you believe that? What in the hell is going on again in Alabama with this IVF ruling? Our Judges and Politicians need to get their heads out there assess and clear up what they mean by this ruling. We can't have our young daughters and granddaughters with less rights then what we have. All this shit is getting out of control. It's almost scary to even go south any more with all this religious craziness going on. Thank you all for joining us this week for our 100th Episode. Make sure you listen to episode 101 next week too. See you all next week.
Welcome to Episode 99 of 50Talk. Cathy and I are glad you guys could all join us again this week. We really do appreciate you guys giving us your time. Y'all need to brace yourselves for a crazy episode this week. This is one that could/should be scrapped! Their really is good content but just a little unorganized or erratic. My son was having some kind of issue upstairs while we were recording and Cathy just thought she could get up and go check on a 22 year old. Well, back to the subject at hand and that being Episode 99. This week we start off with a couple stories that carried over from Super Bowl weekend. Our halftime performer Usher tied the knot the same evening after performing the "Big Show", he married his longtime sweetheart Jennifer Goicoechea in a pretty private event. So congratulation to the happy couple. Also on Superbowl Sunday the "Black National Anthem" also Lift Every Voice and Sing was performed and racists Twitter/X or whatever it's going by these days went into a complete uproar. I seen State Representatives saying "Why do we need two National Anthems. All this does is further separate the country! I also seen some very mean comments from random people as well. Please do me a favor a look up the lyrics of The Star Spangled Banner, the actual National Anthem and pay attention to the words and get back to me. One more update on the stealing of the Jackie Robinson statue in Wichita, Kansas, finally someone has been arrested after almost three weeks. I hope to see some charges and see a conviction soon. The Nominees for induction into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced and it's a great list. I love seeing musicians that I grew up on making it into the Hall of Fame. It makes me feel old but in a good way. I have to talk about the week Donald Trump had last week. I thought is was great for him and long overdue. He is finally being held accountable for his actions. Also he has a trial date of March 25th for his campaign finances violation in New York. He thought he was going to further drag that case on as long as he could but the judge has other plans. To close the show we mention the death of Alexi Navalny in a Russian prison. This was Putin's biggest and most outspoken rival. That why he had him put in prison. Old Donnie Boy hadn't mentioned the death until today by saying that "Biden is treating him just like Putin did Navalny". Once again I call bullshit on that to. Thank you for joining us again this week we are sorry for the scatter-talk and we both promise to fix it later this week to make it up to you guys. See y'all next week for Episode 100.
Welcome to 50Talk. This is Episode 98 and your host Cathy and Victor are super happy to be back with you guys again this week. The big game was Sunday night and of course we have to talk about it. I know I personally didn't watch a bunch of NFL football this season but I have to jump in on all this Taylor Swift stuff. What did you guys think of the Usher halftime show? Was it everything you thought "The KIng Of Pop" would bring you? We have a review of all that. Enjoy this episode. With the Super Bowl being over now, we have to talk about the price for a ticket to be in the building. This event is no longer for the diehard fan. As a matter of fact I don't even think its for the casual fan. It has become a "Rich people social Event". If you don't have throw away cash your not getting in. I'm sorry to say that but that is just how it is today. The ticket prices are going up higher and higher every year and this year is no different. No, we can't blame Joe Biden for this, we look right to the big guy of the NFL. With it still being Black History Month we talk a little bit about Ruby Bridges. The little girl who was 6 years old and was the 1st black girl to break the color barrier in Louisiana back in 1960. I have an article with a reporter interviewing her about what it's like living black history. This weekend our former President put his foot completely in his mouth, or at least he should have before he let out the words he said about Captain Haley and where is he also about his ongoing love for Putin and his hatred for N.A.T.O. and those countries who he thinks don't pay enough. I'm not shocked that dummy says the things he does but damn bro. He just don't give a shit anymore. He just knows that his crazies will still support him. I want someone to come on the show and please debate me and make me understand that what Trump said is okay. Please send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.com if your interested. I need this, I got a lot of stuff to get off my chest about all of this. We had another shooting out west in the "Great State of Texas" at a Super Church. Please don't let this situation be the new way these Terrorists do there mass shootings. I'll keep saying it until we get common sense gun legislation. No one should be able to walk into a church carrying a weapon of war in the United States of America. This has to stop! We end the show like we have the last few episodes with some fun questions. I continue to stump Cathy with these questions. That's why I like ending the show like this lately. One of my questions is "Do you believe in Heaven". Guess what each of us said. Thank you all for joining us gain this week. We're almost at Episode 100 so please stick with us. We've been on a roll lately putting out episodes. Thank you for listening.
Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 97 and Cathy and I are glad that you guys are back with us for another episode. We hope you guys enjoy this episode as much as we had recording it. In honor of the early part of Black History month we want to mention update you guys on a story we talked about last week.Last week a statue of Jackie Robinson was stolen and vandalized in Wichita, Kansas. Well so far no one has been arrested but the statue was found by the fire department on fire in a dumpster. Enjoy the update to this story, things are looking good for the baseball league.More Black History stories of things happening this week. A couple of people who I enjoyed watching and listening to in different phases of my life have passed away. Carl Weathers and Joe Madison both passed this week. Both of these men were in their 70's and will be missed by a lot of people I'm sure. Cathy and I have decided that 2025 will be the year we take our first cruise. The Glovesons (Glovers & Johnsons) will be joining forces again for a trip one one of the newest ships out there. Eric and Johnna have been our friends for quite some time. We were all together the past summer showing them Ohio. So we are looking forward to this trip next year. This next story is funny but nasty as well. A passenger flying Frontier Airlines got herself in trouble by drinking obviously to much on the flight. She got herself some Federal charges for those extra drinks. This story is right from the crazy mind of Victor. You have to love America and the crazy shit that goes on. We watched and completed a couple different shows this week. We watched the Documentary "We Are The World" on Netflix and it was pretty awesome. We also finished the series Succession on Max. Listen to our thoughts on both shows and tell us if you watched either one of them. We had a big passionate discussion on Social Media because a lot of Social Media owners were in front of the U.S. Congress this week. That obviously turned into a complete train wreck, as they usually do with this "Do Nothing Congress" these days. Add to that a Pennsylvania man posted a somewhat disgusting video on YouTube that remained on their for over five hours. What is going on with these social media companies? We end the show with more fun questions and also with Super Bowl Sunday coming up next week. We want to know who you guys think will win the big game. Thank you all for joining us this week as we work our way to Episode 100. See you all next week for Episode 98. Bye!
Welcome to 50Talk, this is Episode 96 and after a couple weeks off and a back surgery we are happy to be "Back" with you guys Thanks for joining us again. After a week of bad pain and the 2nd week of not so bad pain I am finally able to bring you all some joy. We will try this episode to not have the show filled with to much political talk but their will be some so brace yourself. I will not be talking about my buddy Donald Trump and him having to pay $83.3m to one of his victims. I'll save that for later on down the road. Our 1st topic of the show is about Nikki Haley and how Cathy made a Facebook post and is seeing her some type of way. Thursday Alabama became the 1st state in the Union to use nitrogen gas to execute a prisoner. I personally think an eye for an eye and don't really care how a killer is put down but I can be politically correct to. The prisoners spiritual counsel believes or said "it was torture and the worst thing he had ever seen". So unfortunately it could be the last one. We have a little bit of an update to a story we talked about in the fall out of Mississippi about a man who was killed by an off-duty police officer. The Attorney Ben Crump is looking into 215 bodies buried in Pauper's field. We will keep you all updated o any further info from this in the future a well. One more political story on the docket, is Tm Scott the former candidate for President just sold the rest of his soul to that devil Donald Trump and a recent victory speech after the New Hampshire Primary. This man "Tim Scott" is something else and will do anything for power. Next up I found some fun questions to ask Cathy and hopefully you listeners will join in with us as well. My email to join is victor50talk@gmail.com we would love to hear from you guys. Last up for this episode as we get closer to Black History Month we have a story out of Wichita, Kansas about a statue of Jackie Robinson being stolen from a local baseball organization. So if your in Wichita, Kansas be on the lookout for a statue of the Legend Jackie Robinson. Thanks for joining us this week and leading up to Episode 100 in the next few weeks. We will see you all next week.
Happy New Year everyone and welcome to Episode 95 of 50Talk. This week we have a quick visit from "Wolverine" on the show and a wife (Cathy) eating breakfast while we record. Aside from all that craziness we have a pretty good show for you guys this week. We hope you all celebrated bringing in the New Year safely and with loved ones or at least the people you want to be in your life for 2024. Cathy and I kept it pretty chill this year. I don't think I had a drink all day and that's cool with me. I enjoy ringing in a new year with my lovely Cathy. This may be our 30th New Year with each other. This past weekend we took a family trip to the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo with our son and Grandson. On the way I stopped and got gas and I have got to thank our President Joe Biden for the gas being $2.19. I know he doesnt get credit for anything good in this country but Victor really appreciates you Mr. President. Even though he has nothing to do with the price of gas. We watched the new Netflix Stand-up Comedy show from Dave Chappelle this past weekend and it was another great hour of Dave Chappelle doing comedy the way only he can do. The show is called The Dreamer and it very entertaining and funny but I know some people ay be offended but we both enjoyed it. We also watched a Documentary from Alexandra Pelosi (Nancy Pelosi's daughter) called The Insurrectionists Next Door. While it was very entertaining at the same time it is scary as hell that their are people in this country that think the way these people think even after they have been charged with felonies and are about to be sent to prison. Shit this is just America so when you are out their living your life be careful out there because people out and about think just like these crazies. Cathy came with some "What is" questions that all made me sit back and think about them really seriously. She never fails to get this old head thinking about life and emotions and just being aware of things. Thank you all for joining us this week. We hope you will continue to support us by listening to our show through out 2024. We will see you all next week.
Welcome back to 50Talk. After a two week hiatus Cathy and I are really glad to be back with you guys. It was just the right time to take a couple weeks off and hopefully refocus and then get back on the wagon. We have a few things to talk about this week so sit back and enjoy the show. Our first topic is about the remodeling of our bathroom and the horror story that is was and continues to be. I had to take my self-pride and just sit on it because Cathy and I have been waiting to long for this to get done. It's a long story so brace yourself for it. With Christmas just behind us we have to talk about how our holiday was. We continue to see family change and become their own people. Our grandson is just becoming a great kid. We see the differences in him this Christmas. He was so proud to buy for his Johnson Family and we all loved every minute of it. We have to have some political topics and of course we don't disappoint. Texas and S.B.4 and the crazy Governor Abbott are front and center. This guy just continues to prove what a monster he really is and all the Crazies of Texas and the Republican Party. Top that off with Nikki Haley and her lack of response to a question about the cause of the Civil War. Just an F.Y.I. to anyone who believes if you don't want to teach history that doesn't mean it didn't happen.Trump is off the ballot right now in Colorado but he is also still on the ballot in Michigan. Anything can change before votes are cast and counted. Keep your eyes and ears open for any changes to this story. Happy New Years to everyone and Cathy and I want to thank you for a great year and we look forward to entertaining you guys in 2024 as well.
Welcome to Episode 93 of 50Talk. The hosts are glad that you all could join us again this week. We do have a few things to talk about this week so let's get into it. Cathy and I had a family wedding to attend last weekend in the Pittsburgh area. Your boy has changed over the years since I stopped being a fan of the NFL. I used to hate the thought of going into the enemies area, but I'm past all that. I really did look forward to seeing the area and seeing family. The Wedding was amazing. Congratulations to David & Marissa, you guys had a beautiful wedding and we hope you all have a long and wonderful marriage. Cathy and I talk a lot about our time in Pennsylvania and the area we stayed in. Latrobe is a nice quiet little town but I was honestly shocked at how small it was. How do you guys get into the Christmas spirit? Cathy and I have been struggling getting into the Christmas mood. I thought it was all taken care of just by listening to Christmas Music but we need more. We do have the "Glover Christmas Party" coming up in a week or so and we are both looking forward to that. Email us how you all get into the spirit. We would love to hear what you do. (victor50talk@gmail.com)We also get into our/mine mental state with it being the 2nd Anniversary of the passing of my oldests brother. It's been tough seeing the sky and outside look like it did when he passed and also the memories of putting my Mom in a nursing home. I know I'm not the only one struggling but it feels good to talk about everything. The main conversation of this episode is what's going on in "The Great State of Florida" with Ron DeSantis and his merry band of Republican crazies. You are never gonna believe this story. As we talked about this we are obviously talking our way through understanding it all. The craziness with these Republicans is insane! Thank you all for joining us this week. Be sure to look for Victor on 50Talk.5 also everywhere you find 50Talk. Bye...Bye
Welcome back to 50Talk, this is episode 92 and your hosts Cathy & Victor are back to bring you another entertaining and conversation filled episode. We are all just off of a Thanksgiving holiday weekend and we hope everything went well in your homes. Things were great at JohnsonKingdom. The kids are still growing up and we all had some great conversation and food. What did you guys think of some of the days entertainment? We had Cher in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and a few other entertainers from the GenZ generation. We also had Dolly Parton on stage during the Dallas Cowboy game in a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader outfit. I have my own opinions on all of it but let us know what you thought. Send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comSaturday was the best day for College football all around the country but here in Ohio we had Ohio State vs Michigan. One of the oldests rivalries in football, but once again it was a loss for my Buckeyes. I give my opinion on the game and on the Coach. We were also out shopping in Columbus on Sunday afternoon and the town was dead! I wonder what that was all about. There is still some time for the Cyber Monday Deals. Get out there on-line tonight before the sales end. Hit up Best Buys for some good deals. Y'all remember those days when people would eat dinner then go stand in line at their favorite stores in the freezing cold just to trample someone for a Furby? I think those days are over, thank goodness for that. As a guy who can't go shopping after Thanksgiving I love the way it is now.Former Minneapolis Policeman Derek Chauvin got stabbed in prison. Do you care or should we even give a damn? His Mom thinks y'all should care because he can't be home for Thanksgiving Dinner or to even touch! How do you know if your kids are growing up or are starting to see life differently? This weekends conversations have got Cathy thinking and she is so proud of what she is seeing, as well as I am to. Seeing your kids grow up is sad in some ways but great in other ways. Our last two topics are also topics Victor will dive further into on his new podcast called 50Talk.5. I'll be discussing some of the things that I have passion for like the mistreatment of Black and Brown folks. The topics are two black men killed by police. One in Atlanta and the other in Alabama by tasers. Thank you all for joining us again this week. Don't forget to look up 50Talk.5 the same place you find 50Talk.
Welcome to 50Talk, this is Episode 91 and your Host's are glad that you guys decided to join us again this week. We have a lot of things to talk about in this episode. So get yourself a drink or two or three and maybe a couple tissues. It's Thanksgiving week an are you all ready for turkey? How do you like your turkey? The traditional way, deep fried or smoked? It varies around Johnson Kingdom sometimes. To start the show off I have to bring up our new Speaker of the House. Did you all know that this dude doesn't have a bank account of record? This the craziest thing I've heard in awhile. How do you make it in America today without a bank account? Cathy did make some good points in the show but I still think he's trying to hide something. He is not this clean cut Christian Guy that he tries to portray himself a. I'm personally not falling for it. Release your damn bank records dude!In the African American History category for the show were going to talk about the great news about 110 Buffalo Soldiers wrongfully convicted almost a hundred years ago. Some were hung and killed others were just put away for life. I'll say again, "if we don't learn from history, we are destined to repeat it". Our country has its flaws then and still today we have the same flaws. Next up in the show we talk about a news story I found earlier this week out of Mississippi. This is probably one of the most horrific things I've ever heard and some people have some explaining to do. Things like this should not be happening in America today. This just makes me sick to my stomach. Staying on topic with African Americans and how they continue to be mistreated. Cathy and I watched a documentary called "Silver Dollar Road" on Amazon Prime Video. What this proves to me is Americans are still gauged by how much property they have or don't have! This story is out of Beaufort, North Carolina. If you get the chance to watch this please do.Next up Cathy and her expertise bring up the subject of Depression and anxiety. Something that I deal with daily and I'm sure millions of others do as well. I always say I like to keep it real on our podcast so here it is raw from my heart. Thank you all for joining us this week. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your families. See y'all next week fo episode 92.
Welcome back to 50Talk. This Episode 90 and this week Cathy and I have some fun in store for you all. Fresh off the press machine. I am fresh off an entire weekend of celebration and free food. I want to say thank you to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday (Marine Corps) and a Happy Veterans Day. Also thanks to our local restaurants who participated in free meals for the Veterans. This was honestly the 1st time I ever participated in this type of Veteran celebration in the thirty somethings years I have been out. Before we get the show going we first have to talk about what I call "Fake Patriotism", I still think there are a lot of people doing it because a certain person comes off as a fan of the Veterans. My question to all those people who follow that person is, the two can't go together, it's just not possible in my eyes. Listen to our debate and tell me your thoughts. Send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.comWe can't have a Sunday afternoon in the fall and not talk about The Ohio State Buckeyes. We are just off our victory over Michigan St. and also two weeks away from Michigan week. Michigan and the NCAA have decided to suspend the coach for the last three games. Our discussion gets more into what happened and what that means for the kids and this season and last seasons wins. Cathy and I went to see The Marvels and we have our review o the movie. It looks like other Reviewers are to impressed with the weekends box-office numbers up to friday evening. I always say, "listen or read a lot of reviews and form your own opinion on going to see it". Not everyone has the same opinions on everything. There was a Republican Presidential Debate this week and as usual it was a complete shit show. From the first moment future President Ramaswamy lit into the Republican Party and the Leader of the Party and it was down hill for him the rest of the debate. He was just upset because Democrats in Ohio just kicked hisParties ass at the polls a few hours before the debate. One more topic on Politics before we close the show is Republican Presidential Candidate Tim Scott. My guy showed off his girlfriend afterwards and Americans and I just have to comment on it.Cathy and I have started on a new adventure today with Pampered Chef. We will be consultants (mainly her) and hosting an online party all next week. Check out our 50Talk Facebook Page for the link to check things out. Thank you all for joining us this week. See yall next week for Episode 91.
Welcome to Episode 89 of 50Talk. Cathy and I are happy to be back with you all this week. Your boy got a bit worked up last week a little bit but I hope this time I can be a little more calm. If not, than oh well! This week with the Holiday Season getting closer were going to hitting you in the pocket on this episode. Before we get to far ahead of things I have to talk about McDonalds and their pricing and also their slow ass service. I don't eat fast-food a lot but damn Mickey D's! This place is gouging it's consumers with these crazy ass prices. What are your thoughts on their high prices? Last week while browsing Facebook I seen an article and video clip of Deion Sanders tell the media that his team got robbed! Some of his players had some jewelry stolen out of their lockers during the game. That hate and vitriol from some people was horrible. I have my opinions on these kids and all this money they are making but no one deserves to be robbed as a guest at someone house. Daylights Savings time was yesterday. How are you all feeling today? Did anyone forget to turn back their clocks? Cathy and I were both confused on whether this was even still a thing. It is and we still don't know why. Well anyway if you live in Ohio, welcome to the darkest five months. Today we are going to talk about Polls. Are any of you paying attention to the Presidential Polls already? Should we be paying attention now? Personally I still think it's to early but it seems like every type of Media outlet has a poll and this early in the game, I call bullshit!Next up we're going t hit you guys with a list of Oprah's favorite things and also some of the "hottests tech gifts" on the market. Also, being the gamer that I am we're going to list some o the best video-games coming out in November and December. That's our Holiday Gift to you all. We will post the lists on our 50Talk Facebook Page so you all can see them too. Happy Veterans Day to all Veterans past and present and Happy Birthday to the United States Marine Corps. 248 years old sure does look good on Us! See you guys next week for Episode 90.
Welcome back to 50 Talk, this is Episode 88 and Cathy and I are glad to be with you guys this week after a little time off. A lot has happened since we last spoke so make sure you get your popcorn and your Pop because its about to get crazy. This week we start the show off by talking about what we discussed in the last episode and that was the family stuff we had to deal with. This week we more or less walk you guys through the process of how we came to the decisions that we did. It really was an emotional weekend and we did a lot of talking through out. Teamwork and talking with each other really is a good thing. Next, since it's been almost two weeks since we've done a show we get into what's going on in Israel and The Gaza Strip. I've been trying to wrap my head around everything that's been going on and thats been difficult. I'm trying to find out who did right and who did wrong and all I can come up with is that humanity is losing. To many innocent people and kids are being killed on both sides. A couple Republican Presidential Candidates have dropped out of the race and all I can say about both of them is "what took you so long"? Keeping with Politics we have to mention the new House Speaker and the shit show that is the Republican Party. Well Mike Johnson (no relationship) a Republican out of Louisiana found a way to get the entire party to vote for him. Can you believe that? I give a little history on our new Leader and it is truly up to par with the Extremists Party. They picked the right guy to represent them and their party. Next up we talk about the Mass Killer (terrorists) out of Lewiston, Maine. If you haven' heard he killed 18 people this week and was on the run for a couple days. The State Representative out of that district is Maine has a change of heart on automatic weapons all of a sudden. We also talk a little bit about mental illness and what my thoughts are on this terrorists and his illness. Enjoy this episode and we will see you all next week.
Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 87 and your hosts are both happy to be back with you all today. This episode for us this week is both personal to our hearts and hopefully some good advice to other Interracial couples. Cathy and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary last week and that was just as our personalities are and that is pretty laid back and simple. We had a couple of hours of alone time and exchanged gifts and reminisced about the past 27 years. We also had some family in town visiting and it was my Moms 81st birthday. I was a beautiful celebration for her. So many smiles and lots of laughter with family celebrating her 81 years. Those moments are always cherished with family, and we enjoy all the time we can with family even if it's only for a few hours or a few days. Let's talk about the shit show that is the Republican Party, and all the goings on this week with the Speaker of The House and Matt Gaetz getting Kevin McCarthy removed. I really don't know why this happened and why at this time. I have been seeing some rumblings in other news paper articles that have an opinion on all of this. I tell who the two "potential" candidates are who want to fill the vacant seat. More misery and head scratching in these two picks from my opinion. Sorry for the technical issues for a minute in the audio. My computer froze up but at least the recording kept going. After the problems we get into 8 Tips on Navigating an Interracial Relationship. Also as we go we try to give examples of the various points and how they have impacted our relationship over the 27 years. Also real quick we also give some challenges that you may face as an interracial couple. This leads into our main topic of "Family Dynamics" and the impact they have had and are having in our 27 years of marriage. Believe it or not we still do have outside influences who affect our relationship. As the couple we are, of course we continue to move forward in life. This is a good topic considering all the good things, and all the family things Cathy and I were involved in this week. We hope you enjoy the show and please. If you have any comments or want to get in touch with us please hit our email at victor50talk@gmail.com If your offended by anything sad and your in our lives you know how to reach us. See y'all next week for Episode 88.
Welcome to 50Talk Episode 86. Cathy and I are once again glad to be with you guys again this week. We hope we can entertain you guys and we hope to bring up sme good conversation. Also some good thought provoking conversation. So welcome to October, this is our 27th Wedding Anniversary week so we want to start the show off by talking our wedding week in 1996 and what was going on and what people were listening and partying to. So grab your headphones and a nice quiet spot.....Let's Go!First we are going to start with the Top 10 songs in the country and in Europe for the week of October 1st, 1996. I know Cathy and I are familiar with this number one song because one of our favorite Cleveland Indians (Guardians now) used to play this each time he went up to the plate. The song is Macarena by Los Del Rio. Enjoy listening to the next nine songs. Next we go to the top 10 songs on the Rock Charts. These songs are also a part of me at that time in my life. I was heavy into the Grunge/Alternative music scene back in the day so I really enjoy looking back at all these songs. The number one song on the Rock Charts for the week of October 1st was What I Got from Sublime. That was my jam back in the day. Also enjoy listening to the rest of the top songs. Next we move on to some things that were going on the week of October 1st, 1996. I'm not even gonna ruin it in the description so your really going to have to listen to find out. We go on a little bit more and I ask Cathy what she remembers the most from that beautiful October day. This is fun and then she asks me the same thing. We definitely recall some different things. So it's cool to see what was on her mind as well as mine. Someone has finally been arrested in the murder of Tupac Shakur. It's only been 27 years but I know I never thought the day would come but here we are with someone finally in custody. We briefly talk a little college football and also a movie that Cathy and I sat down and watched on friday evening. If you all get a chance go and watch Antebellum. We watched it on Amazon Prime Video. The movie came out in 2022 so it is a little bit older but still a very "thought provoking Movie". I tried not to give spoilers but I may have slipped a little bit. We will hopefully be talking about the movie again in episode 87 next week. Next up and the final topic of the show is on the 2nd Republican Presidential Debate from early last week. Who won this debate, who stood out above the others or whom did you all think did the best. Of course I'm going to give you all my honest opinion. So for sure grab a quiet spot and grab your headphones and listen up. Thank you all for joining us this week as we get closer to Episode 100. See yall next week. If you want to get in touch with us please do so at victor50talk@gmail.com
Welcome to Episode 85 of 50Talk. Cathy and I are glad to back with you guys again this week. We are still on our groove putting this show out regularly. We're putting this out right before your lunch or your drive home. Don't forget about our Social Media sites if you want more of us. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Also if you use TunedIn for your podcast listening you can find us there now. We got a couple emails since the last episode and we are so happy So thank you Marc and Kyla for taking time out of your day to get in touch with us. First up is Kyla's topics and she wanted to know our opinion on the NetFlix docu-series Painkillers. We had already talked about that previously but thank you any way. She also wanted to know our opinion on the song "Bongos" by CardiB and Meagan The Stallion. Well now that you mentioned it we have an opinion....Of course! My man Marc also hit us up on our email wanting to know my stance on Deion Sanders and his career on the field compared to his coaching now at Colorado. I think Marc misunderstood my feeling about Deion but I hope I cleared it up. He also mentioned my support of Colin Kaepernick. I hope we answered your questions Marc and Thank you for the email.I watched the disastrous game this week against Oregon and they just didn't looked prepared for what Oregon was bringing. I think with all this hype the kids and coaching staff are getting lost. I think the loss will get them re-focused and back to earth. You just can't win them all the time. I have every confidence in Deion and his team. We also talk a little bit about Customer Service. This week I had a horrible interaction with SiriusXM and their automated texting/chat. Is this what we all are going to have to deal with from now on? Has Customer Service turned into this? Next up we talk about "getting to comfortable in your relationships" and Cathy is bringing the knowledge. Y'all know we use this show as therapy so grab your chairs and buckle up. Your hearing this raw and uncut. Also, what do you guys do on "quiet days"? Days like that are the best. You get to grab a book or magazine and just chill. Are you al having them as well? Last up this week is my appearance on the Michael Smerconish Show on SiriusXM. I had a chance to call in and it was pretty cool I think. You can hear the phone call on our 50Talk Facebook page and also we continue the conversation from his show this week. We hope you guys enjoy the show and we will see you all next week.
Welcome back to 50Talk. This is episode 84 and your hosts are glad that you all could join us again and talk about the things that we feel are relevant today and worthy of further conversation. We would love for you guys to join in on the conversation to. Please send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.com and also join us on our Social Media sites. That being Facebook, Instagram and the TicTok. This week we start the show off with a Facebook post that I noticed this week. The topic of the post was "He can cook, he is neat, he knows God, he doesn't drink, he sticks to one woman and doesn't cheat. Where is he?" The first comment I seen set me off but I decided to keep reading comments only to get more pissed. What was the point of the post and what does that say about people. Cathy and I try to make a conversation out of this post. Let's stay on the topic of Social Media a little while longer. Why do some people have to post every damn thing on Social Media? I've seen people post relatives in bed dying, relative dead in a coffin and their prayers to God a if he is on Social Media. Is there anything that's private or personal anymore? I read a few articles this week about the Republican Presidential Candidate Tim Scott and the fact that he isn't married or that he doesn't have kids. He's a 56 year old man running for the biggest office in the world. Most Presidents have been married in the history of the U.S. Is this a problem for you? What if he was actively dating while in the White House? Who is going to be our 1st Lady? This week Pennsylvania State Troopers finally tracked down a prisoner who escaped custody almost two weeks ago. This guy was running around stealing shit, he got his hands on vehicle and a rifle. The problem with the story is once they tracked him down they just had to take a picture with there "Hunt". Does this type of behavior bother you and what are your thoughts of them doing it in public? Rolling Stone Magazines Co-founder Jann Wemmer has been removed from his seat with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Leadership due to some comments he made about his new book and his lack of interviewing Black Woman and Black Men. In 2023 we still are letting people white wash our history and our impact on a lot of things. Black men and women I feel are the reason we have Rock & Roll. Without them their would be no Rock & Roll. This season of College football so far has been the best. My Buckeyes gave me a good solid win this week going into Notre Dame week and Deion Sanders and his Buffaloes are still doing amazing things on the football field. He has these kids playing at a high level and they are all so disciplined. They came out on top of a dogfight with Colorado State late last night after double overtime. They are really fun to watch but next week against Oregon could be the real test. This week we Recognize the 60th Anniversary of the bombing of The 16th St. Baptists Church in Birmingham, Alabama where four little girls died. That was a tragic day in our history but let's not forget and learn from it and move forward together. Ignoring this history won't make it go away. We all need to look it in the face. Cathy and I had the honor of visiting that church last year and we both realized that it's a special place. Thank you all for joining us this week. We will see you all next week for Episode 85.
Welcome back to 50Talk. We are glad you all decided to join us again. I personally hope I didn't scare anyone off after last weeks intense episode. Hey I can't help it, I get passionate about somethings and coffee doesn't help either. This week Cathy and I are back on track to start this fall season. We're getting the show out on time and promoting our Social Media sites. We do hope to start getting some guest back on to join in on the conversation. So back to Episode 83. Let's Get It!This week we start the show off by talking about some College Football. We are into week two of the season and the games have been incredible. Kind of feels like the season just picked up where it left off. My team is undefeated and Alabama has one loss. What I really want to talk about is Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes. They are the talk of sports these past few weeks and so far they deserve it. Shadeur Sanders is playing at a high level and deserves the praise he's been getting. Listen to me go on about how Deon got to Colorado and what he did for his son. Victor wants to know "What is going on in our bedroom" . Get your minds out of the gutter, but this is a good conversation that I think we all can relate too. At least I think. We have this big giant bed we don't use half of it. Enjoy this conversation and if you want to add more to it please send us an email at victor50talk@gmail.comNow we both want to know "why people change in relationships", we've been together for almost 30 years and man is the relationship changing. We are not perfect and we really do want to hear from you guys about what you think is the deal. We may come across as if we aren't getting along but we are. We're just fine, we're just trying to figure some things out as we move forward. I had a medical procedure last week and Cathy told me I'm a horrible patient! Well, why am I a terrible patient you ask? I just don't like pain and when it's around it could possibly change everything. So you never know what kind of patient your gonna get.Why did the NFL allow YouTube Television customers the ability to purchase The Sunday Ticket? For years it's only been on Directv and that's it. Why all of a sudden did they switch? I have a theory but to me the NFL can kick rocks on whatever platform. Staying with the entertainment, Cathy and I (mostly me) have been watching Lioness on Paramount TV and Ahsoka on Disney Plus. They have to be the summers best shows in mind any way. If you have either of those services you have to check them both out.To end the show we close it with a big "Congratulations" to Coco Gauf for winning the U.S. Open. Her first Grand Slam title and she is only 19 years old. This win didn't come without controversy though. Her opponent was pushing the limits during the entire match. We discuss and my rationale is Whit Fragility of this new word I heard today, "Caucasity". You tell me what you think about what happened and her response. Thanks for joining us this week, We hope to see you all back next week for Episode 84 and as we move closer to our 100th episode.
Good afternoon and welcome to 50Talk. This is Episode 82 and Victor and Cathy have a great show lined up for you all. This episode is filled with passion. You can tell by me (Victor) getting all hyped and sweaty. We do want to say we love having the difficult conversations and that also would like to continue those difficult conversations. If you want to continue please send me an email at victor50talk@gmail.com . I would love to hear from you all. This week we start the show talking about our family reunion we just had over the past weekend. The McKinney, Craig & Austin Annual Reunion was a success. Cathy and I joined with six or seven other family members over the last few months and planned this whole thing out. We are all very happy with the outcome. We hope you enjoy that conversation and also al the statistics Cathy laid out for family reunions. She is definitely the brains of this organization. We work our way into the next conversation straight off of Family Reunion talk because we got a book from our Uncle Bobby. "The 1619 Project Born On The Water", it's a children's book and man, let me tell you. This sparked some serious conversation between Cathy and I even before we hit record. So brace yourself and get ready for this. That transitions right into our next topic with that being the Republican Presidential Debate that took place lasts Tuesday on Fox News. My opinion about the debate is up front and I also give my well wishes to the person whom I think helped their Presidential Campaign the most. Also in this part of the conversation we have to talk about "The Monster" that is Vivek Ramaswamy. This guy is a clear and present danger to America and he has to be put out of the race. I knew the 1st time I seen him on CNN with Don Lemon that he was nutts. That conversation transitions to the 18 Mugshots an 18 indictments including Former President Donald J. Trump with his "Legendary" mugshot. This dude thought about the tough guy face he was gonna put on so he could Con his followers into giving him money and make himself out to be the victim (like he always does). We also talk about "White Christian Nationalists" and what they are all about and also a Netflix five part series I watched called "The Family" about this religious group that infiltrates our politics starting way, way back in the days. They are the people who started the Presidential Prayer Breakfast. We hope you guys enjoy this episode as much as we did recording for you. My passion is on Full display this entire episode. Also thanks to coffee for getting me all hyped up this morning. Enjoy the show and we hope to see you all next week.
Welcome back to 50Talk. This week Cathy opens the show. How special is that? We are happy to be back this week. We have a lot to talk about because we have been doing a lot. I love Cathy's (scripted) opening, she said " Hopefully we can give you some valuable information and spark some conversation" . We would love to continue any conversation we have with you guys. We know that sometime ya'll be yelling at us on the other end and just want to keep the debate going. We understand that. Just send us an email and we can continue the conversation. Hell, we could even get you on the show to finish things or just agree to disagree. We're cool either way. That's what we're for. We went to Louisville, Kentucky last week and had a blast. We loved the city and we look forward to going back again real soon. We even got our son Max to join us and even try some of the great bourbon Kentucky has to offer. We had some good food and even had a chance to go to a Cigar Bar across the river into Indiana. We had a really good time on the trip. I do have a pet-peeve though! I hate when I search for a good restaurant and they display their food in styrofoam containers or on paper plates. I know most of the picture are probably during Covid. I get that, but Covid is "over" now so get rid of them. It annoys the hell out of me. The restaurants we went to luckily did use paper products, thank goodness. We had some really good southern food while we were there. That's why I love going South, I like to eat. In Ohio we had a "Special Election" a couple Tuesdays ago. They meaning our Republican House tried to trick the Voters, thinking we weren't paying attention and we proved them wrong. We had more people vote that the last Presidential Election it said. Issue 1 went down in flames. Thank you Ohio for putting a smile on my face again when it comes to voting. Lets go quickly to Mississippi and talk about this "Special Police Unit" that calls themselves the Goon Squad. Well they got to stand in front of a judge and plead guilty to torturing two black men for two hours and shooting one of them in the mouth. These police and there Police Chief need to be in jail. This is 2023 and things like this shouldn't be going on, but sadly they are and hopefully we have a positive outcome from this case. That outcome being jail for these criminals. Global warming is a real thing and it is showing us this summer with this crazy weather. Cathy says that we have no control of the weather once it's out there. No one has control when you look at it. We all need to be conscientious of what we're doing when it come to polluting the air. The earth is on fire and we need to get it under control. Out West they were having temps in the 100's for a month straight and in Ohio we are barely having a summer. Finally we talk about the "Legend" John Denver or is it Bob Denver and all of hit musical hits. Does he belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame? We had this discussion off air last week and Cathy was cracking up! We hope you enjoy the show and Please join us again next week for another fun filled show . Email us at victor50talk@gmail.com if you want to continue the conversation. Also welcome any of our Family to the show. We hope you enjoy and aren't offended by the adult conversation.
Welcome back to 50Talk. Cathy and I are really glad to be ack with you guys. It's been a long and busy summer for us especially the month of July. We have been doing so much this past month. I think I need a vacation from all the stuff we've been doing. We would like to send out a very special "Thank You" to our Friends Eric & Johnna for coming up this past weekend and spending some time with us and getting to see some of what the North Coast of Ohio has to offer. Eric used to be one of my co-host on my former podcast, The 40cast for a lot of years a long time ago. I always put an extra effort into my podcast brothers and what we did outside of podcasting and I will say that Eric and his family and The Johnsons are family to this day. We had such a great time hanging out by the fire and drinking with them this week. I look forward to us getting together real soon.Well, we definitely have some catching up to so I'm gonna start wit one of the most controversial topics of the last two weeks. That damn Jason Aldean music video (who the fuck does videos these days anyway) and all the "dog whistles'" in that hateful shit! He should be ashamed of himself and the video producers should be as well. I have other choice words for all of them but I would rather say them to all their faces. My opinion on this topic is strong an that video continues to eat at me today even after only watching it once. We have to talk about my guy (not so much) Ron DeSantis and his idiocy of inviting our Vice President Kamala Harris to debate him in Florida about the benefits slavery gave to the enslaved. Yeah, you heard that right. Slaves got some benefit out of being en-slaved. They learned skills that they could us out in the job force with all the other captured folks. I'm so glad the VP turned down this ridiculous invitation to keep that buffoon from embarrassing himself in his run for President. Real quick, we talk about the DOJ and the FBI and the so called "weaponization" by the Democrats and them going after Trump. I think it's downright hilarious that they think it's wrong for Trump to have to pay for his crimes. The history of the FBI and the DOJ hasn't always been the kindest to certain people at certain times, but that was okay back in the day. On to some talk about how wrong it is for the DOJ and the Special Counsel to go after Trump for his supposed "1st amendment rights". He has the freedom of speech and this is just what he did. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences of you actions through your words. And also how this is "political", well no shit it's political. Your a Politician and you broke the law (or plenty of laws). If he is so affended by that then he just get out of the race for President and clear his name and afterwards get back into the race the next time around. Really, Really quick we talk about our busy month of July and some of the things we did. I just want to sit and recover now.We all know the woman's World Cup of Soccer is going on and one of the most prolific veterans on the team has made the news n a not so great way, says Megan Kelley! She has "poisoned" the entire team. Enjoy this and give me your opinion on the topic if you will at victor50talk@gmail.comFinal topic of this extended episode is another Police shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota of a black man. Not to much info is out about he situation but the investigation is on-going and three Patrol officers have been put on leave. We hope you all enjoy the episode and if you could leave us some feedback. We talked about a lot of sensitive topics today. Please feel free to leave us an e-mail at victor50talk@gmail.com We would love to hear from you and continue the conversation.
We are back! Thank you all for joining us again. This week we have a lot to say. We have some making/catching up to do. I offer no explanation for our lack of podcasting the last two weeks. We're back and happy to be back. So let's get into it! We start the show off with some pain that I've been dealing with the last couple weeks. Cathy knows how I don't like pain so this conversation gets interesting.Next up, we try to catch up on the Titanic Exploration Sub. Our Cousin and show listener knows I have an opinion on this disaster so here it goes. I think "rich people" can find a better way to waste money beside risking their live and leaving us common folk to clean up their mess. There are tons of people without the basic needs that could use that money. We need to stop all these "Rich guy" exploration and trips to the edge of space, right now! There has been another shake-up in the Supreme Court. Our Conservative six have once again taken our country backwards after a lot of years by ending Affirmative Action. My personal opinion is that it's a horrible idea to end it. It really did help otherwise, the poor and underprivileged make a better life for themselves and their families. Some people are looking at this in a totally different way and I get that. Also affected by this is President Bidens College Debt Cancellation, The Religion, Free Speech and Gay Rights, which was cancelled based off of a false and untrue story. I think this is opening the door to trouble. Cathy wants to know how old I was when I got my 1st job and what it was. She also wants to know my favorite job as an adult and what would have been my job of choice as an adult. She always made here 1st jobs seem so easy compared to my 1st jobs. I hated mine and I think she liked hers. There is one more day of Amazon Prime Days. Run out there and get those deals. The mention of Amazon Prime Days was not a paid advertisement. I just love Amazon. What do you guys think of the "new shiny object" that is Threads? So far I like it and Cathy has not tried it. I thin kit will be around for a longtime to come with over 100 million signed up in the first few days. Can this really be "The Twitter Killer" ? I guess we will have to wait and see but so far its going pretty well. Last thing is important to me but not so much for Cathy, Microsoft has been given permission to buy Activision/Blizzard for $68billion. The deal has to go through the appeals process 1st but it may be a done deal still. Thank you all for joining us and we will see you all next week for episode 80. If you want to be a part of the show hit me with an email at victor50talk@gmail.com and thank you Kyla for the topic this week.
Welcome to another Episode of 50Talk. This week we bring to you the magic show number 78. How do I know that? I had to go to Spotify to make sure I was giving you all the right episode number. I've been having an issue remembering where we are at but it's all god now. This week Cathy and I have some pretty interesting topics to talk about so lets get into the conversations. Our 1st topic is about Father's Day and what a great day t was for me. Cathy never disappoints when it comes to celebrating and she didn't this Father's Day. She planned a big breakfast for me and all the boys came over and my grandson and we had a great time. My Grandson even gave his Dad his present while they were over as well and it had my boy crying. I just love being around my boyz not just for holidays but all the time. They make me so proud, hell I even think they like me sometime. This weekend was a weekend of celebration for the Johnson's. With Juneteenth being recognized for the 2nd time federally it was a great time for Cathy and I to get some history on the City of Oberlin and what part it played during slavery. We have lived in Lorain County for over 25 years and it was our 1st time dong the tour. We learned so much and are looking forward to the follow up tour in August, What really is a salad? We get into a thought provoking conversation on that question. It definitely makes you think. Is it the lettuce/greens or is it the dressing? Hopefully you can let us know. Send your answer to our 50Talk email at victor50talk@gmail.comNext up it's time to grab a towel because the show is about to get hot. Which way do you prefer to have sex/make love? Do you do "it" under the sheets or on top of the sheets? Their are so many reasons to do it one way or the other but we are gonna let you guys know the best way. The Minneapolis Police Department had been investigated by the Department of Justice for the last couple of years and they are finally done. Listen to what the findings are and what we think they need to do to change the culture there. We don't have all the answers but we try. We can't go an episode with out talking Politics and a few of our Republican Presidential Candidates have given me a lot to talk about and that talking got me all hot and bothered. Maybe it's my passion again but what in the hell is going on with these guys? Thanks for joining us this week and we will see you all next week for another conversation filled episode.
